So I ordered through Uber Eats, so I can't talk about the service or ambiance. However, I can discuss the food and drinks. I usually have a pretty okay experience with ordering from them. But this time, I was appalled by what I was given. I ordered the salmon cake eggs benedict. I was shocked to find one cake and a sad little salad to the side. (See picture.) I think they forgot one patty? Not sure. But this is certainly not worth $20 alone. In addition to the quantity, the hollandaise sauce is pretty bland and the toast was burnt. The pastries are good, but a bit pricey. Fries are full of flavor and I highly recommend! I also ordered a matcha latte which was okay. I prefer a tad more matcha. Their drinks I do have to say are phenomenal. My favorite drink I've gotten is the horchata chai, but they don't offer it anymore. Overall, I was definitely disappointed in the cakes. Hoping they improve in the next coming months, because it's still an okay place. read more

It can be a great place for breakfast or brunch and coffee during the daytime and dinner, happy hour and drinks at night. The interior is spacious yet homey and very inviting. This location has an extended covered patio area for additional seating. Waitstaff is friendly. Customers can get water and cups at a station near the cash register. I've had their croissants (very flaky and buttery) and have enjoyed their lattes and tea varieties. This time I ordered their empanadas. Each order comes with 2 (choice of chicken, beef or vegetables). The empanadas were as big as my hand, piping hot and golden brown. The outer crust was flaky yet firm. The shredded chicken filling was tender with corn and beans. I enjoyed the vegetable one even more (filling consisted of black beans, mushrooms, peppers, and onions). Stopped by to grab coffee with friends after dinner. We didn't know that it becomes a restaurant around dinner time. We were seated and offered menus. At first, we were taken back as we were expecting the usual cafe vibe. We were still able to order coffee but we had a waiter who took our order. Came on a Saturday around noon/1 and it was very packed. Parking was a bit tight but was able to find a spot after being patient for a little bit. Indoor seating was full so we opted out for outside and despite it being chilly, it was a nice experience thanks to the heaters. I did have to wait ~15 min for my squash latte drink and it turned out that my order was under a different name ("Kennith" and not "Janet"). I would've loved to have had the drink in a mug but as it had already been prepared and sitting on the counter, I took the drink in the to-go cup. Food came out promptly. There was a small hiccup with the crepe as my friend had ordered a second one and it came without the Nutella, but once we had brought it to the front, they kindly provided us with Nutella on the side. This location of Java Nation has a pleasant atmosphere and decent seating. Some customers were working, while others enjoyed their conversation with their fellows. They have various food items and bakeries. I also later noticed cute cakes were displayed in the back window case. I arrived after lunch, so got a regular latte with cranberry biscotti. The price was affordable, and the service was pretty quick even though there were several other customers waiting for their drinks. Unfortunately, the coffee was watered down and had a burnt flavor, which I wasn't a fan of this taste. On the other hand, the biscotti was very crunchy and buttery, which I really enjoyed. Great drinks, good vibes, so-so food. Came by here for the first time on a Saturday for brunch with friends. I love how casual the place is--you can pick where to sit and they take your order from the counter inside. There was plenty of covered outdoor seating when my friends and I came which was really nice. I ordered the smoked salmon bagel and my husband ordered the pulled pork huevos rancheros which I got to try. I was a little disappointed in the bagel. It was pretty pricey but there were only two pieces of salmon. Would rather have gone for a lox bagel at Ize's. The huevos rancheros were pretty good, but nothing to write home about. However, I did really like the drinks. We got the margarita flight. They came in these cute little mason jar mugs. My favorite was the spicy watermelon! Although the food was ok, I'd probably come back here again and try more drinks. I'll probably just skip brunch. Their desserts and Latin food sound pretty good. read more

Unless someone else I know wants to go have a cuppa or wine and dine here, I definitely wouldn't return here. I visited during a non-peak hour on a Wednesday. The place was jam packed and completely impossible to find parking. I ended up spitting out to 355 and having to make 2 u-turns just to park near the dry cleaner's parking lot next door. Once I went inside, I was appalled by the complete lack of social distancing and COVID-19 mask enforcement. Lines were long and people were practically on top of each other like sardines in a tiny can. And virtually nobody was wearing masks. Their outdoor seating is a complete joke. It's pretty much just a faux outdoor seating. Or to put it another way, an indoor dining area extended outside with walls and roofs over it. To top it off, the lukewarm drink really sealed the deal with me totally not liking the place. The horchata was essentially a sugary foamy warm milk. Yuck. The food items kind of looked appealing but not enough to want me eating after having to skip lunch thanks to a separate Fairfax boba debacle. In sum, I think this place is great for those who live walking distance in the area but definitely not somewhere that warrants a trip for. It's in the middle of nowhere between Grosvenor and White Flint. A great neighborhood restaurant location but not anything special for those who live elsewhere. read more

I love this place. The ambiance is nice if your in the mood for a busy warm cafe atmosphere. Their manager is pretty awesome and their staff very personable and helpful. Even the bussers are friendly! My favorite is the chia pudding because I like light clean healthy foods. I also do the soup. Everything we have eaten here has been good. They even have freshly squeezed juice. The coffee drinks are nice with unique flavors tho I wish the unique flavors were all brewed stronger ;) That's my own weirdness because I'm used to making my own spices at home. During that time, I noticed the bartender standing nearby, watching the ticket without taking any action. Eventually, she asked another employee to make it, even though it seemed she was capable of preparing it herself. I am obsessed with the Java Nation in Kensington and was ecstatic to find out that they would be adding another location on Rockville Pike. I love coming to this location. Now I can get the great food and drinks that Java Nation has to offer, but now it has lots of outdoor seating and live music! I asked if I was allowed to order lunch even though it was 11 am--unsure if there was a time to order and because she was staring off into lala land she said "the lunch menu is behind me over there." I said "I know, I'm asking if I can order from it right now?" Her reply "yeah" Fine. I finished our order and when she turned to get our pastry, I was looking at my phone but very much alive and with working ears. After seeing rave reviews everywhere on Facebook, I took the first chance I got to meet friends here. One of my friends is a trained chef so some of my thoughts are based on what she had to say about her food. The patio was spacious and beautiful and I'd absolutely come back just for that! The food wasn't bad but there was room for improvement and I expected more based on what I'd heard about this local gem. 1) chicken ban mi - several chicken strips were fatty and a bit dry. It couldv used more flavor. 2) beef empanadas - delicious! Don't change a thing. 3) papusas - tasty but salty. My friend was surprised it came with salsa, rather than pico de Gallo, because it was too liquidy and the papusas were swimming. 4) the cold brew was flavorless. Disappointing and surprising for a place with the name "java nation" 5) the quiche was excellent 6) my golden latte was accidentally brought out iced even though I ordered it hot. It wasn't a huge deal and they fixed it quickly 7) $4 upcharge for home fries is a bit steep All in all, I'd come back and look forward to the Gaithersburg location opening up. They have a wide variety of menu items to choose from, whether you're a meat eater or vegetarian. A few tweaks and java Nation will be a top pick for me. read more

One of my favorite brunch spots in the area!!! My friends and I ordered a variety of brunch dishes and loved all of them. Great flavors and great quality for a great price. The place was pretty busy on a Wednesday morning but the line moves quickly! The pancakes were thick and fluffy, and came with a blueberry-mint compote on top that was out of this world. The dill home fries were very flavorful and perfectly crispy. The french toast was coated in a sweet cinnamon sugar, perfect for a sweet breakfast. The omelette and salmon benedict were flavorful and seasoned extremely well. We also ordered a hot tea, iced vanilla latte, and hot vanilla latte- all of which were delicious. Most recent time we got the tuna melt and crab cake sandwich and both were just ok but very overpriced for what you get. The coffee has always been good. Service is ok but no complaints. This place always seems busy and can be tough to find a seat on weekends, especially on weekends, so I might try to find a less busy time to visit and take my time. read more

I love their lavender honey iced latte, it tastes exactly as the name suggests and on the sweeter side too! Downside is that I believe it's a seasonal drink. This latte reminds me of Cruze farm ice cream flavor called lavender honey back when I lived in TN. I love the taste of this latte and grateful to have an opportunity enjoy something similar to back home! I have been a loyal customer here for 5 years. I used to love to come here with friends or to work on my laptop. Unfortunately I've watched the quality decrease. Not only portion sizes have gotten smaller but the coffee quality has changed as well. Last time I witnessed a bartender use a metal measuring cup to measure wine and then dump it in a glass. Watching wine get dumped instead of poured felt so wrong. I enjoy spending time here and hope management can maintain the quality as they open new locations. read more
