Great place to hang out w friends, by yourself and people watch, business meeting, do you school work, or simply have a cup of Joe. I discovered it on my first trip to Toledo and I have gone back everytime I come back. It my coffee place in Ohio.

I have become increasingly tired of Starbucks, but less so of other chain coffeehouses. That said, I always seek out the independent coffeehouses. Mostly, I was sold on the name (Rustbelt) of this coffeehouse in Downtown Toledo, just a few blocks from the small cluster of downtown mid-rises. Inside, it has the open floor plan with exposed ceilings up above, which works very well here and fits the industrial Rust Belt mood. The seating options were to my liking: big butcher block type tables meant to be shared, smaller tables, and upholstered seating with coffee tables. I wish I could have stayed at Rustbelt longer. It was a warm and humid summer day and I had an iced tea and a pastry. The items were tasty. The pricing was fair and the service was unremarkable, but did lean toward being good natured. Parking is available right in front along the street, should you want to keep an eye on your car. That said, I couldn't get a read on the location ... it seemed that there were other eateries and bars nearby, so maybe that meant it was okay. Also, I couldn't figure out where the customer base came from. Usually, bohemian coffeehouses have bohemian enclaves nearby where the bohemian people live. I didn't see any, or maybe I didn't look long enough. I couldn't imagine them being suburbanites. Lastly, I believe I've always seen Rust Belt spelled as two words. If they want to stylize this and go with one word, that's their prerogative. So, what you have here at Rustbelt Coffee are good tea/coffee with pastries to choose from, fair prices, decent service, and a spacious open interior plan where the climate control system was working very well. That sounds like 4 stars to me.

If you need an after work pick-me-up, OR, if you want to edge off after work, BHD has you covered! This place is both a coffee shop, and the "speakeasy." Want a coffee or tea drink, a bagel, a banana, or a bougie pastry? You can find these in the cafe. If you want an excellent, if not overpriced, cocktail? You can find it at the bottom of the spiral staircase, in the bar area. The area directly above the bar (up a few steps up from the cafe), is a nice seating area. The view, over the parking lot(s) of the river, is surprisingly scenic. Service: This is a weird one...on nearly every occasion that we've been here, the wife and I got strange vibes. The people behind the counter in the coffee shop seemed, for some reason, snobby and aloof. C'mon, girls, you're baristas, not prima ballerinas...Still, the service was at least fast and accurate. I like the atmosphere. From the comfy chairs in the cafe, to the "secret" back door of the speakeasy, this place is very cool. However, THE BAR NEEDS A FOOT RAIL! All in all, this is a very nice edition to the downtown coffee, and bar, scene.

In true speakeasy fashion you had to know about or at least have an intuition that this was it from the back. They could play on it. My cocktail was fine and acceptable it's that it would be a 3 on a scale of 1-5 which is good 3 meets all the requirements. Return factor high 8

Keep an eye on All Crumbs Bakery's Facebook page and website. They take online orders up until midnight Thursday for Saturday pickup, and their bread is truly incredible. It's actually a bit puzzling how good it all is. Every single thing I've tried, from their chocolate filled croissants, to their burger buns... everything they produce is perfect. It's like some sort of culinary witchcraft. In some cases, it ends up being the highlight of whatever meal the bread is paired with. The textures and flavors they produce are outstanding and surprisingly memorable. Wonderfully outstanding bread is a THING in Toledo. Grab a loaf (or roll) as soon as you can! This is hands down the best bread available in Toledo. There isn't even a close second out there. Want to know more?
