I had been wanting to try this place for a while. I got the hot chicken small bowl which is enough for one person. The problem was the sauces was too much on it and that needed to be on the side since the bowl basically became soup. I would not go out of my way for this place since I know other places that would be cheaper.
Having followed chilipeppercooks recipes on social media for years, we were excited to try Flavor Hive! We ordered the half rice/half fries base, honey chicken (sweet and spicy), steak (nice seasoning!!), and tons of toppings (chickpeas, red onion, jalapenos, fried onions, mozzarella cheese, tomatoes, purple cabbage, cucumbers, white and green sauces)! Great concept of a Halal fast casual spin on Chipotle or Cava. The portion sizes are HUGE. They are so generous with the base and toppings. Easily enough food for 2 meals. I will definitely try the quesadilla next time!
Okay, let me tell you about one of our FAVORITE spots--Flavor Hive. We first discovered them from their food truck parked across the street from a Best Buy, and I remember that day so clearly. It was super hot July 2025, and I was fresh post-op in compression from chest to feet. I refused to be out in that heat without extra air, so we had stopped at Best Buy to grab a window unit and that's how we ended up trying Flavor Hive. We noticed the truck across the street. Best decision ever! We got bowls loaded with steak, chicken, and lamb and it was just flavor overload in the best way. We' ve also tried the pita pockets, Quesadilla, Loaded fries, and even did the "bring your own chips" Walking taco bag option where they load them up with meats and topping SO good!! From that moment, we were hooked. This was our second time visiting their storefront (first time was during their soft opening), and you can really see how much they've elevated the space. Now there's a whole café side with its own entrance with beautiful club chairs, tables for four, and plenty of outlets if you want to sit, work, and sip your coffee. Then there's the main Flavor Hive food side. I love that you can grab coffee from either side too. For our April 2026 visit, we noticed lamb is no longer on the menu (and it's not at the food trucks anymore either, I asked!), but they've added a hot honey chicken and it is DELICIOUS. Not too spicy. I built a bowl with hot honey chicken and steak, light rice, fresh veggies and lettuce, and white sauce. They also have a new Hive sauce, which tasted like a smoky sauce with a little Thousand Island vibe also good. I got it on the side this time, but next time I'm definitely having them add it right onto my bowl. The fresh drinks are also a hit I went with strawberry watermelon and it was super refreshing. Great taste. Ginger pear is also really good. If you haven't been yet, whether you catch the food truck or visit the storefront, just know you're in for some of the most flavorful chicken (and steak) rice bowls you're going to find. This place does NOT miss.
Overall: 5/5 The origin story is unique and beautiful. A large space with a just as lovely cafe area attached. Food: 5/5 Excellent! I had the honey chicken quesadilla. I ate it so fast I forgot to take a pic. Will be back for sure. And it's halal. Ambiance: 5/5 Bright lighting, ample seating, cozy vybz Service: 5/5 Staff are super chill, friendly, and diverse, further amplifying the welcoming vybe.
Fabulous experience! First... the staff is so friendly and helpful! I'd go back just for that! The bowl is huge and flavors are fresh! Get it with all the amazing toppings. I love that you can pick two meats and half salad and half rice! Yum! The sauces are top notch! And a nice kick! The restaurant is clean and inviting.. it was busy so it could use a few more tables! But other than that it was perfection!
This has been on my list to try when it was a food truck in one location! - Regular Rice with Chicken - Regular Salad with Chicken -- added green sauce They were so generous with the portion of meat and toppings. It would have been a new experience to try it in a bag of chips, but that is too heavy on the stomach for me. I liked how the green sauce gave more hint of flavor in my bowl! The service was great and the workers were friendly and helpful!
Oh how I love this place and oh how I wish there was one closer to me. I've been to the food truck a few times and wanted to stop by the new brick and mortar location. Typically I get loaded lamb fries but today I tried something different. I opted for a small lamb & rice bowl with all the fixings. First of all, the fact that there is a small and a large bowl is crazy to me. The small bowl is plenty of food. If you get the large bowl, I imagine you must be sharing it with someone because who's going to eat all that. Just as I expected my bowl was delicious. The food and the flavors are always consistent, and the staff is always pleasant. I was too full for dessert so I'll try that another time. There were a few tables inside for eating but more outside. I'm so happy to see this business growing and thriving. Congratulations on the first of what I hope will be many physical locations.
My other go-to spot for halal rice bowls besides DCG! They're very different in flavor and topping. Flavor Hive has many sauce and topping options, basically unlimited, and they are VERY generous. The regular bowl will FILL you up. Sometimes they just put the toppings on the side in another bowl so you have even MORE LOL. Excellent service and efficient most of the time!! I usually get rice and salad with chicken and gyro (not listed for some reason) combo with most toppings. The toppings are a nice touch since they're fresh and veggies! I get all the sauces, but ask for less Green since it's so spicy... I've also enjoyed the Pistachio Latte (they use Rare Bird beans!), but sometime they forget to about the barista stations if it's busy lmao
Stopped by the cafe for a quick coffee run and instantly loved the vibe. Kinda sad I didn't try one of the specialty coffees this time, but that just means I'll definitely be back. The seating area is super comfy, and the background music is the perfect balance for getting work done or catching up with friends.
Flavor Hive honestly lives up to the viral hype. The chicken was mad juicy and full of flavor, sitting on fresh, fluffy rice with super fresh-cut veggies like onions and cilantro. You can tell everything was made with care and not just thrown together. I'd definitely grab it again if they're around, but I'm not waiting forever in a long line for it. It is a little pricey for a food truck (around $15), but still worth it in my opinion. I'd for sure recommend trying it at least once, especially for the chip bag bowl
Go to cafe hive next door - connected to flavor hive and they have housemade syrups. The man working at the window was very kind and shared what flavors he recommended. Tons of seating options too. We ordered two iced banana bread lattes which all lattes come with delicious cold foam. 10/10 the banana flavor was natural and was sooo good. We also ordered the tiramisu latte hot which was also very good. The cold foam was delectable.
Halal food truck turned restaurant -- we had to check this place out when they opened their new spot in Annandale! After seeing all the viral videos, we came prepared with our bags of chips and ordered in true Chipotle-style, picking our meats and veggies at the counter. I went with the Super Meat (a combo of all their meats), while my fiancé chose the chicken. We loaded everything up with sauces and added an order of fries on the side. The meats were all well-seasoned and really flavorful, but we realized our mistake -- the chips overpowered everything else, so we couldn't fully enjoy all the great flavors. Next time, we're definitely trying the bowl to let the meats shine! Portions were generous, service was fast and friendly, and overall it was a great experience. Can't wait to go back and do it right.
This is worth the hype. Flavor Hive is viral for all good reasons and this location is really clean, bright, and modern. The employees recommend the best options and the meat is halal and the toppings are so delicious! We have visited the Flavor Hive truck and it is always a long line and a bit chaotic, but this restaurant has amazing vibes. I feel like 2 people can eat each bowl they are so over stuffed by the time you add your favorite toppings.

Pretty good. I was a bit of a noob first time visiting. The nice gentleman was offering to try the proteins to both me and another clearly new customers. To be honest I'm not sure if the protein matters since there is so much happening in the bowls. You can tell everything is fresh, maybe the exception are fries are already cooked and not to order. Doesn't bother me since they still had good texture. Cool atmosphere and felt very inviting. Didn't try the green sauce but the red sauce is very mild. I much prefer this to other bowl spots and it's pretty convenient to get to. We'd want to try to cafe as well. read more
This is a review for their new extended section to the shop, cafehive, but I have been here for food at flavorhive and it is always so great with large portions enough for a few days! It was my first time at cafehive and I was impressed by the large selection of drinks and desserts on the menu. On this visit, I only tried their coffee, but I will definitely come back to try their desserts. I love the concept of the build your own desserts with the unlimited toppings! As for drinks- Tiramisu latte is the most popular and banana bread latte is one of the new ones and was recommended to me to try by the cashier. If you are deciding between the two, the tiramisu has the stronger coffee taste whereas the banana bread is sweet with a slight banana flavor. The only thing I will say is while the menu is beautiful the drinks don't really come out looking like how I expected based on what I have seen on Instagram with all the foam and toppings.. maybe an off day but the tiramisu latte I thought had mascarpone cold foam for example. read more
I can't believe that I've never reviewed Flavor Hive!! And their first brick and mortar location? First you have to know that I'm Egyptian but I'm not the one who miss the food from Egypt and eat Middle Eastern food everyday! I'm completely the opposite! I eat cheeseburgers and Italian the most! However, Flavor Hive have a spot in my heart! I go there with my keto chips bag, pork rinds bag (also Keto) or I get a salad bowl! There are many times that I had the rice bowls as well! This place is more than amazing! I have a numerous combinations that I mix and match in between and I've created flavors that made come back quickly to try the others! I'm not the person who would order the "everything" and I don't recommend it! But mixing two meats is still valid on my book! I love the ground beef!! I love the chicken!! I love the honey spicy chicken and I like the steak! I've spoke enough about the food but forgot the memories made their! Man! If Amgad or Shihan ( the founders) are there ... you're in luck! You locked in with the experience! I'm not talking about the food! You will get the same amazing food and generous portions with every person at this store even if the founders aren't there! This has to be one of the best places for halal food over rice. I have been following them on instagram for a while. I finally got to try their delicious meat over rice with amazing sauce. They have two options. Small meal for $12 or large portions for $16. I took the large one. They stuffed it with good portion that was good enough for two meals. The meat was very flavorful. I highly recommend the combination of white and spicy sauce. I ordered chips on the side. I love their chips. Nice and crispy and with a pinch of spice added to it. They also have some drinks to choose from. Overall, this place is great. FYI - during peak lunch hours on the weekend, this place can get crowded. Parking was hard to find. read more

CUSTOMER SERVICE AND QUALITY OF FOOD! My wife and I have been following Flavor Hive on social media for at least a year. We finally decided to make the trek from western Maryland to the new store front on a Friday afternoon. We fought through busy and brake wearing traffic to get here with hungry stomachs! This location appears to be converted into a restaurant from possibly a bank. There is plenty of free parking in a busy area of town. We arrived late afternoon and there were a few customers eating but no line. My wife and I walked up to the counter with a bag of Fritos scoops. The restaurants claim to fame is to bring your bag of chips, or whatever else and get the food on top! The person taking our order was super nice, had a huge smile and helped us make our topping decisions. We've seen the massive portions online so we split a walking taco and went simple with double chicken, rice, tomato, cilantro and white sauce! When he handed us the bag, it was warm and heavy! They had a decent selection of fresh juices and sodas on fountain as well. We sat down in the ample dining room seating, very excited. Is it worth the hype? YES!!! The food is seasoned perfectly, with a touch of heat but nothing the average person can't handle. My favorite part was honestly the rice. After finishing, I felt full but not gross like fast food. While eating, we got to watch a local artist painting a beautiful mural on the wall of Annandale which was really cool! After we finished eating and stood up to leave, a gentleman sitting at a nearby table stood up and asked us how our meal was and how far we had driven. We explained it was delicious and it was our anniversary so we decided to finally try it. He welcomed us and offered us a sweet treat for our anniversary. He gave us a slice of tiramisu and lattes that they make in their new machine. Wow!!! Outstanding. They have tons of latte options and ice cream too. This man introduced himself as Drew. He did not say anything else and was very humble. He was dressed in business clothes so I assumed he was the manager or something. I looked him up and discovered he was Drew Kellogg - the president of Flavor Hive and former executive of Chipotle! I love the concept of Flavor Hive as well as the customer service. You can tell all of the employees are treated well as they are smiling and attentive. The restaurant is very clean and modern. Thanks Drew and team for giving us an outstanding experience. read more

I have mixed feelings with the service and the size of the portions (because the regular salad bowl used to be what it's the "bigger/beast mode size"), this time we came with 2 other friends that live nearby, we decided to get dinner here since they also frequent this spot. This night in particular was fairly slow, we were able to secure a high top inside! Their brick and mortar location has a lot of seating area inside and outside, usually is busy that is best for take-out! The flavors are still very quality, the hive sauce is very unique and has the right amount of sweetness to balance the green one! Still the toppings are very fresh and the falafel still holds the reputation of being crunchy but not stodgy like other halal restaurants. My problem is that when the OG servers from the Flavor Hive Truck aren't on the shift, the people at the counter prepping the bowls, seem to be careless of what they serve you or how they serve the food, if I'm making sense. My friend wanted the beef/steak option with her salad and the employee told her "no we do not have beef" as she is looking at the protein station and confirming that, yes, they did have beef/steak available... they had a hard time to get my other friend's order, just the rice bowl and kept trying to give his partner rice when she wanted a salad. I'm not sure what's going on, but it seems like they just don't care (I get it, it's retail job and hard) but it shouldn't be that hard. I enjoyed my meal, even though they didn't give me any cheese nor explained why I couldn't get it. This is an okay spot for me, so I'll be coming because the food is great, just needs some improvement or being back the OG Truck guys read more

Flavor Hive had it's beginnings as a food truck but has grown exponentially enough to have it's own brick and mortar place. It's so wonderful to see the growth of this fan favorite food truck go to new heights. I went here earlier this summer when it opened and it wasn't too packed as I remembered. If you like chipotle-style places then this is no different. You have the option of getting a small meal for $12 or $16 for a large bowl. They do pack the bowl to the brim, and I am not kidding you; it lasted me for two servings. They do not skimp on any ingredients for your bowl. They are also known for loading up bags of chips with meat, rice tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, cilantro! Honestly for the price of $10 bucks that's a steal. In this place, there's also an ice cream maker machine that has the same concept too, bring your own cookies or anything you'd like on ice cream, and the store would blend their scoop of ice cream and your ingredient for a masterpiece you receive! It's so cool, but I don't know if I will be getting ice cream any time soon. Overall, my experience was wonderful, I didn't stay inside to dine in but I did notice that they had their own line of drinks. I can't say much but try it out too while your there. The bowls are definitely a must get! read more

I absolutely loveeeee this place! Me and my boyfriend visit about 3x a week and it always hits! I typically get the lamb gyro regular bowl and it's more than enough food for 1 serving. They stuff the toppings on thick and the toppings are always fresh and crispy! You have to get the crispy potato crisp as a topping. It's a must! Whew... I just got hungry thinking about a lamb bowl lol but seriously, the flavor is there. The quality is there. The taste is there. It's all there. The service is great. The line moves down quick and the ambiance is always buzzing. Food ratings: Lamb gyro: 5/5 As far as gyro meat goes, this is top notch. Super juicy. Super flavorful. A must try! Chicken: 4/5 It's really good chicken! It's juicy and Packs a lot of flavor. I just prefer the lamb! Fries: 3.5/5 They're decent fries. The seasoning is what makes it good! Pretty sure they're frozen fries with custom seasoning All the sauces are good. The flavor hive sauce is tangy. The white sauce reminds me of a yogurt or tzatziki sauce. The green sauce is SPICY so I recommend having it on the side. They have another orange sauce that's also tasty and savory. If you haven't tried out FlavorHive, you should! One weekend went to food truck, the following I HAD to stop by their actual storefront. This time, I took my whole family and we all got bowls of our choosing. Last time, I had a chicken and gyro (lamb) bowl so this time I tried half falafel and half chicken. Falafel was nice and crispy- love to see a nice green, herbaceous color on the inside. Of course, the chicken was great. I tried a bite of the beef too-if you love spiced ground beef, this is the one. I'm personally not a big ground beef or beef person, but it was good. It reminded me of taco meat but more flavorful and more Middle Eastern/South Asian influenced flavors. Personally, my favorite protein choices are the gyro and chicken. Went on a Sunday afternoon so it was chill and not packed. Overall, everything is great and we will come back. The only thing I ask is please bring back their date chai! I traveled from far to the food truck and to this shop looking forward to the chai, but apparently it was a limited time thing! read more

After hearing all the hype about the food truck, we were excited to have the restaurant nearby! Soft opening day was crowded, but a week later and the crowd has died down enough. Small inside, but big flavors! I went with the chicken bowl and I loved the freshness of the toppings and of course the sauces. I think they would even fit from having a menu posted + all options as it was confusing and we almost missed out on the amazing fries I didn't know they had. read more

Ambiance: fun clean restaurant Service: friendly staff. It's an open line like Chipotle where you choose your protein and toppings. They add a lot for you so I like that!! Food: fun concept. I think the chips I brought was a bit too salty but the toppings were plentiful. You can get chips or do a bowl instead of bringing in a bag of chips. I did attach the menu so you can see the prices. I should have gotten a bowl with rice. But the portion is huge so I do have a lot of leftovers for lunch. So excited. read more

My family and I absolutely love the Flavor Hive in Annandale! We travel over an hour just to come to this location, and every single time it is well worth the drive. The quality of the food, the warm atmosphere, and the consistency of the service make this place stand out among all others. A huge thank you to the entire staff and management team for keeping everything running so smoothly. You can tell they take pride in what they do, and it genuinely shows in both the food and the overall experience. I also want to give special recognition to Lanell. He is incredibly hospitable, friendly, and attentive every visit. He makes you feel welcome from the moment you walk in. Keep up the great work -- employees like Lanell are a big part of why we keep coming back! Highly recommend this location to anyone considering it. Five stars all the way! read more

I ate here recently and thought it was decent overall. The servings were huge, the flavors were great, and the prices were very reasonable for the portion sizes. The restaurant itself was pretty, and the bathroom was clean and nicely kept. I also got the ice cream and for the size and quality it was great. Would not get again because it was 9 DOLLARS. For the portion isn't bad but I personally-never again. Service was fantastic and very very kind. I had to tip because they were AWESOME in giving me advice and tips on what to get. And let's just say their advice was great. While it's not a place I'd add to my must-eat list, it was definitely good and worth trying. read more

this place lives up to the hype!!! i'm soooo grateful for a good fast casual BOWL restaurant. devastated that the old truck menu items are no longer offered but i love the bowls here so much i almost don't mind!! the portions are soooo generous I hope shrinkflation doesn't come for them bc the prices are sooo reasonable!!! $12 for a regular bowl and $16 for a large. their falafel is my fav, so good, green and vibrant inside (c*va could never...). i also enjoy their chicken! i get every topping offered and they load huge scoops into my bowl. i really enjoy all the sauces as well!! the hive sauce is amazing. i also enjoy the truffle sauce! i should also mention i LOVE the fountain sodas!! more places should offer maine root fountain sodas. sometimes they have the palestine soda cans as well- you have to try those if you haven't! i have not tried the teas or coffees or soft serve yet but i bet they are good also!!! the staff are soooo nice as well - in particular there is a female employee who is sooo kind. i didn't catch her name but she has been there in the evenings! i usually have some questions and all of them are so helpful. there's plenty of parking and seating so it's easy to come and go or eat in, whatever is convenient! their hours are also very accessible!!! love this place sm!! read more
Finally got here after hearing the hype for months and this place lives up its name! You pick rice, fries or salad as your base and then protein, veggies and sauces. Or you can bring your own bag of chips for a walking taco bag. Very generous serving of protein and veggies. Loved the crunch from the cabbage & cucumbers. Sauces are delicious. The green is SPICY, which helped me slow down a bit, which was good, because everything is so tasty. I'm a spicy gal, but it's up there on spice level. I ordered fries & regular chicken and all the veggies. It turned out to be 3 meals for me :-) Next time, personally, I'll do salad because the portions are so large and it was more than plenty. The most popular "chip" bag brought in was Cheetos, in case you were curious! We ate in, there are just a few tables, so it's more a place to eat and go, versus linger. There's also a couple of outdoor tables for days when it's not 16 degrees out! All in all, great experience, great flavors, and we'll be back! read more
Essentially a better, halal, chipotle. This place lives up to its hype which was surprising. Brought my chips and got half chicken half lamb, I thought they'd skimp on the toppings because of their popularity and cause chipotle does but I got two heaping scoops of each and plenty of the veggies and sauces to make an incredibly hefty bag. I ate the whole thing but my friends who aren't bottomless pits like me had plenty left over for another meal. Good value and delicious read more

After stopping by the original Flavor Hive food truck many times, so I had to stop by their new location and I'm so happy I did. I brought my own bag of Doritos and got everything I could lol. I love love love this! My husband got a rice bowl and he loved his food as well! In my humble opinion this place is better than chipotle and everyone is super friendly and the place is clean. I didn't wait in a long line because I went around 9pm so it was calm. For two entrees we paid about $26 and it was so worth it. Can't wait to try the milkshake bar the next time I stop by!! read more

My overall thoughts on @flavorhivetruck : Was it worth the two hour wait? -Yes and no. We would've been out in an hour, but they ran out of meat. So we had to wait another 45 mins for them to bring the food from their Annandale location, and then cook it. Which is why it took two hours long. I heard other people say they waited upwards of FIVE HOURS. I wouldn't wait that long. So if you can make the drive to Annandale, do so! The wait sucked cause it was hella windy. If it was a nice cool day, I wouldn't have minded. How was the food? -AMAZING!! The flavors are absolutely delicious. Super seasoned, the white sauce was bomb and the green sauce was so spicy. But a good spicy! They ran out of the sesame chickpeas which I was so sad about. I was looking forward to trying those!! How about the portion size? -I've seen the portions they give on TikTok and IG, and it def did not look like what we got. I think they were just trying to spread out what they brought back for the rest of the night. The line kept getting longer and longer!! So the portions were kind of skimp. How much was it? -We paid $56 for two bags of chips and a rice bowl. Pretty standard price. Would you try it again?? -HELL YES!! We plan on visiting their brick and mortar store in Annandale ASAP! I have been to flavor hive once before maybe about a year ago at the Alexandria location and specifically remember really loving the date chai. So when I was craving that again, I decided why not go stop by again, but this time at the Annandale location. We decided to actually order our food online and pick it up in person. While ordering, I noticed that the date chai was not on the menu, but I figured that maybe when I'm picking it up, I could just order it in person. Come to find out, they got rid of it It's so devastating because that was such a unique drink--i can't get it anywhere else in the area. me and my husband both ordered two rice bowls with chicken. We were handed our paper bag with her to go order and we headed home. Mind you we live 20 mins away. We got home, sat down to eat, and as soon as we unpacked our bag, we noticed that they only gave us one rice bowl. We were both so upset because we were actually pretty hungry and annoyed at the fact that we have to drive another 20 minutes there and back. So we go back, we show them the receipt and tell them that we only got one rice bowl. The woman working the to go order says that there's only one rice bowl on the receipt, which is why she packed one. However, there was in fact, two rice bowls on the receipt and once we pointed it out to her, she said she misread it. Disappointing experience. However, the rice bowl itself was very good and flavorful. It had a desi taste to it that i liked compared to a more middle eastern taste like most halal cart places if that makes sense.
