Such a cool gem of a restaurant. The servers were exceptional: kind, personable, professional, and informed. They clearly love the food and the owners. The atmosphere and neighborhood feels eclectic--post college, artsy. The actual restaurant is industrial meets neighborhood bar meets chic. The food was Amazing! The Sesame Street Fries were divine and my kids devoured them before I could go in for seconds. We ate a cheese pizza, Mongolian beef, and General Tao's Tofu. Leftovers were perfect the next day. The vibes at JenChan's could not be better. I sat outside on the gorgeous patio and enjoyed the shu mai, bao, and bacon hash browns. There is also an extensive drink menu, including a gorgeous orange blossom iced tea. Board games are inside for those who want to sit and stay awhile. I've been wanting to try this place since it opened since I live in the neighborhood and have watched this place go from a business ran out of a home a few blocks away from me to a full-on brick-and-morter. I was a little worried I hyped myself up about this place too much, but I am so happy to say I was not disappointed. The restaurant is very welcoming and family-friendly (we brought our baby and lot's of high chairs and space!), the staff is very friendly, and the food was beautiful and delicious! We ordered the Shrimp and Crispy Noodles and the Brisket Melt and a Gochugaru Chocolate Cupcake for dessert. The Shrimp and Crispy Noodles come to the table impressively high with a pitcher of warm gingery sauce to pour overtop. The sauce makes the crispy noodles softer and yet you still get some textural contrast where the sauce didn't hit. It is delicious - and tastes somewhat healthy, definitely fresh! The brisket melt was sooo gooey and delicious. As a Texan, I'm a bit of a brisket snob, and was so happy with the quality here. Just enough slop but easy to handle. And the house chips are a great accompaniment. Finished the meal with a small but scrumptious chocolate cupcake with a dusting of chili and almost as much ice cream a la mode - thanks for the healthy serving of ice cream, y'all! The chef and owner also came out to say hello and make sure everything was okay, which I appreciate - especially at a local restaurant in Cabbagetown where community is everything. Service was a tad slow, but that's also me being an impatient parent who eats quickly to get her son to bed on time! Definitely looking forward to coming back to try some of their yummy cocktails, and favorite Second Self Thai Wheat on draft! And more of their tasty and creative menu items! We'd been meaning to try this for awhile and on the night we went the Sunday before last it was pretty dead. Staff was very friendly and food came pretty fast. In the meantime it was nice to have a small play area for kids in the back. We started with some potstickers for an app and they were pretty good but very fried. Our little one didnt mind as this was one of the few things she ate so we had to order a second order (they were sweet enough to oblige our request for a half second order). On the other hand, this came out very fast the first time but very slow the second (guessing they forgot it). We tried the coconut curry and were pretty disappointed by it. It's odd that they mentioned it was a staple and a few other reviewers here mentioned it lacking flavor and being more like spicy water. The shrimp and crispy noodles was pretty good though plus they have an interesting mix of foods so I would come back. read more

Okay, I've got to be honest. I've been here twice now. Yep, I am sure it's frowned upon to give a neighborhood family-owned restaurant 3 stars. I had the pork bowl. I would guess their MIGHT have been 2-3 ounces of pork in the bowl. I am not exaggerating. I actually was looking for the protein as I thought they forgot to add it. I was pretty shocked and annoyed at the lack of pork. For $18, I'd expect to have a decent amount of protein but it appears it was mainly used for flavor, as opposed to part of the meal. It was tasty but I can't justify spending that much money on a bowl of rice with a pinch of pork. I literally went next door to Little's to get a cheeseburger as I was still hungry. Important to add, the staff was nice. But I really am disappointed at the lack of food you get for the price. Again, you've got to add more to this dish. There is more pork in one-half of a Banh mi from Pho Nam than there was in my entire dish. read more

Let me start off by saying I don't go to JenChan's near enough. It's got great food, unique flavors, and a casual/ cool/ edgy vibe perfect for a date night, happy hour, family dinner, or just for when you're hungry. I always recommend a reservation and you will benefit from making one on most nights. JenChans is almost always busy! When you first glance at the menu I recommend to stick with what made this place famous because they do that really well. The eggrolls/ bao/ wings are an amazing appetizer, the fried rice has so many options and is all cooked fresh to order, and the pizzas - let's talk about the pizza. The crust is equally doughy and crispy. The flavors are familiar and comfortable but also adventurous. The Vietnamese pork is my absolute favorite! I've tried several different pizza combinations. All are good. None are as good as the Vietnamese pork! Challenge me on this..... I've never tried the miso chocolate chip cookie as I've never had room left after a meal, but it intrigues me every time. In addition to the great food on the menu JenChans makes products to take home. The C-Town hot sauce, a selection of frozen pizzas, frozen entrees, and even steak rubs are all available. I have never regretted taking something home for later. Overall JenChans is worth a trip and I highly recommend taking up the challenge to try other pizzas to love more than my favorite. read more

My partner and I had been talking about ordering from them for a while, and finally got around to it when I was feeling sick back in February. We called up around early afternoon and one of the owners was in shop to tell us that they weren't open for lunch, but let us know that she was there prepping for dinner and offered to get together some soup for us. So in addition to being a locally owned shop, they're also delightfully kind humans who made a rad coconut curry soup. We have continued ordering occasionally from the restaurant throughout the pandemic, and after having a baby, JenChans has literally taken the place of family and friends who can't live with us and cook us meals. We order from their supper club and general store now and they make sure we get our vegetables and variety of really delicious meals that make us feel like we're cooking when we are very much doing the bare minimum. It's been maybe 2 months of pretty frequent ordering and there hasn't been a meal yet that we haven't enjoyed. Looking forward to having the world be a little less on fire so we can visit them in person, but highly recommend their little neighborhood restaurant/meal service! read more

Fun and delicious food served by lovely people. The biggest struggle is paring your order down to a slightly reasonable selection. The Street Fries, something we've been seeing on a few Atl menus, are executed wonderfully here - with nice touches like daikon brightening up the indulgence. The Shrimp Po'boy has a bit of a banh mi influence and, much to my constant delight, includes peanuts to add some fun texture. I've literally had dreams about it. I can also give hearty recommendations to the Corn Fritters, Pizza Egg Rolls, and the Asian Wings They've recently added a pizza oven and while so far we have only tried a pretty traditional one, we'll be taking advantage of the more creative options soon. COVID has taken its toll on restaurants, but these guys are getting top notch food delivered to you quickly and at reasonable prices. Review is for delivery. I'm pretty understanding about the effect of time on certain dishes and rarely have problems with temp.and texture. While the food is delicious, some dishes aren't suited for the time it takes to be delivered. Fried Maitake Mushrooms and the sauce are very tasty but the time it took to get them made them soggy and limp. I'm sure these are killer at the restaurant. Shumai Appetizer dumplings are delicious. I don't at all mind cold dumplings. These rate among the best you can get. General Tsao's Chicken was great. Coco Curry Noodle while the flavor is totally there I cannot recommend for delivery. The noodles were practically congealed into a large blob of deliciousness. I was unable to enjoy them as noodles. Anyone with texture issues should not try these from delivery. The portion sizes of the mains are smaller than traditional east Asian eateries, but the flavors exceed them. I'm going to this place asap. read more

Dough was a little greasy though (tasted like it might have been pan-fried). The bowl my husband got also was really good but it was SPICY.
