Nice place on the main streets of downtown. Parking is horrible so walk or ride bike! Service friendly, had a little difficulty with language and understanding each other, but worked through it. This little restaurant turned out to be surprisingly good. We are vegetarians and always double check when it comes to Chinese food and Thai food since we don't even eat fish. They had enough variety of vegetarian options and the food was tasty. The staff was friendly, ambience was family friendly. We liked their Thai Tofu, Ma Po Tofu, vegetarian Krispy noodles, broccoli etc. i definitely recommend this place. read more

They seem to be severely understaffed and the chef seemed extremely touchy. Don't expect them to accommodate any simple requests - at all. For example, we asked them to add tofu to a vegetable dish and the waiter gave us a speech as to why it was impossible.... Ok... never mind that most Chinese restaurants can do this. It's fairly easy. Our food was really greasy and bland with poorly mixed in MSG. I took a spoonful of my boyfriend's Ma Po and got a mouthful of it (I think). Honestly the best dish was the broccoli. Not sure what that says about a Chinese restaurant. The fried rice was fine, but wasn't spectacular either (it's hard to mess up fried rice). Could've used a bit more seasoning. Everything else we ordered (flat noodles and sizzling beef) lacked so much flavor. The beef was practically tasteless, same with the noodles. We felt disrespected from the start! The owner rudely asked us to wait outside when we politely said that we prefer to wait for a table of 4 instead of taking him up on his offer to sit at a big shared table. After getting us seated, they kept serving others and ignoring us. The fried rice that they served us was visibly lower in quantity than the table next to us for the exact same dish. Then they made us wait an inordinate amount of time for spring rolls that we ordered at the end because the amount of food that we got was far less than we had anticipated. Finally, when they realized that we weren't happy, they preemptively came with a check that included gratuity of 15% even though we were only a party of 4! This has to be the worst Chinese American restaurant I ever been to. The front desk lady has the most arrogant and condescending attitude I have ever seen. We were in a hurry and ordered food that she said would be ready in five minutes. Instead I had to wait twenty minutes when the kitchen was not busy at all. Despite that I was expecting the food to be not great since this is a tourist town but this restaurant still took me by surprise. They used too much salt / msg / oil. The fried rice was also soggy which was disgusting and should not have had been served. Also the price they charge for these dishes are ridiculous even for someone who is coming from New York City. After a long day of hiking we discovered this restaurant on Yelp. Although the initial ratings didn't seem too good, we decided to try it anyway. It was solid! This place has a good mix of Chinese dishes suitable for western and native Chinese (my parents) palates. We ordered the beef short ribs, beef in hot chili oil (水煮牛肉), fish and tofu hotpot and a combo #1 with lemon chicken and beef greens (basically broccoli beef with a variety of veggies). The beef dishes were very tender. The fish tofu hot pot was nice and the sizzling skillet on which it was served made heads turn as it was brought out. Overall a solid place to get Chinese food (might be the only place around here). A little on the pricey end but then again everything seems to be marked up around these tourist hotspots. read more

Just had a really bad experience here. We arrived at 7:30pm and nothing showed up till when we decided to leave at 8:50pm. Everyone else who came in later than we did got their foods somehow. We gave up after 3 pushes were told 3 times that our foods were coming soon. Obviously, there was something going wrong but no one could tell what was going on and no one had it managed. Our family went to the restaurant last evening, the food was delicious, fresh and not very salty. Even better, a few meat dishes also came with tasty vegetables and it was exactly what we wanted for healthy foods. The flavor and freshness of the food was way above my expectation. I took one star off due to the same complaints other reviews had, the service lady could have been more friendly when we initially stepped into the store. She simply asked us to wait outside without explaining why (it was close to 9 pm and not many customers were in). After many days of western style food, we were ready for some Asian food so we decided to go for Chinese Cantonese food. We were hesitant at first due to not so good customer service rating for the place. Well our exp was positive for our visit. And not to mention this was the only game in town. The other cantonese place closed down in Jasper. After we set down, we were given the option for tea or water. Shortly after we ordered our food, it all came out in about 10mins. Waitress was nice to us and checked with us a few times to makes the food was okay. May be she wasn't busy so she had the time to check on us? Whatever it was we didn't care, glad that she was cool. We order 3 entrees and rice. All came out tasty. The peking pork chop was not the best I had, IMHO it could be better, but the sauce was good and sour. Cooking style was for sure Cantonese HK style. Specially the Asian lady, while we waited 30 minutes for the food, we asked her to follow up, her response was "I couldn't ask the chef, because so many orders, that I couldn't do anything " with impatience and short tempered speaking tone. Well, I understand that was the busy hour, but they are not the first day to run the business, they should expect what is in the busy hours, and should explain to customer patiently! I also feel like they racism, they served better with English speaking customers. We can speak English, but we talk to them in Cantonese because we know they are Cantonese too. We walked in because we were hungry for some Chinese food and were pretty happy with the choice. It's very Chinese if that's okay to say. They played Chinese music the entire time which is unusual for me but it wasn't a deal breaker. I ordered the deep fried pork ribs which was basically bite size cut up bone with a little meat or fat on it. It was great. My wife had the pork dumplings and that was really yummy also. The service was ok but not amazing. Amazing to me is waiting for me to look their way and them coming over and asking what they can do for me. This is arguably the worst Chinese food I have ever had. Also the worst service. It took them 15 min to come to get our order with 15 tables in the entire place and only half it being occupied. The pictures of the food on their menu are fake and don't look anything like the food brought to you. You get water ONCE.We asked 5 times to have our water refilled. It never happened. BYOW. The food came in bits and pieces. If you enjoy finishing your food before your partner gets thiers (They ordered dumpling), then this place is for you. The food was the most bland crap I have ever had. Even after immersing it in salt, it tasted like crap. Totally worthless place to go. You get NO service. if there would be a zero star option, I would not have rated a 1 star. Worst experience ever! Visited the restaurant twice, but ended up with leaving without dining eventually. The first time the restaurant was very busy and all the tables were taken. My wife politely asked how long we would have to wait but got inpatient response and asked us to wait outside... In the second time, my wife wanted to give this restaurant a second chance since she wanted the kids to have some Chinese vegetable dishes after a couple of days in the mountain. Unfortunately, it's proven to be a bad decision as we were annoyed by their awful service again. We, a group of six people including two 7 yrs old, were left out there without any reception nor any eye contact... The service was even way worse than those cheap Chinese restaurants in New York Chinatown... Regardless of how good the flavor the dishes could be (actually based on my observation of the other tables' food, it's def not authentic Chinese food), the restaurant should learn how to respect their customers first. So, if you want to pay and get treated like shit, go for it! Otherwise, stay away from it. read more

Terrible service, mediocre food, small portions, and expensive. We were seated (after an hour wait), and then after thirty minutes had passed, we had not even been addressed by the servers or handed menus. We had to go behind the counter and grab menus ourselves, and then had to flag down the server three times before she even took our order (after she had brushed us away several times). If we hadn't done all of this grunt work ourselves, this whole ordering process would have taken even longer. It was infuriating partially because they had taken the orders and fully served people that came AFTER us while we were still waiting to be talked to. We realized that if you have a party of greater than 2, the wait staff here will pretty much ignore you and you'll have to do all of the work yourself. We saw the same lack of service with other parties of 4+ that we experienced. Even after all of this, the food was mediocre at best. We ordered the Ma Pow Tofu, the vegetable tofu, the Hong Kong style noodles, and the Singapore style noodles. food was bland and unimpressionable. They also brought the dishes out one by one, each twenty minutes apart, and although we ordered rice, never brought it, despite being asked multiple times. I did go in and placed my order but felt it was unnecessary and not helpful. My order was prepared in the alloted time. When I got back to my cabin approximately 40Km away I was missing an item.
