Cute coffee shop with mediocre coffee and food. I really loved the atmosphere and know this would be an awesome stop in the summer. I got an iced latte but espresso felt watered down and syrups were average. We got one of their burritos to share and it was good, but we felt it lacked sauce and they didn't have any sour cream, etc to pair with it.

Charming cafe. Interesting too as they have a ping pong table and merchandise section in the middle of the dining area. Service was friendly. I ordered their Mexi Melt, a recommendation from the staff. I'd love to give it higher than a 3 stars but I couldn't ignore that the cream cheese on the everything bagel was half inch thick, making it too rich. Then with the guacamole and the very generous melted cheese just made it over the top. Sometimes you can have too much of good things. The turkey sausage was not a whole piece but just slices not enough to cover the surface of the bagel, making the proportion of dairy/fatty to protein to carbs disproportionate.

Cute little spot with a hipster vibe. We stopped in looking for something quick and inexpensive to share for breakfast, and it fit the bill. The food was okay--not bad, just nothing I'd return specifically for. The real highlight was the latte, which was delicious and well-made. If you're nearby and want a quick grab-and-go breakfast with great coffee, this place works.

I don't why it took me forever to visit this place because it's pretty amazing. This is my third time being stationed in the area and today was the day I wanted to go here. I was a little confused on the parking. I parked behind the building so I had to ask if it was ok so I didn't get risk getting my car towed. I ordered the Big Kahuna Breakfast burrito and it's such a huge portion and it was so delicious. I love the beachy vibe and it's not too far from the beach which is nice. Definitely check out this place if you haven't been. I will be back for more.

Everything was worth the wait. The big kahuna was exactly what I needed for breakfast after a long night and early morning. The sauces were perfect with the crunch of the wrap and the ingredients inside. The bagel had the perfect texture, it was a bit crisp on the outside but chewy inside. The surf vibes inside the shop were adorable and we enjoyed the outside area to enjoy the breeze. I wish we had a Java surf in my hometown!! Would definitely come by again.

I had the absolute pleasure of talking with Rachael about her incredible business. She's passionate about her space and it really shows. I walked in ten minutes before close and her and her partner were happy to make me a breakfast burrito and entertain my many questions. It's obvious that this fan favorite is a staple in Virginia Beach and I say it's a must stop. Food and coffee were both delicious and they are happy to make food modifications for vegetarians.

The food was good! The coffee was subpar but not mad at it. The spot itself was a cute shop and I could see it being a great spot to hang out when it's warm out with lots of outdoor seating and a ping pong table. The service wasn't the friendliest but they did their job. Overall, the burritos itself satisfied me but wouldn't come back for just coffee.

Great food at decent prices! Put in your order and they call your name when ready. Friendly service and fun atmosphere with great background music!

Decided to grab lunch and give them a try. I've had coffee here before failed to write a review. But here we are writing a review for lunch! Placing my order was easy I ordered a sandwich I wanted no meat so I ordered a chicken pesto sandwich with no chicken. I asked the girl will they still charge me for the chicken she said yes. Maybe the owner will consider doing a vegetarian version of that sandwich. I will say it was very good! Just a few things I want when having a sandwich maybe it should come with some chips and a pickle. That would be the prefect lunch offering. Would I go back I'm sure I will at some point. Try the chicken pesto sandwich with mozzarella with no chicken it's really good.

My "greens" smoothie came out looking like mud...$30 for two inedible smoothies and stale hashbrowns. Very disappointing experience.

My "green" smoothie looks muddy and brown, and tastes fermented and spoiled. My side of hashbrowns was stale and obviously not fresh. I was really hoping for a better experience here for $30.

I've been to a lot of cafes but this was definitely one of my favorites by FAR! We were instantly greeted and staff were kind and attentive. While we waited, had a lovely conversation with who I assume was the owner. Waited maybe 2 minutes for our drinks which is amazing! And food was out in about 10 minutes PIPING HOT! And let me tell you this SANDWICH!!!! Brought tears to my eyes lol it was so good (the northender.) My husband got a breakfast burrito and said it was the best he's ever had. The vibe inside is amazing too. So much to look at and there's cool merch you can browse as well. My favorite drink is a dirty chai and this was the best I think I've ever had! It was busy while we were there and staff handled it like it was nothing. Amazing! I will be back

This breakfast hit the spot and was actually so good it was our favorite meal all weekend. Now THIS is a breakfast burrito. I am actually in the process of trying to recreate it at home and felt like I had to leave a review. The cafe is so cute and in an artsy part of town where every building has a mural on it. There is a parking lot right outside of it (thank God) and they have indoor and outdoor seating. It's a cute cafe, one of those cafes that sell clothing, sauces, and other items inside too. They have various breakfast items but we all opted for a breakfast burrito. It was big, stuffed, and super tasty. We practically inhaled our food. They have good coffees and smoothies and we got a smoothie and 2 toasted marshmallow lattes which were so delicious. The servers were friendly and the food came out nice and hot. The presentation was beautiful too which is always a plus. Another plus is that they have non-pork breakfast meats so we all got turkey sausage!

this was one of my go to spots at the oceanfront for like 2 years! i don't go as often bc i usually eat at my go to spot for a little too long and then wanna change it up, but i may start up again here soon... not gonna lie, as an advid brekky enthusiast it's overpriced for breakfast (minus the lox- decent price). but the lunch is a good price (in today's economy standards) considering size and quality! i get the lifeguard on turano with no pico or pineapple & it's a pretty big & very yummy sandwich! i don't typically like or choose chips as a side, but im v thankful they use kettle cooked!!! when i went here i wasn't a big coffee drinker & found it too expensive for a casual cup, but now that i drink it more i may have to revisit.

Drinks were delivered very fast by the bartender. 2nd rounds were offered prior to the drinks being empty which shows good serving habits. The serving portions were very plentiful and played very well on the brunch theme! Burger was cooked medium well but still very juicy with a delicious mayo based sauce. My daughter ordered the smothered chicken and biscuits, butter biscuits topped with cheesy eggs, fried chicken, and cajun cream sauce. I'm a chef myself and travel to different restaurants regularly, so I try to be understanding. That said, the service we experienced yesterday at Stock Pot was unfortunately some of the worst I've had in quite a while. We sat outside, and it honestly felt like we were being deliberately ignored. The restaurant wasn't busy, yet we had to wait long stretches just to get basic things. At one point near the end of our meal, we asked for a box and our check. Instead of bringing it over, the waitresses stood around talking with other waitresses, while we continued to wait. After sitting there for quite a while, we eventually had to ask for the check and box, a second time. Throughout the meal the service was inconsistent. We had three different waitresses checking on us, but were left to sit for about 30 minutes alone at one point, and it took almost 20 to have our order taken, once we ordered, we had to request our appetizer again, after waiting another 20 or so minutes. Upon asking, again, we found out they were out of part of the appetizer we ordered. After that it came out quick. The food, however, was excellent and definitely the highlight of the experience. That's why this review is disappointing to write -- the kitchen is clearly doing a great job. I just hope the service side improves, because it didn't match the quality of the food.

HISTORY ON AN ONION ROLL | THE EYE OPENER CONTINUES TO TEMPT TASTEBUDS, DECADES LATER…read more By Patrick Evans-Hylton For decades, the Belvedere Hotel was more than a place to stay. It was a familiar presence along the Virginia Beach Oceanfront, a backdrop for everyday rituals and seaside routines. Tucked inside was the Belvedere Coffee Shop & Diner, a true neighborhood constant since opening in 1969. It was where mornings began with hot coffee and friendly nods, where breakfast and lunch meant dependable comfort, and where the pace of the beach slowed just enough to savor it. When the Belvedere was torn down, it felt like losing a quietly important piece of the Oceanfront's collective memory. That sense of memory carries forward at Belvedere South inside the tony Moxy Virginia Beach Oceanfront hotel. The new space honors the past without freezing it in time. Bright blue walls set against crisp white instantly recall the diner's cheerful spirit. Large windows allow light to flood the space. Cushy banquettes are a comfortable welcome, inviting you to settle in and linger. The menu stays true to its roots with classic breakfast and lunch dishes that feel familiar and reassuring. Anchoring it all is the legendary Eye Opener sandwich, returned to its rightful place as both signature and symbol. In this new setting, the Belvedere legacy lives on, refreshed but recognizable, a reminder that some traditions deserve to be carried forward with care and confidence. The Eye Opener remains the heart of the menu, and one bite explains its legend. A perfectly fried egg anchors the sandwich, its yolk just rich enough to soften the layers beneath. From a choice of bacon, sausage, or ham, we chose the latter; each brings its own salty, savory character. Melted cheese binds everything together, draping the egg and meat in comfort. All of it is tucked into a lightly toasted onion roll that adds a gentle sweetness and just enough bite to stand up to the fillings. Chef Ray Ray Labuen, who wore the tall toque at the former Belvedere, is closely tied to the Eye Opener its careful steward. Then there are the tomatoes, the detail that elevates the whole affair. Thick slices are grilled, seasoned lightly, and finished with a generous snowfall of parmesan cheese. As they cook, the tomatoes soften and turn luscious while the cheese melts and lightly browns, creating a savory crust that clings to the fruit. They are warm, juicy, and deeply flavorful, adding richness and balance to the sandwich. It is indulgent without being heavy, familiar yet special, and exactly the kind of dish that earns its name at the Oceanfront. We also enjoyed rich, creamy grits and a damn fine cup of coffee. Service was exceptional. - I've been covering the cuisine scene in Coastal Virginia and beyond for 30-plus years, and have dined out at thousands and thousands times. I base my scores on the SAVORY system, which attributes values to six distinct attributes: Service, Ambiance, Value, Offerings, Repeatability, and Sensory Experience. That translates to 1 star = 59 or below ; 2 stars = 60 - 69 ; 3 stars = 70-79 ; 4 stars = 80-89 ; and 5 stars = 90 or above. Based on that, this restaurant receives my 5 star rating. This is based on a visit on Jan. 7, 2026 - I'm a Johnson & Wales-trained chef reporting on food and foodways in print (magazines, The Virginian-Pilot), television (morning shows, Food Network, WTKR TV-3), radio (PBS, AM 790 WNIS), and more.
