We started out by ordering some old-fashioned drinks to sip, and they were amazing! Beautifully made and spot on with the flavor. For food, we decided to order from the three-course dinner menu. My husband started with a steakhouse wedge salad, and I had the chicken tortilla soup. Wow, both were so yummy. My husband could not say enough about his salad. My soup was bursting with flavor and full of chicken. And because we apparently needed to be extra, we had to order the lobster spinach queso because it sounded amazing, which it certainly was. It was full of lobster, spinich and pepper jack cheese!!! For the entree, my husband had the wood-grilled chicken, and I ordered the grilled salmon and shrimp. He said the entree was incredible. He loved the mushrooms and tomatoes grilled on top and especially raved about the parmesan mashed potatoes. The chicken was juicy and flavorful. My grilled salmon and shrimp were spot on. The shrimp were thick, and the salmon was grilled to perfection. Both were topped with a light aji amarillo sauce that was fantastic together. To me, the ancient grains pilaf topped the whole thing off, the salmon with the pilaf and sauce were a perfect three-piece combo that had me wanting more and more with each bite. For dessert, we both ordered the petite creme brulee cheesecakes. At this point, I was bursting, but the gorgeous vision in front of me could not be wasted!!!! The cheesecake had a perfect light crunch on top and paired beautifully with the fruit and dollop of whipped cream on the plate. Our server was kind and prompt with our food, even when she seemed very busy. Overall, it was fantastic, and we have plans to return.

I recently went to another local Firebirds and I had asked the waitstaff and front of house manager a couple of questions about their steaks. All the answers I received were incorrect. I know they were incorrect because their corporate executive chef and I had previously chatted about it. When I contacted Firebirds about this the GM of this located invited be back. When I went to this location I asked the same questions and I still did not received the correct answers. So, clearly Firebirds has some systemic issues with their training program. Ultimately this could have negatively affected my experience but since I already knew more that the staff did, it did not. So, here, today, I have to give 4 star. Better training would have gotten them a 5 star. I spoke with the GM of this location at the time of my visit. He was fully engaged and did not hesitate to take ownership of his staff's training and knowledge and assured me that they will do better moving forward. From our friendly conversation, I believe him. Maybe I will try a Firebird location in Richmond in another six months and ask the same questions. Let see if their training improves. The server had no idea what ice cream I was talking about and served me two different (very small) scoops of different ice creams before another guy came and said he knew what I was talking about and brought me the right ice cream. However, the scoop he gave me was for the size of a small child, if not an infant. And when I asked him where the rest of my scoop was, he said that they had a new manager and they were re-trained on scoops, and this was the new size of a one scoop ice cream. Are you fucking kidding me? This was not even a half of a regular scoop of ice cream. The picture below shows a regular scoop versus the scoop that I got. I will never ever ever go to that Baskin-Robbins again. Whoever the manager is, she's a fucking idiot. Definitely not worth $5.
