I love trying out all the coffee shops around town, but Java House has kind of become my home base. I love the coffee, love the prices, love the staff, and love the vibes. The baristas are so fun and have even started remembering me when I come in. I regularly like to try something new based on their recommendations, and I have loved it all - from seasonal drinks to menu staples. Most recently, I tried the Honey Baby (honey and cinnamon latte), and it was very good (especially if you're into sweeter drinks). My go-to is their cold brew with oat milk, and I love it because it has great coffee flavor without being too bitter or acidic! I love coming here to study, especially when I have virtual class. The upstairs loft area is quieter and is a great place to set up shop for a while. There are plenty of tables up there and a bar that overlooks the main level (see my attached pictures). Sometimes the baristas will even come around with free sample and waters for you, too! If you're looking for a local alternative to Starbucks, you should try out Java House! Pro tip: There is a covered parking lot (entrance between Java House and Rise'n Roll) that is free for a couple of hours which is a major plus. read more

I stopped by for a Yelp Elite event this past weekend and I was so pleased! Let me start off by saying that all of the employees were so incredibly nice and helpful. Very friendly - and offered recommendations since I am on a strict diet. The actual location is super cute - Very instagramable if you will. Lots of space to hang out and work, easy to get to, and a great area for a coffee shop. I ended up ordering a sugar free tea and egg bites. Both of which were delicious. I'm so glad I stopped in! The barista who helped me was so so nice and helpful. I let her know that I don't like coffee (I know, I know) and she let me taste the tea on tap and ultimately helped me pick out the delicious drink I ended up with. I ordered the Honey Baby because I was not in the mood for something too sweet. The drink was perfect! The coffee shop seemed like a nice place to set up your laptop and even has an upstairs With additional seating. Parking was not a problem but you can never guarantee this with the downtown crowd. My first visit to Java House - Downtown was a fantastic experience! The interior layout and design allow for a comfortable and inviting feel. The variety of food and beverage options ensure there is something for everyone. The staff encountered were friendly and warm and went out of their way to make the visit enjoyable. If I could give more stars, I would. The coffee is fantastic, and the treats are amazing - I've never tried anything here that I didn't like. But the absolute best part is the staff. They are genuinely friendly people who remember (and care about!) their return customers; and they bring the kind of joy to your day that most people WISH they got from their morning coffee run, but generally don't in this era of otherwise impersonal, hectic, overly commercialized coffee shops. I have a perfectly lovely cappuccino maker at home, but I stop at Java House at the start of my workday because the employees make you want to come back. Best coffee shop ever. read more

Wow I have not even finished my drink but I had to stop to write this review! Java House Coffee Bar is amazing! Great quiet study space and does not feel too crowded at all. There is an upstairs area with a bunch of tables and also bar seating in addition to all the tables and couches on the first floor. I usually cannot study in coffee shops but for some reason this place helps me get in the zone! Also go now while you can because all the fall drinks are out and their Pumpkin cold foam cold brew is INCREDIBLE! Ditch Starbucks because this is CHEAPER and TASTIER. So much more flavor in the sweet cream and the cold brew just tastes better in my opinion. They also have sandwiches, bagels, and other snacks if you get hungry while you're here. I attended a Yelp event here and was pleased to discover that this location is dog friendly. It's also very conveniently located for a walk around the war memorial or over to Central Library. Free parking for up to two hours is available in the attached garage. Java House Coffee has a wide selection of cold brew and nitro cold brew on tap. You can get a flight, a cup, or enjoy a latte or other coffee drinks. I appreciate this unique approach and will certainly be back because the coffee is delicious! Great coffee! Low acidity and great flavor. I'm not someone that drinks coffee often - mainly because I don't like the flavor - but their roast is great! We've had the Colombian coffee (hot- nice and balanced) and also the Backyard Bonfire (iced- like dessert in a cup). Strangely, the thing we keep coming back for- like multiple times a week- is the Sausage $ Egg sandwich! The cheese is so melty and the English muffin is super hot... it's just a great sandwich. Java House is quickly becoming a weekend staple for me. Its a quick walk from a lot of apartment complexes downtown. They have such a variety of drinks and customizations that there is something for everyone - including coffee haters like myself. Really enjoyed this place as it is not a huge chain and is well positioned downtown. I snagged an ice coffee, cookie and a bacon egg and cheese bagel. The coffee hit the spot and got me going again after a long morning. Not the place for hot coffee. Not the place to study or work remotely. Paid $4 for a medium coffee that tasted like a watery K-Cup. The chairs were uncomfortable and the wifi was down. This might be my new favorite coffee shop in Downtown Indianapolis! I have been going to the other Java House locations for awhile and was very impressed by this new location. They have awesome coffee, service, and seating. Java House's menu is based around their cold brews that they have on tap but they offer pretty much anything a coffee lover would be looking for. They have multiple signature drinks that are my personal favorite (the Tedster and Workaholic are my go-to's) as well as nitro cold brews. The staff at this location were all very eager to help people figure out what menu item they would like best which I thought was very helpful. They also offer select food items including breakfast sandwiches and pastries. I really liked their sausage and egg breakfast sandwich. This location offers outdoor seating, plenty of indoor seating with nearby outlets, and a walk up window (complete with pup cups) which makes it the perfect stop regardless of what coffee shop experience you're looking for! read more

I am hooked! I absolutely love the coffee, food and vibe...and and the Tedster! I have had it hot and iced, and during the summer time, iced is perfect, especially while sitting outdoors! Tedster is their salted caramel coffee. They customize it to my taste with half-caff, half sugar, and a lot of delicious whip cream and I love it. Since the first visit, I've gone there over and over, trying different versions of the tedster and also getting snacks. They also offer a flight of coffee /tea which I can't wait to try! I visited Java House this past Saturday morning. It was a quick 5ish minute walk from the Sheraton. The staff was so friendly, and the space was bright and chill. A perfect place to study or sit and chat with a friend. There was a (super cute) doggo that came in with its owners, so Java House is definitely pet friendly. :) I got an iced breve latte, with no flavoring. I stumbled upon this location while shopping downtown and it made my day. It's a fun, unique coffee atmosphere with all their coffee and teas on tap which also makes for quick service as well, without slacking on flavor. I like the space. The service was great. The coffee... I'm not sure how their coffee is roasted but it has a terrible aftertaste... I tried their coffee in Carmel a few months ago and couldn't finish my cup. It has an odd flavor. I'm not a coffee snob. I'll drink it hot, cold, fresh, old, light, dark, cheap and expensive.... I've drank coffee in Italy, Japan, Australia, Mexico, Chile, Canada, France, and many other countries and states. I know what coffee is supposed to taste like. Do they add something to it? Is it roasted with olive oil? Maybe it's palatable when served cold and with flavoring and caramel or chocolate. Whatever it is, their hot coffee, even their Americano, is just terrible. read more
