This ice-cream shop is located a block from Chipotle and is a great addition to the area. It's definitely a place you can easily walk to considering there are many apartments nearby and an area where many VCU students are seen. There is some off-street parking, but depending on when you go, it might be hard to find. There is a private parking lot across the street which would be ideal if they allowed us to park there. Maybe Bruster's can strike a deal. This place is set up for you to walk up to a window. It is very secured behind a glass. The menu is up top and you place your order and wait for your name to be called. There are some benches around the establishment to sit and enjoy your ice-cream. Let me say, the employees are all very nice. Good customer service. This was my first visit. The cashier was friendly. I ordered a banana split which comes with 3 scoops of ice-cream. I was able to change the usually vanilla, chocolate and strawberry scoop to a scoop of Gooey Birthday Cake, Mint Chocolate Chip and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. It also came with chocolate syrup, pineapples, strawberries, cherries, pretzel stick and whip cream. You can ask for caramel syrup and sprinkles too. On my first visit, I paid full price for the banana split. On my second visit, I came on a Thursday because if you bring a banana, the banana split is half price, so it's $5. It was delicious! The pics with the sprinkles is from my first visit. Definitely go check them out. read more

What a great experience and such a friendly staff! We love the upgrades, it's very family friendly. Super enjoyable atmosphere.

Love it! My husband used to work at a Brusters so we are partial to it. They have a huge variety of flavors. I usually go with a mint or cookie craze. It seems like there is always a new flavor when we go. They have vegan options too. The staff is nice and relatively quick. The picnic/seating area is outside and has become a nice place for families. The rewards program is my favorite. We get a free $5 every once in a while because we go so often. They also have lots of coupons floating around. read more

Bruster's prices are a tad higher compared to other ice cream spots, to be honest. The ice cream was tasty, but I'm not convinced the prices are justified. The service was decent, although I did have to wait around 10 minutes for my order (one chocolate shake & one kid's dirt). read more

Amazing ice cream and service!!! They have holiday flavors -- loved the peppermint stick and peppermint Oreo flavors. The butter pecan was great and there waffle cones were so good! The ice cream shop is so cute and decorated well. Will definitely be back here again! read more

National Ice Cream Day Seriously? I thought your free 1 scoop of ice cream was 11am to 1pm -- I was planning to bring my daughter and granddaughter. Why offer free ice cream and then set the time from 11pm to 1am? Most families can't even consider that. Feels like it's set up to exclude people. I love your ice cream but will give you less than 5 stars for this stunt. read more

Bruster's Real Ice Cream is a must-visit for any ice cream lover. I recently stopped by on my way up from Virginia after seeing an Instagram video of the spot, and I knew I had to make a pit stop. I was not disappointed. The servings were huge, and every bite was delightfully sweet. It was the perfect treat after a long ride. The area makes for a nice pit stop to stretch but also plenty of space around the area for families and just hanging out. They had plenty of tables and large, lounge-like seats to relax. On a sunny day, I'm sure it gets packed! They have a large selection of flavors, I recall that was the main reason I threw it on my list of spots to check out. And the portions were massive. Certainly a good buy. I wish I lived closer to the location, so I could visit more frequently. If you are in the area, do not hesitate to stop by Bruster's Real Ice Cream for a delicious treat. read more

It was a busy day today for the Brusters team but they still did a great job making our ice cream cones. We got a Valpak coupon buy one get one free. I got the regular size waffle cone with a scoop of peanut butter, a scoop of cotton candy explosion and a scoop of Oreo. So good. Sososososossooooooo good. Darnell got the large cone with raspberry wedding cake, double chocolate chunk, peanut butter, and almond flavor. It just never disappoints. Love Brusters read more

Death by chocolate was AMAZING! As a chocolate lover this option did not disappoint and ladytaking our order came back with huge scoops! A must try place! read more

If you're judging just the ice cream, Bruster's deserves 5 stars!!! No question about it. They're the best. They make their ice cream in small batches and it is always smooth and creamy. It beats Gelati Celesti, Kline's, and Cold Stone every time, flavor for flavor. If I could throw another ice cream shoppe under the bus to give Bruster's some more love, I would! I can't speak to the milkshakes because I don't want to dilute my ice cream like that, and they could do better with keeping their outdoor seating area tidy, but I will stand happily in line and enjoy my cone, my cup or my pint to-go anytime!! Do yourself a favor and go get some Bruster's. Extra tips! Best two flavors are their strawberry and the chocolate raspberry truffle! read more

This Bruster's location should have been included in the Richmond Times Dispatch ice cream contest! The ice cream is always delicious and fresh. The servers are friendly and very patient even with the long lines. I feel it is a much better value than the Gelati Celesti shops. The owner has gone out of his way to make it very family friendly. Also, they give the little dog cup FREE and my dog knows when we pull into Bruster's that she's going to get a delicious ice cream with peanut butter sauce and a bone! I asked once at a gelati Celesti, if they have a free dog cup and I was told that I could buy a toddler cup. Brusters read more

Brusters was always my favorite ice cream place. Haven't been in awhile (my son always wants Gelati Celesti). I have to say it was very disappointing today. Service is slow and not friendly. I asked for a single scoop with hot fudge, I got 3 scoops and hardly any fudge. I can see why Gelati Celesti is so popular. Fast, friendly and you can order how you like it. Sadly nothing like it used to be. read more

Noticed this location while getting my window fixed and I thought it looked interesting. Walked up, not a long wait especially that there were plenty of people there. There is many outdoor benches and tables available for customers to enjoy their delicious ice cream. They have very interesting ice cream flavors on their menu. I ordered the southern banana pudding and have to say it was good. They provided me the opportunity to try flavors I was not sure about. It was nice and cream; tasted more like bananas than pudding but the wafers made it perfectly well balanced. You can see and taste that their waffles are made there freshly. Some of their tables had ice cream melted on them but overall it was a great experience. Great shop to support local small business. read more

Everyone we come here our experience is awesome. Rain or shine nothing beats a Bruster's ice cream cone. Always fresh, delicious and served with a smile! The service is great and always so cheerful to help you. We have become weekly regulars. read more

I mean it's gotta be the best ice cream place in Midlothian. The vibe is pretty friendly and service is great.

Bruster's have great ice cream and fair value for money. I think their selection is outstanding. The only thing I dislike is being asked for a tip at the drive up window. It may or may not be company policy but it seems a bit of a shakedown. read more

Lovely options including seasonal flavors. Prices a bit high in my perspective but almost everything is nowadays. Blizzard like "blasts", a few sundaes, and a shake! We have going for years so why stop now? read more

Craved some good ice cream and was really satisfied with the experience and the service. I had two BIG scoops on a waffle cone for only $4!! Really good pricing for pretty good ice cream! The young lady that took my order was very nice and understanding. The two flavors I got were pistachio and white raspberry truffle. Pistachio was really creamy but lacked a bit of the flavor, although it did have a lot of pistachio nuts. The white raspberry truffle had a good amount of raspberry jam swirl and chunks of chocolate. Creamy and delicious! read more

So yummy, loved it. No long lines, good prices, would definitely go back and highly recommend

This is the best ice cream place to have nearby. The flavors are great. The quality is high. People are friendly and very consistent in their level of service. Mostly teenagers learning how to be responsible and do a job well. This place has never ceased to deliver. Good value too. read more

I ordered a chocolate milkshake. My mistake for not asking the server to use chocolate ice cream as the base. She used ALOT of vanillla ice cream. While the milkshake had a great consistency. It tasted like a vanilla milkshake. So, if you want a chocolate shake to taste like a chocolate shake from this place ask them to use chocolate ice cream or you will pay about $5 for something you don't want. read more

Went on a Monday night at 8 pm before you even get to the window the girls are yelling out only serving cups and cone's, no sundae's or milk shakes. Very rudely! The kids working there the last several times we went were very rude. Not sure we will be going back. read more

What can I say about Brusters??? It's the only place I go for ice cream!! Waffle cones, sundaes, shakes, pints etc!!! Most of the time when we go I look for the chocolate raspberry truffle to put in my delicious waffle cone!! My husband fills his with cookie dough!! Brusters switches up there ice cream choices daily so you're constantly surprised!! I won't lie, I do get a bit sad when there isn't chocolate raspberry truffle but it just forces me to try something new!! Maybe a peanut butter cup sundae? Maybe a new flavor, peanut butter buckeye is a delish mess of chocolate and peanut butter!! Most of the time they have enough workers to keep the lines moving but Saturday nights you're normally just out of luck and waiting for a bit! But it's always worth it!! If you haven't had Brusters I'm assuming you've been living under a rock, so get up and get out there!! read more

I was recommended to go to this location by a friend because I was craving a fresh homemade milkshake. Boy I was glad that I did. I even created a yelp account just so I could write this review. If you are craving a fresh yummy milkshake, go to this Brusters! The night I went, a young man, Bryan, was working and he is very polite and did an outstanding job making my milkshake. The best! Go see Bryan at Brusters on Hull & Genito. You will not be disappointed. read more

You know how I know Brusters is awesome? My family goes here in the winter!!! In a word: YUMMO! Brusters looks and feels like one of those beach town, walk up ice cream shops. Not a restaurant, per se, but they have several picnic tables with umbrellas and in the summer time, those seats are harder to come by than a Mother's Day reservation at Boar's Head. Very laid back and some of the best ice cream around! They offer an extensive variety of flavors, all homemade, and each hand dipped to order. Super creamy, super tasty, and customers are welcome to try ANY of their flavors before committing to a purchase. Some of my personal favorite flavors are Oreo Cheesecake (think Cookies & Cream with Cheesecake ice cream) and Peanut Butter Puddles (one word: Tagalongs). My wife swears by the Banana Cream Pie (banana ice cream with marshmallow swirl and Nilla Wafers) and Cotton Candy Explosion (rainbow cotton candy ice cream with -- get this -- Pop Rocks!). Check out all of their POSSIBLE flavors here: http://www.brusters.com/flavors_icecream.asp Another cool thing to note about Brusters is that kids under 40' tall get a FREE kids cone with an adult purchase. Not surprising, Brusters has a TON of families outsides their windows. My note above about POSSIBLE flavors is the main reason why I can't give Brusters 5 Stars -- the do not have a set menu, so it is a roll of the dice on what flavors they will have when you visit. On the upside, they always have at least 15 flavors every time I have visited, and I haven't tasted a single one that I didn't like. That said, when you have your heart set on Peanut Butter Puddles and they don't have it, it's a bit of a let down. Those of you that have read my other reviews will note that this is a common detractor for me -- I like menus. read more

We have gone to this one on Hull St Rd, the one on Ironbridge Rd and also the one on Robious rd and ordered a large vanilla shake. All three Brusters charged $9.00 for the shake but the problem was the shakes were beyond terrible. Almost like they were watered down and the one on Robious Rd tasted like spoiled milk was used. The ice cream is Ok but don't go there on a very hot day and order a cone their ice cream is very soft and you will have a mess on your hands. Will never go there again! read more

I had never noticed this place before but I read the reviews and decided to stop and try it. I would have given them 4 stars if it would not have been for the slow service. After going here, I was super happy I insisted on my husband doing a U-turn to go back to this place! Really. I yelled/begged for him to do a U-turn. This place is in a REALLY random location (in my opinion), but don't let that fool you. It has the feel of a beachy ice cream shop, and it certainly doesn't disappoint. This is definitely not low fat froyo, but goodness, it is some good ice cream. Service was 100% great when we went. I had the chocolate chip cookie dough in a waffle cone, and it was creamy and absolutely amazing. There are SO many flavors, you could go every day for weeks and still not try them all. Don't miss out! read more

I'm so disappointed in Brusters and their customer service. I ordered a ice cream cake for my sons 18th birthday. They asked me what color did I want on the cake... I asked for purple and that's not what I got... for some reason since it's close to Halloween it was orange and purple. Then when I asked to have what can he do and he looked at me like I had 2 heads. I asked twice and explained that's not what I asked for or paid for but he said I paid for a cake and that's what I'm getting. He finally offered to remove the orange and make it purple. Then he spelled The name on the cake wrong. Michael is his name.... how do you spell Michael wrong... it's the most popular name in America... worst service ever... they lost a good customer . read more

Very disappointed. Great day for ice cream. Had not been to Brusters in a good while so we were in the mood. Asked for a Coffee Oreo milkshake. It wasn't close to thick and tasted more like milk than anything else. My wife got the chocolate turtle on a waffle cone. Not one piece of but in it. It just tasted like chocolate ice cream. When Bruster's first came to the area the flavors were amazing now they're just bland and not worth the price. read more

All Bruster's are not all equal and this is the worst one I have ever been to. Less than half the variety of flavours that they have at the Chester location. I ordered 2 scoops and honestly, you couldn't see the second scoop on the cone. I asked her if there was a second scoop because I thought she had gotten my order wrong. That never happens at the Chester location. So if you want what you pay for (whole scoops of ice cream) and a good variety to choose from, stick with the other locations. read more

Good ice cream and service. My son loves the dirt sundaes. I love the strawberry shortcake when it's in season. But my favorite thing to have is a scoop of Graham Central Station when they have it. I took off a star for not having a drive thru. They really ought to consider it. read more

I have enjoyed the medium Strawberry Sunday. - Ice cream and fruit is fresh and tasty. DO NOT waste your money on a large. When asked why did I receive the same size bowl for $2+ more I was told I got an extra scoop of ice cream and "that is al I can fit into that bowl" (medium size bowl) I am confused. Maybe a large size bowl for the extra money. I will not be going back. Customer service means a lot to me for my money. read more

Very good ice cream, of course it is. It's an ice cream store! Always friendly and professional. I like to both eat on site and take a pint home. I like their chocolate and chocolate mint chip, my favorites, a scoop of each. My wife is a chocolate raspberry truffle. It's good, too that's for sure. Lots of flavor to choose from but the butter pecan, chocolate, banana are all excellent. They have about 20 plus favors all the time. I'm a Bruster's guy. read more
