The Matcha Latte - whether iced or hot is such a treat. The food always looks good. The service is stellar - even when it's busy, you don't feel rushed. And the space is super-cool. Lot's of interesting articles to read at the counter. I loved the unique-ness & whimsy of this coffee shop! The personality and passions of the owners is visible in such a positive way. Another plus is the blended menu of standard, classic coffee & tea beverages with specialty, stand-out, house-created favorites "with a twist". These house-favorites are super yummy because they make all of their syrups in-house! How cool is that! No "pumps" of anything! I was excited to order a cinnamon vanilla latte with oatmilk, since cinnamon is one of my favorite spices. Unfortunately, it was made without oatmilk and wasn't as hot as I'd have liked. I didn't realize the milk error until I was in my vehicle, driving away. What a disappointment! Luckily, I can have dairy. Oatmilk is just my preference. So, I didn't return the drink since I'd travelled a distance away from the shop. The small coffee shop was crowded and there was only a little space to stand while waiting for my order. I had an absolutely lovely pre-work morning coffee date here today with one of my good friends. We arrived around 8:15am (on a Wednesday) and it wasn't busy. My friend ordered the dirty chai which she is obsessed with after her first visit here last month. She adores how rich the flavor is and how it feels like an enhanced cinnamon coffee. I've been trying to visit Sefton forever, but usually find myself near it when it's closed (on weekends). I'm thrilled I finally had the chance to visit. I ordered the Coconut Rose Latte. It was very different from what I've ordered at coffee shops in the past. I enjoyed the first few sips, but midway through the rose flavor was too strong for me. The coffee itself was amazing though and I'm excited to return to try other styles. I also got a pain au chocolat that was delicious. I spent about $14 on my oat milk latte and pastry with tip. The interior is stunning. I love how cozy and cute it is in here. It was fun to look at all the gifts and wines they had for sale. A lot of the shop gifts were my taste and I could've easily spent hundreds of dollars on them if I had no self-control. My friend mentioned that she loved a mug and would get it next time she came (I ended up buying it for $8 for her housewarming next week). I brought my laptop hoping to cowork from here, however they don't offer free wifi here. I wouldn't recommend this spot for a laptop working day. The aesthetic here is unmatched - walls and store-area are wonderfully decorated - and the effort and love that goes into the flavors they offer (I got a Lemon Cookie Latte - apparently the owners made it from scratch?! like how cool is that?!). Anyways - my latte was delicious and nothing like any drink I've ever had before. Great quality coffee, but that said, it's not a good place to sit-down and work. No WiFi which is frustrating - especially for a place with as few seating options (I've heard of instances where restaurants or coffeeshops will avoid having WiFi purely to help promote community, etc - but their rationale is not super clear, and if it was about community there just isn't a ton of space to promote it. Great offerings from 3 hometown bakers, specialty drinks galore and the coup de grace-well-curated inventory of gourmet goods-spices, spreads, salts, Italian digestifs. The coffee cups they have switched to are unique since they are all one piece and say that they're fully compostable/recyclable on the packaging. The ambiance of the place is quite nice with a lot of activist materials you can go through, and some seating with warm lighting. The service was good and the employees are friendly. I ordered a london fog, which wasn't quite explicitly on the menu but they made it anyways and it wasn't great (quite milky and not sure if they out the vanilla/lavender syrup that is usually added in them with the tea). I will preface with the fact that I am not an avid coffee drinker. However, Sefton has one of my favorite coffees ever - the iced honey breve. It is likely too sweet for a true coffee drinker. I visited Sefton in the mid-afternoon to grab a snack and some much needed caffeine. The vibes were super cozy and the cafe was as full of gifts and wine to purchase. I found this cafe on Yelp. The cafe offers a curated experience of food, drinks, and treats. It's a "West Elm-ish" coffee scene. A nice and creamy ambiance. I think I met the owner behind the counter. She greeted me warmly. (Note: I didn't know this for certain. She just seemed like she had an ownership stake in the cafe. There might be more than one owner.) I asked about the various coffee offerings on the menu before settling on a banana coffee smoothie. So happy I was able to try this cute little coffee shop! They hosted an event on a Sunday and the shop was packed!! I discovered Sefton Coffee for the first time when I moved downtown during the pandemic. Both a blessing and curse to live directly across from Sefton. Blessing because this is one of my favorite local coffee shops in Richmond. Curse because it's tempting to get coffee here each morning. I ordered an iced cafe leche latte (sweetened condensed milk similar to caramel). Great taste, not too sweet. There's only one size for an iced option, but I'm usually able to split that into two servings. I also tried their blueberry white chocolate latte, which is a unique flavor, but just not my liking. I ordered twice on the online ordering website, thinking I could wait 10 minutes and it'd be ready when I walked across the street, but my drink wasn't made until I arrived. I felt this defeated the whole purpose of ordering ahead of time. Their exterior gives off a coffee shop vibe. The inside of the shop is super cute; they have lots of little souvenir type things to buy- pens, little decorations, snacks, etc. I think the owners are a husband and wife based on the conversation I overheard but for the 5 minutes I was in the shop, the woman seemed to know at least 3 of the people, so it seems like they have a nice little community and/or have become friends with regulars. Back home I drive 25 min once a week to a coffee shop as good as this one. Imagine my surprise to find this little spot right behind my hotel while visiting Richmond! I went 4/6 days I was there. They were closed my first day and having never been before, I forgot about them the next day. On the 3rd day of my trip I went and returned every day until I left. This place is a gem! They use pure ingredients and will use less sugar per request. Yes, real sugar. No pumps of flavorings. All flavors are real ingredients. Service is super friendly and quick. FYI, it's a small shop. I've been to Sefton a couple times pre-covid but this is my first time during the pandemic. I always loved the little café vibes here at Sefton with the artsy aesthetics, clear tables, lots of greenery, and cute wooden chairs on the street. I also found their drinks to be very creative with different unique flavors and themes!! Last time I had this lavender matcha latte, which radiated the respective flavors but the matcha wasn't blended completely so there were some chunks at the bottom. Today, I initially wanted to try their spicy dark chocolate mocha, but they ran out! So I opted for the Rosehip blacked ice tea and it was quite interesting!! I'm not too familiar with rosehip but the tea tasted like "ginseng" but with black tea? The tea itself had lots of little spices which made drink very refreshing!
