Came here for my check up and had a great experience like always! Dr Gaule is very kind and Elena is the sweetest!!! They are such a lovely duo and I will continue to come here even after moving to Wicker Park. My mouth is always clean after and Dr Gaule is very gentle. Masks are required until you are seated in the dental chair and everything is sanitized in between! You also use a specific mouthwash prior to cleaning to assist with deterring covid and bacteria. Dr. Gaule is the best in the business. When I first went to him, there was a small chip on the side of my front tooth. He asked me if he could fix it and I told him that others had tried but the small filing they put on came off within a few months. The previous dentist told me that given its position on my front tooth, there wasn't much he could do. Dr. Gaule said let me try! 6 years later, the fix he made that day has remained intact without a chip in place. I cannot recommend Dr. Gaule or the practice more. His lovely wife, Elena, works the reception desk and they really do treat you like friends and family. I went to Dr. Gaule after my boss forced me by actually making the appointment for me. You see, I hadn't been in a while and was too scared to go, so by not making the appointment, I remained in my comfort zone, until my boss kicked my ass out of it. The dentist does the work himself, including the simple cleanings. Yep, you won't get an appointment with only the dental hygienist here. Instead, your appointment with Dr. Gaule will be with Dr. Gaule. Both rooms have an Old Hollywood feel to them so you have something to stare at while getting your pearly whites spic and spanned. UPDATE: After going to him a few times, I decided to drop my stars because I cannot help but feel he is trying to "sell" me on something every single time. My teeth have (thankfully) always been in perfect shape, no cavaties, no needed work, nothing of the sort. But each time, Dr. Gaule has tried to get me to get something unnecessary done. The first few times he kept pushing for a nightguard, which he now says I don't need (thank god I didn't give in!). I don't grind my teeth, nor do I have any jaw or teeth problems so it didn't seem valid or necessary - especially when it would cost upwards of $400! It seems since I am not providing him work in the cavity/root canal sense, he is trying to obtain it in any other possible way to make a quick buck and that's just not cool... especially when there's no reasonable need for such. read more

I was just a walk-in because I noticed this beautiful, modern dentist office from the street. I needed to find a better dentist and thought I would go in and try. I was extremely pleased with everything I saw and the treatment I got from everyone there. The massaging chairs are amazing - they take your mind off anything that's about to happen to you! I got my teeth cleaned, I got x-rays, I got a cavity filled with the recommendation of getting a crown on another tooth before anything went bad with it. I told the Dr. that I would have to wait until December before that happened because my car will be paid off in November. No problem. Well, another crown that I had done a long time ago had just come out in the meantime and I went to him to get it glued back in. Two days later it came off again. SO, this meant he had to rebuild the tooth a little and prep me for a brand new crown. It was inevitable. Money is tight for me because I got laid off in June 2010. I have a part-time job but things are very different at the moment for me. I conveyed all of this from the very beginning to the doctor and the receptionist/money natzi. She said "We will work with you". I offered a $100 dollar payment and was told that "$100 is nice, but....". My crown finally came in today and I was scheduled to get it put in today. I go to the office and the receptionist/money natzi told me that "I WOULD HAVE TO PAY $400 TO GET MY CROWN TODAY". She said that "Mrs. Gaule said that I would pay $400 today and then $200 each month after". I was FURIOUS! She sprang that on me the day of! If I had known that in advance, I would have rescheduled my appointment for a later time, hoping my temporary holds. I NEVER PROMISED TO PAY THAT AND THEY SAID THAT SHE HEARD I DID. WHAT PART OF "WE'LL WORK WITH YOU" DOES THAT CONVEY? So, basically, I have a crown waiting for me as soon as I come up with $400. Even though they received the majority of the money from my insurance, they will not finish the work until I "WORK WITH THEIR" payment plan for me. At least it's clear to me now. I got lured in by the really nice office and their willingness to get me in the chair, but now I feel nothing but trapped and blackmailed basically. So, at least I know that I can pay for my rent and insurance and food, hoping my temporary holds up. Maybe I'll get my crown as a very late Christmas present to myself. Unless they decide to "WORK WITH ME" like they said before they blackmailed me. I apologize for such a long review, but I needed to vent and tell the whole story. I feel totally blind-sided by them and didn't see this coming. If and when I get my crown, I will NOT be going back to them...I am someone who gives praise all the time to people and businesses when they do good. It's what business is all about and it's what keeps people coming back for more. I could not let this go unnoticed. read more

Dr. Gaule is a great dentist (and I don't like going to the dentist so it means a lot coming from me!). He's friendly and very competent, and so are the dental hygienists. I have a very low pain tolerance and have never been uncomfortable during or after any procedure. And as a bonus, he office space is new, very clean and modern with top of the line equipment. They have a great waiting area (every magazine you can imagine) and Keurig machine, but unfortunately I've never been able to enjoy it because they always run on schedule, so I haven't had to wait. read more

Where to start...Dr. Gaule is wonderful. I just started going to him after going to a dentist in my hometown my entire life. Dr. Gaule and staff helped me feel right at home (or as home as you can feel in a dentist office). He explained to me the procedures that he would be doing. His staff made sure my insurance covered what was being done. He did several fillings for me and my teeth look fantastic. It didn't hurt at all! I WAS a patient of Dr. Gaule ever since his first practice location on Lincoln Ave, in a professional building, that's back in the early 1980s. (approx.28 years!) My God given teeth, looked like mini vampire teeth, and Dr. Gaule performed cosmetic dentistry and gave me a beautiful smile. I have four sons, and we were all patients of Dr. Gaule. I recommended him highly to relatives and friends. His newest office on Belmont Ave. is gorgeous, from the choice of flooring, color combinations, cabinets, and message chair which is very comfortable. I am currently a State of IL employee, as we know the state is behind on paying their bills. Even though I have dental insurance, Dr Gaule's practice does not accept patients with State of IL insurance and although I had been a patient for near 28 years, to pay Dr. Gaule, I had to open a MedicCredit Card, so they could pay Dr. Gaule in Full, I pay monthly installments to the credit card and I had to wait to get reimbursed for 'covered' dental work from the State of IL, which was approximate six months. In 2010, Dr. Gaule sold me an appliance for my teeth called "Snap-It" - the latest technology for a bridge. Cost me out of pocket $1,600!!! WORST dental appliance ever. They are unnatural looking, will stain with certain foods like spaghetti or drinks - mango smoothie and give me dry mouth. I hate this appliance and I still have two more payments to make! The last time I received a phone call from Dr. Gaule's office was back in August 2011. The dental assistant Toni called to ask, Are you going to have your teeth cleaned or are you not going to have your teeth cleaned until Dr. Gaule calls you back regarding the Snap-it? I replied the later "not". Dr. Gaule has NOT telephoned me to offer an alternative solution. I hope this is helpful to you the reader. You decide. Meanwhile, I was very lucky to find a new dentist who participates with my insurance. Everything in the office is State of the Art, the staff is very pleasant and one block away from Dr. Gaule's office. read more

I went to Dr. Guale on an emergency basis the very first time. I called on a early Saturday morning with severe pain and Dr. Guale was able to fit me in. I was grateful that they could squeeze me in. when I first arrived the dental office, I was impressed on how nice, clean and polished the office looks as well as his equipment being up to date. I found not only Dr. Guale to be very professional, informative but also treated me with a personable approached that I have not seen in a dental office in a long time. Dr. Gaule and his staff are wonderful! I have struggled to find a dentist in Chicago who keeps up on new developments, is professional and has a wonderful staff to back him up. With Dr. Gaule, I found all of that and more. Based on glowing reviews, I went to Dr. Gaule last summer to have a routine cleaning/checkup and to have some amalgam fillings replaced with composite fillings. Toni, the receptionist, was very friendly and warm. She also did a wonderful job in helping ensure that my out of pocket cost was kept to a minimum. The hygienist did a wonderful job cleaning my teeth, and the x-rays, which can be very uncomfortable for me, were done with great ease. Dr. Gaule's work in replacing my fillings is sheer artistry. I had a dental emergency and called quite a few dentist offices to see who could get me in the fastest. Dr. Gaules office said they could get me in that afternoon. AWESOME! I arrived to a very peaceful office that put me at ease and after having Dr. Gaule fix my chipped tooth, I was good to go. Everyone gets a little tense at the dentist, probably because someone is playing in your mouth with sharp sticks and drills. But, Dr. Gaule was very nice about keeping you informed to whats going on when he has to do something. There are only two people at the office that work with you, the receptionist/ dental assistant and Dr. Gaule himself. all work is performed by Dr. Gaule and he does great work. His office has a lot of high tech tools in it. He will show you using cameras and other devices just what is going on in your mouth so you dont think he is making it up. He was never pushy about getting more work done as some dentists are, just lets you know whats happening in your mouth. I am very glad I went to Dr. Gaule for my dental needs and will continue to go. This guy is a hack. He sliced my tongue open and still charged me for the session. Two weeks of no talking or eating and this chump only worried about not embarrassing himself in front of his assistant. I easily could have been in trouble because of infection, which he did not mention, but thankfully my father-in-law is an ortho. He was disgusted by this guy's actions and his poor work.
