WOW I have never eaten here before, but this was such an excellent experience. Our waiter, AARIES, was simply fantastic. He was so professional and caring all at the same time. Often times when a restaurant is slammed and literally over-busy, staff can loose their patience with patrons. Arries was exceptional the entire time we dined here. Let's open with the food ... here we are some almost 5-1/2 yrs after my initial review. It's still good. It's always good. Ambiance - yeah, getting a bit dated and worn; but, still comfortable. Service - I'm trying to be objective & give benefit of the doubt; however, cultural differences between the staff and customers is more noticeable than ever. I last visited on 1/5/2026...there was confusion after being seated on which staff person had my table as I was approached by 3 separate staff members. When this was settled, the person taking my order seemed culturally detached from serving me compared to other adjacent tables occupied by other more culturally comparable diners. Check-out was slow after I completed dining and the handheld device was just sort of thrust at me at a very challenging angle to make any entries. If you want a receipt, there's an additional wait as the server has to go to a remote terminal to retrieve it. Now the last part...I'm fully aware of commodity prices, labor costs, rent, utilities, etc.; however, the last round of menu price increases (almost $20 across the board for dumplings and/or entrees) has reached the upper limit on my budget compared to the competition in the Richardson area for comparable cuisine. The egg drop soup remains a delight...everything else makes you re-evaluate the "bang for the buck" in this genre and marketplace. read more

Jeng Chi tries to ride the line between Americanized and traditional Chinese food with surprisingly good results. When we came on a weekend night, there was about a 20 minute wait. I noticed off the bat that most diners were non-Asian and the "Americanized" food options on the menu jumped out at me, so I wondered if I'd made a mistake coming. However, I was quickly humbled after trying the orange chicken. It was actually the best orange chicken I've ever eaten, and I'd 100% order it again! Nothing like what you'd find at Panda Express (though that has its own charm). I would actually highly recommend trying it. They're also well-known for their xiaolongbao - we ordered the regular 8pc, which tasted fine but were honestly pretty small and pricey for what they are. Would probably skip next time.
