This is a very nice restaurant. The parking is a little restricted but decent. We mostly get the salad bar. The salad bar is excellent. It is always fresh and looks great. We make a trip here whenever we want a fresh salad!

I never heard of "Jason Deli" until I arrived at RVA. Therefore I had to stop in and give them a try. The location is nice and quiet. The menu is pretty limited to salad and sandwiches and some pasta options. I thought they were a little pricey being as though I only ordered and salad and baked potato which coated me almost $20. (However the baked potato was HUGE and the salad was serve yourself style at the salad bar) Customer service was nice. They helped me maneuver through the menu and questions since it was my first time here. And I loved the taste of the ranch dressing. I just wish salad bar had meat options.

Jason's Deli is a decent spot for a quick lunch. They have an assortment of sandwiches, soups, salads, and hot dishes. Nothing that is going to wow you yet reliable. Everyone has always been friendly, and they are usually pretty quick You order at the counter, and then they bring your order to the table Nice salad bar Bonus free soft serve ice cream Tables are really close together My rating rationale  +1 Service +.5 Food~Taste/flavor/quality +.5 Presentation + 5 Atmosphere/vibe + 1 Value

Jason's is pretty reliable for a quick lunch. The sandwiches are decent and the service is good. You order at a counter, they give you a number to place on your table and then you pour your own fountain drink. There's a good looking salad bar but I've never tried it. The dining area is a bit crowded. I've never seen them totally full so I feel removing a couple of tables would provide a more comfortable experience. The cold cut type sandwiches don't seem to be high quality meats, probably on par with Subway's sandwich meats. There's free ice cream available by the soft drink area so there's a teat to enjoy when you finish your meal.

    My $17 grilled cheese combo

People are nice but the food and the pricing are horrendous. I ordered a grilled cheese with tomato combo (soup sandwich and drink) the grilled cheese was a joke, 1 slice of cheese on charred bread and no tomato... when asked about the tomato she said she can put one on the side for me. Also why cut your sandwiches into quarters? Am I 3yrs old? Weird.... Soup was average and taste like any generic soup served in cafeterias. I would think for almost $18 they'd try to dress it up a lil bit but no. You got me this time Jason!! But sorry I won't be back again.

    Chicken salad? WTF?

WTF actually is this? I ordered a chicken salad sandwich. This is the most vile thing that has ever been delivered to me. It is SO dry. WAYYYYYY to many nuts. Wayyyy to much pineapple. It's crumbly chicken salad. The bread was over toasted and burnt. I'm not sad I didn't get a whole sandwich because I am absolutely not eating this anyway. Worst part is it was Uber eats, and I can't even complain. How did whoever packed this, look at this and think.... "Hmmm that looks like something someone would enjoy eating." Vile. Never again.

    Beefeater and chicken Alfredo

visited this location several times and it's usually a pretty good location. me and my daughter love the salad bar, pretty good selection. my daughter loves the chicken Alfredo, you can't go wrong with the nachos and the beefeater is perfect for a cold day. a bonus for kids is always the free ice cream. the options are pretty health, the portions are decent and its an affordable meal for a family.

    Pastrami and Swiss on rye

The staff here was so nice, even better thank the food. I ordered the Californian without bacon with extra lettuce. The croissant was pretty fluffy and fresh and all the sandwich was pretty good. The avocado was a little oxidized and I didn't get extra lettuce. I ended up with extra Mayo instead which made the sandwich a little messy. I like the fact there were multiple types of iced tea to make my Arnold Palmer pretty special. The chips come on the plate so if you think you're going to take them home for later you are sadly mistaken. My mom loved her pastrami and Swiss so it was a win!

As such, it doesn't exactly feel great to be downgrading my review, but my previous sentiments aren't necessarily accurate anymore. My visits have dropped off in recent months, and it seems like the restaurant itself is dropping off, too, if you just read some of their latest reviews or stop in. I know they had a shift in their ownership, and it appears to be reflecting poorly on the restaurant. I'm not a big craft beer drinker anymore, but it turns out that doesn't matter, as Crafted is no longer a craft beer spot (see the picture I posted today for their offerings). I used to looooove traipsing over there to try their rotating draft list with some top-tier brands on it. This past weekend, I had a beer-loving friend in town from another state, so we stopped in on Thursday night. The bar area was pretty empty around 7 pm. I was embarrassed that I wasted his time, as they just serve domestics and the most basic of local pours these days. When I talked to the bartender about it, he seemed fairly nonchalant and informed me that Crafted can mean more than beer, such as craft food and craft cocktails. So let's talk about the craft cocktail I ordered. I selected the espresso martini. I love a good espresso martini. Crafted managed to serve me the worst one I genuinely think I've ever consumed. It was weirdly frigid, crunchy, and looked like it was curdling upon arrival. I don't know how they managed it, but I would highly recommend not ordering one of those. I've ordered quite a bit from their food menu over the years. I didn't order any food on our latest trip to see if it fits the "craft" label, but I've been within the past few months for dinner and it was just okay. Nothing extraordinary. I know they're impacted by inflation so I won't comment on the drastic price increases I've seen beyond saying they have been pretty steep jumps for decreasing quality. At this point in time, unless they have a major revamp, I don't see a reason to return. I'd rather spend my money on an experience I know is going to be better and my money will be appreciated, such as at my other neighbors, Acacia and Shagbark.

I highly recommend starting with the drinks -- the menu has a wide variety of creative options, but…read moreeven the well drinks were solid. Great bar all around. As for the food, the crab dip has more of a soup-like consistency, so if you're expecting something thick and hearty, it might not be for you. The chips and queso were pretty basic -- not bad, but nothing memorable. On my first visit, I ordered the beef and cheddar, but the beef was really dry, and I wouldn't recommend it. On a return visit, I got the club wrap with onion rings, and it was much better -- flavorful, fresh, and well put together. Service has been consistently attentive and welcoming, which always makes a difference. I'll definitely be back to explore more of the menu.

Only street parking is available, but it wasn't too difficult to find a spot. The atmosphere: Very rustic vibe with some farmhouse-style decor. They have table, high-top, bar, and patio seating available. The food: I opted for the Chicken and Waffles with a side of cheese grits. I chose to make it hot for more spice. It's served with one whole waffle, two large pieces of fried chicken, and syrup on the side. The chicken was not seasoned as much as I hoped and wasn't as spicy as I expected, which was a bummer. The cheese grits were alright as well, but not as flavorful as I hoped. My partner ordered the Double Barrel Bowl, and he really enjoyed it. It was packed with pulled pork and was plentiful and filling. The service: Great and kind service from Mave (I believe that is her name but I'm not entirely sure). If they aren't part of the decor, it was a treat nonetheless. We stepped inside from the rain with a parking spot very near the door. I snapped a pic on the way in to capture it's essence. We risked another walk-in with no reservations, and we snagged two prime end seats on the communal table. There were two open seats at the bar as well; might come in handy some other rainy Thursday night. The server, Murphy M., judging by the receipt, who helped my partner and I with our order, was a gracious host and incredibly well-practiced. It was a master class in serving, made effortless by him. He could not have been more accommodating, as we saw him appear inevitably at the exact right moments. Our server offered us bread and oil before the appetizer. The bread here is made fresh daily. It was so soft, I could not tell the difference from store bought. The food was exquisitely well prepared, the chefs and kitchen staff are immensely skilled. The appetizer was presented to us within a relatively short amount of time. We had time for a short discussion before the it arrived. The Tiropita was described as "four pieces of heaven." Accurate. The phyllo was thin and crisp, and the feta was creamy and delicious. I was careful not to bite too hard and ruin my pants. I had the Kotopoulo, which is a feta-brined oven-baked chicken with lemon and herbs served with lemon potatoes. The dish was cooked to perfection. The cooked potatoes were exactly as I like them, soft yet held their shape. It was an excellent meal, if a bit unwieldy (it's like half a rotisserie chicken, basically). My partner had the Hilopites, an egg noodle dish with giant beans, pine nuts, kalamata olives, cherry tomatoes, and feta, in a creamy, savory sauce that I couldn't begin to describe with mere words. The meals were both stunning, made unclear by my disastrous photography. All that being said, I did not really enjoy my meal as I was expecting. Maybe it's me, maybe it's today, or maybe the flavors simply weren't what I am accustomed to with the dozens of Greek restaurants from my past. I'm uncertain, and that's okay sometimes.
