This ice-cream shop is located a block from Chipotle and is a great addition to the area. It's definitely a place you can easily walk to considering there are many apartments nearby and an area where many VCU students are seen. There is some off-street parking, but depending on when you go, it might be hard to find. There is a private parking lot across the street which would be ideal if they allowed us to park there. Maybe Bruster's can strike a deal. This place is set up for you to walk up to a window. It is very secured behind a glass. The menu is up top and you place your order and wait for your name to be called. There are some benches around the establishment to sit and enjoy your ice-cream. Let me say, the employees are all very nice. Good customer service. This was my first visit. The cashier was friendly. I ordered a banana split which comes with 3 scoops of ice-cream. I was able to change the usually vanilla, chocolate and strawberry scoop to a scoop of Gooey Birthday Cake, Mint Chocolate Chip and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. It also came with chocolate syrup, pineapples, strawberries, cherries, pretzel stick and whip cream. You can ask for caramel syrup and sprinkles too. On my first visit, I paid full price for the banana split. On my second visit, I came on a Thursday because if you bring a banana, the banana split is half price, so it's $5. It was delicious! Love it! My husband used to work at a Brusters so we are partial to it. They have a huge variety of flavors. I usually go with a mint or cookie craze. It seems like there is always a new flavor when we go. They have vegan options too. The staff is nice and relatively quick. The picnic/seating area is outside and has become a nice place for families. The rewards program is my favorite. We get a free $5 every once in a while because we go so often. They also have lots of coupons floating around. read more

Bruster's Real Ice Cream is a must-visit for any ice cream lover. I recently stopped by on my way up from Virginia after seeing an Instagram video of the spot, and I knew I had to make a pit stop. I was not disappointed. The servings were huge, and every bite was delightfully sweet. It was the perfect treat after a long ride. The area makes for a nice pit stop to stretch but also plenty of space around the area for families and just hanging out. They had plenty of tables and large, lounge-like seats to relax. On a sunny day, I'm sure it gets packed! They have a large selection of flavors, I recall that was the main reason I threw it on my list of spots to check out. And the portions were massive. Certainly a good buy. I wish I lived closer to the location, so I could visit more frequently. It was a busy day today for the Brusters team but they still did a great job making our ice cream cones. We got a Valpak coupon buy one get one free. I got the regular size waffle cone with a scoop of peanut butter, a scoop of cotton candy explosion and a scoop of Oreo. So good. Sososososossooooooo good. The servers are friendly and very patient even with the long lines. I feel it is a much better value than the Gelati Celesti shops. The owner has gone out of his way to make it very family friendly. Noticed this location while getting my window fixed and I thought it looked interesting. Walked up, not a long wait especially that there were plenty of people there. There is many outdoor benches and tables available for customers to enjoy their delicious ice cream. They have very interesting ice cream flavors on their menu. I ordered the southern banana pudding and have to say it was good. They provided me the opportunity to try flavors I was not sure about. It was nice and cream; tasted more like bananas than pudding but the wafers made it perfectly well balanced. You can see and taste that their waffles are made there freshly. Craved some good ice cream and was really satisfied with the experience and the service. I had two BIG scoops on a waffle cone for only $4!! Really good pricing for pretty good ice cream! The young lady that took my order was very nice and understanding. The two flavors I got were pistachio and white raspberry truffle. Pistachio was really creamy but lacked a bit of the flavor, although it did have a lot of pistachio nuts. The white raspberry truffle had a good amount of raspberry jam swirl and chunks of chocolate. I ordered a chocolate milkshake. My mistake for not asking the server to use chocolate ice cream as the base. She used ALOT of vanillla ice cream. While the milkshake had a great consistency. It tasted like a vanilla milkshake. What can I say about Brusters??? It's the only place I go for ice cream!! Waffle cones, sundaes, shakes, pints etc!!! Most of the time when we go I look for the chocolate raspberry truffle to put in my delicious waffle cone!! My husband fills his with cookie dough!! You know how I know Brusters is awesome? My family goes here in the winter!!! In a word: YUMMO! Brusters looks and feels like one of those beach town, walk up ice cream shops. Not a restaurant, per se, but they have several picnic tables with umbrellas and in the summer time, those seats are harder to come by than a Mother's Day reservation at Boar's Head. Very laid back and some of the best ice cream around! They offer an extensive variety of flavors, all homemade, and each hand dipped to order. Super creamy, super tasty, and customers are welcome to try ANY of their flavors before committing to a purchase. Some of my personal favorite flavors are Oreo Cheesecake (think Cookies & Cream with Cheesecake ice cream) and Peanut Butter Puddles (one word: Tagalongs). My wife swears by the Banana Cream Pie (banana ice cream with marshmallow swirl and Nilla Wafers) and Cotton Candy Explosion (rainbow cotton candy ice cream with -- get this -- Pop Rocks!). We have gone to this one on Hull St Rd, the one on Ironbridge Rd and also the one on Robious rd and ordered a large vanilla shake. All three Brusters charged $9.00 for the shake but the problem was the shakes were beyond terrible. Almost like they were watered down and the one on Robious Rd tasted like spoiled milk was used. The ice cream is Ok but don't go there on a very hot day and order a cone their ice cream is very soft and you will have a mess on your hands. Will never go there again! read more

This place is in a REALLY random location (in my opinion), but don't let that fool you. It has the feel of a beachy ice cream shop, and it certainly doesn't disappoint. I'm so disappointed in Brusters and their customer service. I ordered a ice cream cake for my sons 18th birthday. They asked me what color did I want on the cake... I asked for purple and that's not what I got... for some reason since it's close to Halloween it was orange and purple. Then when I asked to have what can he do and he looked at me like I had 2 heads. I asked twice and explained that's not what I asked for or paid for but he said I paid for a cake and that's what I'm getting. He finally offered to remove the orange and make it purple. All Bruster's are not all equal and this is the worst one I have ever been to. Less than half the variety of flavours that they have at the Chester location. I ordered 2 scoops and honestly, you couldn't see the second scoop on the cone. I asked her if there was a second scoop because I thought she had gotten my order wrong.
