My first visit to the Beet Box will not be my last. I tried the Matcha Smoothie on this visit & it was refreshing & creamy. The taste was smooth with just a kick of spicy. I would definitely order it again. I also ordered a Beetroot Smoothie for my husband & hopefully he will get to try it later this week. I put it in my freezer so I will see how it stands up flavor wise to being frozen. As for food, I ordered the Jerk Chicken wrap. It was tasty. The chicken was tender & flavorful. It was moderate level spicy & the veggies in the wrap complemented the flavor of the chicken well. I look forward to returning to The Beet Box and trying more menu options. This was a nice place to stop by while we were in the area. I ordered a "coffee in the morning" and it was really good. I also tried the "paint the town" green juice, which was surprisingly good. My only concern was I ordered a smoothie that normally comes with peanut butter and even though I asked to withhold the peanuts, they must have forgotten because it definitely had peanuts or peanut butter. This is one of my favorite spots to grab a smoothie or smoothie bowl. Today I opted for one of their summer specials: the Summertime Fine Smoothie which contains pineapple, cucumber, spinach, mint, and apple juice. I prefer smoothies that contain both fruit and veggies, and this one did not disappoint! It had just the right amount of sweetness to genuinely enjoy it but not so much where it stops feeling healthy. I hope they consider keeping this one on the menu. They have indoor seating and an outdoor patio but the inside is small to the point where it's difficult to enjoy your food/drinks during times of high foot traffic. I was in Carytown and remembered I wanted to try this place during the Black Restaurant Experience and wasn't able. So yesterday I walked to it (not knowing where it was and trusted my GPS) and crossed over Arthur Ashe Boulevard. We were greeted upon entering. It was not overly crowded and had a cozy feel. There was one employee working and she had a great method. She would take an order, but make the item of the person she'd already taken an order from so I felt like wait wasn't stagnant. They have a variety of food items ranging from smoothies, smoothie, bowls, juices, to several types of toasts, and cleanse options. I opted for a smoothie named, "The Beet Goes On". Surprisingly there was not a strong beet taste like I expected and had the pleasure of a stronger ginger taste with the luxury of having beets without the earthy beet flavor. I found this place searching for juice cleanses online. I have now done two of their clenses and am a return customer for their juices, wellness shots and bowls. I am in love with their Acai Me bowl and have brought my husband along. The Acai Me bowl contains Acai, Strawberry, Mango and Apple juice topped with granola, stareberry, blueberry, banana, honey and coconut flakes. You can get additional toppings. However, we add penut better to it at home. It's so delicious and filling. Their juice are amazing, my favorite being So Fresh, So Clean. It has a fresh mint flavor that's very refreshing. Lastly, I love their wellness shots. My favorite is the Noble shot featuring elderberry. The inside has a beautiful set up with a sitting area inside and out. The music is great and sets the vibe as soon as you enter. It's located on a busy little street so parking my be difficult depending on the time but I have not had any issues thus far. The vibes in the place are immaculate - Great decor, awesome music however I was pretty disappointed in their bowls. I ordered the Açaí me bowl with peanut butter, no bananas and no coconut. Adding peanut butter was $2 extra so I was shocked at the small drizzle that was put on top (pictured). The Acai base was a very interesting color, light reddish/pink - Not something I've ever seen before and the texture was really watery. It was also really really sweet to the point where I couldn't finish my bowl. The granola was only okay, I don't think it tied the bowl together with the fruit and base very well. I lived in Atlanta for 2 years and went on a search for the best açaí bowl in the city so I feel like I know a thing or two about an all-star bowl.. just sayin! lol I would go back to try their juices and maybe a smoothie but I'll be sticking with the Pit and the Peel for my açaí bowl cravings in Richmond. read more

But as soon as The Beet Box opened, you know I had to try it because I love to find the best acai bowl for the amount of money I pay for them. Their Dragon Queen bowl is WORTH walking 20 minutes for and their fresh juices are superb.
