I kindly asked " do you recommend anyone else that will do this work for me?". Immediate "nope, you'll just have to call around" They were about as helpful as a broken fence post and could care less in my opinion. My next phone call was to Underhood Automotive. Immediately helpful and professional. Chris said they do this kind of work all the time and install DOT legal headlights on older Shasta County Search and Rescue vehicles. Every single question I asked was answered. I live 4 hours away from Redding so coordinating this was somewhat of a Challenge. Chris even told me my mom's car had loud squeeking brakes and he would inspect those as well. Strong Automotive has high stars so I'm guessing their body work is pretty good but customer service is also very important and in this department, they have a long way to go.

Before bringing my car in, I clearly explained the issue: a specific electrical A/C problem (turning on/off). The system was already working and recently serviced. I made it clear I only needed a quick, straightforward fix with no unnecessary servicing, and that I would not bring it in if he planned to service the whole system.Chuy said he understood and that it would be a quick fix. The only charge I authorized was a $150 diagnostic fee. Despite this, after I dropped my car off, he performed and charged for an A/C service I did not authorize, along with additional unapproved work. On Tuesday, he called while I was rushing to class and told me I could not call him back shortly after, forcing me to have my dad call. After that, he avoided communicating with me and instead kept saying, "I talked to your dad," even though I repeatedly asked him to speak directly with me. By Wednesday, the issue still wasn't fixed, yet I was already told it would cost around $300. He later said the repair would take less than an hour, but my car wasn't ready until Friday. When I picked it up, the total was $530, meaning $380 in charges were added without my authorization. He provided an invoice, but it did not include a clear breakdown of labor vs. parts and was sent to my dad instead of me. When I asked for an explanation, he refused and said, "Let's call your dad, he can pay the rest." On Monday we were there at 8am and to our surprise there was a line of people already in the office. We figured we had no chance but the fact that they were super busy was a good sign. Jeremy, the Manager, stopped everything he was doing and provided us with a quick diagnosis and our options. The car had not been serviced in a while And it needed a new transmission. Expensive but the fact that Jeremy took immediate care of our needs and provided options plus we felt so comfortable with the way he handled it. Other customer reviews showed comprehensive courtesy inspections were included as well as an extensive courtesy brake and Tire inspections. I was charged to diagnose a rattle in my brakes. Not only did they diagnose the rattle wrong but when I asked to correct it..It is now still not fixed.. instead, they bent the clips out to build more tension and put spray glue on the calipers to hold them down. I live an hour from town so I got to take 3.5 hours out of my life to have it still not fixed or even diagnosed properly. Wish I could charge them back at an hourly rate. The receptionist tells me they charge multiple diagnostic fees because She can't be having Her guys do work for free. But She apparently doesn't mind having Her customers drive back-and-forth on their own dimes. Awesome. I would pay overly inflated prices if I felt like things were getting done properly. Issac was my mechanic and he did what he could. Very nice guy who I really appreciate. Thank you Issac. But this shops got some issues. Not the mechanics fault. The original estimate link said that the brake stuff would be included in the courtesy brake and tire inspection.. zero dollars. (Take screen shots. I forgot) They found that the rattle clip was bent outward instead of tucked in like they should be on both front tires. So basically they had to bend the clip back in and that cost me 130. They're still rattling. Much better but still it's a band-aide not a fix. Supposedly they checked the back brakes, but one of them is squealing pretty severely and has a stuck Caliper.. completely missed that. When I asked if they looked at them they said, I'm sure I did.. no memory of it and no record of it. The comprehensive inspection also said zero dollars in the original link. 180+ to diagnose the clutch issues. Clutch replacement price was 1400 to 2200. I thought 'that's realistic I can cover that no problem.' Even if the insurance won't cover it. That's a standard price and why the system auto populated as such. After Statefarm got involved I reopened that quote link, completely different price. $3500 plus..more than the Subaru dealership. When I hit them up about it they acted like they didn't know I was was talking about. But I would not have pulled a price 1400 to 2200, out of my ass. I know I saw that. They know that their software auto populates before they change it. I figured that, so I looked it up and that is definitely the case. They went ahead and blatantly admitted to marking up their parts over 68% and mentioned that they added another hour plus to the estimate for labor. If you buy parts online from the dealership that's 105% mark up. Seriously what?? $765 vs over $1600+. I get marks ups, but this over the top. Naturally, the labor rate is not listed on their itemized bill and estimate or website. I will include for you the difference between the actual oem prices versus what they were going to charge. And evidence of free diagnostic and brake inspections done for other customers. Also what ai said about the collision I don't know why, but they insisted that this had nothing to do with the accident. I hit a huge bear, it crumpled the entire right side of my car. It does seem like it's related. The clutch wasn't slipping or going out prior, it's a very young clutch for a Subaru Impreza, and it started directly after the accident. It's a short rubber squeal upon take off. The clutch is still actually working fine. I asked them if they could rewrite the quote saying that this is consistent w an impact only because I have researched it quite a bit and that does seem to be the case. And possibly add that mechanically, the clutch is still sound and operational. They literally told me there is no way that it is related and that I am trying to commit insurance fraud. Are u kidding me?? Guess I shouldn't have bitched that my tires were over inflated. Save yourself the time and hassle.

Needless to say, I had our diesel BMW X5 checked before leaving the Bay Area. When we got to Redding, CA, the dreaded check engine light (CEL) came on. The universe must have been on our side because we found Steven, the manager (or owner) of Angelo's Classic Import. With Steven, all our fears were gone. I can't give a high enough rating to R & R Auto Truck Repair and to Kevin in particular. While…read moredriving to Reno, Nevada, on hwy 89 my truck had a malfunction and stopped running. I contacted AAA and had the truck towed 80 miles to R & R. Kevin called 2 days later to tell me that it had a broken exhaust pipe at the manifold, and they could repair it for $450. We drove from Grants Pass back to Shasta Lake to pick it up and headed back towards home. About 5 miles from home the truck started making the exact same noise. When I got it it home I pulled the exhaust/catalytic converters and discovered the repair had failed. I contacted Kevin and he asked what I wanted to do. I told him I would order a new exhaust/catalytic converter and install it myself, because I didn't want to drive the 2 1/2 hours back to the shop. Kevin told me to order the parts and he would reimburse me the entire amount, which I did. I provided the amount to Kevin and received a check from him in a few days. Not only did Kevin stand behind his work, he went the extra mile by reimbursing me for the parts. I can't say enough about the level of customer service Kevin provided! I highly recommend them as a trustworthy shop.

Five stars all day!!! My situation started in July 2024 when…read moremy transmission went out on a road trip through Northern California. I was towed into Hartnell Transmission and met Dale. Unfortunately I needed a whole new transmission and had to leave the truck for a few days. Dale was extremely fair and honest, and did a fantastic job rebuilding my transmission. It even came with a 2-year warranty !! Fast forward to this week. The new transmission has been great but we experienced a minor issue. I gave Dale a call and he recommended two transmission shops in Reno where we could take the truck to be checked. The shop I chose stated the transmission was damaged beyond repair due to a clogged air filter and would not be covered under warranty. This made no sense!! I called Dale at Hartnell and relayed the message. Dale assured me that any issues with the new transmission would be covered. Dale called the other shop and ultimately paid for the diagnosis and asked that I take the truck out of that shop and take it to the other for a second opinion. Turns out there is no serious issue after all and the transmission was given a clean bill of health. I appreciate Dale's professionalism and excellent customer service. Now, I wish my transmission never died, but since it did, I'm very happy it ended up at Hartnell transmission. Thank you Dale!!!!!
