We came here for brunch and was a little disappointed. I ordered the chiliqueues (unsure of the spelling-see receipt) with home fries. My partner ordered the chicken sandwich with fries. Was thoroughly disappointed in the amount of fries that were given. I understand that this might be a cost effective method but don't make your customers suffer. For 12 bucks, I think giving more than a handful of fries would be appreciated. The red sauce that came on mine was very salty I also think they may have skimped out on the sauce as the chips were a bit dry. Probably won't go here again. read more

Jerry's is a good place to stop in Gardnerville for a quick bite to eat. They have lots of options, everything from hot dogs, to omelets, to tamales. We ordered the chips and salsa to start, and they were so yummy and fresh homemade chips! I love that! I gave them three stars for two reasons. First, our booth was near the entrance to the kitchen and to keep it short, the kitchen was rather unkept. It wasn't worrisome to the point of not wanting to eat there but it is something that should be a priority for a restaurant, in my opinion! Next, our food took at least 45 minutes to come out. Quality of food is somewhat average for a small-town diner. Ambiance is lacking, music annoying, and the service is horrible. My wife and I waited 20 minutes before we were even approached by a waitress, and that was after numerous attempts to flag someone down. Toilets are inconveniently located outside of the building. Worst service ever. We stood in the entrance for over 15 minutes and was completely ignored. I saw several people take seats outside (where we wanted to sit) and they were served. Finally I asked The hostess/waitress if we could sit out side and she responded " we will have to clean a table" I asked if we could just sit at one, she said yes. We sat outside for another 15 minutes being totally ignored, watching the waitress's serve other tables. I finally got the attention of a waitress and she came over to our table. I told her we have been sitting here a while, could we order or at least get some coffee. She said "we are very busy in a mean way and just walked away from us. Had brunch there today. My wife ordered eggs over hard and came over easy. The coffee was the weakest I have ever had. I had the ham steak and eggs. Ham was really salty and the hash browns were ordered extra crispy and were barely warm. The worst part was the flies constantly buzzing around us while trying to eat. Wont be coming back. read more

Just found this place on the way to Reno, actually passed it by then made a u-turn to go back and try it out. It is a small restaurant with outdated furnishings and mismatched decor, adding to its unique charm. We were the only ones there at 3:30 in the afternoon. Our server was very nice and we were warmly greeted and seated. The menu selection looked good, filled with the usual diner style food and as an added bonus, they serve breakfast all day long. We ordered a Turkey hamburger, bacon cheese burger, French toast and a chef salad, plus drinks. I ordered the chef salad and it was a very generous portion of iceberg lettuce heaped with ham, cheese, tomato, hard boiled eggs and a side of ranch dressing. It was very challenging to finish it and I just couldn't quite do it. The French toast was perfection with extra cinnamon, six half slices total, butter and syrup. I didn't try the burgers but they looked quite good, again, large portions. The onion rings were lacking, probably cheep frozen versions and I hope they step up their game here. Over all, if I was to pass through Gardnerville, I would stop there again, those breakfast selections where just mouth-watering appealing. read more

Husband and I stopped through on our way from camping. We were sat quickly and our table was sanitized and the flatware and dishes or squeaky clean. (I am a stickler about dirty tables and dishes). I ordered the spinach mushroom omelette, husband ordered country fried steak. The omelette was overflowing with fresh, delicious vegetables, perfectly seasoned with housemade hollandaise on top. I couldn't have made it better myself. Hash browns were classic and delicious. Husband's country fried steak was tender and juicy with no gristle. House-made white gravy seasoned perfectly. The wait staff was fast and friendly, the food came out quickly, we will be sure to return next time we pass through Gardnerville. read more

Service I was meet with a prejudice I walked in was waiting in line for a while, the wait person who was Hispanic waited on a customer I found a menu and read it I was ready to order. A Hispanic couple walked in the waitress walked around me offered them a table inside. The couple that came behind me then stated that they would like too eat out there also. She escorted them to a table gave them menus left then came back with their drinks. It seems like a lot has changed since I've been home. Last time i was in town this place was still my favorite local Mexican food spot. For breakfast I wasn't super impressed. The food was good but nothing out of this world. I ordered corned beef hash which came with eggs, hash browns, and toast. The hash browns were bland and dry, kind of made me wish I had gone with the country potatoes instead. The corned beef hash was made from scratch which I give them props for it wasn't some canned version it was actual corned beef hash, however unlike the hash browns the corned beef hash was over seasoned. It had an unusual flavor to it and it threw me off completely. My mom had country fried steak and she didn't even finish half of it which means it probably wasn't that good either. All in all it was decent but I think I will stick to Hamdogs or Woodetts next time i come home for a visit. read more
