Aw, loved the vibes here! The staff are super friendly and kind. Got to meet some sweet people here too. I got the spiced orange mocha latte which was great; good hints of spicy and orange in the latte which felt very festive. Nothing was too strong. Mudhouse is beautiful. I love the aesthetic in the front and the back area, which has a sunroof. Both areas are well lit and the back area seemed to be the quieter section. There is plenty of seating so it'd be a great spot to grab coffee to catch up with a friend or have a solo study session. It is on the pricier end of coffee shops. The menu is more minimalistic with less specialty drinks than others. House syrups are an additional $1. They have a selection of baked goods too. read more

The interior has exposed brick walls and checkered floors, and a spacious interior that has a lot of plushy seats for customers. They also have a wall of coffee merchandise like freshly roasted beans, Mudhouse printed mugs, and various coffee-making equipment. LAVENDER LEMON TONIC This is one of their seasonal drink options! I forgot how much this was, but I paid 8.59 after tax, which is expensive for what it is. The drink came in a 12 oz. cup that still had a good amount of ice even though I asked for less. The top was frothy and topped with a burnt lemon slice. The drink itself had a strong espresso flavor that paired well with the lavender and lemon syrups. The tonic was perfectly carbonated and not overly sweet. The drink combination was delightfully refreshing. Before leaving, I decided to buy a bag of beans to bring back. It came with an 8 oz. drip coffee of their house blend which was surprisingly pleasant (and I'm not normally a drip fan). Overall, glad to have tried Mudhouse and hope it opens a location near me. read more

I always profess that I'm a die hard coffee drinker except rainy days when I switch over to hot teas. Y'all proved me wrong. I tried the lavender lemon with a shot of expresso. I truly enjoyed the lavender & lemon taste and the expression gave me the rush I enjoy. Adding the expresso shot didn't overpower the taste and was quite refreshing. I added a slice of marble cake and it was truly scrumptious. The portion size was perfect. There is off street parking and the atmosphere is refreshing and relaxing. I enjoyed the staff explaining the various drinks and combos to me. Their sense of humor was also great! Grab a friend and be prepared to relax and recharge yourself... that's what I did. read more

I came to this place on my lunch break during work, then I brought my husband back the very next day because I loved the drink so much and had to have another. I've had an iced lavender latte and iced vanilla latte, and my husband had an iced coffee with vanilla cold foam - all delicious! There are tons of coffee shops so why bother with this one? Well, because it is a gorgeous, cozy place to enjoy a delicious roast or a specialty beverage like the iced lavender latte. This is a great place to with a generous amount of seating both in the front and the back if the house. They are also getting a back patio ready to open very soon. I also bought coffee to take home. I asked them to grind it. After explaining my type of coffee maker the gentleman who ground my coffee explained that the number he wrote on the back is used to determine the best grind which can be adjusted based on my preference. Being that I know nothing about coffee other than drinking it, I appreciated the explanation. The staff working were very nice and explained what the different types of different drinks. They also have a few breakfast sandwiches, pastries, cake pops etc. I live thirty minutes away but I will absolutely be back on a nice quiet summer Sunday to read, relax, and enjoy coffee and a sandwich. I didn't catch his name but the guy working the counter was super friendly and engaged in conversation. I'm so excited that Mudhouse is finally open in Richmond! I love Charlottesville and all their local businesses. I was really excited when I learned they were coming to RVA. They started their soft opening on August 5. To be honest, it went so smoothly it feels like a normal open. Upon entering, I was warmly greeted by Will. He helped explain the menu options when I asked. I decided to order their honey lavender cold foam iced coffee. It was so delicious. I loved that the foam was made from oat milk. They had a super cute cup with their logo to use in the shop. I also got a chocolate croissant and salted caramel donut. Both were super tasty. This is a great place to get some work done or meet up with someone. I visited a friend here and she ordered the same drink as me and a tiramisu. She's a huge tiramisu fan and was obsessed with Mudhouse's. This place is so dairy-free inclusive. The tiramisu was made with oat milk too. We adored our orders and are already planning a day to return. Not only is the service and food good, but the vibe is stunning. The exposed brick and natural lighting are incredible. Any of your Yelp photos are bound to look amazing. They also have a stylish space in the back for when it gets busier. It looks like they're working on a patio space too. I'm so excited that this coffeeshop is finally open and has really yummy drink options. I highly recommend visiting. read more

I was visiting RVA and had the best coffee here, I came back twice. While it's on the pricier side, the quality is top-notch and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. I had the Nitrocano and came back for the Sunburst Tonic (i think that's the name of the summer drink?) as recommended by the barista. I love this little cafe the coffee is so well made and the staff are so friendly and helpful whenever I have questions about coffee. They have their own little shop inside the cafe where you can buy products which I love. Last time I was there I had bought a coffee for a man who looked like he needed a pick me up and the barista noticed and gave me a free coffee coupon for doing that. Mud house was the only place in the area that offers hot chocolate to go boxes anymore. But the price was astronomical, $42/per box for 10 servings. Whereas, the average last year was $19-20 per box. For that price I was anticipating the best hot chocolate of my life but it honestly just tasted like Swiss miss. I paid $8 for an Iced Mocha and it was AWFUL, no sweetness, weird chocolate that sunk to the bottom, and for some reason don't stock straws, a grown woman does not want to sip iced coffee from a "sippy cup" as the barista put it. The coffeef itself was meh, not worth it and won't be going back. read more
