I will never go to this shop again. My 2004 Honda Element overheated in May 2026. It was towed to Bryant Automotive. I told them I feared a blown engine. They convinced me the engine appeared to be ok. I paid them $1151 for a new radiator, radiator cap, and thermostat. It drove okay for fewer than 30 miles, then it overheated again. Towed back to Bryant. This time: "Yup. You do need a new engine. Estimate: $8,000." Way more than what the old car was worth. What a waste to pay for parts and repairs that did not solve the problem based on their mistake in not testing the engine compression! read more

Wasted my time and money. I told them from the start I needed my AC compressor switched, and brought the new one with me. They said they would have to look at the car first- no problem. Kept my car all day on a Thursday only to find out they aren't open on Friday and they won't use parts they didn't order. I have no qualms with that policy, but to not have been upfront about that from the beginning means I wasted my money on the diagnostic and time it took when I could have taken it elsewhere from the start. This policy should have been mentioned from the beginning when I had brought up that I brought the part needed no less than two times in conversation over the phone and when I dropped it off. read more

I unfortunately had my transmission die my on way back to LA leaving me stranded in Redding. Bryant was able to get me in the next day to have someone take a look. Although the repairs were going to cost too much to justify doing, they were so incredibly kind and helpful. They gave me a ride to the rental car place and gave me some contacts for local salvage yards as well as let me leave my dead car there while i figured out a solution. I hope, my friends, that your usually dependable van doesn't EVER breakdown midway between Olympia and Tucson on the way to a show. However, if you do breakdown near Redding, there's good news! I'm here to tell you about a legendary repair shop/Bonneville Salt Flats poster museum. Yes! Racing posters are a thing, and Bryants has them! Our van was towed to Bryants from Cottonwood by AAA (great as usual). Other than being promised "Priority Service" by AAA, we had no reason NOT to panic, so we did. Soon enough Mac told us that indeed, roadside emergencies ARE moved straight to the head of the line. 2 hours later, our fuel injectors were repaired and we were back on I-5, which felt like a near miracle people. They seem to mostly work on stock (unmodified) cars, so when I wanted to have aftermarket suspension items installed, they offered suggestions (another shop). Wow, where do I start? How about I was on my way to Lake Shasta last Thursday, July 13, towing my Malibu Wakesetter when after filling up with gas in Redding, my truck decided it wasn't going to start :-( Long story short, AAA had recommended Bryant Automotive which just happened to be across the street from where I broke down. I should mention that after a couple attempts to start the truck, white smoke began to emit from under the hood. Heavy electrical burning odor and I was anticipating a costly repair. Steve at Bryant said, tow it over here and we can check it out first thing in the morning. Here is where I need to slam Crown Ford in Redding.....They said, sure, tow it over here, and we can look at it next week. Really? That just wasn't going to work and their excuse of being short staffed was fine and dandy, but honestly, when a situation like this occurs, I would expect the dealership service department to understand that this was an unusual emergency and help, but No. Steve called me the next morning at 830am and advised that my starter had fried and I was in luck as they had the only replacement starter in Redding. My truck was repaired by 930am on Friday morning. Unbelievable service. Now, knowing that at some point in the near future, I plan to build my Shasta retirement home and reside in Lakehead, if I ever have any need for service, Bryant Automotive will have my business. This family owned business is honest, reasonable and reliable. They could have taken advantage of me today and charged me $170 for a diagnostic for my Honda Fit, but they didn't find anything wrong with the starting electronics so they waived the entire fee for the diagnostic test. I bought an aftermarket key fob a few months ago and it was not functioning correctly. The locksmith told me these aftermarket products are not always reliable. I should have taken his advice and got the key fob from the Honda dealership. I have been taking all my vehicles to Bryant since we moved up here over 20 years ago. Oh, and also, they could have taken advantage of me when I said I may be due for an oil change while I have my car there. He checked and said I can wait a month or two longer because I use the full synthetic oil and it lasts longer than 3,000 miles. They are very helpful, knowledgeable and I have to say it again, Very Honest! Thanks for all the car care. I highly recommend their business and I'll be back. read more

I've been putting this review off for a couple years now. I took my Chevy Cruze to these people after Jiffy Lube messed up the cooling system on my car. Even though Jiffy messed it up, they recommended Bryant Auto to get it fixed. I should have never followed a recommendation from a place that screwed up my car in the first place, because...The mechanic at Bryan Auto told me the head gasket was going out, saying he found gas in my oil. Not wanting to pay almost 7 grand to have the head gasket replaced, I elected to get the $2,500.00+ repair on the cooling system instead. A month goes by and the coolant was still leaking for my car (just like before I took it to Bryant). Rather than take it back to Bryant auto to have them re-fix it (I heard stories on how they try to shift the blame on the customer), I elected to take it to Big O'Tire instead. They fixed it proper and said there is NO SIGHN of the head gasket going out and the cooling system repair that Bryant did was NOT DONE properly, in fact, they questioned whether or not it had even been touched/fixed. I did plan to take Bryant auto to small claims court to get my money back, but got sidetracked with life and now the statute of limitation may be over, so I figure this review will be sufficient. Anyway, a word to the wise; Do not trust these people and always get a second opinion on expensive estimates. Also, I am now going to Keith's Automotive right down the street for my car repairs. They seem to have their act together, unlike Byant Automotive. read more

It was very bad luck that my mother's X3 BMW (that I was driving home from Oregon to the Bay Area) broke down on I-5 near Shasta Lake, but soon after we were very lucky to find Bryant's Automotive. AAA suggested Bryant's and said they worked on European autos, so I had the tow truck driver drop the car off. It was Sunday so the shop was closed. I got a hotel room and at 7:30 the next morning checked in with Bryant's. From there on out Steve did everything he could to keep me informed about timing as he ordered the necessary parts for the fuel injection repair and to get me on the road again as soon as possible. He was thorough and kept me apprised of what was going on. And, miracle of miracles, the price came in lower than the estimate! (Honestly, I think that's a first). I hope your car doesn't break down on I-5 near Redding, but if it does, I highly recommend Bryant's. read more

It's a long story but to say we were "lucky" that Bryant Automotive was there is an understatement. Steve was our contact and was very efficient and considerate. It only took them one day to fix our car including getting a part from Jeep in Chico (70 miles away). They kept us updated on the progress and it was done when they said it would be. The cost to repair our Jeep was very reasonable for labor, parts and freight (to get our part from Chico). BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE AT A AUTO REPAIR SHOP EVER. Ok guys, so I'm from SLO, CA and I was traveling/ moving to Seattle, WA. Decided to stop in Redding to try to go to a Bethel Church service Wednesday night. I parked in front of a starbucks to get something to drink before I head over to the church service after a full day of driving. And right when I turn off my car, something popped, loads of steam came a rushing, and I just sat there. After I stare in awe for about 30 seconds, I walk out to find a huge stream of "IDK WHAT" coming out of my car from below. I had a meltdown. Because I planned my trip perfectly and hung on, on a prayer, hoping THIS wouldn't happen. Because I didn't have any extra money. Called AAA, got my car towed to one their approved auto shops. When they told me BRYANTS AUTOMOTIVE, I looked up yelp reviews, and I was super skeptical, and nervous! Thinking to myself, I really hope they are not the type of guys to rip you off and take your money. The reviews were not to my standards!! Haha. And while I was riding with the driver, remembering that is was "after hours".. I asked the driver nervously if this place was even open (as we are already on our way there). He said he doesn't think so. I died inside. We get there, and to my surprise the gate was still open and I saw a couple workers there! The tow truck driver said he would talk to them (probably seeing the state I was in) and I get out the tow truck a couple minutes late to head over to them, to see what was gonna happen next. A man (front desk guy) asked me to come to the office with him to check me in. He told me they couldn't do anything that night but they could check my car in. I was out of it. I didn't have anywhere to stay that night. Didn't want to spend extra money I didn't have. But had to stay somewhere. So I tried to hurry and find a cheap hotel. And the man was so very helpful! He saw how stressed out I was and I know this sounds funny, but you can tell he was a father and he showed me that kind of compassion. He offered to drive me around until we found a cheap hotel, he carried my bags.. And when we got to motel 6, he even offered to PAY. He probably thought I was crying because I was so stressed out, but his giving and compassionate heart made the circumstances a lot lighter. Although I didn't let him pay for my room. I was so touched by the offer and everything he did that evening that he didn't have to. That wasn't apart of his job. Because I have already been rambling I'll try to long story short the rest! The next day they thought they didn't have time for me because they were booked for the next week! So I could a few places and found someone else. I went the Bryant's to get my keys, and front desk guy #2 notified me (9:30am) that they already diagnosed it and they can get it fixed by 12!! THEY MADE TIME FOR ME. Anyway.. This was all seriously an answered prayer. I prayed it would all be less than $400 and they get it done by 12 so I don't have to drive late for the rest of my trip. And it all worked out! Originally they said it was gonna be $250 and then when I called to see if it was ready he said it was gonna be cheaper, like $150 and when I asked why it was cheaper they said they wanted to SAVE ME MONEY. Key words right there. NEVER have I ever haha heard those words coming out of a auto technicians mouth! All to say. I was VERY VERY VERRRY happy with my experience there. AND made it safely (9 hrs of driving left) to Seattle! They were all so very sweet and the front desk guy #2 (name I forgot ) told me to call him when I make it to Seattle safely! They called us first thing this morning. They were super knowledgeable and went out of their way to fix our van quickly. Fred at Bryant Automotive was awesome!! My daughter is a student at Simpson University and started having car problems. Not knowing the Redding area that well, we took the advice of her fellow classmate who had recommended we go to Bryant's to get the car checked out. After reading the reviews on Yelp I contacted them and spoke with Fred. I explained the situation to him over the phone and he told me to have her bring it in. He told me that he had daughters around the same age as mine and would be checking the car as if it was for them. This gave me great comfort! He explained the repairs in great detail and told us to check back with him if we had questions or if we needed service in the future. They were very professional, informative and honest! My daughter was very comfortable going there and said they were SUPER nice!! I have to write an update to my original review. A follow up to the original appointment was necessary and the owner Jeff went above and beyond with making sure everything thing checked out. My air conditioning went out on one of the hottest days here in Reading recently! I think it was 109 here that day!!! The nice folks at Bryant Automotive got me in, got the problem diagnosed and fixed and got me back on the road in less than one day! What's more, the vents are kicking out colder air than I ever remember them having. I appreciate that they started with the least expensive solution and worked up from there. I snapped a serpentine belt on I-5 late on a Thursday afternoon. The tow truck driver from Keith's towing recommended that I go to Bryant's Automotive. I was on my way home to Crescent City and unfamiliar with auto shops in the area. We arrived after closing on an extremely hot day but I was able to talk to Jeff as he was working late. Even though they were busy, they got me in first thing in the morning and were able to locate all necessary parts. They were very upfront and honest and kept me posted how things were going since I was camped out in their lobby with by suitcases. They not only got me out by 4 but also took care of a pre-trip inspection and oil change. I highly recommend their shop because of their attitude, service and reasonable prices. read more

Wow. My hubby and I brought our truck to Bryant's when it was having some issues, you know like, not going "vroom vroom" for no reason. We were blown away by the professionalism of the employees we worked with there. They let us know what our primary problems were and helped us figure out what we should do first. This place has been great to me. I have brought all of our cars in here. They are very nice and professional. They really are interested in making your car run good and last as long as possible. Sure they let you know when things need done but I really think they only tell you that because stuff really does need done. On a couple of occasions they have notified me of issues that are going on with my car but then told me I did not need to address them right away. I think overall they just hit all the things that are important to me in a mechanic. They are honest, professional, get things done pretty quick and do a great job.
