One star seems overly generous. Jerry's has a trash problem - they can't seem to prevent their trash bins from overflowing, and littering the neighborhood with trash on a regular basis. Repeated visits to ask them to clean up their act garnered responses that were initially apologetic, but quickly became full of excuses and finger-pointing. Ultimately, no one else should have to clean up your trash because you're engaged in a dispute with your waste management provider. At one point, it was so bad that their industrial trash bin made a break for it, and attempted to make a new home in the front yard of someone unfortunate enough to live nearby. Their response? It isn't ours! Even though the bin was clearly labeled with their name, address, etc. Now, they've decided the quickest route to resolving the dispute with their waste management provider is to abandon their trash bins altogether. So they've pushed them to a spot in a public alleyway and made a poor attempt at removing their identifying information. In terms of food & cleanliness, Jerry's is a poor addition to a great neighborhood (yes, I've eaten there; no, it's not noteworthy enough to mention). If you're choosing a local business to support, please choose a different one. read more

If only the service was as good as the food... The only time you'll see a server is to get your order in and get the check. And that's after you wait an eternity and beg for their attention. It seems nobody on the staff cares or wants to be there. When you ask for anything, the communication is terrible. Attitudes galore. Don't expect the fundamentals of serving (refills, condiments, check-ins, offerings) to even happen. This place has so much potential, but unfortunately the staff is a major buzzkill. read more

The past two times I've come here, the wait was incredibly long. 45 minutes+ The waitress explained that it gets very busy on these nights. So I wonder, if they're aware of the usual crowds that come in, why are they not more prepared? Perhaps they're short staffed..?? It's just unfortunate because I like the place, but I wouldn't recommend going with young children. read more

Just lousy service all the way! They don't even try to pretend. I mean, just blatant rudeness and disregard for the customer. I sat and sat, waited and waited, but the bartender would find other things to do. Never asked if I wanted to order anything. Wouldn't look in my direction so I couldn't flag him. The busboy said they were very busy at the moment. They weren't. Before leaving, I mentioned something to the hostess, but she didn't care one bit. Not giving this place another chance, especially after reading other reviews of similar experiences at that place. Maybe the owners should pay more attention to what's going on at that place. read more

Jerry's has always been consistent- and was a favorite goto in the Square during pre-COVID times. Since COVID started we've had half a dozen take out meals from Jerry's which have all been great. The food has remained consistent as they've transitioned and their staff has been helpful and great. read more

The sandwiches are ok. The service is subpar. The restaurant is huge but has a weird layout. Prepare to wait 15-20 mins for your drink.

Pros: The sandwiches were good as was the potato salad side (sandwiches come with two sides). I had the jerk chicken sandwich special. The chicken was moist and nicely spiced, though the sauce a little sweet and thick. The bread was a standard sesame burger bun--toasted and okay. My friend had the zombie shrimp sandwich. Overall, it was better. (The bread a small baguette?) and braised shrimp were very good. I tried a shrimp. The sauce was good though a little salty. The place was clean and comfortable and the hostess and food runner friendly. Cons: Three of the four sides were a bit on the bland side. (Peanut pasta, baked beans, oil-heavy green salad). Not bad but nothing special. The service was very slow--must have been someone's break. After fifteen minutes I was about to go ask the hostess to send us a server when she spotted me moving and said someone would be there shortly. Our waiter came a couple minutes after and took our order. Five minutes later another waiter came and asked us if we wanted to order. The service was fine after that, though waiter #2- who apparently was supposed to be our waiter--was a little slow to give us our check. Bottom line: Very good sandwiches, hit and miss on the bread and sides, friendly but slow and disorganized service. Don't go there if you are short on time. Go if you are in no hurry. The sandwiches are good but make sure to note the kind of bread on which your sandwich is made. read more

I really miss the Aville location. The French fries there were so much better, this locations are just not the same. But this is still a great place. My favorite sandwich ever is their pickle & potato chip grilled cheese with pimento cheese spread! read more

I used to live within walking distance of Jerry's but never went there before. Went for the first time yesterday while waiting for new tires to be installed (was quite a walk). I had the Pancho V chicken sandwich with potato salad and coleslaw. The potato salad was an oil-based red potato salad with dill(?) that I really enjoyed but is probably not for everyone. Coleslaw was good and the sandwich was really good. Wish I'd gone there when I lived in the area because it definitely would have been a regular spot for me to visit. read more

I liked dining here! They have igloos which are nice in COVID-19 but my igloo did have a couple of holes in it . The waiter was great though. The giving hand who slipped food in through the tent flap. They chatted from outside the tent. Poor guy was in the cold but it was great! Be aware there is a $50 minimum and be aware that it's worth it. These waiters work hard. Food was good. Pretty good! read more

Food is good. Service is terrible. Our server Pauly took forever with our drinks and brought my friend the wrong drink. I had to catch his attention to tell him of the mistake. He came back to tell us they were out of chambord also out of her second choice Sauvignon blanc. Our chips and salsa appetizer took 30 mins and our sandwiches came out immediately after which negated the purpose of an appetizer. Not to mention chips and salsa are the easiest thing to bring out quickly, the fact that they are both already made leaves no excuses for them to take 30 mins. Pauly was extremely inattentive and we never got to see a check just rushed to pay and tip immediately. Pauly rushed us the whole time but had no sense of urgency himself. Terrible service unfortunately as good as the sandwiches were, we won't be returning. read more

The bartender was also serving all the tables. He could never provide good service, because he was swamped. Meanwhile, bussers & dishwashers were more swamped than he was. Maybe it's running on a skeleton crew, we thought? But...missing link started with the bartender. He was doing shots with the patrons. We ordered the same round three times and he kept forgetting. He was hitting on women at the bar that were put off by it, and then revenge serving them by ignoring them. Sad. Could've had 3 rounds in the time we had 1, and asked for the bill If we decide to give it another go, we will avoid it when the bartender and "manager" are there. Apparently, owners are in LA and it fucking shows. Annoying. Get it together folks! read more

Really enjoyed the Joey V sandwich with a side of fries and mac & cheese for dinner tonight. We ordered online and were able to pick up our food about 25 minutes later. The food traveled really well and was still warm once it got home. The sandwich was wrapped on its own so the fries didn't get all soggy from the sauces on the sandwich. Not the cheapest meal but everything tasted high quality. I am looking forward to ordering again! read more

A group of friends and I wandered into Jerry's after hitting up the apple fest to grab a little brunch. I wasn't all that hungry but wanted a little something so I got the macaroni and cheese plate from the starter menu. A classic and I was very impressed. My friends got a variety of sandwiches that each came with two sides which I was surprised by. People were sitting indoors and outside. We opted for outside and snagged a spot with a heat lamp. Overall, great spot and I'm looking forward to going back to try more off their very diverse menu! read more

Terrible service on a Friday afternoon. Food finally came and much spicier than thought it would be. Had to finally ask for more water. Lesson learned. Patio outside was lovely. Since moving to Lincoln Square in June 2020, this has been one of my go to spots. We have eaten inside, ordered pick up, and had delivery. All of their phases of service have been great. Everything my family has eaten has been fantastic. I personally like their tomato soup, as well as their season squash soup, and the sandwich called "Nutball C". They also have great burgers, your choice of Kobe beef or a veggie patty. Both are excellent. The beer selection is also on point. read more

We've been a fan of Jerry's....tried calling in an order tonight before everything shuts down. Was asked to hold while he completed another call in order. Sat there on hold for 5 minutes.and could hear all the comotion in the background. Hung up and tried to call back, but the line kept ringing busy for 5-10 minutes after I hung up. It was literally one of the dumbest ordering situations I've come across. read more

This review is based solely on the customer service experience I just had, which unfortunately involved no food. I have ordered delivery from Jerrys a number of times, and when I called today was told that they had changed their delivery zone and I was no longer in it. But I was then told they would make an exception this one time. Only to have them then change their mind seconds later because they decided they were too busy at that moment to make it worth their while. If you are going to offer something to a customer don't bait and switch them seconds later. I would have been fine with a simple change in zone, but the promise that was taken away really left a bad taste in my mouth. read more

We were charged 20% on our party of 6. However they charged tip on the total, including tax. I googled this later and they are Not supposed to do that. On the receipts bottom it shows the tip at the proper lower amount on the bottom where it showed suggested tips. But because they instead charged tips automatically they total it after taxes. That's wrong, and a rip off. Food was great, loved the sides. Sweet potato chunks were extra yummy. Nice vibe with a fun mix of families, hipsters and locals. Nice patio too. Full bar with lots of beers. Just fix the tip tax rip off please. It's wrong. read more

I want to thank Jerry's and the manager, Adam, for hosting my team of 16 healthcare employees for lunch. My team needed a "mental health day" and volunteered at a local food pantry, then headed to lunch in the Square. Adam made sure the restaurant could accommodate such a large group. The service and food were both excellent. The team was happy and I could not have asked for a better situation in which to thank my employees for their service to the community. Appreciate your efforts, Adam, to make sure everything was in place for a great experience! read more

We had by far the worst service ever dining experience in Chicago. When I saw this joint specialized in sandwiches I got pretty excited. If you want to know a way to my heart, just make a pretty tasty sandwich and I will be yours forever. However If you make a sandwich like I just had at Jerry's I might just have to kick you to the curb. For a joint that specializes in sandwiches they sure do seem to fail on the fundamentals of sandwich making. The bread did not seem fresh and was so small it structurally broke down after a few bites. Bread is essential to a good sandwich, a simple fresh, light bun would have done the job. Next comes the taste. I had the Ansel A. Which is a Fried Chicken Sandwich with Buffalo Sauce, Avocado, American Cheese, and Southwest Mayo. Should be pretty tasty huh? Nope. Rather boring and unmemorable. No explosions of flavor or life-changing Umamic experience. I know I could make a better sandwich at home. Furthermore for nearly $20 an epic waste of hard earned cash. It was not all bad. The interior was clean and spacious and service was fast and attentive. In fact that will save this place from getting a dreadful rating. Unfortunately this is a fundamental menu and food quality problem and not just a we-have-only-been-open-a-few-weeks-still-working-out-the-kinks-problem. My presence will not be back. read more

This is a fun and funky place we've been to on occasion. However, dining in the pandemic has increased our regard for this restaurant. We've ordered takeout many times and have been impressed by the quality of food and the fast delivery. My advice -- don't order from a delivery service; you can order from their web site. But order from them! read more

Realize this place just opened at this location, but this is not the first place opened under this banner and you should have a minimum service level expectation to open a new place (understanding there will always be some new business hitches that come up.) Was anxiously awaiting this place opening up as this store front, in a prime location in the neighborhood, has been vacant for what seems to be years. Place was busy but not packed for lunch today. (They had a whole other room that had nobody sitting in it when we arrived.) As we walked in took north of 5 minutes for anybody to even acknowledge us. Most of the staff was walking around with the overwhelmed deer in headlights look. (At one point my wife said, should we save this for another day, should have definitely gone along with that suggestion.) After being seated, nobody acknowledged our table for quite some time again. Gave us plenty of time to review the beer list and menu, which is required because the beer list is extensive but lacks any structure. The food menu has what seems like north of 40 items on it. When our waiter finally got to us, he was not flat out rude, but you could tell he was having a bad day and was not afraid if folks could see it in his mannerisms. Took our order, and it took again a very long time for the food to come out. Food was placed on our table and it was lukewarm, but worse for the experience, not very good (and the sides come in dixie cup size containers.) I will give the service issues (and the cold food) a bit of a pass as the place is new, but for the prices they are charging (not fine dining but definitely greater than standard pub grub) they have to serve higher quality product. I might stop in again for a drink, but probably won't try the food again and I definitely won't stop in again until they have some time to work things out (a couple of months at least). read more

Good size patio on the square that is a great spot for the Lincoln Square music series. Our server, Dash, was the best. Maybe the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. My wife, daughter and I came in for lunch. Server was not at all happy to be there, just wasn't friendly or had a smile on his face. Whatever, not a big deal. We ordered, and got drinks right away, but food was taking more than 45 mins. Our toddler was at her end as she was starving and bored. We finally asked a timeline on the food and the server said any minute and sorry, but a rush of customers caused a long number of tickets for the kitchen. Uh, ok, not something you say to a customer. Don't make excuses, just apologize and say it will be out ASAP or they are expediting it, whatever but telling us a BS excuse when the place wasn't that busy. 15 more mins and nothing. We finally say we'll just take it to go, as we can't wait any longer. We get food 5 minutes later and server says it wasn't his fault. Again, not something you say to a customer. He was obviously trying to make sure he got tipped. My wife talked to the manager about the entire situation and was completely unresponsive. Didn't care, didn't look at her in the eye, just said he'd look into it and then walked away. So, we get home and the food order is missing parts. No avocado on the bruschetta and I'm missing my soup. The food was awful. Borderline inedible. The fried chicken bites with the Korean bbq sauce was so disgusting we threw it out. Drenched (that's an understatement) in a incredibly salty sauce there's was no way to stomach more than a bite. My club sandwich was nothing more some crappy turkey and other usual ingredients haphazardly slapped together with some rather tangy honey mustard. This seems on par with what others are saying. It's too bad because we had some good experiences at the location on Clark. We definitely will not be coming back here and probably won't be going out of our way to go back to another location. Not worth it. Get your act together people! read more

We hike a few milles to come check out the new Jerry's location in Lincoln Square. It was super busy since the weather was so nice. It was good to see that, especially since the now closed Wicker Park location was rather sad and always empty. We got seated right away and it took about 20 minutes for our waiter to come take our order. I order the Hansel sandwich which is a buffalo chix sand on a sourdough type bread. I had mashed potatoes and mac and cheese as side dishes. The sandwich and sides where a little cold, l imagine it sat on the line for a while as they were trying to serve everyone that came in for lunch at the same time. In all, food was tasty but would have been superb had it been hot and prompt. (I imagine they are getting used to having way more traffic and take out than before) so l can understand and will definitely be back. The new location is new and clean. Lots of kids (some annoying) and some not. But lots of kids for sure. This location is more family oriented and overall okay. Hostess was moving around greeting people at the door and bringing water to guest. (I was floored) before she just sat in a dark corner up in Wicker Park and was uncomfortable to walk in and "make her get up her chair" I will be back as the sandwiches are fabulous. Will drive the 7 milles up north for sure. But will stay away from peak times for now. read more

I've been to all three locations of Jerry's. First the Wicker Park one, and later the (in my opinion, better) Andersonville location. This one is on par with the both in terms of sandwich quality, is the 2nd best in terms of beer selection, and is so far in last place in terms of management that I'd be better off comparing it to a fast food place that you'd encounter in purgatory. The service is incredibly slow, but it's through no fault of their own. It's clear that management underhired and understaffs the place, and also built a huge area with a kitchen too small to accommodate that. It's just a shame that my otherwise very good sandwich took TWO HOURS to get on a Saturday afternoon. Here are the pluses for Jerry's in Lincoln Square- the sandwiches are good, the fried food for some reason comes out 10X faster than the sandwiches, and the sides are a great add on. It also is very reasonably priced with their craft beer. Here are the negatives. A sandwich costs $12-15 which is about 2 dollars overpriced with every sandwich they offer. The bloody mary is $10 for a $7 quality Bloody Mary in an area where you can find $4 bloody marys with no difficulty. The service is atrocious and the staff is horrifically overworked. It took me 10 minutes to get seated (with plenty of seats available) 15 minutes to get attended to 20 minutes to order a second drink after finishing the first, and about 70 minutes to get my food. Part of that is that the poor BARTENDER was the guy stuck serving my section.. It's just truly baffling what the owners here are thinking. They know how to run an establishment that serves the same quality food but three times as fast, but instead they just cram as many tables into their space as they can, even though they can't actually feed everyone in a timely fashion if it's even close to full? What is going on here? I see a positive post below me by Brad P that says the people complaining about Jerry's are "entitled parents" of "spoiled brats". I can say this- I'm definitely not a parent, though I did see those customers there. But that's not the problem. The service isn't even the problem. The service just humanly can't tend to the customers because of the horrific management at play here. It's a shame to see. There are so many better options in the area to choose from. If you really want to get a Jerry's sandwich, just take a $4 uber and go to the Andersonville location instead. read more

Disappointed to say the least. For the prices they are charging the food should be considerably better, and who know you could cock up a sandwich so badly in a 'sandwich' restaurant. Yes, you'll see in the photo that the bread is nearly twice as thick as the salmon in the blackened salmon sandwich. Poor response from staff when we brought our dissatisfaction to their attention. Suffice to say I will not return, I'd recommend giving a wide berth and saving yourself $$$. Pity since the location is superb, this neighborhood deserves better. read more

Jerry's - Sandwiches Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

Thankfully I wasn't put out of by the previous bad reviews given to Jerry's. In my opinion there is absolutely nothing wrong with this restaurant nor their staff. I understand that people might have different experiences but so many bad reviews made me nervous. I'm happy to tell you after trying Jerry's for the first time with my fiancé we both believe the cosmic shift in the universe is over and Jerry's is at peace. Try it for yourself. They have a huge sandwich menu with burgers, chicken, beef, pork, fish, and veggies. It's going to be a lot of fun going through the menu. Each sandwich comes with two sides. My advice is skip the Mac&Cheese though, it was a little bland. The BBQ beans and peanut pasta sides were amazing! The sandwiches themselves were really good and the portion size is enough to make you feel more than a little full. I got the Diego R (a steak and avocado sandwich) by fiancé got the Alice W (avocado with grilled salmon), both were very good! The ambiance is both open and neat. It's a quiet place with an open patio and that open air feel. Lincoln Square is a quiet out of the way place and Jerry's fits in there perfectly! Finally the wait and the staff. Again, there was a lot of hate aimed at the staff and the service. None of this seemed deserved. Our waiter James was great! He was attentive, had good opinions, and was very friendly. Hell, his soft spoken voice seemed right at home with your quiet dinner. James, if you're reading this, thanks for the Diego suggestion. The rest as you can imagine will be just as good. The wait time was t overly long and the overall service and attention we received was what was to be expected. It's a sandwich shop not a $100 a plate high line restaurant. I had a great experience and I will be back to show love and support for Jerry's! read more

I'm glad I didn't listen to Yelpers and gave Jerry's a chance. We had a great experience- great service, food, beer, and atmosphere. Will definitely be back! Maybe I'm just a bad orderer, but 2/2 of my sandwiches have been sub par and all of my sides have been the same as well. I got a chicken sandwich which I could've made myself for $3 instead of $13 and a vegetarian sandwich that was just like a couple slices of avocado. It's like they buy the cheapest bread they can find, so again 2/2 sandwiches just completely disintegrated. I've tried the pasta salad, which was just meh, potato salad was vinegar based which I don't like, I ordered coleslaw but it was just a bowl of pickles and onions??????, and then the French fries are like frozen store bought. Again, maybe it's just me because I keep hearing good things. read more
