Best little mom and pop boba shop ever. They are always so kind, a couple years ago they never had an open upper space. It was nice to see that it was open with many chairs, tables AND numerous outlets. They even have whiteboards for studying. Unfortunately since it's just the family that works here it's only open 12-7 everyday. On whatever free days I have I'll definitely go here. If I didn't do reviews I definitely would have gate kept it but i'm just so nice ‍ The Strawberry Yogurt Smoothie just hits the spot and fills the craving so easily. That's my favorite drink there! Five stars!! This place is a must visit!! The parking is the ONLY downside of it (street parking near Broad), but there are a bunch of spaces on side streets. The owner made recommendations, and even took some cute pics of me and my little party on our way out. This place is so tiny and cute. I got the strawberry/raspberry boba tea and it was SO YUM. Actually tasted like real tea and not just fake fruit juice like most boba places. Right on the busy strip of West Broad Street, this quaint tea shop provides authentic Taiwanese teas and Chinese/Taiwanese snacks for the Richmond community. My parents and I come to Gigi Tea Time very frequently! The couple that runs the shop are very nice and they have a variety of not only bubble tea, but small Chinese snacks as well such as crepes and cookies. I always get the Matcha Smoothie with bubbles and my parents usually get the Taro Milk Tea - we all love our orders and are able to customize the sweetness usually! The bubbles are always the perfect level of chewy and they do give you a lot of bubbles for your drink. Another topping that I have ordered is the strawberry jelly (heart-shaped!), which is also pretty good. There is also an upstairs sitting area where you can sit with your friends and enjoy, so you don't have to take your boba on the go with you! I do want to warn you that parking is not amazing, since you will either have to street park or park somewhere else and walk to the store. I'm a fan of this place! I was spending the day in Richmond and was craving bubble tea. I found this place on Yelp and gave it a try! The place was kinda difficult to get to because the parking situation is a bit tight. You'll most likely have to parallel park and walk a short distance to reach the store. I ordered the black milk tea and my friend ordered the taro milk tea. The owners/baristas seemed flustered- I'm not sure why since there were only like 8 customers in the store. They got our orders mixed up but we resolved the issue after a while. They gave us a free drink since they mixed up our orders which was nice. I really liked my milk tea with boba because it had a subtle sweet taste. I dislike bubble tea with an overwhelming sugary taste. I also tried the taro milk tea which was the best one out of the three that we had. It had a nice creamy taste (non-dairy milk!) and a rich taro flavor. The other milk tea that I tried was the toffee milk tea with coffee jelly. This one was a bit too sweet for me so I don't think I'd ever get it again. It was a pretty good drink that had intense oolong tea flavors and the sweetness was perfect! I did taste hints of honey but I did wish that it came through a little stronger. The drinks definitely satisfies your boba/bubble tea needs if you're coming from a big city like me. I love how its two floors with lots of seating and outlets on the top floor. You can study with friends or you can play some board games (some are supplied) while enjoying your boba. The bathroom was clean and the music isn't too loud so the entire environment reminds of a nice, cute typical boba shop. About 6 years ago, an ex of mine who was Asian took me to a place in New York that had the most amazing boba tea. Since then, I haven't had boba tea until about a year ago. Things like that make me totally not care that I had to pay for parking. Lol. As for my tea, it was absolutely delicious! I had the blackcurrant fruit tea with passion fruit boba. It was not overly sweet like most places and I love the size and texture of their boba pearls. They have a kind of a thin shell with a burst of liquidy flavor. I'm not a fan of places that only offer the chewy bubbles that are like gummy bears. So Gigis' boba pearls were definitely a pleasant surprise. I also had a Chinese hamburger. It was very greasy, but good. It was a little deceiving at first. Especially at $5 for how small it is. But it's piled with meat and very dense. So trust me, one will most likely do the job. I have been going to GiGi's since they opened and I have never been disappointed!! This is my ULTIMATE FAVORITE BOBA TEA SPOT EVER!! Gigi has prepared just about every flavor they have. I have also tried the Specialty Chicken and other delectable treat's they offer. If you stop by there don't sleep on the other menu items. The only downside of GiGi's is the location (VCU, Siegel Center and on Broad Street) and lack of parking, however I always make it work ! I have even hosted meetings in the 2nd floor cafe.
