Went over to my friends house to watch the football games this past weekend, and they ordered Mi Zacatecas for dinner. I have driven by this place a gazillion times, but had never gone in. Its a few blocks down from my Mom's house and right across the street from Hawthorne High School. I went with their 4 taco combo, shredded beef. How were they? Pretty freaking tasty! Right when I took the lid off the container, they looked similar to old school El Tarasco tacos. Red sauce on top, fried shell etc. Even the chips they give you were full fried tortillas. Bomb! The tacos were tasty, but they lost a little texture and crisp from the delivery. They would be better if ordered at the shop. Still, even then, I enjoyed every bite of them. They had lots of shredded beef in them, tons of lettuce and cheese and that red sauce. Damn fine tacos! I will definitely be back to eat inside there the next time I go see my Mom. I've been coming to this place since I was young, and it's always been our go-to spot for wet burritos. You honestly can't go wrong. I usually order mine with green sauce, while my husband prefers the red sauce, and both are consistently so good. The customer service has always been top-notch, with a lot of familiar faces even after all these years. The restaurant has grown, but the quality and hospitality have stayed the same. I was in the area when I remembered how delicious and large the burritos were here. I called in my order for pick up and was quoted 10-15 minutes. It was during the lunch hour when I arrived and the small shared parking lot was packed with cars, some double parked. I decided to avoid the chaos and parked at the coffee spot next door. I was immediately greeted when I walked in and the food was ready. I ordered the super deluxe Asada Burrito wet with red and green salsa. It's also topped with guacamole and sour cream. I was sharing the burrito and although it looked big, it was a lot smaller than in the past and was actually the size of the Junior burrito that I use to order. The quality of the steak wasn't great and overall not a burrito worth coming back for anymore. read more

It's been several years since I've been here. I'm glad I stopped. I was hungry. I wanted something to eat, while in the car, for my 20 mile drive. Delicious food and even better service! Waitress and staff were hustling- moving fast, bringing out plates and working the cash register and door. It is verrrrry popular so be prepared to wait but is definitely worth it! I got the hard shell and enchilada combo. The enchilada sauce (red) was sooo yummy! not too spicy but full of flavor. The workers here are so nice and we had the best experience. They start you off with complimentary clips and salsa. We ordered carnitas and lengua as our protein choices and both were great. This was my first time trying the food from this place and it honestly was really good!! My boyfriend ordered off postmates and the packaging was amazing. They gave us so much tostadas and salsa for 2 burritos. The burritos are also huge. Salsa verde was really good. The food was also hot for it being delivered to us. So 10/10 I recommend. read more

Parking lot is moderate in size and gets filled pretty fast. The restaurant is great for dine in. We took advantage of the burrito lunch special (1 carne asada, 1 lengua) that comes with chips + salsa and a medium drink. Each lunch special was $12. How can you beat that! The burritos were delicious. We even got refills on our chips and salsa, which were just as tasty. Service was quick and they kept checking up on us! Ordered takeout and wasn't that impressed unfortunately. I was craving Chile Rellenos and ordered the plate with rice and beans. It stated 2 Rellenos but there was only 1 small one and it was greasy and flat with hardly any filling. The beans and especially the rice were tasty but it left a bad taste in my mouth that the Rellenos were short in number and texture/flavor. I picked this restaurant as they state they do not cook with lard which is a plus for me. I will give them another try on my next visit to CA. The meat burritos all had the same flavor - kind of one note with a lack of spice, salt and texture contrast. An authentic and delicious Mexican restaurant with a menu like a literal book. I ordered the Super Deluxe Wet Burrito with Salsa Verde (the better salsa!!) and chose al pastor as my protein. They mean it when they say deluxe because this burrito was packed with rice, beans, lettuce, cheese, and al pastor all topped off with a generous amount of guac and sour cream. They also give you unlimited free chips and salsa as an appetizer while you wait for your entree! I love when free food comes to your table unexpectedly. I came in a group of 6 and literally 5 out of 6 of us ordered the EXACT same thing except with different proteins. My friends who got carne asada tried the pastor and said that we made the better choice so I call that a W. Usually carne asada is the popular choice but I've always liked al pastor more for some reason. As a big burrito fan, I would definitely come back to explore the other variations of the menu. We also got to try the flan for dessert! It's drizzled in chocolate syrup and has a light but rich flavor profile. I would say that it was moist but I think that word might be off-putting for some people so I'll leave it at that. The restaurant is pretty standard and there is always somewhere to sit. It's always clean in the lobby. The bathroom has always been clean as well which is very important to me. The staff servers are always nice the food comes out hot. It was my son favorite spot and now it's my favorite spot. Customer service to me is very important and this place has impeccable customer service! From we entered until the end of our delicious meal we were checked on several times. The star of the show for me was the mango margarita, chefs kiss I wonder if they sell those to go? Anyhow I also had the wet asada burrito with half green and red sauce, my husband had a carnitas plate which included beans and rice . The carnitas was tender and flavorful my burrito was packed with asada, our food came out pretty quick but was steaming hot! I loved everything about our visit and the price point was amazing. Homey Mexican restaurant in Hawthorne with generous portions and cheap drinks. Came here on a Sunday for an early dinner with my parents and was seated immediately. Indoor dining only (no outdoor options). Takeout/delivery is also available. They provide free tostadas and mild salsa; I would recommend asking for the molcajete salsa which is spicier. Parking is available in the small lot. Credit cards are accepted. There are single occupant restrooms available. The wet burrito with carnitas gave me life after a weekend in Vegas. They do put sour cream and guac on top in addition to the salsa. I had leftovers for the next day and they kept well. The strawberry margarita and the michelada are quite large and both were under $10, which was great. The straw for the michelada had a tamarind coating too, which was tasty. The tacos had a generous portion of meat and I particularly liked the al pastor. Overall, it's a solid spot to grab cheap dine-in Mexican food. read more
