I want to thank Jerry's and the manager, Adam, for hosting my team of 16 healthcare employees for lunch. My team needed a "mental health day" and volunteered at a local food pantry, then headed to lunch in the Square. Adam made sure the restaurant could accommodate such a large group. The service and food were both excellent. The team was happy and I could not have asked for a better situation in which to thank my employees for their service to the community. I liked dining here! They have igloos which are nice in COVID-19 but my igloo did have a couple of holes in it . The waiter was great though. The giving hand who slipped food in through the tent flap. They chatted from outside the tent. Poor guy was in the cold but it was great! Be aware there is a $50 minimum and be aware that it's worth it. These waiters work hard. Food was good. Pretty good! read more

I used to live within walking distance of Jerry's but never went there before. Went for the first time yesterday while waiting for new tires to be installed (was quite a walk). I had the Pancho V chicken sandwich with potato salad and coleslaw. The potato salad was an oil-based red potato salad with dill(?) that I really enjoyed but is probably not for everyone. Coleslaw was good and the sandwich was really good. Wish I'd gone there when I lived in the area because it definitely would have been a regular spot for me to visit. read more

Santa and Mrs Claus popped in today (with the 91 year old Head Elf) and it was delish! The Harlan (fried chicken sandwich), the Groucho (shrimp and pork belly) were two faves and Mrs C loved the butternut squash soup! Food is good. Service is terrible. Our server Pauly took forever with our drinks and brought my friend the wrong drink. I had to catch his attention to tell him of the mistake. He came back to tell us they were out of chambord also out of her second choice Sauvignon blanc. Our chips and salsa appetizer took 30 mins and our sandwiches came out immediately after which negated the purpose of an appetizer. Not to mention chips and salsa are the easiest thing to bring out quickly, the fact that they are both already made leaves no excuses for them to take 30 mins. Pauly was extremely inattentive and we never got to see a check just rushed to pay and tip immediately. Pauly rushed us the whole time but had no sense of urgency himself. The bartender was also serving all the tables. He could never provide good service, because he was swamped. Meanwhile, bussers & dishwashers were more swamped than he was. Maybe it's running on a skeleton crew, we thought? But...missing link started with the bartender. He was doing shots with the patrons. We ordered the same round three times and he kept forgetting. He was hitting on women at the bar that were put off by it, and then revenge serving them by ignoring them. Sad. Could've had 3 rounds in the time we had 1, and asked for the bill If we decide to give it another go, we will avoid it when the bartender and "manager" are there. Apparently, owners are in LA and it fucking shows. Annoying. Get it together folks! read more

Really enjoyed the Joey V sandwich with a side of fries and mac & cheese for dinner tonight. We ordered online and were able to pick up our food about 25 minutes later. The food traveled really well and was still warm once it got home. The sandwich was wrapped on its own so the fries didn't get all soggy from the sauces on the sandwich. Not the cheapest meal but everything tasted high quality. I am looking forward to ordering again! read more

A group of friends and I wandered into Jerry's after hitting up the apple fest to grab a little brunch. I wasn't all that hungry but wanted a little something so I got the macaroni and cheese plate from the starter menu. A classic and I was very impressed. My friends got a variety of sandwiches that each came with two sides which I was surprised by. People were sitting indoors and outside. We opted for outside and snagged a spot with a heat lamp. Overall, great spot and I'm looking forward to going back to try more off their very diverse menu! read more

Since moving to Lincoln Square in June 2020, this has been one of my go to spots. We have eaten inside, ordered pick up, and had delivery. All of their phases of service have been great. Everything my family has eaten has been fantastic. I personally like their tomato soup, as well as their season squash soup, and the sandwich called "Nutball C". They also have great burgers, your choice of Kobe beef or a veggie patty. Both are excellent. The beer selection is also on point. read more

We've been a fan of Jerry's....tried calling in an order tonight before everything shuts down. Was asked to hold while he completed another call in order. Sat there on hold for 5 minutes.and could hear all the comotion in the background. Hung up and tried to call back, but the line kept ringing busy for 5-10 minutes after I hung up. This review is based solely on the customer service experience I just had, which unfortunately involved no food. I have ordered delivery from Jerrys a number of times, and when I called today was told that they had changed their delivery zone and I was no longer in it. But I was then told they would make an exception this one time. Only to have them then change their mind seconds later because they decided they were too busy at that moment to make it worth their while. If you are going to offer something to a customer don't bait and switch them seconds later. I would have been fine with a simple change in zone, but the promise that was taken away really left a bad taste in my mouth. read more

We were charged 20% on our party of 6. However they charged tip on the total, including tax. I googled this later and they are Not supposed to do that. On the receipts bottom it shows the tip at the proper lower amount on the bottom where it showed suggested tips. But because they instead charged tips automatically they total it after taxes. That's wrong, and a rip off. Food was great, loved the sides. Sweet potato chunks were extra yummy. Nice vibe with a fun mix of families, hipsters and locals. Nice patio too. This place is located in a nice convenient area BUT that doesn't mean that we could wait 20 minutes to get the drinks order, and food was just basic. This is a fun and funky place we've been to on occasion. However, dining in the pandemic has increased our regard for this restaurant. Good size patio on the square that is a great spot for the Lincoln Square music series. Our server, Dash, was the best. He gave his recommendations with his own spin that had us still laughing when he left the table. We hike a few milles to come check out the new Jerry's location in Lincoln Square. It was super busy since the weather was so nice. It was good to see that, especially since the now closed Wicker Park location was rather sad and always empty. We got seated right away and it took about 20 minutes for our waiter to come take our order. I order the Hansel sandwich which is a buffalo chix sand on a sourdough type bread. I had mashed potatoes and mac and cheese as side dishes. The sandwich and sides where a little cold, l imagine it sat on the line for a while as they were trying to serve everyone that came in for lunch at the same time. In all, food was tasty but would have been superb had it been hot and prompt. (I imagine they are getting used to having way more traffic and take out than before) so l can understand and will definitely be back. The new location is new and clean. Lots of kids (some annoying) and some not. But lots of kids for sure. This location is more family oriented and overall okay. Hostess was moving around greeting people at the door and bringing water to guest. (I was floored) before she just sat in a dark corner up in Wicker Park and was uncomfortable to walk in and "make her get up her chair" I will be back as the sandwiches are fabulous. Will drive the 7 milles up north for sure. But will stay away from peak times for now. read more

I've been to all three locations of Jerry's. First the Wicker Park one, and later the (in my opinion, better) Andersonville location. This one is on par with the both in terms of sandwich quality, is the 2nd best in terms of beer selection, and is so far in last place in terms of management that I'd be better off comparing it to a fast food place that you'd encounter in purgatory. The service is incredibly slow, but it's through no fault of their own. It's clear that management underhired and understaffs the place, and also built a huge area with a kitchen too small to accommodate that. It's just a shame that my otherwise very good sandwich took TWO HOURS to get on a Saturday afternoon. Here are the pluses for Jerry's in Lincoln Square- the sandwiches are good, the fried food for some reason comes out 10X faster than the sandwiches, and the sides are a great add on. It also is very reasonably priced with their craft beer. Here are the negatives. A sandwich costs $12-15 which is about 2 dollars overpriced with every sandwich they offer. The bloody mary is $10 for a $7 quality Bloody Mary in an area where you can find $4 bloody marys with no difficulty. The service is atrocious and the staff is horrifically overworked. It took me 10 minutes to get seated (with plenty of seats available) 15 minutes to get attended to 20 minutes to order a second drink after finishing the first, and about 70 minutes to get my food. Part of that is that the poor BARTENDER was the guy stuck serving my section.. It's just truly baffling what the owners here are thinking. They know how to run an establishment that serves the same quality food but three times as fast, but instead they just cram as many tables into their space as they can, even though they can't actually feed everyone in a timely fashion if it's even close to full? What is going on here? I see a positive post below me by Brad P that says the people complaining about Jerry's are "entitled parents" of "spoiled brats". I can say this- I'm definitely not a parent, though I did see those customers there. But that's not the problem. The service isn't even the problem. The service just humanly can't tend to the customers because of the horrific management at play here. It's a shame to see. There are so many better options in the area to choose from. If you really want to get a Jerry's sandwich, just take a $4 uber and go to the Andersonville location instead. read more

Maybe I'm just a bad orderer, but 2/2 of my sandwiches have been sub par and all of my sides have been the same as well. I got a chicken sandwich which I could've made myself for $3 instead of $13 and a vegetarian sandwich that was just like a couple slices of avocado. It's like they buy the cheapest bread they can find, so again 2/2 sandwiches just completely disintegrated. I've tried the pasta salad, which was just meh, potato salad was vinegar based which I don't like, I ordered coleslaw but it was just a bowl of pickles and onions??????, and then the French fries are like frozen store bought. My husband and I shared the Sandra O. (fried chicken with Korean BBQ sauce, cucumbers, and other veggies) and the Curt C. (salmon, asparagus, avocado, lettuce, and ranch dressing). Both sandwiches were good, though the menu described the Curt C. as having smoked salmon, and it definitely wasn't smoked. The sides were also tasty (house chips, spiced apples, bourbon sweet potatoes, and fries), but the servings were too small given the price, which is why this is a three-star review rather than a four-star review. The lunchtime ambiance was nice. Seemed very family friendly. One small complaint: the large windows have no shades, which meant the sun steadily crept into our eyes as the afternoon advanced. read more

The WORST restaurant and a sad addition to The Square. Today my partner, our 9 year old and I were shopping in the square and decided to eat at Jerry's. Worst mistake of our lives. I ordered a burger, my partner ordered a Cobb salad, and the kid got some mac and cheese. 5 mins after ordering the brought out the kids meal without the rest of the food. 20 minutes later our food came out, and of course our kid was already done with their meal. Once we got our food, our table had zero napkins or silver ware. When we asked our waiter, he seemed annoyed to help us. My partners salad was not a Cobb salad. It was something with terrible dressing and no Cobb toppings. The whole experience was just awful. The staff seemed stressed out, their owner/manage seemed like a micro manager and only added to the frantic vibe. The worst $50 I've ever spent on a meal. Never go to this place for brunch. I ordered an egg sandwich with a side salad assuming that egg sandwiches always had eggs that were at least over medium. I got the sandwich and the egg was over hard and I concluded that it was stupid of me to have made that assumption, so I ordered an over easy egg on the side. I got another hard egg. The people complaining about Jerry's are typical Lincoln Square entitled parents. When I was there the other night, one of the parents asked the waiter to remove the Halloween decorations because they scared her precious spoiled brat. Jerry's is great. It is not Potbellys or Costellos or Subway. It is a high quality, great food, inventive restaurant and bar. The drink list is fantastic. The sandwiches are always great. And the service is always friendly. It's amazing how much better things are when you're not a jerk to the servers. I really hope the entitled parents of Lincoln Square don't put this place out of business because those of us who enjoy good food and drink would like it to stay. read more

This was my first visit to Jerry's. I liked the space and ambiance. We shared the hummus with pita. Hummus was average. The pitas came grilled and fried--very good. My partner had the Brutus salad--Caesar with blackened chicken. Very nice. Large salad with fabulous Caesar dressing. I wasn't particularly hungry and it was kind of chilly out, so I chose the chicken, seafood and sausage gumbo. Thank goodness for the Crystal hot sauce. This might have been the worst gumbo I've ever experienced. I detected no celery, onion and just a like bit of something green. Perhaps it was green pepper. There was no depth of flavor that a good roux might have provided. And I think the soup had been made last week. There was no brightness or freshness of flavor. It could have been in the freezer for a year. Very disappointing. On the bright side, my coffee was excellent. Service was mediocre at best. Our server never checked on us. We were there for over an hour and the music selection was entirely Led Zeppelin. Now I'm a fan, but the volume was loud and give me a break....90 minutes of Led Zeppelin....not every cut was a favorite. I'll go back, but no soup from me. read more

We just received the most ridiculous service at this place. It took them an hour and 20 minutes just to bring us our appetizer. Then another 20 to get our food, which they got 2 out of 5 meals wrong. Honestly, I was just about to order a pizza from somewhere else for delivery right to my table. It was well over two hours for lunch. Wasn't even that crowded. They took some money off the bill after mildly apologizing. Didn't feel that sincere. No manager came over. Don't think there even was one. I dont really think that they understood what an unpleasant experience that they had created for their customer. Felt like the parents were on vacation and left the place to be run amuck by the kids. Great Location. Terrible Service. I am sitting outside at Jerry's writing this. Our server was totally incompetent. This is also not the first time this has happened here. I can say for sure that until this place gets better management that I will not be back. Bread was way over toasted. Forgotten sides. Forgotten drinks. No place settings. No condiments. I wish this had been a good experience. The location is great shame that the quality isn't great. Ordered and was surprised how fast we got our order.... well it was warm at best. I had the Mac and cheese and it was coagulated :( My partner had a sandwich that was cold as well. His side of beans was cold too?!? Really!! Your a restaurant, your job is to serve properly cooked hot food. I hate sending food back but honestly we had no choice! I am tired of paying ridiculous prices for subpar meals.
