Dined for lunch with a friend today. Was very excited about checking out the place as the menu online had so much to offer. After entering the antique mall, we had a hard time finding the spot as we missed the sign on the sidewalk pointing us in the right direction. Once we arrived we were promptly seated and given menus. Unfortunately what is listed online is not what was available. It was a much more limited offering but still had some good options. I went with the ham & cheese rolls that came with a with salad and a cup of soup - I chose pumpkin bisque. My friend ordered the chicken salad sandwich with a side of pasta salad. Both meals were so tasty! The chicken salad sandwich was a monster. My friend had to take half home. My meal was just enough and too good to not eat all of it. The service was attentive and the cafe wasn't loud or crowded. I will definitely be back again soon! read more

Wonderful lunch spot in a quirky location inside Project One, an interior decor store. The restaurant is small, and seats fill up fast, so go early (11:30) or late (1:00) to avoid a wait for a table and food service. Lulabelles offers quite the Southern lunch experience. They have a large sandwich menu (lots of pimento cheese), salads, quiche and soups. Everything we tried was absolutely delicious. Their grilled cheese of the day was French onion - crusty bread, Swiss cheese, caramelized onions, and Dijon mustard. Oo la la! The other sandwiches our party ordered were fresh and piled high with meat and cheese. No one was disappointed. They have wonderful iced tea, and offered a raspberry lemonade as their special drink. We were full to try dessert but the baked goods but they looked delicious. I'm not surprised this place is popular, and they certainly don't need foot traffic to fill their tables. Lulabelles would be an excellent place to take out of town guest for a taste of Southern hospitality. After lunch, you can spend the afternoon browsing the neighboring Crossroads Art Center, which we did with our guests this week. read more

A really cozy quaint space that serves excellent food! Lulabelles is a small lunch spot located in the back of a Antique furniture shop. In a big strip mall with plenty of space parking is not an issue. A first it feels a little odd walking through a furniture spot but hidden inside is a gem of a spot. When I got there they were in the middle of a lunch rush, and with 2 servers getting seated and getting our order taken wasn't the most seamless endeavor. But I have been before and chalk the lack of service on a short staff and plenty of customers. On to the food. They have a board of revolving specials and deserts. I had the chefs salad and my wife had the Estelle. We also ordered some of their specialty drinks, Peach Sweet Tea and Lavender Lemonade. Everything was very delicious. At the end of the day this wasn't the first time I've been here and definitely won't be the last. read more

It's like a secret! Cute hidden cafe behind antiques treasures. Servers are friendly and run the little cafe so smoothly. This is my favorite place for a relaxing lunch during the week - the supreme soup and salad spot. Highly recommend the chicken salad and daily soups. read more

My son's family and I found a nice surprise gem. Tucked away in the antique mall, the cafe's vibe was a perfect match for a Saturday lunch stop. We all ordered from the specials chalkboard menu. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. read more

I loved their old location in Westhampton, and I love their new location inside Project 1 off Staples Mill/Broad. This is a GREAT lunch spot--soups, salads, quiches, flatbreads, desserts, coffee... Nothing too heavy, and everything I've tasted so far is tasty. Rustic, casual atmosphere. Fair prices. They close at 3 p.m. When I went the first time (at this location), it was 2:45 p.m. and there were no other customers there. The girl told us they close at 3. We asked if we should leave. She told us it was up to us. Then when we decided to stay, she kept hinting at us to hurry up. I ordered flatbread. She warned us that it took 10 minutes. That wasn't a problem for me, but apparently it was for her. I missed the cue initially, but after she kept talking about closing out her drawer and there being no soup because they turned off the burners a while ago, I realized that they try to get out of there at 3 on the dot, not just stop admitting diners. The very next day, I went back and got a different waitress. It was around 2:30 p.m. and quite packed. That time, I got no feeling that anyone was being rushed out. I was in and out by 3! Anyhow. Enjoy the salads. And spicy deviled eggs. And the Megan is a great sandwich, too. The pumpkin bread was just average as was the Thai chicken soup. read more

This is a really comforting little place in a terrible location. It is tucked in the rearmost area of a home fashion store, in a 1950's era strip mall that has been converted into an antique mall (with a neighborhood pharmacy hanging on at the end.) We have now been twice -- once pre-corona, once for quarantine take out. Our first trip, I looked at the menu beforehand was pretty interested in some of the selections. My heart sort of sank as I realized where it was, and even more as we walked through the store looking for what I now believed would be a snack counter. Boy, was I wrong. Great sandwiches, soups, and salads. Daily specials that are off the beaten path. Just really nice touches and unexpected ingredients things that make you say "I would have ordered this anyway and it would be fine, but man doesn't that (insert surprise ingredient) make this outstanding?" The space is walled off from the storefront, so you feel comfortable and welcome. The staff is very friendly and willing to take adjustments to orders with a smile. Second trip was curbside during the virus. The food was up to the previous standard and was ready when promised. I am so glad Lulabelles has been able to hold on during these challenging times. Lulabelle's location in the back of an antiques store gives it a bit of the feel of a drugstore counter from a bygone era. On the other hand, the food is a 21st century twist on comfort. At $9 the Pimento cheese biscuits served with a cup of soup and a mixed greens salad was a bargain. I chose the roasted red pepper corn chowder. All were delicious but the soup not the biscuits were what I envisioned. I would definitely call the biscuits rolls and the soup had more potatoes than corn so would have been more accurately called roasted red pepper and potatoes. The roast beef on a brioche bun with garlic aioli and jalapeño relish was delicious. The flavors melded beautifully. For dessert we had a chocolate-covered orange ice cream sandwich. A wonderful place for a lunch date. The food was delicious. Old stand by's and unique new goodies. My husband and I shared a beet salad with peach vinaigrette and I had a flatbread with tomatoes and he had a French soup grilled cheese sandwich. Everything was great, the service was very friendly, and the atmosphere was pleasant. A true gem worth hunting down. read more

Want a sandwich as good or better than your grandmother made you? Go to Lulabelle's Cafe. Everything is made from scratch, and is delicious. Fresh ingredients thoughtfully prepared are served in a cozy spot in the back of an Antiques Mall. The only thing I would like to see improved is the selection of beer and/or wine, as they occasionally run out of both. It may be a storage issue, as it really is "cozy". But that's a minor quibble because the food is so good. read more

This was such a cute cafe in the back of an antique shop. Every sandwich sounded amazing, but I went with the quiche. Bacon, Gouda and green onion. Huge serving for the price. Definitely will go back or try a boxed lunch to go. read more

In a beautiful setting this gem of a cafe is not just for the "ladies who lunch". Small and intimate, a great place for a quiet un-rushed lunch. Iced Tea was brewed on site (as I was told). It was delicious. Our lunch choices of tuna sandwich and a turkey, green apple and brie sandwich (sorry, I can't remember the name) were great. Our servers were great. As we had several refills of the delicious iced tea (it was a very hot day!). The service was good. My wallet would have paid more, but it was happy that I had a great lunch, at a very fair price. What a great find here in Richmond. Super fresh ingredients paired with inventive, out-of-the-box entree choices make this a must-try establishment in the area. I honestly wanted to try 4 or 5 more items on the menu, especially the specials! I went with the fried tomato BLT with pimento cheese (that's what sold me) with German potato salad on the side. Both were excellent and tasted like only the freshest ingredients were used. I also had a cup of the tomato soup which was prepared exactly the way I like it, not too runny, not to chunky, but with a nice consistency and flavor that matched up well with my entree. I'll be back next time I'm in town! read more

This is a unique eating experience! We stumbled onto it while out running errands and were totally charmed. The fact that you have to go through an antique/housewares shop to find it is a little bit storybook (I kept think of going through the back of the cupboard in "The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe"). The coffee was serviceable, the sandwiches were delightful and the service was warm. The fact that it appeals to a more mature crowd was also an endorsement. read more

Great little spot right in the middle of Project 1 ... furniture, decorator items, antiques., etc. Reserved an early mid-week lunch for 12 seasoned ladies. Everyone loved their choices and raves about their lunch! Some even had room for a yummy dessert. They want to come back, so this was a hit! Pleasing 12 ladies is not easy, but Lulabelle's made everyone happy read more

Came here with my boss and her 2 month old who I nanny for the first time today. First off: I read the reviews and everyone said the customer service was absolutely great, so I was looking forward to that. Well, when I came customer service was HORRIBLE!!!!!!!! My boss had to drop something off next door, so I grabbed a table for us. There was one table left and a couple in front of me. They were generous enough to give me the table since I had the baby with me. I sat down with the baby and looked around and saw 2 ladies working. I assumed they give you the menus because I saw them on the wall/counter. I literally sat there for OVER 10 MINUTES AND NO ONE CAME TO GIVE ME A MENU OR WATER!! If that were my child I would have left but since I was waiting for my boss I decided to stay for 5 minutes extra and finally my boss came. When she arrived I told her that no one even came over to me, when I could have easily been here to eat by myself. No one asked how many people were in my party or anything! The lady finally came over to take our orders (which also took like 20min of her walking past us) & after it took her forever to ask us for our check. ONE STAR for customer service. Food: The food was GREAT when it came out. I ordered the fried green tomato BLT. It comes with a side that you can pick from. I ordered the collard greens. It was super sweet, I would never order it again. My sandwich though was the best part! Really tasty, crunchy and flavorful! My boss ordered the Brunswick stew and she said it was so good! It's a shame the customer service was horrible when I went in, especially when I had a newborn with me. The food was great, I would definitely eat again but the customer service left a bad taste in my mouth. read more

Went there for lunch. They were super busy which is normal for this spot. And we still received the best service! And the food was so so good. I had the quiche and salad combination. It was delicious. And My iced tea glass was never empty. I will return soon. And it was fun to walk through the shops before reaching the restaurant. read more

Still one of the best lunch places on the West side of Richmond (near I64). Wife and I had lunch there yesterday. Pandemic has affected them but the owners have stayed positive and continue to serve the best sandwiches and sides in the Richmond area. You can have your lunch inside or outside. Take out is also available. Try Lulabelles...you will be have a superb lunch. read more

One of the best sandwiches I have had. Great service and everybody is so friendly! I would recommend the Jessie if you like a spicy kick. I paired it with a side of German potato fries. It was Friday around 1:30 when I realized I hadn't eaten lunch yet but wanted to get out of the office for a breather. As I usually do, I looked to Yelp to see what might be in my area. I have my normal cycle of lunch places but just wasn't feeling it for any of them so ventured further. As I drove down Libby, I was considering Continental Westhampton since it's one of my favorite places, but I saw this little cafe called Lulabelles pop up in my nearby results so decided to give it a try. I would be surprised if anyone who came to Lulabelle's didn't walk away happy for the meal. This is good food and super friendly people. Their lunch selection includes some amazing-sounding sandwiches to go along with their daily specials. After studying the menu for longer than it should take, I ordered the Estelle sandwich with black-eyed peas for my side dish. I don't recall the exact blend of ingredients on the sandwich but it was a grilled toasty goodness with turkey, cheese, apple and some other stuff that made it a great meal. The black-eyed peas were perfectly tender, cooked with some tomatoes, that complimented the flavor of the peas and made for a great side order. This was my first visit to Lulabelles. I'm sure I wouldn't have ever found it without Yelp's help, but I know I'll be talking about it with each follow-up visit. read more

Stopped in here while running errands and wanted to take a break. I got the mason- turkey, avocado and bacon on wheat bread and a side of chips. I didn't care for the chips, probably would have preferred something homemade from the cafe like the potato salad instead but I wasn't in the mood for it! The sandwich was stacked high and had a chipotle dressing on there, which enhanced the flavor! The interior is casual and laid back, definitely a good place to stop and relax. I also got a coffee, strong flavor and not watered down. I sat at the window and got to people watch, always a good time! They sure know how to dress up a nice turkey sandwich! This place is delightful! The sandwiches are all incredible. The fried green tomato appetizer is a must. The breading is perfect and is served with the best pimento cheese in the south, deliciously spicy with a surprising whipped texture. The beet salad is great. My husband was very happy with the shepherd's pie. I tried it, and it was both comforting and expertly seasoned. You need to eat here! Both vegetarians and carnivores will leave happy. I want to add, that they do serve beer & wine now and have dinner hours on Wed-Sat, from 5-9. read more

This was pretty good lunch spot! It is in the back of Project 1 Antique Store and advertised in the front. I ate the Lee and it was very good, even though the BBQ sauce came out on the side. The Mac and Cheese was nothing special but just alright. My boyfriend ate the Pauly B and loved it! The sweet tea tasted like burnt leaves honestly, but the lemonade was excellent. I had the brownie at the end and it was fine, again nothing super special about it. They do not serve straws and only bring silver ware with your meal. The place isn't that big so I wouldn't ever bring a group of more than 5 people. The noise level is pretty quiet so I also wouldn't bring any noisy toddlers or children. Much of the crowd was older (over 55) the day we came, but it looked easy to get around if you are disabled. read more

The menu has so many tempting options that it was hard to choose, but we both landed on the Hot Chicken Sandwich with cayenne butter--and we're glad we did. It had the perfect amount of heat: enough to bring some spice without overpowering the flavor. On the side, I ordered the green beans after our bartender/server highly recommended them. Normally, green beans wouldn't be my first choice, but they were seasoned perfectly and ended up being one of the biggest surprises of the meal. Despite arriving on a Friday night without a reservation, we had no trouble getting a table. They only accept reservations for parties of 5-8, so I'm glad we decided to take our chances. Note that this is not how they are usually served, it was Briana's favorite way to eat this dish so she made the decision for me. The porkchop was very very good. Nice grill marks, onions, and a very nice cream-based sauce. This was so so good. They are doing great food at this new location and I will be back again.

I got myself an egg and cheese sandwich on a buttermilk biscuit (delicious, by the way) with pepper jack cheese, veggies (tomato, lettuce, and avocado), and for a dollar extra, one of their vegan breakfast sausage patties. I was immediately impressed by how flavorful the patty was- you get a crispness upon the first bite and then the creaminess of the beans afterwards. It was absolutely incredible in a way I can't even describe. I also got the Thai iced coffee, which tasted as sweet as a typical Thai iced tea, yet in coffee form. I may only be spending a few days in Richmond, but I'm absolutely coming back next time I'm here to try more things. DIVINE! The woman behind the counter was super sweet too.
