Thai Chicken Salad
Michelle E.

I was walking around downtown Golden looking for a healthy option for lunch. Cafe 13 was recommended for their menu which includes a few breakfast items, salads, and vegetarian options. I opted for the Thai Chicken Salad and a bowl of Green Chili. Both were good. The salad had fresh ingredients and was filling. The chili had great flavor and a good kick of spiciness to it. I definitely ordered too much food for myself! I didn't realize how large the salad was going to be but I was happy about the portion size for the cost. The staff is very friendly. I would say this place is a bit loud- there were a lot of conversations going on around me. If you plan to come here for a quiet lunch or to get some work done, I recommend bringing headphones.

Tex Mex Scramble

If you find yourself in Golden, Cafe 13 is one of the places to be. This popular cafe serves breakfast, lunch, coffee, and cocktails with ample patio seating that Coloradans will adore. On a midweek afternoon, this place was busy busy. And I'm talking like there was never not a person in line to order. During the few hours I was here, I purchased two coffees and one breakfast item. No complaints! My first order was the Cold Fashioned. No, it's not a cocktail even though it looks like it is! It's cold brew with bitters and a little bit of simple syrup. This was delightful. I don't have a picture of the iced Americano I ordered later on, though this was strong and tasty. They had a relatively big menu when it comes to their scratch kitchen, in addition to the sexy pastry case teasing my taste buds with each passing glance. I landed on the Tex Mex Scramble. Tex Mex Scramble (GFO) // scrambled eggs, chorizo, cheddar jack cheese, over hashbrowns, garnished with roasted jalapeño aioli, salsa, and a flour tortilla. This was everything I wanted in a scramble. All the flavors were wonderful, I added Cholula atop the whole thing. I was in heaven and to be frank, very surprised how delicious this was. Perfect execution! Another plus of this place (that many coffee shops should take note of) is the free public WiFi network. Bless up. No passwords, no confusion, just fast reliable internet that everyone can enjoy. Major kudos on this. Staff was extremely friendly although they were hustling around the entire time I was there. A testament to good management and ownership! Cafe 13 is a must visit in Golden whether you're looking to knock out some work or just kick back and relax.

Little disappointed with their breakfast sandwich.

We came in early on a Sat for breakfast and good thing 'cause this place filled out fast with a line out the front door. Someone said this is how it all weekend. It's quaint, bright, with plenty of seating. There's more room up the stairs in the back where the bathrooms are at, but those were closed off. Seems like they may have events there in the evenings. There's also outside seating and a large patio. Their coffee was strong, good, and we appreciate the milk alternatives. The scones were fluffy and tasty. Not that impressed with the breakfast sandwich though. Overall the vibe is very homey Golden/Denver. Enjoyed people watching as locals strolled in with their pets. And it's a short walk to the Golden Farmers Market, so it's a perfect morning first stop.

A great spot while in Golden. Visited after a hike - perfect pick me up! The food and coffee were excellent! Would love to return to try some of their cocktails!

We were visiting Colorado and stopped here for some coffee and food. Their seasonal speciality, blueberry latte, is actually very good and I highly recommend it. The Aussie scramble is very good and they load it up with bacon bits. Everything tasted fresh and wasn't too heavy. The Tex Mex scramble was a large portion and 2 of us couldn't finish our portions, but still it was very good and the salsa it came with was tasty. We stopped here the following day again to grab some matchas and another iced coffee. Definitely give this cute place a try when visiting. It's order at the counter and find a seat. We sat outside which was lovely.

Matcha Latte

We stopped by on a Saturday morning to pick up breakfast to-go. We ordered two sandwiches--one on a croissant and the other on a bagel--along with a matcha latte. Everything was delicious, and given how busy the place was, it was clear that many others felt the same! However, the wait in line was quite long since there was only one woman taking orders. After ordering, it still took a while to receive our food and drinks. Expect to wait both in line and for your order--this is a very busy establishment.

9/9/24 Café 13 was a fantastic breakfast spot! My husband, mother-in-law, and I enjoyed the fully loaded avocado toast, a delicious coffee bun, (definitely get this to try if you're into a 'not too sweet' dessert option) and a phenomenal kombucha on tap! The latte was smooth and perfectly made. Service was quick, and we loved the self-seating option outside. Highly recommend this cozy café to anyone looking for a relaxed and tasty start to their day!

Lovely little breakfast spot! I ordered the Fully Loaded Avocado Toast while my husband had the Chorizo Burrito. Both dishes were delicious, though the burrito could have been served hotter. Overall, I'd recommend checking this place out.

Lovely place to grab food/pastries after a hike! It can get pretty busy on the weekends, but there's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Can't go wrong with their avocado toast or Cobb salad. Go early for their pastry selection!

Hot chocolate can't go wrong

So many healthy options! There's coffee and alcohol. It's a walk up to the counter and order type of restaurant. They give you a table marker to deliver your drinks and food, then you just put your own dirty dishes in the bus tub. Self serve water, which is not bad and to be expected from this style of in dining.

Super moist pumpkin loaf and flakiness of the cinnamon sugar pull apart.

Adorable cafe, with a beautiful outdoor courtyard for additional seating. Their selections of breads and pastries are amazing, and they did not disappoint! I wanted to have the vegan breakfast burrito but I noticed it included hashbrowns in it. I double checked to see if they can do the hashbrowns on a pan and they said no it was cooked on a flattop where they cook meats! I was bummed, but I switched my order to equally good options. I ordered a yogurt, parfait, a slice of pumpkin loaf and a Cinnamon Sugar Pull Apart Roll. My friend got the loaded avocado toast. I ordered decaf iced mocha with a pump of their seasonal sticky bun. My friend had some issues with her coffee. She wanted half calf and requested a shot on the side and they would not do it for her. It was a bit frustrating and disappointing. Other than that a great place to go.

Came here on a Friday for lunch and it was very busy! You order when you walk in and can sit in a small seating area or outside. This is the perfect cafe space if you want to have a quick snack with a friend or come study. Our food came out very quickly which was a plus! I would highly recommend the raspberry chocolate scone, definitely a 10/10! We also ordered a BLT and a Breakfast burrito which were other ok, standard for small cafe food. The drinks (iced chai and matcha) were both pretty average as well.

I think telling someone to go elsewhere- after they express legitimate concerns about the wait time is a great business practice! Well done

We just made it a few minutes before the end of happy hour and was able to give the Pork Green Chili Cheese Fries and the Fried Pickles a try. Amazing prices for their happy hour too! We had burgers, the salmon risotto and the steak sandwich. Everything was so tasty. If I had to absolutely nitpick, the fried pickle is the chip style that I love but it was way over seasoned. When the Latina in the group tells you it's too salty, that's telling you something. I tried the pickle on the burger and it was already brined salty, then if you bread that and fry it and then season it... it was unbelievably salty.... Overall the salmon was well cooked, the burgers juicy and the steak sandwich super tender. The bar decor was super pretty and the service amazing.... I would definitely be back and highly recommend to check out their happy hour!

They are also dog-friendly which is a fun feature, but we went on a busy day and there were a bunch of dogs inside and outside, which I have to wonder if so many animals are indoors does this become a food safety issue? I will say our server was very nice, but the food was sub par to say the least. The items we ordered were severely under seasoned. They were quite bland and lacked any depth of flavor. The items on the menu had average prices to them, so there was no sticker shock on that end but, when did restaraunts start charging extra for sides of ranch?! It's not enough to cover your restaraunt costs with the $25 burger I just ordered? This restaraunt is located in a touristy town, so I'm sure they get all the traffic they need, but as a local I will not be back!

We did not specify a label, and our waiter, Aaron, did not ask. I was looking at the first (and cheapest) of the options, and we openly discussed the price while he was taking our drink orders. When the check came, we were charged for a much higher priced wine. We asked about the difference, and were told that "he picked a nicer one for us." Without asking. Assuming he knew better than the two women he heard discussing price when we ordered. So be cautious. The food was good, but I found the waiter both sneaky and misogynist.

I opted for the Chateau Ste. Michelle Sauvignon Blanc from the Horse Heaven Vineyard, and it was lovely. It was very refreshing with light citrus notes that weren't overpowering and a really nice body overall. I also have to give a shout-out to the staff for the presentation; the glassware was crystal clear and spotless, which always makes the drink taste a little better. The atmosphere is perfectly casual, with TVs playing the NFL playoffs (and presumably other sports), making it a relaxed spot to hang out without being too "stuffy." We dove into their large food menu and started with the fried pickles and the spinach artichoke dip served with veggies, both of which were delicious. The service was friendly and jovial throughout the visit, which made us feel right at home. The only reason I'm knocking off one star is that we had a small lapse in service where we had to ask a second time for lemons for a glass of water, but the staff was so pleasant that it was a minor blip in an otherwise excellent visit. I'll definitely be back to work my way through more of that wine list!

He shared that the salad does not come with lettuce, it comes just as it says on the menu: apples, cheese, chives. Okay. It sounds delicious to me. Now I want to create this at home!
