I had never heard of this little bar until my BF took me here! It is just off the street below the market but not sure how much foot traffic they get. The food offerings are limited but they have fun options like tinned fish that rotates and comes with crackers, etc. for noshing on. The highlight here is the bar with friendly and knowledgeable bartenders! They have a small cocktail menu but you can also ask for something different, like I did because I wanted a Paper Plane. It's not a big space but there is a nice counter to sit at and then some tables in the front. You order at the bar. Has a very cool Spanish vibe so it feels like you are suddenly in Europe! a cute, somewhat slender, almost hole in the wall bar on western very close to the market elevator. we learned the hard way, the first time my friend tried to take me there, that they're closed on tuesdays; there was a discrepancy between what their website said and what yelp reported their hours to be so double or triple check but do go! fun drinks, small plate spanish nibbles that you can customize into charcuterie like items brought to your table and interesting decor. they had good music playing last night, it wasn't crowded (i don't know that it ever could be since there only four tables and the bar area) and later on after we'd left and were walking back to the car, i noticed the tv had been turned on and they were watching ice hockey. it seems like a perfect place to become a regular. if you're at the market and you need a respite from the tourists and the mayhem, this place would be the ticket....if it's open! read more

This was not really what we expected. It kind of bills itself as a Spanish bar, but isn't particularly Spanish. We came hoping for some authentic Spanish drinks or tapas, but they have very limited food selection for snacks (mostly cheese and cured meats that is not really jamón serrano or ibérico if you're a Spaniard). My partner, who is Spanish, was bummed by the lack of Spanish items on both the cocktail menu and tapas options. We got some manchego that was good and he had a bit of chorizo and then we settled on Estrella galicia because it was the only drink aside from cava that was authentically Spanish. The food was good and the bartenders were fine, but it's not really Spanish. Probably wouldn't come back since it wasn't what we were hoping for with the selection, but is totally fine for a drink and snack in a casual ambiance. read more

Wow! A quaint raucous Spanish bar in seatle. It's a small space with a-small front so you can easily drive by it and not see it. Luckily we decided to park and try to find it and we did. To begin it is small, there are 2 tables for 4, two tables for 2 and the bar that seats 8 maybe 9. But if you are lucky enough to get a seat this place is bursting with atmosphere and fun. The space is small but has very high ceilings so you don't feel squished. It's decorated in acool eclectic way with posters, bottles a disco ball and even a world book encyclopedia. The music is loud and fun and you might hear Dolly Parton followed by canye followed by ...... they keep it dark, turn the music up loud and use the disco ball to throw light around, it's like your fun cousins party. they have Spanish wines, my wife tried A red that was excellent, they also serve Jerez and vermouth and Galician ciders as well as mixed drinks. I had a nice Estrella on tap (only beer on offer but a good one) it was nice and chilled. As to the food none of it is cooked so if you are looking for gambas or patatas bravas you won't find those here. No issue as they have very nice selection of other cold tapas. We had a charcuterie board with 2 types of jamón serrano (excellent), chorizo, manchego and an out of this world goat cheese with a bit of olive oil on it that took it up a notch. We also had the olives the boquerones and the pepper with anchovi. All were quite nice. They also have tins of mejillones, sardines and other Spanish fish. Cudos to them for serving from the tin and not trying to "fool" you. The clientele and the customers are there to have fun and it's just a cool atmosphere. I travel extensively all over the world and this the coolest bar I have been to. 4.5 stars since there are no cooked tapas but the ambiance and cool factor make up for it . I know giving 1 star is brutal but please hear me out. My partner, father and I came in on a sunny afternoon and sat at the table directly to the right after you enter the bar. I was sitting facing towards the bar. The bartender came over and took our drink orders and came back a few minutes later. They proceeded to accidentally drop my glass of cider on the table and all of the liquid spilled all over my lap. They promptly cleaned up the mess and got me a new cider. They also gave me a rag to clean myself up since I was soaked. I was in complete shock. We didn't stay long because I was so uncomfortable. No apology and they did NOT comp my cider. Worst of all, one of my favorite white lace dresses is completely ruined. No dry cleaners can remove the stain. It was a horrible experience and I will never return or recommend this bar. Visited JarrBar on Fii July 8th at around 6:30PM. I've wanted to visit JarrBar for a long time but never got the chance to do so because we live quite far from downtown, so when we finally had a reason to visit the city we were super excited to try it out. Unfortunately, everything from the service to the food was a major disappointment and our visit was very unsatisfactory. The staff (one of the two in particular) were unfriendly, unhelpful, condescending , exuded bad attitude and were just a hair below being what i'd call rude enough for me to walk out. The place was busy but there were a few free tables inside waiting to be cleaned off). There's no signage instructing you to seat your self or wait for a server. We weren't sure to jut go in and grab a table or wait outside so we stodd outside but in full few of the staff, waiting to get a nod or a wave to. come on in or have one of them come out to us. They clearly saw us, looked us straight on, but ignored us completely. Eventually, we had enough and headed on in up to the bar and asked for a table. We were told they'd clean a table off for us and to hang outside for a few mins. It must have taken them about 20mins to get around to that. Again - the place was busy but not unreasonable so.....the staff just didn't seem to care that there were waiting customers. After seating, it took about 20mins to get our order in. Our server passed by us several times with what can only be described as a scowl on her face - no thank you, acknowledgement of our presence, offer of water etc. We asked a couple of questions about some of the menu items but only got condescending mutterings in return. Putting the awful staff aside. The food was a bit letdown, the Jamon in particular. I think the photo says enough, most of it was just little scraps. We ordered some spanish beers, they were warm(ish)....they were also served in 250ml glasses instead of being 330ml bottles - nowhere on the menu did it say these were not full glasses/bottles...it's a minor thing but it should be clearly called out. Sometimes you have to yelp from the rooftops. I walked in for a pre-Beyoncé (pre-yoncé) meats n' cheese extravaganza carrying a hastily made tin foil ruff. It should be mentioned that the album Renaissance was playing when I arrived. That's one of the stars right there. Manager Nicole noticed my creation, asked what it was, and immediately engaged in a structural integrity reinforcement project with me that improved the wearability, comfort, and overall 'je ne sais quoi' (aka Big Ruff Energy) of the piece. That's 2.7 of the stars, obvi. Then she poured me a vermouth and soda that quenched my thirst-trap vibes. That's .8 stars. Then she and her floor lead proceeded to make my wife and I a set of cocktails and charcuterie platter bits that set the tone for the full-on disco-ball-tassel-parade that is walking towards a Beyoncé show. That's the remaining available 1.5 stars, but tbh could be more if yelp would even allow it. We stumbled upon this cute little spot on our walk back to our hotel. The storefront is a typical old seattle storefront, tucked away. It's easy to miss but I'm happy we spotted it. The aesthetic was cozy and hip so we decided to stop in for a drink. The walls were covered in old rococo styled framed mirrors in blue and white. It is a narrow spot with limited seating but it adds to the cool intimate aesthetic. They had some food options (snacks) and they all looked amazing though we didn't order any. The service was great and it felt like a cute little neighborhood hang out spot. We will definitely come back. read more

This is an intimate place with not a ton of seating. It's not a big place and is also very unassuming which took us a bit of effort to find. It's directly across the street from Seattle Beer Co. if you can't find it. They have happy hour 4-6pm and 10pm-2am and all day Sunday. Their happy hour menu isn't extensive but they do have some options for light snacks and shareables. I ordered the rum old fashioned ($11) which was okay. It was in a very tiny glass which was interesting. We then ordered and shared the daily cocktail ($7) which I wasn't sure what was in it but I enjoyed it. They make their own cured meats and seafood which is awesome. I will have to come back during their happy hour to try some of them out! read more

I'd been watching to check our JarrBar for quite some time, but I'll admit... walking home from work alone, passing by this cozy, raucous and lively bar, I was too intimidated to grab a seat alone. But some friends joined me recently, and I think we're all decidedly going back again soon. I'd recently visited Portugal so I was excited to try the sardines and other items reminiscent of my time there, and it didn't disappoint. The only thing that would make it better: Portugese beer. My partner and I were in Seattle for 3 days and we went to Jarrbar every. single. day. Andrea was an absolute delight, the NA no-groni was exceptional, and the food was divine. The decor was also very thoughtful and cute. The food: I lived in San Sebastián a few years ago and there has been a hole in my heart where pintxo bars once lived ever since. This was everything I wanted and more, including a big ol' leg of jamon iberico on the bar. My heart was so full of tinned fish and ham. Also- I'd been craving a Gilda for YEARS, and I about died when I saw them in the counter. And they were PERFECT. The drinks: the no-groni was spectacular. My partner doesn't drink but is a very talented bartender and has missed stirred drinks, and their no-groni DELIVERED. He's still talking about it. The service: Andrea and Brandon (maybe not his name? it was his first day though and he was nailing it) gave incredible and personal service. I am the Head Mixologist at a neighboring bar in Pioneer Square that is primarily a Tourist destination, several weeks ago I went to JarrBar with Coworkers to try their unique Martini. Unfortunately, they were out of stock of some of the products needed for their special Martini, and by the time we had arrived their kitchen had closed - which is totally understandable and not why I am taking time out of my night to write this review. That particular day I had worked a 12 hour double shift with no break, I had not eaten at all that day and I was slightly short and ready to go find a meal, so considering the fact that the main reason we came was for the Martini that they didn't have, and their kitchen was closed, we left without ordering anything. Considering the time of evening, we had limited time to go find food and I was adamant on finding a meal before going home. Had that been the end of it, I would have never written this review, and I would have happily came back to Jarrbar to experience what they have to offer. Yesterday, some of my coworkers went back to JarrBar without me, and were told by the server who helped us several weeks ago that myself in particular "Is Welcome to not come back" due to my attitude that night, which yes, I was short from going without food all day, but never in my 15 years of restaurant experience have I ever 86d, or told associates of a person that they are 86d, simply for having a short attitude. I was not rude, I did not say anything disrespectful towards our server or the establishment, I did not blame anyone for their out of stock products or closed kitchen, I was simply adamant on going somewhere else that was still serving food - Message received - I will not be back, and I will not be recommending JarrBar to any of my guests in the future. My partner and I have been coming here for years since they opened. Recently we went over on a Saturday evening now that Covid has subsided a little. We sat at a little table and waited for a server to greet us. And then waited. And waited some more. About 10 mins into it, I went to the bar. Was ignored. Then another part of the bar. Was ignored again. Finally when I got someone's attention, the attitude and tone of voice was so rude. The woman treated me like a second class citizen- almost like I had 3 heads. I definitely felt like I wasn't 'cool enough' to be there with how judgemental they treated me. I don't visibly have colored hair, tattoos or piercings, so I don't fit their friend zone, for sure. Regardless of their attitude, I was told they'd be rt there. So I figured maybe the bartender was in the weeds and I got them at a tough moment. So I went back to the table and we waited. Then waited some more. Another 10 mins went by and nothing. So we left. And we left with all of those previously great memories of a wonderful date night spot in the past, tarnished bc the staff there were too bothered by our desire to be patrons that evening. I've never been made to feel more inferior as a person as I felt that evening. Definitely got a very mean spirited, elitist grunge vibe from the staff there and will likely never return. read more

I really wanted to like this place. I had tickets to a Saturday theater matinee, and JarrBar seemed exactly the right speed for a light lunch pre-show. Because it's always best to plan ahead, I checked their hours online-- their website is defunct (ok, pandemic happens), but they had quite recently posted to their Facebook page, and the listed hours were consistent with what was posted here-- 1pm open on weekends. Great! But when we got there a bit before 2, there were no signs of life. I tried the door just to verify the state of things, and it was unlocked, but there was no one inside. We stepped in out of the rain and called out to see if anyone was around, but nothing. Then a man came in through the street door, informed us that they were opening at 3 for "Thanksgiving hours" and told us to leave. There was nothing on their Facebook about this. There wasn't even a sign on the door. And we were left trekking around the neighborhood in the rain trying to find somewhere to eat before the show (we were unsuccessful, and arrived there sopping wet and starving). So I really cannot say this was anything but a bad experience. I tried contacting them via Facebook afterwards (since feedback is the only way things can get fixed), but haven't gotten a reply 3 days later. The email for Bryan which is posted around as their contact info does not work because the website is down. So while I cannot say anything about the food or drinks, the customer service experience has been a hard fail. read more

JarrBar is solid and such a cute sliver of a bar. The bartenders are friendly and the ambience is great. My one star off is for the fact that their drinks are a little hit or miss. We've come in quite a few times and ordered several drinks. My husband is a fancy cocktail maker at home and he's gotten better and better over the years--so we know a balanced cocktail. JarrBar is batting about 70-30 for me. The other reason for the missing star is the $22 Iberico ham. It was a very small portion and it wasn't melt in your mouth--in fact it was a little dry and hard. I've had Iberico ham in Spain. This was not it. But we'll come back. Well, I immediately went to the bar because I feel that's where you'll get the best service and you'll get to chat it up with a bartender if they're personable. And that's exactly what I got - fast service and two bartenders who were so friendly. I was really just coming to snack on some appetizers, and got the Marcona almond's as well as the marinated olives. Both for delicious and the drinks I had were well prepared and help to satisfy my thirst for something alcoholic. I love the Spanish feel of this place and got to sit right by the big ass Jamon iberico they got on the table. I've never seen one in real life, only on TV, and was talking to the bartender about it. Was recommended to come here and it was one of the best decisions I made when visiting Seattle. This is such a neat little bar! They specialize in high end canned foods, which I thought was slightly strange at first, but it was definitely worth the try. There was an assortment of canned seafood - mussels, clams, octopus, and their season special razor clams. My boyfriend ordered the Dmwnstein, and we shared a canned mussels and cured meats. The canned mussels surpassed any type of canned foods I could ever imagine. They went perfectly with crackers, and the spices on the side simply added even more flavor to the already great taste. The cured meats were also wonderful - they weren't regular prosciutto and salami, but had slightly different twists to them. The tapas definitely go well with drinks. All in all, this place is definitely a must try. I'm surprised it wasn't more crowded! It was noticeable that everything in this bar was of slightly higher quality - the napkins, the food, the drinks. I'd come here again if I get the chance to visit Seattle again. read more

I asked a local guy at Pike Place where he'd go eat, and he named JarrBar immediately. It's small! But they have a great happy hour. I got a "daily cocktail" that was sort of a margarita/mule type drink which was good, and then a house sangria which was awesome (lots of herbs in here, really unique). Had some olives (great) and Spanish charcuterie with crackers (also great). Highly recommend. Their folks were great and attentive, and they played great music. Happy. Hour. All. Day. Sunday. I was looking for a place nearby to enjoy happy hour with my man and JarrBar popped up. I showed him the menu and he said to check it out. He got there before me and said it's super small but he loved the vibe. When I got there I was like wow, this place is tiny! It's really cozy and pretty inside - perfect for a date night. The other people that were there were friendly and the vibe really was great. Thank goodness it wasnt packed! We didn't get anything to eat but the menu seemed to have a lot of yummy options (next time we go back I'll try some of the food). I didn't know what I wanted to drink so I asked the bartender to make something with rum - not to sweet or bitter and he made this perfect cocktail! It probably one of the best rum drinks I've ever had. One thing that I could've done without is the projector screen coming down and it started to play this band documentary. I just don't get how these places stay in business everything that came to our table smelled like it was marinated in cheap vinegar and pretentiousness. yes it has a quaint atmosphere but we were literally stuffed in chair back to chair back with a table behind us and it made it really uncomfortable. The tables were wobbly as fuck, they had wicker chairs... seriously it looked like they bought cheap wicker chairs from a garage sale and painted them blue. This is probably some food for you limp wristed idiots who have low standards and your girlfriend doesn't want to shave her armpits who enjoy the nuanced intellectual idea of a tapas bar with beautiful blah blah blah something. Meanwhile my spidey sense is tingling, get out, get out, get out before someone will probably start reading Tolstoy or Mein Kampf pretty soon and long for a fully communist America. I thought the food was while decently priced, was very pretentious and way overrated. There was not one solid piece of food that I could eat other than the cured meats and it just reeked of cheap vinegar when they did bring food to our table. We had to leave here after having just a few little tiny glasses of port. People give me crap because I like to give lots of four star and five stars and well here's a classic example of what not to do for a three star restaurant rating. That being said this place was crawling with women and is soon as we got in there was 5 to 10 more people waiting for chairs. Then another wave of pretty cute girls all bright eyed and dolled up for tapas. Shaking my head. So I will chalk this up to this is totally not my scene but apparently this place is crawling with more money than taste or brainless yuppies who were there for the "ambience" and tapas. The place is small and quaint which is perfect in my opinion. My friend and I missed the main menu service, but had the late night happy hour menu which did not disappoint! The olives, cured meats, sardines & SALSA VERDE are amazing! My friend & I killed it all! The cocktails are pretty tasty too. I had the Westside, Braveheart & Indian daiquiri and liked all of them. Bartender was super nice and cool and asked if we were done with our drinks even though there was just a drop left before taking it away. I was so excited to try this place after going to a little shop with a similar style in Barcelona years ago. Unfortunately, the service we received left more to be desired. We arrived one night and it was full, the bartender suggested we try ZigZag bar across the street or come back in about 30 min. ZigZag was very busy so we returned and decided to just wait. Finally the table by the window cleared out and was cleaned. We stepped into the doorway and waited to be seated....and waited....and waited some more. The server who cleaned the table looked like she was getting glasses of water for us...but no....she was putting clean glasses away. Finally the bartender is bringing over drinks to a table close to the door and asks if we need help. "I guess you can sit here" as she points to the open table we've been waiting for. Alright...tried to shrug it all off..maybe they're just really absent minded here. We sat down and waited to order....waited some more. Oh maybe we're supposed to order at the bar. At this point, we're over it.. Clearly no one wanted to serve us. It was still several hours before closing time too so I have no idea why. The restaurant is a great concept..but so disappointed in the service. Reading through some of the other reviews - this doesn't seem to be a one time thing. Maybe we'll try again if staffing changes. read more
