Did someone say ceremonial Matcha? Hell to the yea!…read more I had bookmarked this place for our stay in Denver on our trek from California. We always like to scope out the best coffee spots ahead of time. Little Owl did not disappoint! First, it's always difficult to find ceremonial grade Matcha wherever you go. Most of the time it's Matcha mixed with a bunch of other stuff and at best it's culinary grade. The Matcha here was vibrant in color, smooth and slightly nutty. I elected to sweeten it with simple syrup and had it Americano. My husband opted for a vanilla latte with oat milk and while we've stopped at several places so far, this is the best latte we've had on our roadtrip. They make all of their syrups in house and the coffee was smooth and not bitter. The cafe is small and quaint. It does open up into a larger building with additional seating. Customer service was on point, and we even joked about the different types of Matcha and how some places use a ton of fillers and sugar.

I tried the Vanilla Latte which was nicely sweetened, creamy, and soothing. The espresso was pulled well and gave me the caffeine kick I needed to start my day. They have some bar seating here but the cafe also extends into the lobby where you can sit and have a slow morning if you choose. Good try!

The environment was very comfortable but limited. Luckily, we found seating for my family but there is only 6 tables inside but there is outside seating too. Lovely decor and very welcoming. Now the food and drinks. The hot drinks were really good and emptied out quickly haha. My sons cold drink was really strong but he didn't mix beforehand. After he mixed it then he really enjoyed it. The empanadas were tasty but fell apart. Very difficult to eat. I recommend grabbing utensils. The Siopao was good and the flavor were suttle. Maybe a dipping sauce would pair well. I couldn't comment on the croissant, it was gone by the time I looked up. The ube muffin was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend it. Overall, this place is a must go. It gets super busy but it's well worth the wait. The parking is on the street and it fills up.

The mestiza latte I got had oat and rice milk, but it was so sweet I couldn't finish it. I don't think I would come back - just personal preference. The cold brew was too sour in my opinion. Credit card/tap pay accepted Bathroom is through the back door and around the corner. Free WiFi Parking is on the street and free.

They have a wide range of breakfast, lunch, and coffee items to choose from, and tons of unique gifts to take a browse at while waiting for your order. I got the breakfast sandwich with smoked ham (they immediately sold me on the fact that it was on focaccia bread) and it was sooooo delicious. They also had a seasonal red velvet latte that I had to order, as I'm a sucker for anything red velvet. Phenomenal coffee and breakfast was had that day. I love all the signage inside and out, staff was very friendly as well. It is quite small and I noticed there was an upstairs with more seating but I didn't go up there as we sat out on the patio. I can see the place being absolutely packed on weekends so it may be only a weekday spot for me, but I will definitely be back to try more of their menu items!

Speaking of which, the owners do rent out some seriously cute/cozy cabins up in the mountains that my buddy and I stayed at and every little detail was on brand down to the signs about wifi and the stove & fridge. There was easy parking here on a Monday around 9am. It was somewhat busy but not crowded; everyone who needed a table seemed to get one. I got a coffee and a pastry and a oatmeal to go (they put it in a cup and I got hot water at the airport). It was all delicious! They also sell cute gifts/swag. All very original, not the type you'd see at other cute gift shops.

The fruits sandwich made with shokupan bread was light and fresh, an excellent pick-me-up. This is a standard Japanese snack done beautifully. The mixed berries (a Danish made with croissant dough) was a delight in looks and taste. Neither item was excessively sweet. They were just right. The beef curry wrapped in dough, crusted in panko crumbs, and deep-fried was excellent. The curry itself had real flavor and zest, and the surrounding crust was delicious too. Not only a great accompaniment, but also a very cool way to eat curry with your bare hands. A very generous serving too. My brother got the most beautiful-looking chocolate croissant! And my son bought himself a chocolate cornet, which surprised me by being soft baked dough. Haven't tasted them, but I couldn't wait to post this review. I look forward to trying something with cream cheese or custard next time. Unfortunately they were out of the bacon epi, but that happens with bakeries. Good advice to call the day before if your heart is set on a particular item. We were just lucky to get the rest of the items on our list on a Saturday at lunchtime. My son had been to Japan about two years before and was suitably impressed with this bakery. I was very happy with what we got!

The place wasn't busy at all, maybe just 1 or 2 people coming in every 10 minutes on their way to work, which made it super easy to grab something quick without feeling rushed. I had the Earl Grey croissant, and honestly, I'd order it over and over again if I could. It was easily the highlight for me and paired perfectly with the iced matcha latte. The staff was friendly, quick, and welcoming. The shop itself is small, cute, and no frills in the best way. Simple, cozy, and exactly what you want for a casual coffee and pastry stop.

The ube latte was perfectly sweet with a strong ube flavor. The crème brûlée cruffin had a top that was so crispy from the toasted sugar that I couldn't cut into it, and the bottom was just stuffed full of cream. It was super messy to eat and impossible to share- next time I am getting my own. We also had the pandan coconut cupcake, which was good but not as exciting as the cruffin. The pandan and coconut were both equally strong flavors- I liked it better than my husband did. The Thai tea cake in a cup was also excellent, but outshone by the cruffin. They were out of a few other things we wanted to try by 11am on a Saturday, so get there early if you want something specific. The gentleman running the counter was very friendly and efficient, even when they were busy. Seriously, get the crème brûlée cruffin. I know I will be back for it.

I think I built it up in my head so it sat on a pedestal from all the buzz I've heard. Everything was fine but again, expected something wow worthy. We came here for lunch, love that everything is to go. I was sad to see the traditional cold cut banh mi sold out for the day I pivoted and went with lemongrass pork sandwich. Similar fixing to banh mi, it tasted fine but the pork was rough and tasted ok. They have gorgeous pastries and Vietnamese coffee drinks, I would come back for one of those. We split a cup of cakes (cute!), Boston Thai Tea. Flavor was spot on and appreciated that it wasn't too sweet. I would stop here again if I was in the area and needed a banh mi but don't see that happening. I would rather go to Federal or Aurora for one with more flavor.
