I absolutely love the aesthetic and intimate vibe at Ruby Chow's. It's elevated, moody, and the perfect spot for a girls' night, date night, or even a solo dinner. I've been twice now and have had the chance to sit both upstairs and downstairs, and each experience has been amazing. The service? Easily a 10/10. On my most recent visit, I ordered the Mango Sticky Rice Martini and the Lychee Martini. Ruby's bartender is truly A1....they know exactly what they're doing. Both cocktails were balanced, creative, and so good. For food, we ordered the Brussels sprouts, Pow Pow Shrimp, Dan Dan Noodles, Miso Cod, and Chicken Satay. Every single dish was a 10/10...except for the Miso Cod. Unfortunately, it didn't taste as fresh as I expected and had a slightly fishier flavor than I prefer. I was definitely a little disappointed, but thankfully every other dish more than made up for it. Overall, Ruby Chow's continues to be one of my favorite Asian fusion spots in Atlanta. This is a very cute restaurant! Moody and sexy which is perfect for a girls night out, date, etc. I started at the bar while waiting on my friend. I ordered the salmon hand roll for $8 (happy hour special). I found the hand roll to have a LOT of rice and a little salmon. I think $4-5 is a better price point. They also had drink specials and it looks like wine specials on Wednesday's (I overheard a couple saying it--it was not offered by the bartender, which I found interesting). For Happy Hour I think their prices are excessive - with $14 for drinks and $8+ for tiny apps. I found service to be good. It took a long time for the hand roll to come out (over 25 minutes). When my friend arrived we both ordered the lobster fried rice dish. I could smell the rice was burned and it was when I tasted it. The server quickly replaced it and the new dish was fine and came out relatively quickly (much quicker than a raw hand roll). They also have valet which is $5 and I think you can park for the same cost as well. I found the restaurant to be very cute, food was good, but I wouldn't go out my way to return. read more

I finally tried this place recently with a couple of other friends since others recommended it to me. I absolutely loved the decor and overall vibe of the place. My friends and I decided on splitting the appetizers as well as a large plate since they are family style. We ordered the bang bang shrimp, roasted bone marrow, spicy tuna roll, and the crying tiger steak. The bang bang shrimp was perfectly fried, and the sauce was addicting! The roasted bone marrow was so deliciously that we found ourselves scraping as much as we could get. The only downside is that we were expecting to get 3 of these since we know of others that received a total of 3, but our server informed us that it depends on the size that they get for that day--if they're big, they only serve two, and they serve 3 if they're on the smaller side. The spicy tuna roll was just ok. I've had better, fresher tasting ones. Lastly, the crying tiger steak was the undeniable star of the dish! The steak was cooked perfectly, and the sauce was packed full of flavor! I need the recipe for this! The only downside of this place is that it seems overpriced for how much food you receive. We reserved and went on our anniversary and loved everything about this place! It's upscale Chinese food with a few experimental changes that work really well. We had to pay for valet parking. The outside dining area didn't seem open but still looked amazingly cute. The entrance was hard to find but once we got in, the decor looked stunning. I am between 4 and 5 stars for Ruby Chow's but I'm going with 4 stars due to the overall value. The food here is absolutely incredible. We did not have a single bad dish. The bone marrow was outstanding, as was the bang bang shrimp - I'm still thinking about it after leaving - and the crying tiger. We did medium rare for the crying tiger and it was cooked to perfection and melted in your mouth with a phenomenal sauce to go on it. All that being said, the dishes were all very small and pricey. The plates that are called "shareable" are really a normal sized dish for only one person so come here expecting to pay a decent amount if you want to leave full. The overall decor of the place is very cute. There's flowers painted on the walls and it seems like a classy spot. The menu is Chinese and Asian fusion, and a short list of sushi. Chinese is always meant to be shared. We had the miso truffle salmon and each of the steam buns to start. I thought the salmon was very good, I do not normally like capers, but liked the way they prepared them. The katsu was probably the best of the buns, nicely crispy. The tofu was good a well, with a nice kick, the young one in our group found it too spicy. I would not order the short rib again, it was fine, but I've had much better short rib. We then had the chicken satay, roti canai, and the miso cod. The chicken satay had good flavor, and paired well with the peanut sauce and pickles. I did find it a bit too fatty. The miso cod was perfectly cooked, and the flavor was just right. Note that it is a very small portion. The best dish was the roti, a yellow curry with chicken and veggies with two flaky peice of roti. So good. The star of the meal though was the mango sticky rice, with sorbet and small bits of mochi. This is one of the best versions I've ever had. Do not miss this dessert! The issue I had with our visit is we, a group of three, were seated by the door, which was also near the kitchen door. The seating felt cramped, and every few minutes one of the doors was slamming, which made it a less pleasant experience. I actually got a text about 30 mins before our reservation that our table is ready, which worked out perfectly because we were just waiting around anyway. We were seated right away upon checking in. Katsu bao (4/5): good seasoning, fluffy bun, could use a bit more slaw/crunch Maitake mushroom (5/5): crispy and fried but not greasy, good serving size and well seasoned Scallops (3/5): three scallops that are over salted and nondescript sauce/mushrooms Squash soup: (4/5) corn soup was out. We were a party of 8 people! The wait time was a bit long but they were able to accommodate our party in a small setting since all of the tables would normally seat about 2 people. I didn't take any pictures of the food because I was pretty hungry but we had the basil chicken, Roti Canai, Brussel sprouts, Szechuan green beans, & I believe the shaking beef! All the dishes were very good my favorites were the beef, green beans and the basil chicken! Came here for dinner with colleagues and I was visiting atlanta. It is asian style tapas and I was shocked with how good it was! We came at 5:30 on a tuesday wit a reservation and it was pretty empty, but slowly started to get busy during normal dinner time hours (6-7pm). The Katsu bao and the maitake mushrooms are a MUST get. Everything else was solid as well but that katsu was cooked to perfection. One thing I will say though is that even for tapas, the price is pretty expensive for the quantity you get. I was most disappointed in the shaking beef, being 18 dollars and getting about 10 pieces of beef that couldn't be more than 3-4oz all together. The service was great though and i liked the ambiance of the restaurant. I definitely would come again to try other dishes if I am ever back in atlanta, i just wish the prices were a little bit more affordable. read more

While definitely not a kid-focused restaurant, the staff was incredibly welcoming--even with our toddler. What really stood out was their hospitality: they were fully booked, but when a reserved table was going to be empty for nearly an hour, they graciously offered it to us instead of turning us away. That small act made a big impression. Now, the food--wow. Every single dish blew us away. The seared scallops were melt-in-your-mouth perfection, the crispy rolls and roti canai were packed with flavor, and the shaking beef and crispy rice salad were serious standouts. We wrapped it up with mango sticky rice that was the perfect balance of sweet and satisfying. Just a heads-up: it's small plate (tapas-style), so plan to order a few! We had reservations so we were promptly seated (albeit right behind the curtain to the door). Our server gave us the menu, and brought us some water till we made up our minds. I chose to keep it a libation free night. For the food we opted to try a few things (given its tapas style menu and portions I'd recommend trying to bunch of items). We got the katsu bun, which came out hot, pillowy, and stuffed with crispy, juicy pork -- solid way to kick things off. The shoyu tomago (marinated soft-boiled egg) was simple but packed with umami. It's a hit if you like the little details done right. We also got the roti canai - the roti was flaky and buttery, and the curry dip had just enough heat to keep things interesting. Probably my favorite bite of the night -- comforting and bold at the same time. We also ordered the pow pow shrimp, which i gobbled down in a jiffy! Crunchy, saucy, and addictive. It's not too often I am able to say with full confidence I have a favorite restaurant. Ruby Chow, Brian and Keanna, more than delivered to make me feel as though I have found my new favorite. The menu was overwhelming in the best way. You simply just have to order it all, or come often. We ended up ordering from each section with great recommendations from Keanna. For the cocktail selection, Brian himself creates them and you can tell he is truly gifted when it comes to the perfect balance of the cocktails we tried. He was even kind enough to create a special one for us that included lychee, need I say more? This was a birthday celebration with a friend and honestly the perfect place for a celebration.
