Jerk chicken, jerk shrimp, mac & cheese

Went back a 2nd time. Food was very good, but outrageously priced. We got 2 meals and 2 sodas. The wait was long even though there was only one other person there. They were out of almost half of the stuff we asked for. Driving from out of town that was a disappointment. We'd be back if we happen to drive by but won't be going out of the way for it.

You call this a beef patty? Where's the beef??

The Wright Way - Dry rub smoked wings

The Wright Way's Yelp profile stood out when I did a Hamden area search earlier this year. Burgers…read more Wings. A High Overall Rating. All things I love. I recently found time to visit. Wright Way is small and more functional than nice, but there is some cool branding and the place has a very friendly vibe. I'm the only person who dined in, but while I was there, there were a number of people there for takeout orders. The Wright Team was very kind and accommodating while I there. I ordered a Fungi Burger, which was a double beef smash burger, grilled onions, sautéed shrooms, garlic sauce and Swiss Cheese on a standard bun. The smash burgers were not cooked to the point of char. For a double smash burger, it didn't look particularly big, but each of the components was very good. And the burger was better than the sum of its parts. The fries were good too. I also ordered a Small Wings, with dry rub and BBQ Sauce, and Alabama Sauce (a white sauce) on the side. We must have had a misunderstanding about the sauces, because they came with dry rub and all sauces on the side. Not a big deal. I sauced the wings at the table. The wings are smoked, but there wasn't a strong smoke flavor. They had the texture of smoked wings, but the outer texture was still good too. The meat wasn't dry at all. The Wright Way was nice enough to accommodate all my crazy sauce requests. Blue Cheese or Ranch. I tried both, and I'm going to tell you that a side of Alabama White Sauce is the way to go. A nice bit of horseradish. Very flavorful. I can definitely see returning even though I don't live in the area. If you live nearby, you should definitely visit and start exploring the Burgers, Sandwiches, Wings, Breakfast Sandwiches, etc. 4.5 Stars

Monster Mouse Grillhouse

Monster Mouse Grillhouse

"Give Cheeze a Chance" is the battle cry of the Monster Mouse, a food truck dedicated to…read morecheese-based and cheese-supportive lunch creations. The truck, based in an unlikely nook along Wallingford's auto-oriented Route 5, serves up hot classics and some new treats, all along the theme of its feature ingredient. The Mouse's primary offerings include: -Specialty grilled cheese, including a variety of breads, cheese, and stuffins -Tempura Fried Cheesecake -Cheezy fries with bacon bits and jalapenos -Fried Pickles with ranch dressing -Tomato Soup The grilled cheese comes in two varieties: the basic make-your-own classic (choose yer bread, choose yer cheese, plus optional add-ins such as bacon, turkey, and caramelized onion), and a handful of specialty creations like the "Mambo Italiano" with mozzarella and fontina, roasted tomato-basil pesto, kalamata olive tapenade, and spring mix, or the "High Roller's Club" with sharp cheddar and havarti, smoked turkey, bacon, beer mustard, and spring mix. For between $5.50 (classic grilled cheese) and $8.75 (specialty sandwiches), you'll get a "Monster" sized sandwich. I got a make-your-own with whole wheat bread, swiss cheese, and turkey, plus a side of plain fries. The sandwich was proper. The bread was toasted very crispy, while the inside of the bread remained pillow soft. The cheese and turkey were ample -- no short shrift on the fillings. The turkey in particular was really good. No frills, just good construction. The fries were good too, with a really crispy exterior and soft inside, though could have done with a bit more zing in the flavor department. I bet they'd take well to a variety of seasonings (caaaajun...). In the end, I took half of my sandwich and it became dinner - these are big portions! The owners are real peaches. We had a long friendly conversation about the state of food truckery, life on the east coast and business in the cheese industry. As I waited for my sandwich, one of the owners handed me a cheese slice and told me that "we still charge you for the hole in the cheese, so here's an extra slice to make up for it". If ever there was a food truck with soul, it's here. It's kind of bizarre that this little gem is parked in a stark parking lot in the middle of auto-oriented north Wallingford, sandwiched between a fireplace store (!) and an Avis Rent-a-Car. Who'd have thought? As it turns out, you can't judge a book by its cover. It's a shame that this beauty is in Wallingford and not in Boston, where it could compete handily in the burgeoning grilled cheese food truck market (did I just write that?).
