Had so much hope for this place as the lattes looked really tasty, especially the pre batched bags of coffee, but was let down as I noticed my coffee was made with pre-batched, chilled espresso. From what I saw, all lattes were made this way and unfortunately, it did show. Both the regular whole milk vanilla latte I had and the Ube (more tolerable) tasted both watered down and flavorless, as well as slightly sour and bitter, despite the fact that I could taste the syrups in both lattes. If sweetness in your coffee is paramount, then this place isn't bad, but if you're a regular iced latte/ coffee drinker, I'd look elsewhere. I came here on a veryyyy busy saturday and hoped to get some study time but let me tell you this place makes it difficult because of it's popularity. I swear the entire time I was here (~2 hours) the line was extending to the door. It was crazy. After trying my coffee I understood why they're so busy all day. It is my new favorite coffee in Richmond by a long shot. Unfortunately I ended up spilling my coffee on my laptop and am scarred for life and will probably never be back to this location. I came here with a friend on a hot afternoon looking for a cool drink. I spotted a latte special with Ube and coconut and wanted to try it. I was a bit disappointed that they only offer whole or oat milk, as I was used to having more milk options (like low fat or nonfat). I can't drink whole milk and I'm not a big fan of oat milk. The barista recommended that I try the oat milk and said if I didn't like the drink, they would make me something else. I asked for light oak milk and hoped for the best. My latte was served in layers, so I got a big blast of oat milk in my first sip, but after I mixed my latte, it tasted so much better. The coconut flavor really came through and offset the oat milk flavor. I was really happy with my drink and with the super helpful barista. I'll for sure be coming back! read more

The coffeeshop is typically very busy they have indoor and outdoor seating if you just want a space to chat and sip. I typically take my coffee to go. I love how much the coffee scene has grown in Richmond over the years. This spot is one I can rely on whenever I visit (which is often). I've loved them for their ube lattes because it's done so well in the summer. And now I love their seasonal holiday menu -- the gingerbread latte was amazing! The hints of ginger were strong but I dug it because you can't have enough ginger in the winter. Always a great idea to get as much ginger as you can inside of you. lol. If you need a dairy alternative like me, their options are oat milk. There are no nut-based milks. Also, this is a great place to grab coffee beans! I have yet to grab one but one day I will. This space is big so you definitely have a place to sit. BUT the lines do get extremely long during the weekends. It moves though so you aren't on line for too long. And if it's not too crowded on the weekend day that you are there, you can grab a seat. I always take mine to go! Fair warning that the parking lot is always packed since they have like 7 spaces? Saw really good reviews and needed to try. I enjoy trying specials that are unique to that cafe, and the iced strawberries and cream latte did not disappoint! In a nutshell my experience can be summed up with "it was nice".....I love that they have a milk substitutions for those with dairy allergies or that's just one's preference. However, I do not like whole milk, oat, almond or soy. Why do I only have those to choose from? I drink nonfat. The flavor of vanilla latte was okay. I couldn't get pass the scorch oat milk. The milk was steam too high or they were not using a barista oat milk causing the separation when heated. read more

I'm a coffee lover extraordinaire. I was excited to go to this place because it was highly recommended by a friend. As anyone can see by my other reviews, I give a lot of 4 and 5-star ones, and am generally not a complainer. When I rate something low, there's really a reason. There was nothing for me to like about this place. First, there was no signage to speak of. It wasn't real easy to find. I didn't even know I had found the right place until I saw the name of the place on the bags of coffee. When I came in, it was a cold feeling, not a friendly one. Every person I dealt with behind the counter wasn't warm or inviting. I got the feeling that they felt I "should have known" where to order, and "should have known" where to wait, or to pick up my coffee. I got a takeout hot coffee but had to interrupt and kindly ask for a lid. And when I did I got a vibe like I was an irritation or something. I went out to the car with my coffee and told my husband I hoped it was really outstanding coffee with what I had to go through to get it. And you know what, it wasn't all that great. Came here on a Sunday around 10:30 and so did everyone else! That goes to show, they are doing something right at Blanchard's! There were about 4 groups in-front of us in line when we arrived, and I was very impressed with how quickly they got to us. Once we ordered, we did not wait long for our drinks to be ready either. There is very limited parking in the designated parking lot, but we were able to find a spot on a side street behind. As for dining in, there is a lot of seating inside (and a variety too) as well as some outdoor tables. I got the Iced Banoffee Latte which was really unique, but I enjoyed it! Since moving to RVA, I've come to know the blanchard's brand of coffee. It's sold at many stores and is pretty popular here. When i discovered, they also have a coffee shop I knew I wanted to stop by. Came through on saturday morning. The shop itself has a super modern/minimalist vibe- very bright and spacious. The coffee itself is of course guaranteed to be good. I had an interesting cold brew lemonade combo. I don't know why the citrus and bitterness works so well but it DOES. I visited the Broad st. Blanchard's today for a work meeting. First of all, Blanchard's Coffee is a Richmond staple and favorite. They make delicious coffees and have some of the best seasonal drinks in town. This location is easy to visit from the Pulse bus stop. There is also free parking out front. On this visit I ordered their holiday mocha latte which had tasty dark chocolate and peppermint flavors. I also tried their overnight oats. I wasn't able to heat up their overnight oats and they got a bit too sweet for me, but were yummy overall. This Blanchard's is always packed. It gets a bit loud, so if you are looking for a quiet work environment, this might not be the stop for you. They do, however, have strong wifi and a few outlets if you do want to work. They have a huge variety of beans to take home up front. I decided to get their holiday blend this visit too. Ignoring how crowded this spot gets, it is not a bad spot to meet someone, especially since they have really good coffee. read more

Favorite coffee shop in Richmond!! They have always had excellent coffee but the expansion of their space is the real winner for me. The vibes are immaculate here and you can for sure find a seat and a quiet place to work (with outlets!) in one of their many rooms. The main space is still nice and bright although it's definitely louder than the other rooms, but a great space for conversation. When I want to treat myself to some good coffee, Blanchard's is at the top of my list. The coffee is on the pricey side, but it is excellent quality and I strongly prefer it over large global chains. Their loyal customer base seems to agree, as no matter what time of day I visit there are always people there enjoying a beverage and the atmosphere. The space is light, bright, and cozy with simple natural wood accents and concrete floors. The staff is always pleasant and very quick at getting out orders. The menu is small and changes often but you can always ask about customizations, such as changing from dairy to oat milk at no charge or adding flavoring. My favorite is their ice vanilla latte, which is not always listed on the menu but you can get it any time. They also offer a small selection of pastries, sometimes gluten free, as well as items packaged to go such as kombucha, craft beer, and snacks. Very recently they've added Saturday brunch and cocktail options which I haven't tried but all look really good. There is both a small parking lot and free street parking available behind the shop. There are no steps or ramps so the building is mobility-aid accessible, although be aware that the tables are quite close together inside so finding a seat may be difficult. read more

Very bright, calm and has lots of lights! Has a parking lot! It can be hard to sit indoors because lots of VCU students take up space and stay there for hours. However service is very quick! I got the Ube Iced Latte that costed around ($6), in my opinion it wasn't bad but I would not order it again. That is due to a personal preference since I'm not a coconut milk fan. read more

Ordered the ever-so-hyped-up Ube Coconut Latte not only for its aesthetic but to try out a taste I had never experienced before in Ube... shocked me how good it ended up being in combination with the tanginess of the coconut. Blanchards is also home of some of the most reliably delicious drip coffees in-town and its location is incredibly convenient right off Broad Street no matter what direction you're headed. Plenty of seating with so much natural lighting - super modern and sleek. The patio area outside is great on a sunny day. Fairly quick service, despite the crowds. Got an iced dirty chai latte with oatmilk and vanilla. The drink was delicious and I have no complaints about it. However, one thing I value the most is customer service and honestly this coffee shop could work on it. The barista's here tend to be a little unwelcoming and always seem to be a little "uppity." Obviously friendliness is not a requirement but it sure is appreciated and it will create a completely different environment. With all this being said, I did still like going here and will probably go again in the future. I really liked their outside patio area, it was very nice and relaxing. The interior of the cafe is definitely a modern/industrial vibe that fits well in the city.
