Recently grabbed a few items from here at a food truck festival. Overall solid! Fried plantains were done just right - good caramelization on the outside. I also grabbed a bread pudding square. It was sweet, but not too sweet, with a custardy filling. Would get either of these items again. I look forward to trying some of the mains next time they come around. Folks were friendly, fast, and the prices reasonable.

The food truck came to my neighborhood. I ordered jerk chicken (that comes with rice & peas), a jerk chicken patty, plantains, and coco bread. When I tell you I went home, started eating and then turned back around to get more. Chicken was seasoned well and grilled perfectly. The chicken patty was seasoned and stuffed perfectly. Portion sizes were fantastic. Plantains were not too sweet and cooked perfectly. I had to go back and get more because I was not sharing with my husband. He could have his own plate. As I got back in line, I saw others returning to get more too!

It's been awhile since I had Jamaican food, so while on vacation in DC, I asked Yelp for suggestions. This place has a food truck that goes to different places daily, so I followed them on Twitter to find out where they'd be (Verizon Center in Chinatown). I could small the food from around the corner, so you know it's good! I ordered the jerk chicken which comes with rice, cabbage, and plantains. I rushed home and dug right in! The chicken was perfectly spiced and hit the spot. I'm usually not a cabbage person, but that was good too! And the fried plantains? Yum! I also got a Jamaican beef Patty to eat the following day, and it did not disappoint. They take cash and cards with a $10 minimum purchase. I'll make sure to come here next time I'm in DC!

awesome service. Excellent food. Affordable prices especially for a food truck in downtown dc. I had to google and gps the truck to find it's location and am so glad I did. They are the chic fil a of Caribbean food lol

I've seen this place around but never gave them a try until recently. I am very impressed and will be going back the next time I see them nearby! I got the jerk chicken with rice, vegetables and a small piece of corn. Every part of the platter was delicious. They gave me a ton of food. It was so much food that when I picked it up, before I even opened the lid, I said to my friend "I won't be able to finish this." I always lick my plate clean so for me to say that is a big deal. Fortunately they succeed not just in quantity but in taste. The chicken had a dry jerk seasoning which, according to my Jamaican friend, is the authentic way to make jerk chicken. If you can't handle spice you may want to try another one of their offerings. The chicken wasn't insanely hot but it did have an initial kick and had a slow burn that lingered. The rice was delicious and the veggies and corn were as well. I look forward to trying some of their other dishes soon. By the way, I was right, I could barely finish half of the food.

I love Jamaican beef patty and when I heard there was a food truck that offered it, I had to go check it out. When I arrived at the truck, there was already a line but the service was going pretty fast. When it came time for me to order, I asked for a beef patty, coco bread, and a rum cake. I would've ordered a main entree but wasn't very hungry. My food was ready as soon as I ordered which was great. Back at my office, I devoured the beef patty. It was very tasty, not really spicy, and the crust was perfectly flakey. My coco bread wasn't as sweet as other places I've had em, tasted just like normal hotdog/burger bread but slightly sweeter. I didn't eat the rum cake till I got home which might've been a mistake cause the rum definitely tasted super strong as I was eating it. I don't know if waiting to eat later made the flavor stronger but if it did, I made a huge mistake. Otherwise, I'm sure I would've liked it more.

Jerk chicken, rice and peas, plantains. Yum

What a Jerk! This is probably my favorite food truck. They have very good Jamaican food. I usually get jerk chicken, but I've also had the curry chicken, curry goat, and jerk chicken wings. The spice is excellent. The jerk flavor is just right and gets my nose running about mid-way through. (I have a very runny nose, if you haven't noticed). The plantains are on point, too. I go here about once a week on average. My only regret is that I did not take this food truck's Yelp virginity.

I had the pleasure of trying this place for the first time at a festival this past weekend and let me tell you, it was absolutely delicious! I couldn't decide whether to get curry goat or the jerk wings, soooooo I got both! They came with rice and peas, vegetables, and a choice of corn on the cob or fried plantains. I opted for the corn on the cob since I do not like fried plantains. The Good: Food was delicious, nice portions, very affordable. The Bad: only one thing, the corn on the cob was pretty small. Conclusion: will most definitely try them again and recommend to everyone!

Initially I chose mixed veggies as a side but changed it to mac and cheese with no issues at all; the staff was more than willing. The restaurant itself is spacious compared to most Jamaican spots and is located right next to BJ's. Lunch prices are reasonable, though the regular entrées are on the pricier side in my opinion. Some Jamaican restaurants in the area give you a couple of slivers of fried plantains to accent your meal. I was informed, "we don't do that here." Start with the Aloo and Channa pies and crab accras, order a cocktail early, and do not be surprised if your server is already one step ahead of you. We let Tim lead, which was the right decision. Not just knowledgeable, intuitive. The kind of service where you feel guided, not managed. He brought extra garlic aioli before we asked, we laughed, because he was absolutely right. That set the tone. The Aloo and Channa pies came out crisp and golden, with a filling that was warm, spiced, and balanced. Not heavy, not trying to prove anything, just well executed. The crab accras followed, light, clean fry, no grease, which matters. The sauces did their job. Each one added something instead of just sitting there looking pretty. Cocktails held their own. The West Indian Old Fashioned had depth without getting muddy. The Savannah was bright and easy in the best way. Together, they framed the food instead of competing with it. Then the Bake & Fish sandwiches. Solid on their own, but Tim brought lemon slices without prompting, and that was the move. That little hit of acid sharpened everything. Same intuition, twice. That's not luck. The kitchen shows restraint, which is where the confidence lives. This isn't "let's throw spice at it and call it Caribbean." The flavor is intentional, layered, and controlled. You can taste the difference. The only thing to know, the energy builds. What starts as dinner leans toward lounge as the night goes on. If you want quiet, time it right. If you want atmosphere, you're exactly where you should be. We will definitely be back.

The things I initially ordered were not available but rather than tell me that they disappeared into the back without telling me if or when they would be ready. I chose beef which was served with a special sauce (mayo and ketchup), because it was well seasoned and the filling was packed, the sauce wasn't needed. The crust was thin, flaky and delicious on its own. The buffalo wings served their homemade ranch, with 8 pieces were juicy, tender and delicious. Unfortunately the Cuban sandwich fell flat for me. The ingredients were ham, cheese, roasted pork, pickles, mayonnaise and mustard. The sandwich was flattened like a panini and I was excited for the first bite but the protein was too dry. As I lift the bread, there was only a teaspoon mayo and mustard spread. It was served with matchstick fries and a ramekin of ketchup.
