I have no doubt the ingredients are good quality, but my chicken sandwich tasted of nothing but peppery/spicy. The sauce tasted like nothing, the slaw tasted like nothing really. The crinkle fries had a salt and vinegar type powder which was kinda weird. The white sauce was just sweet. It was all pretty flat. The pork bowl was nothing like the pictures. It tasted how I imagine old ppl smell. I had to add the sweet white sauce from the fries to give it some rounded flavor and help the shredded 4 micro-nubs of meat. Super plain and made me wish I had stayed home. The interior is not comfortable for sitting. The exterior had wafts of garbage scent flowing through to compliment the sound of cars speeding down Buford Highway. That was neat for the 35min it took to get the food. When we first walked in here we were greeted by the friendly owner and she explained the whole menu to us. It was nice to know that she personally sources a lot of the spices and ingredients from Taiwan and makes the food with as much healthy / natural ingredients possible. There were so many things to choose from and we got the ABC sandwich, chick bits, and tigers latte. The abc sandwich has a Taiwanese chicken filet that was seasoned well, crispy, and tender. They added a generous amount of apple slaw and the filet was so huge it made the bun look tiny. I love the chick bits and the five spice on it just tastes so good. I know they are originally mainly a coffee place so I had to try out their latte. They grind the beans fresh when you order and the latte was really strong and tasty. The tigers latte just means that they add brown sugar syrup that was also made in house by them. Overall I really like this place and will definitely come back again! read more

This is an awesome place to get Taiwanese chicken favorites. The food is FIRE!! Freaking awesome! The only thing is that kills this place is the lack of indoor seating. With the weather constantly changing (hot/cold, dry/wet) indoor seating for a business is a must specially in Atlanta!! Unless you are in California or near a beach or something, Service is always good. This place has more potential but the owners are reluctant to do better not sure why. Really good Taiwanese chicken place that is def a hidden gem. While it's pretty much set up like a to go only place, there are three tables out in front you can sit at. "Exotic" fries- really crunchy and the furikake gives it a nice kick. The cilantro dipping sauce complimented the flavor well too! 886 sandwich was delicious! Crypto level was just right for me with a little peppercorn numbness. The daikon carrot slaw is refreshing. Taiwan hot chicken was good too but Octane is definitely spicy so be warned. The cilantro sauce helps cool things down just a little bit. Boba Tiger's Blood- felt like this was just OK compared to other milk teas in the area. We were able to adjust it to get it less sweet but it was definitely on the milky side. I probably wouldn't get this again but would try their other drinks! read more

Java Saga isn't just a coffee shop! We ordered food for takeout on a Saturday night. They labeled the food well so we were easily able to determine whose food was whose. We got the Basic Chick (fried chicken sandwich with sweet pickles and their Boomin' Mango Habanero Sauce) ($8) and the ABC (fried chicken sandwich with jalapeño American cheese, Asian slaw, sweet pickles, and Boomin' Mango Habanero Sauce) ($10). We added "Exotic" Fries for $4. The chicken was amazing. Beautifully crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside. The portions were HUUUUGE. They gave us a tonnnn of fries because the food wasn't ready on time. The fries were incredible. So crunchy and well-seasoned. The dipping sauces were amazing too. They had a green sauce and their Boomin' Mango Habanero. I alternated dipping between the two. We finished our sandwiches, but some of our friends didn't. We still have leftover fries that we'll toast and put some eggs on top of for breakfast. It'll be great. We highly recommend Java Saga. We will definitely order from them again. Let's just say this is Atlanta's hidden gem. Literally hidden in a Chamblee plaza off of I-85/I-285. This used to be a food truck, but now they have their own remote location. I have a friend who works here, and she recommend me a lot of things off the menu. Their chicken sandwiches have NOTHING on Chick-Fil-A! Even though my love for Chick-Fil-A food will probably not go away, but DAMN the chicken here is fantastic! Fried to perfection, crispy on the outside, juicy as a watermelon dripping down your hands on a summer day. It's just that good. I always forget to take photos, but I had a chance to try their secret menu item: lotus root chips. Weird, but it was good lol. The Chik bits which were chicken nuggets are pretty good and flavorful. Definitely try any of their chicken sandwiches, they are huge portions! You won't regret it. There was a young lady (think her name is Dajeyah) that took orders and was running the food orders to customers. I believe she was the only front of house worker. It was like a one woman show; she even made our coffees. Which is the best coffee I had ever tasted! We ordered the ABC spicy sandwich combo and the chick bites combo. Chicken and fries are seasoned really well. The ABC sandwich was the greatest chicken sandwich I had ever tasted, the slaw has pear which gives it a nice sweet contrast to the spicy crispy chicken. The chick bites were crispy, juicy and flavorful! It was a good amount of food! And then our second order was two delicious coffees. Food and drinks were delicious! Coming in with an updated review after they changed locations! So glad they now have a better location on Buford Hwy that could lead to more exposure. They only new thing we got on this visit was the lu rou fan. I wouldn't say it's the best since I've had a lot of lu rou fan in my lifetime. It's a def a dish that's always good. I do think there are some other dishes that are more their style and will keep me coming back, ex: the ABG sandwich, ji pai, and bacon dan bing. While I haven't ventured much into their drink options, I can attest that the tiger blood latte is delicious! (also their green sauce is still the best!) read more

Did y'all know about this little hole in the wall? I was very happy to find out that it's only 5 minutes from my place. This heavenly chicken sandwich beats every other sandwich I've ever tried before! I added eggs and avocado to it and guess what? It took me to a whole different world. Alvin, the owner said the green sauce is their specialty and goes really well with the fries and nuggets! It's so great to finally have a Taiwanese chicken cutlet place around Atlanta. I've ordered takeout twice now and both times have been really good. The chicken cutlet and sandwiches are huge and flavorful, and the fries with the jalapeño sauce are really good. I've had the 886 and ABC sandwiches - the toppings are unique and yummy (I especially like the pickled veggies), but be prepared to get a little messy eating those. The cutlet comes with a side of spicy mayo type sauce, and the dan bing comes with a mild, sweet sauce. The hot chicken is really spicy in a good way (crypto spicy level), and goes perfectly with the toast and pickles it comes with. There are a few things that I think could be improved: it would be cool to have the chicken cutlet served in a sleeve so you could pick up and eat the way they do it in Taiwan, since it feels awkward to cut it out of the box. Also, because of the way it sits on the foil and having to drive 20 min home, the bottom gets soggy. Chicken juiciness was inconsistent, some of the thicker pieces were drier than the others. The dan bing portion was pretty small and the end pieces had barely any filling. This also is personal preference but even though I liked the dan bing sauce, I was expecting something more like the soy sauce paste I'm used to. Overall though, the flavors are really good and I'm happy Java Saga exists to meet my Taiwan da ji pai craving! I'll definitely be back again to try everything else on the menu and I really hope business continues to grow here! read more

One of my favorite spots in Atlanta! Best Taiwanese popcorn chicken I've ever had in the States. It's a hole in the wall type of place without any extra frills. The food is incredible. My favorite thing on the menu is chick bits- they are crispy, flavorful, spicy, juicy, and all things delicious. Not too oily. I always pair with Apple Sidra. So good!!! When you pull in go left then turn right and it's on the right. I assume there's a public bathroom somewhere in this plaza but I didn't ask while there. It isn't exactly dine-in. There's a window to order from with four patio tables set up in front of it. Covid Precautions The staff is wearing masks and gloves. The sliding window is mostly closed. There's hand sanitizer AND Clorox wipes available at the window! I had the Mango Smoothie and the Cinnamon Toast Baguette. The smoothie is great; not too sweet or too thick. The baguette comes with blueberries, blackberries, and whipped cream. The bread is toasted pretty well which I like because the syrup is going to make it soggy. I guess syrup is put on the baguette before it's plated because there was no pool of syrup under my food. No worries about it getting soggy. The flavor is as expected for cinnamon toast. read more

Stopped by for coffees after dinner. We had the Tiger Latte with less sugar, very good. At many places (for me) the coffee is way too strong and dark roast but this was perfect. Next time I will try a regular latte AND def returning for the chicken. I visited this coffee truck during the Atlanta hot air balloon festival. It was hot I was feeling a little tired so it was perfect when I spotted this truck serving up cold coffee beverages. Service was fantastic, barista was very pleasant, had a great smile and shared the social media check in discount. My companion had the same sandwich, but got a combo with fries and what I would call a carbonated apple cider. The latte was solid. The sandwiches were good - a little spicy, large portions. The fries were crinkle cut, which is the second worst version (after steak fries) and thoroughly unremarkable. I rarely give five stars but I have to say even five stars seems a bit lean for this establishment. Stopped by here on a Saturday afternoon with my sister and my oh MY this was the best decision we made that weekend. Or month. Maybe year. We ordered the 886 sandwich and exotic fries to share. The chicken sandwich is *chefs kiss* with crispy, flavorful, and tender chicken coupled with a perfectly pickled slaw. The exotic fries are seasoned with furikake and come with a creamy sauce to dip it in. The place itself is a little hole in the wall (pretty much quite literally) but has eye catching wall art of Taipei 101. Service is nice and prompt. A few tables that have a couple seats. Would be nice to sit there and eat on a day with good weather. What a treat! We were waiting for some bean pies at another part of the PREP offices and got hungry and thirsty. So thanks to Yelp I looked up what was close and found Java Saga! So excited because I've never had Taiwanese hot chicken and this was so good! I ordered the Tigers Blood boba with almond milk (also really appreciate them having alternative milks!), the Basic Chicken Sandwich, and water. Everything was great, you can tell they use fresh hot tea because the ice is pretty melted by the time you get your drink, so if you're a person who likes a lot of ice, you may want to take your drink home.
