I loved the unique-ness & whimsy of this coffee shop! The personality and passions of the owners is visible in such a positive way. Another plus is the blended menu of standard, classic coffee & tea beverages with specialty, stand-out, house-created favorites "with a twist". These house-favorites are super yummy because they make all of their syrups in-house! How cool is that! No "pumps" of anything! I was excited to order a cinnamon vanilla latte with oatmilk, since cinnamon is one of my favorite spices. Unfortunately, it was made without oatmilk and wasn't as hot as I'd have liked. I didn't realize the milk error until I was in my vehicle, driving away. What a disappointment! Luckily, I can have dairy. Oatmilk is just my preference. So, I didn't return the drink since I'd travelled a distance away from the shop. The small coffee shop was crowded and there was only a little space to stand while waiting for my order. There were a lot of tempting items to peruse and/or buy while waiting though. They do roast, grind, and sell their own coffee, plus bottles of wine are available.

I had an absolutely lovely pre-work morning coffee date here today with one of my good friends. We arrived around 8:15am (on a Wednesday) and it wasn't busy. My friend ordered the dirty chai which she is obsessed with after her first visit here last month. She adores how rich the flavor is and how it feels like an enhanced cinnamon coffee. I've been trying to visit Sefton forever, but usually find myself near it when it's closed (on weekends). I'm thrilled I finally had the chance to visit. I ordered the Coconut Rose Latte. It was very different from what I've ordered at coffee shops in the past. I enjoyed the first few sips, but midway through the rose flavor was too strong for me. The coffee itself was amazing though and I'm excited to return to try other styles. I also got a pain au chocolat that was delicious. I spent about $14 on my oat milk latte and pastry with tip. The interior is stunning. I love how cozy and cute it is in here. It was fun to look at all the gifts and wines they had for sale. A lot of the shop gifts were my taste and I could've easily spent hundreds of dollars on them if I had no self-control. My friend mentioned that she loved a mug and would get it next time she came (I ended up buying it for $8 for her housewarming next week). I brought my laptop hoping to cowork from here, however they don't offer free wifi here. I wouldn't recommend this spot for a laptop working day. However, it's great for an intentional present moment drink with a friend or a quick stop before work. Their coffee is delicious!

The aesthetic here is unmatched - walls and store-area are wonderfully decorated - and the effort and love that goes into the flavors they offer (I got a Lemon Cookie Latte - apparently the owners made it from scratch?! like how cool is that?!). Anyways - my latte was delicious and nothing like any drink I've ever had before. Great quality coffee, but that said, it's not a good place to sit-down and work. No WiFi which is frustrating - especially for a place with as few seating options (I've heard of instances where restaurants or coffeeshops will avoid having WiFi purely to help promote community, etc - but their rationale is not super clear, and if it was about community there just isn't a ton of space to promote it. Lastly, love the shop area when you walk in - and plus, who doesn't love a dual wine-coffee bar?! Will be back.

Iced mocha

Super yummy iced mocha on a hot day! And in an ingenious no plastic drinking vessel, how great for the environment! Staff was friendly and helpful, and the vibe inside was really great. Very eclectic and artistic - definitely grabbing a second drink to go!

I visited Sefton in the mid-afternoon to grab a snack and some much needed caffeine. The vibes were super cozy and the cafe was as full of gifts and wine to purchase. The staff were super nice and had tons of recommendations for drinks. I ordered a lavender latte and a ham and cheese croissant. The lavender latte was absolutely delicious and had none of the bitter aftertaste that I've experienced with other lavender drinks. The ham and cheese croissant was warm, flaky, and perfect as an afternoon snack.

Half-eaten brown butter sourdough choc chip cookie. So good. So soft.

The iced honey breve is amazing! So tasty and sweet but not too sweet. Plus it's huge! It took me awhile to get through. I also really loved the sourdough chocolate chip cookie. Great service, cute local shop.

Cute little coffee shop that also sells pastries, some bottled wine and beer. Some street parking out front ane some parking garages as well. Outside tables with 2 seats available and some seating inside. They sell some Richmond and coffee souvenirs too. I ordered a Coconut Rose Latte and a Ham and Jam sandwich. The latte was delicious and you really get the rose come through. I loved the Ham and Jam sandwich. The apples and Jam that came with it paired really well together. Super friendly staff, would definitely come back.

There is good signage. It's now a take out only establishment since Covid. Two table are available for outdoor seating. Most customers took their orders and walked away. I visited them on a Sunday afternoon just after St. John's let out. It's just one block away and the church Patrick Henry gave a speech. There were a lot of church goers enjoying the business. Proper has a menu in the window to guide customers on choices of savory, or sweet. I wanted one of each. The man at the window was great in providing recommendations. I ordered the steak and cheese as well as the Banoffee. The preparation is already done and the man with assistant moved quickly to complete my order. I enjoyed my treats at their outdoor table and also enjoyed conversation with locals. I started with the steak & cheese which was loaded with meat and cheese. DELICIOUS! Then onto the Banoffee which smelled heavenly of cocoa. Another home run! I love bananas and if you do too this will be enjoyable. So glad I found them open on my visit. There hours are very good, but I have missed them in the Summer before on vacation. Just go, no brainer.

I ordered several of the savory scones and a couple of cookies and loved them all. Both the cookies and scones vary by flavor but we had a sweet potato scone and a lavender flavored scone. I would not normally have ordered a lavender flavored anything but my wife loves it and I am glad she does. I tried it and struggled to leave any for her. I at almost the entire scone. The sweet potato was equally as good but with a much milder flavor. And the cookies....out of this world! The servers were friendly but nothing over the top. They seemed to be a cog in the machine and churning out orders. Overall, a cute little, vegan, spot with really good pastries and coffee. Head caution on the milkshakes if you are not use to vegan milkshakes. While they taste good, at least to me, they are wildly different than an cows milk milkshake. I was tempted to get so many things but ended up opting for the Gluten Free Vegan Coffee Cake made with almond flour, it was delicious!!! You would never know it was dairy and gluten free. My boyfriend got the cheddar biscuits and loved it as well. They also have ice cream, cakes, cookies, scones, coffee, and so much more! I love that they also have vegan candy and chocolate as well as a freezer section with take and bake vegan and some gluten free options. They had frozen croissants, biscuits, breakfast sandwiches and more. The safe was super sweet and helpful too when ordering. I loved how homey and charming all the decor was and the cute wooden booths where you can sit and enjoy. The bakery is in Carytown so you are limited to street parking and pay to park parking decks. Calming spot to grab a treat, get some work done/journal, or catch up with friends in an aesthetic and modern cafe. Ordered the paradise tea with mango and avocado. The ambiance was clean and orderly. Upon entering, you grab a serving tray lined with parchment and some tongs. I settled on the pistachio cream filled pecan pastry, the almond twist, and strawberry shortcake. The beverage menu was extensive: matcha, flavored teas, cocoa, espresso/coffee, and more. We were greeted by pleasant staff at checkout and our orders placed in a parchment type bag for take out. They also have seating inside. The pastries were just sweet enough without being overly sweet, which I like. The pistachio cream was a perfect compliment to the pecan encrusted pastry. The almond twist was both flaky and crunchy with the sliced almonds on top, and the strawberry shortcake had layers of real strawberries, whipped topping and yellow cake that was moist. All were fresh. All in all, a great place to stop by for a morning pastry treat and tea/coffee while in the area,
