Absolutely horrible if you know anything about coffee/espresso. Ordered a cappuccino and was asked, very rudely "...what size?" big RED FLAG! Cappuccino comes one size. The best coffee shop in Ketchum, no question. It has a local flavor that is second to none...forget about that crappy corporate coffee place that begins with an "S" (I refuse to even say the name), THIS is how it's done. The breakfast rocks, and they serve only certified organic coffee...I've read other reviews about bacon and breakfast meats being sold here, but in the time I've been going here I've never understood such items to be on the menu...I believe they're pork-free...feel free to flame me if I'm imagining that. Lunch is also good here. They have many creative coffee concoctions, my favorite being the Keith Richards...with something like 4 shots of expresso love (oops, that's Knopfler, not Richards!) and a chocolaty finish, it's the perfect wakeup. The owner, a rock starish hipster local "dude" (meant respectfully and affectionately) actually has a photo of himself with Keith Richards and other Rolling Stones members on the wall. One more thing to add...the wifi and lounge area in the back is perfect for "hang n surf" or getting work done if you work remotely...but since this is MY SECRET that I'm letting out of the bag, I have dibbs to remove your ass if you're on my couch when I arrive to get my work done. Our second trip to Ketchum and our second trip to this great cafe. Again my husband and I each had a Bowl of Soul. I normally prefer much less milk in my coffee (cortado all the way) but wanted to embrace vacation and enjoy the local specialty. We also had breakfast-scrambled eggs for me and a burrito for my husband, both tasty and fresh. Dinging them one star for not asking if drinks were for here or to go-I much prefer drinking from a mug versus paper cup and had to ask. read more

Coffee is good but they need to tell people how long the wait for coffee will be. I have been waiting 20+ minutes for a single coffee I ordered. If they can't figure out how to do online ordering and walk ups then they need to just choose one. The coffee was great but the floor plan is extremely awkward when trying to wait for your coffee and stay out of the way of those in line waiting to pay. Also had to knock one star off for the employee who yelled at us the day before from her car for riding our bikes on the side of the road instead of on the sidewalk. I love the Ketchum location because the Atmosphere is comfortable and the music is pretty rad! The service is exceptional with a smile even during busy moments-Gosh, I just really love this place-I can't think of anything that would be negative....except the one in Hailey(the service is really really really really really bad) I don't ever go there! They are rude-and the picture of the manager with the cigarette in his mouth because he is "Employee of the month(?????)" I LOVE Java On Fourth! I usually get to Sun Valley about 1-2/x per year and insist on eating breakfast at Java once if not every morning. My favorite dish in their Huevos Rancheros - which comes with black beans, topped with fluffy scrambled eggs with pico de gallo, sour cream and 2 tortillas on the side. This healthy version of Huevos is the perfect portion and the taste is on point. Along with their amazing food, you can't go wrong with their latte's and lively, cozy atmosphere. Not ever coming back here. There was three people in line and there was no sense of urgency to get orders in. The line quickly filled up with six more people. It was very lazy like. The girl that's taking the orders is trying to put postcards in little metal stands while the line is getting longer. They asked us to redirect the line away from the tables that nobody was sitting at and crammed everyone together in front of the bar. It didn't work and I mentioned something and they said well that's just how it is. When we got up to order our drinks it was very slow and rude. I tried to order a caramel macchiato and she said I'm not sure exactly what you're trying to order, but if you're trying to order something from Starbucks we don't do that. I ordered just a mocha and she said well we can just do like a caramel mocha? I said I will just order a regular mocha. She went on to explain exactly what a caramel macchiato is and I told her I wasn't interested. It's almost like they've never had anybody ever ask them for that drink like Starbucks makes. Literally every coffee shop I ever been to was able to make that drink from Starbucks. Even though the experience was terrible, my mocha was actually good. Two stars. I wish I could give more because their food and coffee is great, but the employees, especially lady with short cut shaved hair (who is usually pulling shots, making coffee) are RUDE. When you order, they act like your order is some huge burden. Oh, I'm sorry for spending my money at your business and contributing to your paycheck The Java in Hailey is much better, simply because their employees know how to be kind to customers. I went here based the fact that it was highest rated coffee shop in Ketchum on yelp. The food is OK. Nothing special at all, very mediocre. The coffee (cappuccino) was undrinkable. Burnt milk, and I just poured it out as opposed to drinking it. Starbucks is better, and they don't burn their drinks. read more

I second everyone else's positive reviews. Loved my confetti eggs (very flavorful) and bowl of soul. Kids had yummy white chocolate hot chocolate. There can be a line and a wait for food, but I don't think that's the restaurant's fault -- it's the result of being so popular because of its A1 food/drink. And it is worth the wait! read more

Great place for quick breakfast and a very cozy feel to the place. Service was quick and friendly (I believe the owner couple was on the floor, and that's almost always a good sign!) and we were all happy with our breakfasts. Favorites included the tomato/avocado bagel, yogurt and granola, oatmeal, and the orange maple muffin (all of their pastries looked great!). The one area they could improve on is the coffee, more specifically the steaming of the milk (micro foam) and the temperature of the milk (too hot!) in the lattes.
