Spring specials
Giselle S.

My husband works in Petaluma & frequently visits local coffee shops, including this one. I was in town so I decided to try it out. They offer a variety of coffee options to choose from all sounding more & more delicious! I went with the nutty Irishman from their spring specials & it was so good! The hazelnut flavor was absolutely delicious. The service was amazing, I love local businesses because you can tell they really know their customers & value them. Love that it's also a drive through perfect for when you're in a rush or when you don't want to get out of your car!

Peppermint Hot Chocolate with Almond Milk!

My go-to coffee spot, and honestly, a hidden gem! I swing by 1-2 times a week on my way to the office, and every single time, I'm reminded why I keep coming back. The staff here are absolute sweethearts--seriously, some of the kindest people you'll meet. What makes this place extra special? It's owned and run by the owner herself! You can feel that extra bit of love and care in everything--from the drinks to the service. It's got that cozy, small-business vibe that just makes you feel at home. There's never a crazy long line, and you can either walk up or cruise through the drive-thru, depending on your vibe. And can we talk about the fact that they've memorized my order?! That kind of personal touch is SO rare and so appreciated. I've never had a bad drink or bad service here. Every visit is smooth, fast, and friendly. One small wish: I wish they had more locations--because this place is truly one of the best coffee shops I've ever been to. Do yourself a favor and stop by. You'll be hooked too!

Java Jack's has great service! It's a little odd set up wise for a drive thru; no one came out to my car for an order, but they took it when I got to the window. I had a mocha, nothing excited, but it was good, and hot!! They were gracious enough to give my dog a pup cup of whip too, so bonus star for that!!!

This is my favorite coffee place! I am absolutely hooked on the dirty chai. The ladies are so nice and work quickly and are great at helping people through the drive up window and the walk up window. Brigitte is the absolute sweetest but honestly all the employees are friendly. They also have the sweetest pup mascot (see photo)! Whenever I bring my pup they give her a little treat :)

Best Mocha in town. Every other place is either mediocre or inconsistent. Java Jack's always tastes AMAZING and gets me going!

If you like a milder matcha flavor, you'll probably enjoy it. The flan was my favorite part of the visit. It had a great texture and wasn't overly sweet, which I appreciated. A lot of flans can be a sugar bomb, but this one felt much more balanced. The cafe itself was clean, comfortable, and a nice place to sit for a coffee, pastry, or meeting. I'd definitely order the flan again and would be interested in trying more of their pastries on a future visit.

I went with the complete, the ham with an over easy egg, and I think it had some emmental cheese. And while not the best crepe I've ever had, it was still pretty tasty with a lovely presented and tangy side salad. Not cheap at the $18 price point, but again, a tres French lunch. I've heard they use organic ingredients, which if true, that price seems more in line. The bakery looked incredibly delicious. While I didn't taste the fresh baked breads and pastries, I'd imagine from the looks, they are decadent and delicious. The place was bumping on a Weds morning, you can tell this place is a hot spot to enjoy a leisurely coffee, pastry and a newspaper. The space is bright and inviting and I loved that they had a piano in the corner. Plenty of parking, to boot. Overall, a lovely stop in Petaluma, away from the hubbub of downtown.

They make good pastries here and they are very serious about making great coffee. The service is very good and it's a great place to sit and work on your laptop. On my most recent visit, I tried their specialty hot latte which was called the Worker Bee Latte. It had bee pollen and honey, of course, plus a touch of mint. I enjoyed it, although it tasted almost like a healthy drink because of the bee pollen! I typically enjoy their gluten free pumpkin muffin, which is delicious! This location of avid doesn't have as many food options as their Santa Rosa location, but it's all still very good. They have some fun merchandise here, and my wife bought one of their t-shirts the other day.

Quality of the lattes was mid. Just tasted like steamed milk. The barista kept pouring out milk and espresso after steaming and brewing it for some reason, so maybe the machine wasn't working right? Hot chocolates for the kids were well received. They use a liquid chocolate base with steamed milk on top.

A lot of really nice boutique type shops with fine products and a brand new record store, Paradise Found which is quite fantastic. It is also an oasis with goo-gobs of creative talent and cool people you will find. Ranchers, farmers, construction workers, normal hard-working folk, authors, athletes, chefs, sound engineers, sculptors, craftspeople, photographers, and inventors. A full cast of interesting characters. The home of the world's ugly dog contest (I tend to stay away during this event to avoid becoming a contestant) and wrist wrestling championship. Once famous for being the egg capital of the world. I once heard this conversation in a bar, "Hey Steve remember when we got paid to inseminate chickens when we were on acid?" Steve: "Those were chickens?" Sam Shepard would've had a field day here. Some newer buildings made to look old with crafted Styrofoam façades. You get the feeling you're on a movie set, which it has been on several occasions. I lived here for a number of years, a bit of a Peyton Place aura. Nudge nudge, wink wink, say no more. Some of my favorite people I've met in the last 30 years hale from here. And, a disappropriated amount have left this earth too soon. One of the best foodie destinations north of the Golden Gate Bridge. Superb coffee shops and bakeries, some award-winning. So, back in 1999 I took a wrong turn off the freeway and discovered Petaluma and the first place I went was the "Tea Room" and it's still pretty much as awesome as it was then. A real nice vibe, nicely decorated with some incredible pastries to include the orange cranberry scone as I recall, sold out today. My breakfast today was quite good with the walnut toast, and a huge portion of very large potatoes that could've been cut into smaller pieces and maybe I only needed one third of the portion. Dem tatters were 'nuff for four people. Great atmosphere, nice friendly staff, and a very pleasant ambience. There's mirrored signage that says TEA mounted high on the wall across from one another so as to appear as if it were a reflection. I personally can also see the word EAT in there every time I glance at it. I was told years ago that it came from an old Texaco gas station sign. It makes sense, check it out. On Western Avenue. I used to tell folks it's across from the pink Catholic Church rectory. That's been painted to a rather unattractive conservation brown. A lot of nice outdoor seating and cool shops nearby, check out next-door thrift shop and the ever remarkable Petaluma market around the corner, with superb produce display! Famous for cheese, wine, cider, breweries and happy cows! If you're coming from the south cut over through Fairfax to Olema and take the back road up to Petaluma which is a stunning drive!

She makes the entire experience unenjoyable and it's very frustrating because we are always nice and respectful, and we always tip very well. The straw that broke the camel's back for us, was when we came in and my husband and I were about to order and the place was super busy so no tables were currently open, and two gentleman offered their table to us because they were about to leave, and the lady at the counter snapped at me and refused to let us sit at the table because she thought we had pressured the men into letting us have their table (mind you, we hadn't spoken to them at all before they approached us) . I'm not sure what her issue is, but I have heard from other friends in town that they have had similar experiences with her and it's made them stop going there. Unfortunately, we won't be returning either.
