Jazz St. Louis is a lovely environment to listen to Jazz. I would recommend going a little earlier before the show to order a meal or appetizer. The food selections assist with making an all around date night experience. Every staff role I have ever encountered over the years have been nice and happy to be there. The talent that Jazz St. Louis brings in is a reason in itself to go. Thanks for being in midtown.

Love this place! Would love to go more often. Low key intimate setting with amazing performers, and really good food. Loved that they had a vegan entree and it was delicious! Service was great. Close to the Fox and Powell so check schedules before you go. I imagine parking can be a challenge depending on what else is going on

I thoroughly enjoyed my evening at Jazz St. Louis. I was able to personally witness opening week for an old friend who's now the creative advisor for JSL. For starters we had balcony seats with the perfect view. I love all the acoustic paneling on the wall, pretty and functional. I ordered dinner and dessert because why not? I got the salmon which was cooked to perfection, a perfect medium. For dessert I had the house brownie and that was definitely a treat. As far as the music, I had no idea Keyon could sing in addition to playing his world famous trumpet! I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of the program and I look forward to many more evenings at JSL.

I love Jazz STL! I visit here at least 6-8 times per year and I am never disappointed. I love the fact that they switch up the menu quite a bit and I love the free summer series that they have during the summer months! it is nothing better than live music in an intimate venues such as this! I literally have gotten tickets right at the stage which is so fun to be that close to the performers. I love their community work that they do and love what they stand for as a non-profit organization. Keep up the fabulousness Jazz STL team!

Very classy atmosphere, we had a girls night out here. They have a limited menu, this gumbo was surprisingly good. The ambiance is grown and sexy. I would say the age range is 40 and up. The service is good also. Very professional

If you are a lover of jazz and fantastic food, you should've been here already! Everything about the Jazz St. Louis experience was wonderful. The service, the atmosphere, the music made me feel like such a grown up. Perfect for date nughts.

Absolutely incredible, 10/10, wow! I've been wanting to come here for the longest time as the St. Louis Jazz culture is so evident. I'm honestly a little surprised people don't talk about this place more because I think it was one of my favorite experiences in St. Louis, by far. I came to watch Keyon Harrold and his band who are all absolutely legends alongside Kenneth Whalum. Let me tell you the most amazing parts of the night: - For one student tickets are only $10 which is wild with a $2.50 processing fee. The show typically called for like $40+ per ticket so you save an incredible amount of money with a student ID. Also you can just call them online about it, you don't have to visit their box office in person. - We watched the 7:30 show, and I guess they wanted to encourage more people to stay for the second set so the theater offered free tickets from everyone from the first set to come tot he second set, so we gladly took them. I'm so glad that we did because even though the songs were the same, the middle improvisations part was incredible. - The venue is so intimate as there aren't a lot of seatings and you can really feel connected with the artists. - Keyon Harrold!!! Oh my gosh. His band absolutely killed it and blew everyone away. The way he was able to hold the room with his trumpet was mesmerizing and the guy who was playing the keys for him was amazing. I appreciate the improvisations so much as you could see each musicians shine and everyone else supporting them. It was so impressive they way they were able to sit so in the pocket of the music with the ever-changing rhythms. Honestly could not recommend seeing his show more, because even though the two sets started with the same songs, the middle bits were completely different which made everything so much more interesting. - Kenneth Whalum's "One More Kiss" is officially my new favorite song. Wow. The way he sang it, man was serenading us! And then they did some improvisations and no matter how wild it got, they always brought it back to the chorus of the song. Incredible! - I appreciate that Keyon Harrold asked everyone to stand up and dance at the end, it really felt like such a great community. - The vibes were amazing. Everyone there was so supportive, I absolutely loved it. Okay, clearly this is my new favorite St. Louis experience. Can't wait to come back again to listen to more new and amazing artists although I have to say that Keyon Harrold is a hard one to beat.

This is a gem of a venue. It's fairly intimate and has tables downstairs and a nice viewing balcony upstairs with counter-like seating. I doubt there's a bad seat in the house. I sat upstairs and the view and acoustics were great. Ticket prices seem very reasonable. I thoroughly enjoyed the jazz ensemble performance; all the musicians were great. It was a fun and entertaining evening! I went by myself (on a weekday evening) and felt very welcomed by both the staff and patrons. They have a nice selection of wines by the glass. I went with the server-recommended red and it went great with my tasty rigatoni pasta dish. Even though they were short-staffed (the manager had to step in as a server for the night), once I was seated the service was excellent.

For some, you will read this and know exactly what I experienced, for some you may have wanted to go but just haven't yet and for those like me prior, I had no idea it was even here. I was invited by and friend and Uber to the location. When you walk in you have the little bistro to the right and the venue to the left. I went to the bistro and grabbed a drink before the performance started. The venue is small and personal so it didn't look like there was a bad seat in the house. We were center stage and the band performing is absolutely fantastic. Great music, good entertainers and a perfect venue for an outing with friend, family or a date. Highly recommend.

This place is amazing, it is a great little spot to chill and be transported back in time. Regina Carter's performance was breathtaking. We arrived around 615p, the doors open at 6p for the 730p show. There is balcony seating on the second level which can be reached by stairs or elevator. The first floor has tables and booths surrounding the stage. They have a simple menu packed with flavor. On this night the special of the night was a lobster roll on a brioche bun with poblanos. I ordered the shrimp & grits and parmesan truffle fries. The beer and Bourbon list is pretty nice as well. There is a glass bottle of water for every 2 seats. All seating is white leather, so when the lights are turned down during the performance it doesnt seem so dark. If you attend the first show you have the option to stay for the second one. The staff will find you a seat. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and will be returning soon.

If you are going to see a 7:30 PM jazz set here, they make it really convenient to have dinner before hand. It's also the only way you are going to eat here. They don't take walk-ins or others that aren't going to the show. That said, they do a pretty good job with the food. It's a small menu, but that's fine. It makes it easier to decide what to get. We started with deviled eggs. Not a bad choice. Fairly standard, and that you get what you expect. The wife and I both picked the same entrée, which was saucy Mediterranean rice. It's a vegetarian dish, and they told us that they now use jackfruit instead of tofu. That's probably an improvement. The jackfruit was very dense and meaty, and did a good job soaking up the flavor. And there was a lot of flavor in the tomato-based sauce with a good deal of spices, and not for heat. Surprisingly, they had about a half dozen choices for the desserts. What we had was pretty good, but even at about nine dollars each they were definitely too small to want to share, so you each have to get your own. The caramel corn choice, had a lot of chocolate dipped pretzels, mini marshmallows, and Spanish peanuts, to add variety. However I thought there could have been more actual caramel on the corn. My sweet potato gooey butter cake sounded odd, but it actually was really good. I'm not sure how they made it, but the sweet potato seemed to reduce what could have been an overly sweet dish. A table mate got bananas Foster which also looked pretty good. However it wasn't lit on fire as I had expected.

My risotto was overcooked so the clams were rubbery-yuk. The shrimp looked overcooked but they actually tasted fine. The pork chop was good but not great per report. We did get bruschetta as an appetizer- again good but not great as there was too much balsamic glaze such that it was overly sweet. Jonathan was our server and I had the impression he was new to the job. He did fine but it was small things. A definite detractor was the location of our table- we were right next to the kitchen. If I backed my chair up I would have been in their pathway. Anyway they left the door to kitchen open and it was sooooo noisy. Yes I could have asked them to close door but the heat would have probably too much for them then.

I had the Steak au Poivre and all in all I'm not mad at the dish. Not amazed, probably won't order it again, but it's well balanced between the grits and the asparagus. Asparagus was a bit less crispy than my preference but not bad. The steak was seasoned well and cooked to my preferred temp, I just don't think the green peppercorn sauce complimented it well. The only really negative thing about the place is the volume it can get to, it was a bit hard to hear who I was eating with. Extremely unsafe for anyone with food allergies or celiac disease…read more We told the staff multiple times that we are gluten-free and vegan, and specifically asked whether the pita and hummus were safe for us. We were repeatedly told that they were. When the food came out, I asked twice more if the pita was gluten-free and was again told yes. We ate some of it based on those assurances. I finally went and asked another employee, who then told us that the pita DOES contain gluten. This is not a minor mistake for someone with celiac disease. We specifically disclosed the dietary restriction, repeatedly verified the food, and were given incorrect information multiple times before eating it. What makes this especially concerning is that The Fountain on Locust promotes itself as being allergy-friendly. If a restaurant is going to make that claim, staff need to understand food allergies and celiac disease and be able to accurately identify what is and is not safe. We would never have eaten the pita if we had been given correct information. After this experience, I would not trust this restaurant with a serious food allergy or celiac disease. Management needs to address its allergen procedures and staff training before someone gets seriously hurt.

The restaurant itself is quite small and is located on the other side of Yellow Belly. The entrance has minimal space that looks to be able to accommodate 4 or 6 people if you're waiting for a table. Inside, the spacing is fairly decent for being a smaller location. I didn't feel too crammed dining and the 2-seater table was of normal size so there was enough room. We were seated right by the entrance with a curtain separating the area. True to its name, a Tiger statue sits at the entrance which is decorated in tropical manner. The theme continues within the restaurant. Lazy Tiger has a happy hour which if I remember correctly, ended at 6:30. Their cocktails are $12 during happy hour (rather than $14) and they have a selection of snack type items which you could have as appetizers if you'd like. We both got a cocktail. My husband had the human costume (gin, amaro, blanc vermouth, melon, gnartruese, malic acid) and I had the humble brag (gin, rhum, salted banana, forbidden rice, coconut, lemon). Both were refreshing and different but in a good and surprising way. We started with the nachos from the happy hour menu and added some pork belly per our writer's recommendation. I love pork belly anything anyway. The nacho was a huge serving! And it was very tasty with a good amount of crispy pork belly peppered throughout. I had the Morrocan spiced halibut served with couscous, asparagus, Spanish chorizo, tomatoes, pistachio dukkah. Halibut was well seasoned and prepared perfectly. We also shared an order of the vegetable fried rice and added some spam because I am a sucker for spam fried rice. It came with some chili crisps which brought the dish to another level. My husband had the tamales which he thoroughly enjoyed. I didn't get to try some but it looked fantastic. We ended up taking home the rest of my meal and the rest of the fried rice which have been devoured over the weekend. Service was fantastic. I love the vibe, I love the food!

While it seemed fancy, the place did not give off a snobbish vibe which I really liked. There were some nice landscaping outside and on your way to the entrance. We did the let us cook for you option ($85 per person) and I added the wine pairing for $30. They have an elevated wine pairing for $50. The place has a sommelier if you're wanting wine recommendations! We ordered cocktails when we were first seated while trying to decide what we wanted to do for dinner. I had the cucumber spritz (gin, rose aperitif, aloe, and garden syrup). It was very refreshing, good cucumber flavor, with just a tiny hint of sweetness. If I didn't have the wine pairing, I would have gladly ordered a second one. My husband had the rhubarb which he enjoyed. First course: focacia with whipped quark cheese, cured ahi tuna topped with nori, sweet onion, golden sesame and plum, naked vegetables with fresh pesto, crispy potatoes topped with black garlic, paprika aoili, coriander and spiced seed, and last but not least, the duck liver mousse served atop toasted brioche and topped with rhubarb, hibiscus, and strawberry . I'm not a bread person but I tried the focacia. It was good but I let my husband finish the rest. Everything was delicious but if I had to pick a favorite, it would be the tuna and the crispy potatoes. The flavors were beautiful together. Honestly, I could eat just these dishes and be happy. The white wine pairing went beautifully with the dishes. Second course: corn fried rice with poblano peppers, cilantro and queso fresco, cherry tomato salad, and grilled Denver steak. The steak was prepared perfectly and was very flavorful. Also, I have never had corn fried rice but it was delicious and now I'm thinking I need more of it in my life. We had a basque cheesecake for dessert (third course). It was served with rhubard sorbet, bee pollen and almond brittle. It was the perfect ending to the perfect meal.
