Five stars all day!!! My situation started in July 2024 when…read moremy transmission went out on a road trip through Northern California. I was towed into Hartnell Transmission and met Dale. Unfortunately I needed a whole new transmission and had to leave the truck for a few days. Dale was extremely fair and honest, and did a fantastic job rebuilding my transmission. It even came with a 2-year warranty !! Fast forward to this week. The new transmission has been great but we experienced a minor issue. I gave Dale a call and he recommended two transmission shops in Reno where we could take the truck to be checked. The shop I chose stated the transmission was damaged beyond repair due to a clogged air filter and would not be covered under warranty. This made no sense!! I called Dale at Hartnell and relayed the message. Dale assured me that any issues with the new transmission would be covered. Dale called the other shop and ultimately paid for the diagnosis and asked that I take the truck out of that shop and take it to the other for a second opinion. Turns out there is no serious issue after all and the transmission was given a clean bill of health. I appreciate Dale's professionalism and excellent customer service. Now, I wish my transmission never died, but since it did, I'm very happy it ended up at Hartnell transmission. Thank you Dale!!!!!

Roy being a mobile service was such a god send for us as we were traveling with 2 kids and a large dog. We didn't have to Uber back and forth from an auto shop to the hotel and back again which cut out so much stress from an already stressful situation. Tips: I would recommend texting Roy if he doesn't pick up. Depending on the time of day, he can be a one man show and not able to pick up the call right away.

(4WD, locked in first gear) It was Saturday afternoon and "Frank" was up to his elbows in another transmission. He listened to my sob story and quoted a fair price for a complete rebuild. We left my truck with him and his help gave us a ride to Enterprise for a rent-a-dent. Monday afternoon I returned my rental and hung out in the shop while Frank installed my rebuilt transmission. Let me tell you, this is not shade tree mechanic's work. I was impressed by the skill and professional integrity I was privy to. The shop floor may be a mess, but the work coming out of it is first class. We live on a mountain top outside of Weaverville and we'd have been stranded this winter without our 4WD truck. Thanks to California Transmissions we haven't missed a beat.

If you purchase tires like I did at America's Tire or also known as Discount Tire out side of California, you get free rotation and rebalancing for the life of the tires. Free flat repair as well! I rotate every 7000 miles or so. It does actually even out the tread wear, so you'll get more life out of the tires. Making the appointment was easy and as long as you can plan ahead a little, you can get the time of the day you want too. I just brought my car in at the appointed time and they took me in right away. They first come out to the car and check the tread wear and mileage and stuff. The waiting room is clean and has good places to sit and wait. The WIFI works fine for web browsing and email, but really not fast enough to stream movies or anything like that. I like to sit and write my Yelp reviews while I wait. I watch my car taken into the service bay and two guys go to work on it, almost like a NASCAR pit stop. Up goes the car and bam bam bam, off go the wheels and rolled over to the balancing machine. When the tire techs finish balancing and re bolting on the wheels, they do the final tightening with a torque wrench instead of like a lot of places just blast on the bolts with the air wrench, zap zap zap and done. Using the torque wrench they make sure it's not over tightened, especially if you have to change a tire in an emergency out on the road and it too damn tight! I'm in and out in about 45 minutes, all balanced and rotated for FREE! You can go to any store location no matter which location you purchased your tires. You can't beat that deal!

Although I had an appointment when I brought it in to have it repaired, I was told there's a chance they might not get to it that day. (It wasn't an urgent issue...why make an appointment if your schedule is full??) When I picked up my car after hours, the lockbox where my key was stored was left unlocked, and my car was also unlocked. And finally, after having my bakes serviced, the lug nut key was missing...requiring another trip back to the shop to pick it up. Overall, a frustrating experience.

We were driving up toward Mt. Lassen when our pickup developed trouble - we were able to limp back to Redding, but it was after hours, so we found a hotel for the night. That night, we made several calls to friends in the area - they all recommended JSD. The next morning, we were there at when they opened. Jeremy took us right in and understood our situation. His guys went right to to work diagnosing, then repairing our problem and they finished the job quickly, having kept us updated the whole time. I felt that the labor cost and repair time was better than reasonable, and that the professionalism and experience was excellent and actually could not have been better. Lastly, as a bonus, Jeremy counseled us on future repair and upgrade ideas. Although the whole event was inconvenient to our travel plans, we felt great in knowing what exactly went wrong and how to prevent future problems. We highly recommend JSD! read more

I contacted AAA and had the truck towed 80 miles to R & R. Kevin called 2 days later to tell me that it had a broken exhaust pipe at the manifold, and they could repair it for $450. We drove from Grants Pass back to Shasta Lake to pick it up and headed back towards home. About 5 miles from home the truck started making the exact same noise. When I got it it home I pulled the exhaust/catalytic converters and discovered the repair had failed. I contacted Kevin and he asked what I wanted to do. I told him I would order a new exhaust/catalytic converter and install it myself, because I didn't want to drive the 2 1/2 hours back to the shop. Kevin told me to order the parts and he would reimburse me the entire amount, which I did. I provided the amount to Kevin and received a check from him in a few days. Not only did Kevin stand behind his work, he went the extra mile by reimbursing me for the parts. I can't say enough about the level of customer service Kevin provided! I highly recommend them as a trustworthy shop.

I want to go anywhere except R&R. My partner decides to go back to R&R because the first oil change was included in the original price we paid. So he goes. Nope $79! Also Rick is great at sounding reasonable but in reality once challenged or questioned he sulks and grumbles. I know rebuild take time and I know how old my suzuki is. I find it interesting that there is no mention of the fact the gaskets blew because after a previous repair the idle was so high it blew them. FRO!

I told them not to touch it anymore and that i would be there to pick it up. I asked for paperwork but they would not give it to me. My car currently runs fine btw. I do not recommend going there. They will add more and more to your bill. It is a shady business in my opinion.

Immediately helpful and professional. Chris said they do this kind of work all the time and install DOT legal headlights on older Shasta County Search and Rescue vehicles. Every single question I asked was answered. I live 4 hours away from Redding so coordinating this was somewhat of a Challenge. Chris even told me my mom's car had loud squeeking brakes and he would inspect those as well. Strong Automotive has high stars so I'm guessing their body work is pretty good but customer service is also very important and in this department, they have a long way to go.
