This was our first time here & the burger wasn't anything special or amazing. I've had much better elsewhere. Having said that, I'm still rating this spot a 3 star bc it was still a legit burger. We waited about 20 min to get our food. The fries were delicious. It was crispy & had just the right amount of salt. Would I come back? Probably not unless I decide to visit the beach again & if I'm hungry then yes but I'll try their other stuff on the menu. Ambiance was cool overlooking the ocean.

Pick up some local merch while visiting.

Amazing place, nestled in Lompoc CA. If you enjoy drives along the coast, this should on your top ten. About a half hour past Santa Barbara, you'll find this hidden gem. Great place for lunch. I highly recommend the burgers. There amazing.

We had already had a sandwich so we just split some snack food, I have the spicy cauliflower and the wife had a corn dog. All was good, Service is friendly. The view is spectacular from their dining room. That would be five stars for sure. The cauliflower was a bit tame and the corn dog was fine, but nothing special. Prices seemed quite reasonable considering the remote location. It's a great place to eat when at the beach! Well, it's the only place to eat.

I came here to write a five star view about these crazy delicious burgers.... And got caught up reading other reviews and now realized I have to go back ASAP for clam chowder, fried clams, chili on my burger, and every other item on the menu! Lol If you live close by this is like a mini vacation from home. If you don't, this is worth the drive! The beaches not anywhere near as crowded as I expected. FU surfers, a fisherman or two politely waiting till the end of the day and most of the swimmers are out of the water, lots of dogs, two lifeguards on duty until six and just a great chill vibe. There's an amazing campgrounds and looks like little cabins that are bookable, but usually booked out a year in advance I heard. And the icing on the cake is these beautiful burgers. I'm not joking... we went two days in a row. Any place that puts still crisp, fresh shredded lettuce on their burgers is tops in my book.

Wow that burger lives up to its reputation. The grilled onions and cheese are absolute must adds, and I personally also like the jalapeños (and avocado when I'm feeling crazy). Their fries are also really good; they have a good crisp and the seasoning is tasty. I also tried the chili in a bread bowl one night and was very pleased. It tasted great and was a perfect size. And to top it all off, there's a great view of the beach while you eat! They really have a solid selection of food, and they're also a great general store. We bought some bait, and they looked super stocked with general camping supplies. Every staff member I've talked to has been great; they are happy and eager to help.

I can't believe I just spent nearly 2 hours waiting for the most mediocre, dry, flavorless burger I've ever had. My husband and I were visiting the area this weekend and heard nothing but good things about this place. We are utterly disappointed and honestly upset we even invested the time (and money) into this place. Firstly, we spent $10 on parking and then another $40 on two burgers and one side of fries. That wasn't even including drinks, which were an additional $10. We were told our burgers would take 30-45 mins, which was a little hard to hear, but we figured they would be well worth the wait given how busy the shack was. Well that wait turned into an agonizing 1 hr and 45 mins. Absolutely ridiculous! Now for the food. The burger was so incredibly mediocre that I started laughing when I took my first bite. Hard and dry patty that tastes like it's been frozen for weeks, thick tomato and onion slices, a gross amount of shredded lettuce, and a secret sauce that tasted anything but secret...probably store bought. We also got ranch on the side, which was eerily close to the flavor of Hidden Valley dressing. I always believe in saying one nice thing, so I will concede that the fries were well seasoned. Other than that, save yourself a lot of time and money and just get a burger somewhere else. A very expensive and time consuming mistake!

Worth it, MAYBE, if you're camping here. My fiancée and I made the journey during our Solvang vacation and were shocked but how long it took to get two burgers. I kid you not, 1 & 1/2 hours, for two burgers and chili fries. Luckily there is a small store inside as well that sells beer because there no way you can expect a sane person to wait that long for a burger. I assume the staff are cooking on a George Foreman grill. The burgers were not fresh pressed, it gave the impression that it was frozen at one point. The burger didn't not stand out whatsoever ever and neither did the chili fries. Best part of the experience was finding a seat inside with a view. Would not recommend to anyone that's not camping here, not worth the hour round trip as well. I think you would get the same service and quality from a little league snack shack. -ps, the security gate will also try to charge you for being inside for more than an hour, which the "burger pass" admits, just argue with them about how long the food took.

I love that they keep their grilled burgers on a great toasted sesame seed bun and not a brioche like everyone else seems to be switching over to. Love this fresh ingredients and simplicity of it all nothing fancy, but a store packed with all the supplies you need and then some., thanks again, guys for keeping it consistent for decades. One of my favorite burgers of all time.

We ordered two burgers, onion rings, and chili cheese fries. While I don't think the burgers were the best in the area, the onion rings definitely were the best I've ever had. The owner was nice to accommodate us for indoor seating with my 3 kids and a large stroller. It was nice and quiet with a great view.

5 stars - A Must-Visit Gem! I can't say enough good things about the Jalama Beach Store! The employees were super friendly and welcoming--it made the whole experience even better. The food? Absolutely amazing. The Jalama Burger is hands-down one of the best burgers I've ever had--juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The onion rings are to die for, crispy and delicious. We also tried the fried pickles and fries, and everything was just spot on. Whether you're stopping by for a meal or just a snack, this place is a must if you're anywhere near Jalama Beach. We'll definitely be back!

If you're ever and jalama Beach make sure you stop at the beach store. It has everything you can think of, from canned goods to snacks to beer to boating, supplies, clothing, etc., etc. Make sure you try their burgers, fried pickles and fries. The fries are very crunchy. They're delicious! There's indoor and outdoor seating. The little store is very tiny inside, so make sure you go and get what you need and get out ASAP, a little claustrophobic. Lots of foot traffic.

What can I say. Jalama beach store is an immaculate experience for anyone involved. I grew up going to Jalama, but nostalgia points aside this place still makes some great burgers. I had the salmon burger which had a huge slab of well-cooked salmon on a delicious bun with tomato lots of lettuce. Fire. Friends had the classic jalama burger and the garden burger. For sides we shared the fries, fried pickles, and fried zucchini. The fried pickles with the house sauce were especially delectable (their batter is seasoned so nicely). Great reviews from all parties. Plus you have a killer view of the beach! Bonus points for being able to buy your own coke and not be over charged. Boy do I love Jalama. Must-go if you're in town!

Little beach shop in the middle of a county beach park. Worth seeking out and worth the drive. Go for the burger, stay for the beach. We both had the Jalama burger with a side of fries, onion rings and mozzarella sticks. Ge the Jalama sauce for the fires! So worth the drive, so glad a local in Pismo Beach told us how to find the pace. It seems to be a well known haunt for the locals. Totally recommend getting of the beaten path and getting a burger.

I'm normally not a yogurt person, but I really enjoyed theirs. I'm pretty sure the granola was homemade or at the very least sourced from a whole food brand. First, Finch & Fork is essentially just the restaurant inside the Kimpton Canary Hotel. What I mean is that it's not a restaurant that happens to be inside of hotel property (think Caruso's). It's just where you eat as a hotel guest that is hungry for brunch. We had an 11:00 AM reservation, which I believe was the earliest brunch seating. The hotel lobby was packed and chaotic when we arrived. We checked in and sat down to wait, but while we were waiting, multiple other parties of two who checked in after us were seated first. Not a huge issue on its own, but not a great start. The Mother's Day brunch itself consisted of a buffet plus an entrée selection. The buffet had three main sections: seafood (oysters, shrimp, tuna poke), salads, and miscellaneous bites and desserts like deviled eggs, Italian wedding soup, and macarons. Honestly, the buffet felt more like cocktail hour appetizers at a wedding than a true luxury brunch spread. The entrées were fine. The service was fine. Nothing was bad, but nothing felt memorable or special either. The atmosphere was also extremely loud...noticeably so. What really dropped the rating for me was the value. For two people with no alcohol (just iced tea), the total came out to $264.60. That price was honestly shocking for what was offered. Nothing about the food, service, or atmosphere justified that kind of cost. As we were leaving, we noticed a Photo Booth setup and a bouquet-making station across the lobby. No one had mentioned either of these to us, and the bouquet station appeared unattended, so we weren't even sure whether it was included or an extra charge. Overall, I left feeling disappointed, especially because this was meant to be a special Mother's Day outing for my mom. If you're just looking for a casual hotel brunch/lunch/dinner, it's perfectly fine. But for a holiday brunch at this price point, I expected something much more polished, elevated, and memorable.

What one does not anticipate stumbling upon is a stealthy, spectacular triumph of flavor hiding in plain sight. Let us begin with the revelations from the kitchen, which operates with a muscular generosity completely unbothered by its zip code. Consider the bacon-wrapped jalapeño poppers. In lesser hands, these are a greasy, afterthought appetizer. Here, they are elevated to a robust study in textures: the shattering crispness of perfectly rendered pork fat giving way to the bright, vegetal heat of the pepper. It is an unpretentious masterpiece. The ribeye tacos follow suit, arriving with staggering, bountiful portions that mock the typical stinginess of hotel dining. The beef carries a charred, undeniable richness, proving that this kitchen harbors serious, hidden talent. Even the bar delivers a shock to the system: a Winter's Bourbon concoction that possesses a seasonal gravity and warmth you would expect from a velvet-roped speakeasy, not a lobby counter. Yet, to experience this hidden gem, one must navigate the bizarre, static theater of the front-of-house. Hospitality is, fundamentally, a kinetic art. It is a dance of invisible choreography, anticipating needs and clearing plates. The manager on duty, however, seemed entirely unaware of this requirement, remaining locked in a state of profound, almost geological stillness. Anchored to a single table and clutching a siren-branded Starbucks cup as if it were a talisman against actual labor, they never breached a five-foot radius. One longed to see them traverse the room--a brisk walk to inspect a corner booth, a sweeping pivot to direct traffic, or simply the basic physical act of placing one foot in front of the other to confirm they were, in fact, part of the restaurant's ecosystem. This visual dissonance extends to the bartender, who engineered my exceptional bourbon while engaged in the vigorous, open-mouthed mastication of chewing gum. It is a casual defiance of professional decorum that makes the drink's excellence all the more baffling. In the end, this restaurant is a profound paradox. It is a genuine, undeniable find--a place where you will feast remarkably well on ribeye and rendered fat. Just come prepared to marvel at the food, while wondering if the management might eventually remember how to walk.
