This past weekend I tried Blanchards brunch menu and it was great! On Saturdays the Broad st location offers a limited brunch menu while supplies last! It was very reasonably priced and the items on the menu paired great with there already really good drinks. We got the frittata and the bread pudding and both were so good! I had the autumn cold coffee and it was the perfect fall drink, and not too sweet for someone who doesn't love sweet fall drinks. As always everyone was very friendly and the shop was cute as ever! Cute location that expanded to accommodate more guests. Blanchard's is my favorite coffee in RVA.The matcha latte's are also really good here - highly recommend. If you need a bite to eat the overnight oats and chia bowl are so good as well. This location seems pretty busy each time I have stopped by but still worth a visit. This coffee shop has the cutest aesthetics - nice wooden theme with a simple, modern look and plant decor. My boyfriend and I were in town and wanted to stop by for our coffee fix in the morning. As we entered, the baristas welcomed us immediately. We tried the latte and a cafe au lait with oat milk. Their only dairy options are whole milk and oat milk! The latte was super good; asked for half sweet - it was very smooth and creamy. The handshake brewed coffee was a perfect blend of nuttiness and chocolate tone which are my favorite! Blanchard's is GOAT'd in my opinion and the best local coffee spot! I stopped in for the first time in December for a holiday drink. I believe I had a salted caramel drink but most recently there was a Banofee coffee that was INCREDIBLE. Apparently it was a winter speciality drink and I would 1000% petition to make it a permanent menu item. It's THAT GOOD. they have a blueberry muffin that is divine as well another plus is you don't have to pay extra for nondairy milk. I LOVE THAT! I told the barista to surprise me with a drink and she did a great job! I had the winter bug latte which was perfect for a cold day- not too bitter like some lattes without having to add any sugar. Plenty of space in the parking lot when we visited on a Sunday morning. The bright interior is more welcoming than the starkly dark exterior, with a generous amount of seating. Service is incredibly efficient, I barely had time to settle into my stool to inspect their succulents before our drinks were ready. I didn't love the muffin enough to get it again, but it did pair nicely with the tasty seasonal strawberries & cream latte. The iced coffee was fine. Last week I was in town visiting from Texas. While I had a bit of free time that I did, I needed coffee. Figured I'd rather go local why not stop here. Well the parking was full. Not a problem. Crisp fall morning heck yes I'll walk some for good coffee. I get inside fairly simple menu. I'm like okay I'll go for their speciality choice of strawberries and cream latte as recommended by the girl at the register. Told her my usual type order to give me a educated recommendation. Between the barely there awkward waiting area for the coffee on a busy table, there was no tables available. Everyone was posted up working by this part of the morning. There was barely any breakfast choices which lead me to leave for the food portion on my adventure. My latte left a lot to be desired. I wouldn't recommend coming back even to work since the folks sitting working didn't seem to express Southern charm enough to shared their tables. read more

You must try their hot vanilla latte with oat milk - Anywhere else truly does not compare. It's sweet but not too sweet and gives you a burst of energy making you feel like you can take on the world. This was my first time here and I think I found my new favorite coffee place. This is coming from a person who lives directly next to a local coffee shop and would take the short drive to Blanchard's Cafe instead. If you're visiting Richmond, I would definitely stop by here at one point! I asked the barista for recommendations and she suggested the caramel latte. Very flavorful, good amount of sweetness, and beautiful latte art for the hot drinks. This is the first coffee shop I have been to where they offer seltzer water with espresso drinks to cleanse your palate. They definitely get bonus points for their display and creativity. If you order their batch brew, they give it in a glass pitcher and an empty cup, so you can self-pour how much you want at a time. We also got a almond butter-plum-honey toast. It was a little messy to eat, but it was delicious with mix of sweetness and crunch and topped with beautiful edible flowers. If I first searched up the google maps satellite view of the location, it showed the before-renovation picture. You can tell they did a great job decorating the exterior and interior of the cafe. They turned the garage openings into windows. There is a parking lot, but there are very limited spaces. There's plenty of street parking on the side streets nearby though. read more

I was really excited to try this place!! I heard they're the best roastery in Richmond several times over. So we got an iced oat milk latte, no extra syrup or powder, which I liked. I could taste the oat milk, but the espresso still shone through. Then, I got the El Obraje el Bosque blend with beans from Colombia, just black. I paired it with a coffee cake, which was super tasty! But after earnestly slurping... the coffee didn't taste like anything before or after a bite of the coffee cake... It promised notes of pear, walnut and cinnamon, and honestly it tasted as flavorless as Dunkin'. Props for not being burnt I guess. Huge disappointment. read more

Blanchard's Café is a lovely coffee shop. I stopped by on a Saturday morning around 9:30 and it was moderately busy. However, as the morning went on, the crowds got larger and larger. By 10:30, the line to order was almost out the door. If you're going to visit on a weekend, arrive early! Blanchard's has a relatively small menu, but there's enough to cater to everyone in your party. I got a slice of the pear and almond butter toast and a hot chai latte (oat milk offered at no charge!). I really enjoyed my latte - it was a decent size for the $5 price point and it tasted and looked delicious! I would pass on the $6 toast next time I visit. It was a large portion, but the almond butter was laid on thick, so it was sort of dry and sticky. The baristas are as nice as can be. Every interaction I had with them was really pleasant. The atmosphere is also quite nice - lots of natural lighting and community tables. It does get really loud on the weekends though. There is a small parking lot (and I mean small!) and street parking nearby. The café also has 2 gender neutral bathrooms that were sparkling clean even during the weekend rush. read more

Blanchard's is a quaint café off broad street with some excellent coffee. If you're looking for beans, I'd recommend the "Ngugu-Ini Ab" which has lemon and ginger, or their classic vanilla beans. I also tried their limited time coffee cola, which was very interesting, especially if you like tamarind. read more

I went so far as to visit this place three times within the same weekend, as I was only in town for a small period of time. They currently have great COVID safety measures in place in that all customers order through a walk-up window. I have tried their iced vanilla latte with oat-milk, a hot mocha, and an iced latte with oat-milk and honey. All three variations were delicious, but my favorite was the iced latte with oat-milk and honey, even in the winter! The nuttiness and natural sweetness of the oat-milk compliments their espresso nicely. For vanilla lovers, I even heard they make their own vanilla flavoring in-house. I also get their coffee beans at Wegmans to use for my coffee maker at home. This place is a gem in Richmond and I would recommend that coffee-lovers visit when they are in town! read more

A friend of mine who lives within walking distance never went so we trekked over and were pleasantly surprised. I had the chai latte with oat milk..... yum. Dont expect massive choices for fluffy coffee with fancy names but what they do have they do very well. He had the hot chocolate and it was a different flavor but very tasty.
