    Chai Latte
    Allison W.

Came here on a Saturday morning at 10:30 AM and the place was packed by locals, many after their morning runs. It's conveniently located right next to the beach, so we took our drinks on our walk. So lovely! I got the Chai Latte. It's pretty sweet, but it was the perfect temperature to bring out on my walk and keep my hands warm on the chilly morning. The staff are super friendly and work as fast as they can given the popularity of the shop -- my drink took about 10 minutes. There's not a great spot to wait for to-go orders, so it can get a bit crowded. I want to try the pastries next time, they looked yummy!

Bear claw with large drip coffee

Stopped by in the afternoon hoping for a quick pick-me-up. The place had a steady flow of customers, but no one acknowledged me when I walked in, so I ended up waiting around ten minutes before getting someone's attention. Once I did, the staff was friendly and helpful, which I appreciated. I ordered a large drip coffee and a bear claw that looked really good. The bear claw was definitely the highlight, flaky and flavorful, and even better after warming it up at home. The coffee, on the other hand, wasn't great. It had a lot of grounds in it which made about half the cup hard to drink. The cafe itself is in a great spot with plenty of seating and a clean bathroom. It's easy to see why people come here since there aren't many other options in this part of the city. They also serve other desserts like soft serve, which I passed on since it was a cold day. Overall, it has its charm but my experience felt a little off this time.

Nice sized cafe right at the end/start of the N Muni line. Closest cafe to Ocean Beach (you literally just have to cross the street). It has a nice beachy vibe to it, in tones of light wood. It does get busy, especially on weekends. So keep that in mind if you are counting with a sit. Tried their Hibiscus Tea, it was good! Decent Macha Latte as well. Not the most expensive cafe I have been to.

On a cool rainy morning a man wanted a warm cup of coffee. This location was close to where I stayed. The coffee was great. The chick that took my order was cute. The atmosphere was cozy.

Had the freshly baked Irish soda breads and it did not disappoint! Was so moist with strawberries integrated it added moisture that is usually absent from most traditional Soda breads. Butter and jam was offered but not really needed. It was freshly out of the oven so perfect!

What great ambiance! Great little breakfast nook/bar right on the end of Judah street. Easy access with the streetcar right there and wonderful booth and bar seating. Nice selection of coffees with some breakfast options. I chose the breakfast burrito expecting a normally sized one for the 15 dollars I was paying only for the diameter of the burrito to be around an inch. The burrito itself was actually great, with nice non greasy bacon and a soft and velvety egg. The portion size is just wayyyyy too small for what you are paying for. If you want a breakfast burrito look elsewhere. If you want a nice place to sit down with your coffee, this is the place to be.

    smallest coffee there ever was

I have been going to Java Beach for 10 years since I went to SF State and it was easily one of my favorite spots. It has since gone way down hill. A 7 dollar arnold palmer in the smallest glass you've ever seen and the lemonade was rancid. I went back in to replace it because it was not edible and I was met with disdain. Sad to see a classic SF institution change for the worse. Hate to say Java Beach won't be seeing me again. I'll give the Sloat location a chance but I am not hopeful.

If you're in outer sunset and near ocean beach definitely come to Java. My boyfriend find this spot which has some delicious coffee. The food was a bit pricey but he was treating so it's right. Honestly a great place right in front of ocean beach and off the Muni. Oh! Service was nice and friendly and great place to do work or study. It was packed with people.

Really cute ambiance! Tons of tables and seating inside and outside. Angled parking right outside, shouldn't be a problem. Didn't get to try it today, but will be trying the soft serve and coffee float next time. The soda muffin was super soft and moist!

Cute little cafe by the beach! I ordered the Kelly's Cove - it had turkey breast, avocado, pesto, onions, mixed greens, tomato on multigrain bread. There was an option to add chips for a fee of ~$2. There is indoor and outdoor seating and the cafe is a decent size. I also saw a few people here doing some work in their laptops so I'm assuming there's WiFi here! Super quick service and staff is very friendly!

I went on a Saturday with my friends who ordered at the counter while I ordered at the kiosk. Friend 1 ordered 2 burritos and a coffee. Friend 2 ordered 1 burritos. I ordered 1 burrito and a coffee. While my friends orders came out within 10 minutes, only my coffee came out. When I asked the staff about the status of my burrito, they first said they were still waiting for it. Then the second time they said my group only ordered 3 total burritos (when it was 4) and tried to tell me I didn't pay for a burrito myself. I had to prove it to them that I did pay by showing the coffee order so they could look it up on their machine. They still didn't get my burrito and instead gave me someone else's who they said took mine. I was sitting right next to the counter where they were calling orders the whole time and no one had called my name for a burrito. They didn't even say sorry. The food and coffee were decent but nothing would bring me back after being accused that I didn't pay as well as giving me someone else's burrito. Beware, they weren't even that busy that morning.

Cute little cafe by Ocean Beach, very friendly and welcoming ambience that surrounds this corner. My boyfriend and I happened to be walking by and noticed the crowd that was outside Java Beach Cafe, and decided to stop by. The shop inside has ample space with plenty of seating, definitely family friendly. We ordered a latte to share together, I love that they don't add sweetener - you could definitely ask for it but there's an area by the pick-up to add in your creamer, sugar and toppings. They have honey and agave which was a pleasant surprise! We couldn't stay long but this would be a cute cafe to visit with friends or just to come alone too. Didn't get to try their food but it looked delicious!

They all wore masks last I was in - about 1 month ago. I do not know about their vaccination status though.

I have gone to Blackbird a handful of times and have enjoyed the experience each time. Blackbird is primarily a bookstore, but they do have an outdoor window where you can order drinks ranging from matcha (Rocky's Matcha, if you're curious about which brand they use), lattes, and tea. They also carry a good amount of pastries (even mid-day, they have a lot of goodies), which I really appreciated. When you order your drink, you have to enter inside the bookstore to wait for your drink to be called, but you can take the time to stroll around and look at their book selection and trinkets. Heads up: the seating here is limited but very lovely. Inside, there are a couple of community tables, but their outdoor area is absolutely magical, with lush greenery and benches for you to enjoy your drinks. This time around, I got one of their seasonal drinks, a honey lavender vanilla latte, and I paired it with an Earl Grey olive oil loaf. The portion of the pastry was generous and moist, while the icing was not too sweet. Overall, a great pick for a cafe if you're in the area.

Matcha latte with whole milk : It's very savory which is great, unsweetened by default. I thought this was one of the better matchas I've had if you want to be able to taste the matcha strongly. Olive oil spelt cake: It reminds me of pound cake. Not that sweet except the frosting/icing. It was okay but as someone who's not as fond of that kind of cakey texture, I'd probably not get it again. They have a really lovely garden and patio in the back. There is also a bathroom. The acoustics and set up for events isn't great, though. It was hard for me to concentrate on the speaker for the book talk since you can hear the noises from the cafe behind and also the sounds of other store customers all around you. That was the only downside, but I think it's a very charming bookstore otherwise.

Brief Summary: - New favorite place to eat mille crepe cake…read more- Not so sweet, easy to eat - Beautiful and peaceful interior - Near the MUNI N line I was looking for a new cake place to try, so when I searched for one in San Francisco, this one appeared in the first page. It was near the districts I like to go, and because I haven't been there in a while, I thought it was a good opportunity to visit here. This cake shop is very close to one of the MUNI line stops if you take the N line. The store had a sign propped up with the list of the mille crepe cakes and some of the chiffon. The basque cheesecake selection were not one there, so I assume that these are new items. The interior of this shop is so cute. It's as if I walked in a quaint early spring environment. The initial plan was to buy the cakes to take home, but I was now interested to stay to have a drink before buying the cake. There were seats in the further end of the building, so we sat there, relaxed while drinking coffee. I ordered 3 different cakes of different flavors - earl grey mille crepe cake - pandan chiffon cake - tiramisu basque cheese cake If someone asked me which one I liked the most, I would take time deciding because I loved all of them. All of them were not so sweet and also easier to eat; even the basque cheesecake. I showed the basque cheesecake photo to my colleague, and they were surprised: 'it's almost like having 2 cakes in 1!' was the memorable response to it. I also loved the mille crepe cake. This one left a fun and colorful impression of crepe cakes. I got the earl grey and I loved how it was almost like drinking an earl grey tea at the same time. I tasted the bergamot oil from the tea. I also liked how the crepe cake was overall moist and juicy (I wonder if it's because I chose a tea themed crepe cake?) I love the chiffon cake, and this also topped with the bias of me loving pandan. I was also surprised that the cream area was not just cream but packed with coconut meat. It gave a nice chewy flavor in between the cushion soft cake layer. The cake top decoration is so subtle yet gorgeous, it's a great cake to serve on celebrations too.

The cafe is clean and bright and staff was friendly. We thought about dining in but the one available table was dirty and no one had wiped down the food stains, so we decided to take the desserts home. I thought the hazelnut chocolate was OK. The nuts were not fresh and crunchy. I liked the tiramisu much better but it's not in anyway better than a real tiramisu cake. It was interesting to eating thin layers of pancakes nicely frosted with cream. It is obviously a labor of love to make. There's a lot of different flavors but I'm on the fence about trying another one.
