This place has been on my radar for AGES!! I finally had an opportunity to go... I was hungry, and it was less than 10 minutes away from my current location. I started by looking through their menu before I left, and I was intrigued to see that their smallest tray option for Jerk Chicken is only $7 and some change. But after that DC tax and service charge it was basically $10 anyway lol. So I ordered that on their website and went to pick it up. It's in a rather busy area, so finding parking wasn't the easiest thing. I managed to squeeze in somewhere, but I knew I couldn't stay long. I walked across the street to where the restaurant, and I saw someone like right inside the door. I was like "uh oh"... then I peeked in the window and saw that there was a separate line for Ordering vs. Pickup... but it looked like everyone was in the pickup line, but they were actually ordering... so I was like what's going on?! I couldn't help but wonder... wow, how'd they do before they moved?? I'm assuming this move is an upgrade and they have more space than they did before... correct me if I'm wrong. Anyways, someone else came in, and she was picking up. She walked past the line I was in and went behind the person who was currently ordering. I followed her, and he took care of us both, so apparently that's a fine thing to do if you're really just picking up. I have no idea why people were standing in the pickup line... but I got my order relatively quickly! I walked back to my car, and I was a good 30 minutes from home, and I wanted to have them fresh. So I sat in my car and ate! Jerk Chicken - FLAVORFUL. SPICY. DELICIOUS. Enough said. Rice & peas & cabbage - nothing I haven't had before, but among my favorites for sure!! Reminds me of my favorite spot in MD. Tips for anyone else: make sure you DEFINITELY order ahead. It'll save you stress on any given day from what I can tell. I had the ox tails , Mac and cheese, beans and rice with coco bread and curry chicken cause I'm greedy lmao nah it was our first time trying Jamaican food and my fiancé had curry chicken , beans and rice , lettuce, coco bread & a beef pattie. Decided to check out this place while in the area and everything was delicious. I will note that the place is in middle of very difficult to park area and found myself parking right outside with the lights still on for convenience. The bad part about that was its right next door to funeral home and saw them bringing bodies in/out which sort of takes the mood away from eating. Other than that take away everything tasted good. Ok. I have been a customer since 2002. Now through the years Jam has kind of fell off so I stop patronizing them. But moving forward to the present I decided to come back and baby! They are back!!! I ordered the combo curry chicken with ox tails and it was sooooo good it really took care of that itch that I had for some real good authentic Jamaican food. I ordered through Uber Eats. This food is absolutely disgusting. I had oxtails, Mac n cheese, cabbage, and rice and peas. Everything was terrible. I don't know who is cooking but it's not West Indians. This food is so bad I want to file a class action lawsuit to get my money back. How dreadful. Took a chance based on the reviews. I was a little nervous because I tend to weed out all the places that's not 5 stars or close to it when I Yelp. Ordered oxtail with white rice and cabbage via Uber eats. My food was very tasty. I ordered Sorrell as well. It was OK but had an after taste like when juice is going sour. Lastly my food was pricey but the portion seemed small. I would order again because I don't mind spending money on food if it tastes good. read more

Easily the BEST Jamaican food in DC, hands down. Consistency is key for any successful business and this place has it. Every time I come here the food is hot, fresh an delicious. I've been a customer for years. My favorites are curry goat, oxtail and stew chicken but you really can't go wrong with ANY of their dishes. This place tastes just like the Jamaican food I grew up eating from my grandma which is why I love it so much. The staff are very friendly as well. They do accept card but I believe there is a $10 minimum. I highly recommend calling ahead your order because they do get busy. I've tried other Jamaican restaurants in DC that are decent but none compare to Jam Dung! Worth the drive. read more

I knew i should not had tried the mac&cheese these spots aren't known for mac&Cheese but based off the cashier she highly recommended..... a waste very very bland noodles unseasoned no type of roe or cheese blend like it should be called noodles and cheese because that's all it was and most who order might be high off ganja or drunk, ijs this is my take on that poor dish. Thank God for random dudes from DC who tell you about the local gems. One told me about this place years ago. I loved it then and love it even more now. The food was always good, however; I noticed that they've experienced some improvements with service. Several years ago, you'd go in order a meal, have time to go hand wash your car in Annapolis, wash 2 loads of clothes, dance the night away, return and they'd just be putting your food in a bag. It's a tiny place so don't expect to wait inside with your whole family. It's probably even better and easier just to call in. Don't worry, they verify your order before you leave and show you what you're getting to avoid any potential issues. Also, parking isn't the best in that neighborhood after a certain hour so just take a friend and let them hop out and grab the goods on your behalf. I've already been twice in the last 2 weeks (don't judge me) and they were both efficient order times. Both times I got the jerk chicken dinner with rice and peas, cabbage and coco bread and both times were equally delicious (although the 2nd time I feel like I was missing chicken - that's what happens when you use Postmates). I can also vouch for the ox tails and patties. I haven't had them in a while but I'm sure they're still delicious. So that'll probably be what I do for week 3. read more

Called in for pick up. Unfortunately they ran out of oxtail but I got the Beef Patties, Chicken Patties, Curry Goat, Jerk Chicken and plantains with rice & peas and cabbage. The patties were just amazing. Flaky crust, good amount of filling, right level of spicy, great flavor. The rice peas and cabbage were also really really good. My experience there was not the best. The food was okay. Not nearly as good as what I experienced in Negril just a few weeks earlier. The customer service was among the worst I have experienced. I ordered curry chicken at 3 o'clock through Uber eats and never received my food I called the restaurant numerous times I got hung up on two times and then they left the phone off the hook so I was no longer able to call. They have horrible customer service the food is great but the people who work there need to be trained on how to deal with customers. I was hung up on twice and that is ridiculous. I can't say that I enjoy the customer service as much as I enjoy the food. most of the time there's a lady there with a orange color hair at the register. But the day I went there was a lady sitting. Soooo good. I'm used to eating the jamaican patties from 7 eleven, so when we were coming to the east coast we decided that it was a must to eat some real patties. We walked from our hotel to this little gem and was a bit hesitant about the neighborhood. But boy oh boy was it worth every step. We ordered one beef and one chicken patty. They were both really good. The crust on those things puts 7 eleven to shame. It was the best texture ever. We also got the jerk chicken and it was packed with flavor. The food is delicious. They just don't give you what you pay for. Oxtail small, you might get two oxtails, a medium, you get four, and a large you only get 5. Literally been patronizing this restaurant for 10 yrs. Today was the worst experience ever. The restaurant opens at 11. I arrived at the restaurant @ 11:03. Another customer and myself waited at the front door for 15 min and no one addressed us. I then saw an employee emptying the trash. I asked him what time they opened? He wasn't aware that it was past 11. He said he would run in and check for me. Just then the owner's son start yelling from above the 3 story window. Saying "We down here disrespecting his mom!". This place is a hole in the wall, with no seating, and it's probably best to call your order ahead if you can. We hit the snag with no Jerk chicken being available for another half hour. I have ordered food from this place before and it was not bad. This time it was much different. I ordered the escoveitched fish through Uber Eats and when the foood arrived it had way too much gravy poured over the rice and fish. When I tasted the food it was way too salty and spicy. I grew eating and making escoveitched fish and it tasted nothing like what I am used to. It tasted as if too much season all was used. This meal was not worth the $23 that was spent. I had to wash some of the salt and seasoning off to even eat it. I spent the money and did not want to throw the food away.
