I didn't think I'd ever set foot in JCPenney store ever again but I recently got a nostalgia for it after rewatching some old 80s movies. I think that was actually the last time I shopped at JCPenney. I miss the days when going to the mall and shopping at department stores were fun. It's sad that many of these stores are closing and people just don't go to malls like they used to. I came here on Black Friday and found some good deals. It wasn't as crowded as I expected, maybe due to the location. The entire mall didn't seem that busy, I don't know how this location compares to others but store seemed understaffed for the size. I like JCPenney, but not this location. I came in to buy a red dress shirt for a Yelp event. I wanted to be measured so I would get the right size. The lady at the register tossed me a tape measure and told me to do it myself. She said after COVID they don't measure customers anymore. I was at the Brea store recently and got excellent customer service. The lady was pissy when I asked if I could try a shirt on. I want to get the right size. The cashier that rang me up was mad because I didn't want their credit card. I argued with her saying I wasn't interested. I'll take my business to Brea from now on. read more

I usually buy my Keracare Detangling Shampoo from Sally Beauty, but no store near me in my area had any in stock. So I used my $10 CashPass to help me since I saw JcPenney had 3 bottles in stock near me. I originally was going for one, but because I had another coupon to use, I ended up saving about 90%. My price went from a $25 purchase to a $4 one. As far as the shampoo, I've used KeraCare Detangling Shampoo for my hair for about 8 months now, and with Natural 4c hair it leaves my hair feeling clean, smooth, soft and moisturized. It helps to brush my hair with a detangling brush while showering and shampooing that helps keep my hair straight. I've noticed a significant amount of softness and growth from using this shampoo along with Keracare's Conditioner. JcPenney has been apart of my family for at least 30 years. From my Grandma, to my Mom and now to me. I've watched them evolve and grow from working there myself to shopping their selections to this day. Every register should do returns/exchanges! Went to the 3rd floor to the kids shoes only to have to search for help, ran into Yesenia who was unhelpful and just pointed to where the shoes were, very rude! BTW the escalator was off so I had to walk up it, 7 months pregnant, seriously! The entire time you shop I couldn't help but notice they track your every movement on the cameras and send bizarre messages over the radio between the check out kiosks. I have always had a good experience at this JCP store. I ordered a top online and the curbside pick up was easy. At first they didn't have their own area but when I called their store number and talked to 3 people, one staff memeber finally directed me to the mall curbside pickup etc and walked me thru the curbside pickup. After having a bad day of searching for two dress shirts at 3 malls, I stopped on a whim at the Santa Ana mainplace mall. I actually found the type shirt a wanted at a great price. But I needed help with getting the right size. This is when Karina (of the pricing dept) noticed me and offered to help. (I'm fairly used to an indifferent work force these days) , I was very pleased to have Karina help me because she was a old fashioned service person like me. I've desperately tried get them to did it but they are adamant and won't help me. I filed a police report because they're definitely doing something shady! Went shopping for some nice clothes for a memorial I'm going to tomorrow morning for my poor boss's wife who passed away.. So of course I wanted to look good. What happened to this place? I love the fact that the aisles are wider, feels more open, easier to shop, and the straight and simple pricing. No $14.99, just $15. I think it's a bold move and I applaud 'JCP' for trying it. However, I had $10 rewards coupon and couldn't find anything I wanted to buy. The is the 2nd time I went there with a coupon and was disappointed. The dress shirts were boring. I bought 3 nice ones at CostCo recently which were better. I like casual camp shirts, but they had very, very, few, and they were all on sale so they were pretty crappy. Finally went to the kitchen area and bought some more bowls that matched the ones I already had to replace a couple chipped ones. It's sad it took me so long to find a way to spend my free $10. I was almost just going to buy underwear. I hope they get a better product mix soon or I see Penney's going the way of Mervyn's, Robinson May, Lamonts, and Emporium. read more

I don't understand why anyone would give this department store 5 stars. First of all, it's depressing. Is it closing soon? Looks like it with mess everywhere; merchandise thrown around, piles everywhere. Second, the customer service is HORRIBLE. We were gifted a stroller/car seat combo at our baby shower but were not given a gift receipt. I checked online and Jcpenny accepts returns or exchanges without receipt. Perfect right? We lugged the huge box all the way to the third floor to EXCHANGE it for a stroller with a different pattern. The cashier and the management made this the most difficult encounter I've ever had. No they wouldn't exchange it, no they wouldn't give store credit, and they even had the audacity to say it didn't belong to jcpenny til we called them out by showing them the sticker that said jcpennys info on the side of the box. After arguing for about 30 minutes.. we were told they could only give us the 40 day whatever which was $49. According to the manager, that's the lowest price the "item had been sold at". Please someone tell me where you can get a brand new, Graco fastaction stroller/car seat combo for $49! It's nonsense. This place is trash. Ps. I called JC Penny.com to place an order over the telephone the broken english hard to understand over seas I'm sure for the cheap labor wages. It has happened twice now, they take down your home address down and it is shipped by UPS. and it is sent to one of the UPS. stores in your area, then you have to go pick it up in person sometimes, it's further than the store location. I went to get my ring resized due to it being loose. Emily was really nice with trying to help me my care plan due to it not being in the system on a mistake in their part. Michael on the other hand wasn't help he would answer my questions and then laugh. I was frustrated due to them not being able to search up my receipt after 6 months and the mistake on the sales person for not inputting the correct information. I was able to pull up the transaction on my bank account but they said it won't work. In my opinion you don't laugh at someone and they're frustration because one I not only purchased my ring but an additional 150 dollar protection plan and due to their mistake I'm unable to get it resized. His response was "you can buy a ring guard it's only a couple dollars". So unprofessional. read more

This JCPenney is my go-to since it's the closest one to me. The store itself has a lot of cute clothing. For myself specifically women's clothing. They have a lot of Liz Claiborne clothing which I LOVE! I don't typically see a lot of sales associate on the sales floor which is why I can see that their go-back racks are always full. The fitting room closest to the Liz Claiborne area on the second floor has such a bad odor and the carpet is purple but almost looks brown. Instead I went to the junior section to try on my clothing and it was worse. Inside the fitting rooms, people leave their clothes hanging inside the rooms since their isn't any room on the racks either.
