I stumbled upon this coffee shop and roastery while I was in Midlothian last week. I was in the mood to try some coffee and am so happy I found this place. They roast single origin coffees onsite and sell them in completely biodegradable pods, which only stay on their shelves for up to 30 days so the coffee always tastes super fresh. They are not like other biodegradable pods you may see for sale elsewhere, these actually ensure you get a fantastic cup of coffee each time. I started talking to the baristas, Lisa and Anastasia, and shared that I used to work for Starbucks and was amazed how the same coffee could taste completely different if it was prepared differently. Lisa promptly took out two bags of coffee and prepared a pour over of each. They were the same beans, but roasted at different temperatures. She gave tastes to me and another customer. It was amazing how different the coffees tasted, and they even had different colors. It was such a cool experience! I bought a box of Columbia medium roast pods, which I've been enjoying every day this week. They have several coffees available to try, along with pastries and made to order sandwiches. It's located in an industrial area, off the main road, but is well worth the trip if you're looking for some delicious coffee. It's become my go to coffee roaster in the Richmond area. read more

*EXCELLENT* Worth the (short) drive off the main road. It's in an industrial park (business) area and tucked amongst several other businesses. The serving/dining area is small but I would guess 10 people could comfortably sit. The barista crafting drinks was working with patience and detail. And I ain't mad about it! My dirty chai was EXCELLENT!! She did a fantastic job. I love that they have the door open so that you can see the roastery in action. Such a cool experience. They have small cups for taste testing while you decide on your order. Also cool that the menu offers a few food items and several pastries. I also purchased the Ethiopian pods for my keurig. (I have been on a hunt for Ethiopian coffee pods for a while.) I will certainly visit again! read more

My fiancé and I love this spot and it's our go-to for espresso beans. I absolutely adore the baristas, they're so sweet, so helpful and Lisa has even gone above any expectation for me when it came to the toddler I had brought in. There's a bunch of seating inside and the place is so clean and smells so good. Their bagel breakfast sandwiches are sooo delicious. The parking is easy to find.. there was only 1/100s of times I've been there that the parking lot was super full, but otherwise it really isn't a common thing for me to have trouble finding a parking spot. read more

Stumbled across this hidden gem tucked away inside an industrial park--and I'm so glad I did. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by some of the friendliest baristas I've ever met. They took time to explain the background of what they do there, asked about my taste preferences, and offered personalized recommendations based on what I liked. What really stood out was how genuine and accommodating they were. They reassured me that if anything wasn't to my liking, they'd happily adjust it. They even offered free samples of their bagged coffee to customers so we could try before buying. The coffee was fantastic, but honestly, it was the people that made this place unforgettable. Guide Roasting Company's single origin coffee beans and compostable K-cups are delicious, and I can't believe they're just 5 minutes from my house. I found Guide Roasting Company by searching Google maps for local coffee shops, to have a cup with my father after an appointment. Driving there, we were both a little confused because it's not in a retail area. We were up for adventure though, so we persisted, and were glad they did. The coffee shop is in front of their commercial operation roasting and packaging coffee. The shop has a few local pastries, great friendly staff, and perhaps most importantly, they brew a mean and clean cup of coffee. From the minute I walked in I felt welcomed. The place smells amazing. You can order coffee and a snack , sit and have a nice visit with friends. They offer coffee to go, coffee by the pound and custom biodegradable pods for the Keurig type machines. The bathroom was bright , clean and spacious. Definitely worth the visit. I am constantly on the alert for new coffee roasting businesses nearby and was happy when I learned that one was very close by. Guide Roasting Company is located just off Genito Road (across from Warbro Road near the electrical store). They have a small area for sitdown service and offer a variety of pastries. I don't eat sweets so I can't let you know if they were good or not, but they looked delicious. I was there for the coffee. They had several varieties of whole bean coffee (they will grind it for you) and even pods for Keurig machines. I bought one bag of decaf and one bag of their Brazil roast as well as a box of Dominion Dark pods. I have only tried the pods so far and it is quite good. The only downside is price. They are pricey, but prices have gone up all over, so be prepared to shell out a few bucks if you want to try them. I suspect I'll be going back. read more

Ok, my wife and I like our coffee, and we were totally spoiled before moving here with a roasterie super close to us. Well, we get to be spoiled all over again, because these guys are fantastic! Colombian is my fav (a fantastic lighter roast), but from light to dark they nail it without being bitter. If you're in the area (or even if you're not), stop in and you can try pretty much any of their roasts right in their storefront! We bought 3lbs and will be back for more soon! read more
