This afternoon, my brother and I decided to visit El Torito in Hawthorne to try out their margaritas. We sat at the bar and the bartender, Naila took excellent care of us. Naila wasted no time at all making us some of the best, most flavorful blackberry margaritas that we have ever had. As we enjoyed our drinks, I noticed that Naila was always sweet, polite, friendly and attentive to the guests as well as the other servers who she was busy making drinks for. Naila demonstrated her knowledge and expertise of the various types of tequila in her bar. We wound up enjoying shots of Tres Generations Anejo with our margaritas. Naila, though very busy, was always polite, friendly and attentive to the staff and her customers. She made us feel comfortable and welcome and that really impressed us. Naila also told us about other El Torito specials and invited us to come back to enjoy those events also. El Torito is a chain, I don't know if there are any outside of California. This one is in Hawthorne near a huge mall. It is excellent. Always make a reservation, especially on the weekends or you will be waiting. Parking is easy. They have a full bar, a lot of comfortable seating and they even have Sunday Brunch. We were there, this time for dinner. As always it was great. It is a tad pricey for what you get which is traditional Mexican food. They always have specials, this time they had 35$ per person special called Dine LA. We did not get it, but it is a good deal. The service is excellent. All the staff dresses in Mexican style clothes and it is very cute. They are all super nice and you will be well cared for. We had the table side guacamole and you get a lot. My grandson loves it. For dessert we had their flan which was very good. Our mains were salads and really great combination plates. You will love this place. read more

Stopped by on Friday late night for dinner (08/01/25) with my boyfriend! We participated in the Dine LA special ($35 per person for a 3-couse meal). Ordered the following: - 2 Dine LA Dinner ($35 per person) = $70 which consists of: - 1 tableside guacamole - 1 flauta - 1 asada with shrimp - 1 2-item combo of tacos (one chicken and one beef) - 1 flan - 1 other dessert we got instead of the deep fried ice cream since they were out :( also ordered: - 1 mexican candy shot = $11.75 - 2 modelos ($7.75 each) = $15.50 SUBTOTAL = $97.25 SURCHARGE (?) = $3.88 TAX = $10.62 OVERALL TOTAL = $111.75 ** Also tipped $15 in cash ** It was pretty quiet on a Friday night. We've been here a couple of times. The food is generally very good. On this last visit the service was questionable. There doesn't seem to be any urgency on the part of the waitstaff. We came here to celebrate a family birthday and did the brunch buffet -- and honestly, I was super impressed! The brunch is about $40 per person (kids around $13) and totally worth it. They had all the classics: El Torito cheese enchiladas, bacon, sausage, an omelette station, tacos, fresh fruit -- pretty much everything you'd want for a perfect brunch spread, plus mimosas! The service was great, too. The staff was friendly, and the food stations were constantly refreshed, so everything stayed hot and fresh. We had a big group (about 30 people), and they were able to seat us all together with no issues. We brought our own cake, and the team was more than happy to help us celebrate -- they even joined in singing Happy Birthday, which made it feel extra special. All in all, it was a great experience. I had an excellent experience. I had the shrimp and steak fajitas. They were filled with so much flavor. Probably some of the best fajitas that I've ever had. For dessert, I had the deep fried ice cream- which apparently isn't as common in restaurants as it once was. It was delicious. My family and I shared it, and I ate most of it. The chocolate wasn't the typical Hershey's chocolate syrup I think. The ice cream had coconut flakes which totally enhanced the favor. My nephew finished his pizza. My niece finished her chicken tenders. My sister enjoyed the spinach enchiladas. The rice was good. The restaurant was really clean and spacious. The staff was super friendly. Management has really disappointed it's not once or twice it's anytime this particular Hispanic man with glasses is the managing. Its the only time there's a wait need to wait of 10 to 14 minutes literally waiting for someone to come to the front desk to acknowledge anyone is there waiting to be seated. I feel bad for the waiters as they're looking at you and rushing attending the already see the clients! What is going on with your management you guys need to change it I've never seen it this way and I've been coming here for 20 years. We got to the restaurant and there was no one in the front. While we waited, more people were coming in the front door. We had to wait about 15 minutes in the front before the hostess showed up. I was in front of the line trying to get a table. While I was telling the hostess that we needed a table for 6, she rudely started talking aver me and with an attitude she asked who was first. Hence there's a line that formed and I was in the front. Again, I told her I needed a table for 6. She said I had to wait 15 minutes because there was only one server. The one server had two tables!! But One server on a Saturday at 1:20pm???? I said ok I'll wait. But then she started sitting the other parties that walked in after me. what!!??? We had the pleasure of meeting Daisy and our server Cynthia on our last review. We've been for Saturday buffet and middle of the week lunch brunch.. today we are back for Sunday brunch with my family of seven and again it never fluctuates. It's consistent with the warm and attention they give to their customers. This restaurant is always clean and there's always a smiling face everywhere. I love this is place , I try to come specifically on Sunday's because of their bottomless mimosa (9am-2pm) and buffet style entrees during their brunch Sundays. My husband and I took our twin nephew and niece out for their 22nd birthday dinner at El Torito 3/12... We had a great experience there a week prior and wanted to share a special moment with them. Our server Chris was excellent--very attentive, quick with the food and drinks, and gave us space to bond and talk. The food was delicious, and the margaritas were great. Unfortunately, the experience took an uncomfortable turn when the manager, approached our table after we had already been dining about an 1hr and decided to card only my niece. She said it was brought to her attention that our table had not been carded, but if that was the case, it was unclear why she singled out only my niece. Prior to this my niece mentioned they went to school together and knew each other, which now made the interaction even more uncomfortable--you could really feel the tension at the table. The manager also told us the server was in trouble, which felt unprofessional, and we didn't understand... especially since our server was doing a great job and still serving us.... This really changed the vibe. Meanwhile, there was a visibly intoxicated woman at the bar being loud and disruptive in what is supposed to be a family restaurant--something that, in my opinion, should have been the manager's focus. The way the situation was handled created noticeable tension at our table and felt less like a routine policy check and more like a personal interaction directed at my niece. Really great Sunday brunch! I took my parents out for Sunday brunch at this El Torito and we really enjoyed it. The food is great, especially the menudo. My mom is a great cook and it's hard to take her anywhere without her critiquing the food. But she had no complaints here. She was thinking about the menudo even days after. haha. The staff was really nice. Our server Eduardo was amazing. My mimosa was never empty and he always checked on us to see if we needed anything, which was very much appreciated.
