Their chocolate is very rich and satisfying. It kept my sweet tooth satiated for a while and I didn't need to eat too much chocolate either. read more

I tried their famous chocolate chip cookie, and it was alright. Flavor-wise it was pretty balanced and not overly sweet, which I appreciated. But it was missing the wow factor that you get from Levain or Culture Expresso (two other solid spots for a chocolate chip cookie). The one thing I'll say is that the cookie I got was room temperature- it's possible it tastes much better warm, as is usually the case for cookies. Might come back to try their hot chocolate though, which looks intriguing. read more

I had not had the chef's rich hot chocolate for a while and just took a chance and grabbed one as I was in Grand Central. I am happy to report the drink is still like drinking from Willy Wonka's river! Now, some of you may be so used to watery Swiss Miss or Starbucks mix so this may not be your cup of...cocoa. :) This is not "chocolate tea," as my husband calls it. You should expect not a thin hot cocoa but rather that you will experience a ladle of molten lava from the Chocolate Factory's river. You shall not be disappointed. I do miss the orange marmalade-y flavor they once added in on request, just to mention. read more

Fun store to visit if you're a fan of Jacques Torres and they have good selection of chocolates. Highly recommend the wine flavors because the insides are so creamy. The chocolate boxes are reasonably priced and they also sell boxes of other chocolate snacks, ice cream, and other goodies. read more

We've loved Jacques Torres Hot Chocolate (both prepared in-store and the canned mix, regular and Wicked) for years (decades?). It's been a while, but recently purchased a 14 oz can for $25 (!) from their Grand Central location on 12/10/2024. After getting home we excitedly mixed it as per directions with steamed whole milk, but sadly it just doesn't taste like it did before. Now it's just a very mild chocolate taste with almost no spiciness. This hot chocolate used to be something special with an intense, rich taste. Frankly "Tepid" would be a much better description than "Wicked". Very disappointing, as the original product had really been something special and worth the premium pricing. read more

You're spending the day in DUMBO and have eaten at Time Out Market, Lucky Rabbit Noodles or even just grabbed pizza at Juliana's... and now it's time for something a little sweet! Ambience Enter Jacques Torres! Walking through the heavy wooden doors you're instantly smacked in the face with the smell of real, genuine, authentic chocolate. Service I always have memorable experiences here. Cluny and Emma are great, as their recommendations are spot-on, and when I bring in large tour groups they always show them such friendly hospitality. The Goods First off, a very generous selection of handmade Bon Bons (known for having a hard exterior and a bit of ganache in the center) awaits you at the main counter. Dark on the left, Milk Chocolate to the right. The Cookies and Hot Chocolate you're tasting here use high quality ingredients and are curated by chocolatier Jacques Torres who cut his teeth as the pastry chef at Le Cirque in Manhattan for over a decade before coming to DUMBO and literally creating a chocolate factory. He then filled it with tasty creations for every level of sweet tooth to enjoy. Value Full disclosure, prices are higher than your checkout counter chocolate bars you may be used to, but still reasonable for the quality. If you're on a budget, the dipped chocolate cookies are filling, and big enough to share. Secret Tip Hands-down some of the genuinely best-tasting no-frills* hot chocolate during the cold months. (Iced hot chocolate in the summer, as well as a full gelato selection!) *No-frills meaning they don't pile on copious amounts of toppings to simply wow you with looks. This tastes smooth and rich, a truly decadent experience. read more

Our friend recommended the cookie here, so we decided to give it a try. We had the chocolate chip. Pretty good. No complaints from me. I had a piece of the 80% chocolate truffle. Quite rich and decadent. Could easily see this bring my go to chocolatier if I lived in the neighborhood. read more

Not having a Jacques Torres Chocolate close to me during the working week has been challenging. But there's Godiva in Roosevelt Field?! SMDH... Long Island problems. It's a beautiful Saturday afternoon, I'm in DUMBO with my son and I see Jacques Torres Chocolate across the street from Time Out Market. I tell him I am so jonesin' for a Wicked Hot Chocolate! He said it may be the first day of fall but its 80 degrees, how about a big piece of bark? This is why my offspring just gets me. I know Jacques Torres Chocolate offers ice cream on this warm day. I haven't had quality chocolate in it seems like forever, lets indulge! While waiting online we see Nirvana, two huge platters of chocolate love. It all depends on your mood, dark chocolate or milk chocolate? Jacques Torres Chocolate has it covered. We got a big piece of milk chocolate bark, jumped in the Jeep and headed back to the burbs. Driving with a smile on my face and chocolate on my fingers? 10 yelp stars. read more

Their hot chocolate is delicious and well worth a try. It is very rich, so the small size goes a long way! Their chocolates are very good quality, and the cookies are also delicious (and huge). Stop in to pick up a gift or have a snack when you are visiting Dumbo! This is more of a takeout option than a place to sit and eat, but there are plenty of places to take your treats outside in the area. read more

This place serves one of the best hot chocolates in town. The lady behind the counter went above and beyond in helping us pick our choice of hot chocolate (wicked). The place looks spacious inside, however, due to covid they don't allow inside seating. No chairs and tables outside so you end up eating / drinking while walking; no big deal, anything goes in NY. read more

I finally got to try their famous hot chocolate! It was very rich so the small was the right size for me! I asked for extra milk to cool it off and to try to dilute it. I stoped by to pick up a few gifts for my future mother-in-law's birthday. She loves their original cookie dough mix! They also had lots of other chocolate pieces as well as ice cream. It's a cute shop to visit if you're in Dumbo but it is mostly a takeout place. read more

Cookie review: The cookie is gigantic. Excellent quality chocolate and cookie. Its a crunchy cookie, so if a big gooey cookie is your thing this is not for you. Highly overrated. Super sweet staff, very thoughtful and attentive. Clean place with room to sit, which is huge in NYC.

This place is super cute and had a great selection of chocolates, covered almonds, caramels, truffles, etc. Came in for the hot chocolate and it was very rich. You'll definitely feel satisfied with the small. Didn't realize that they closed at 7 and we got there at around 6:50 but they didn't rush us and didn't make us feel like we were an inconvenience. Really appreciated that and I hope to come here one day with time to actually sit and enjoy! read more

We hit Jacque Torres every time we're in the city. It's worth the ride in from Manhattan. The DUMBO location is charming, and the staff is always friendly. There is a wide variety of preboxed chocolates to choose from, but individual pieces are also available in the build your own boxes. Must tries for me are the cookies (both OG and chocolate dipped) and the thick and rich hot chocolate. I savor each sip, and I'm always sad when I reach the bottom of the cup. Yeah, it's that good. We have ordered delivery through Goldbelly to our home, but it's always special to get the cookies fresh from the shop. There is a small seating area if you'd prefer to eat your treats in the shop, but we prefer a stroll through DUMBO to take in Brooklyn's cool vibes. read more

Was looking for sweets in the area when I saw the name Jacques Torres on Yelp. Where did I know this name? Nailed It! Of course! I'm sure he has plenty of awards and accolades but I just thought it was cool that I recognized his name from the show. When I got in the store I bee-lined straight for the cookies near the register, but I could tell I'd be tempted by other items if I looked any longer. I picked up the chocolate chip cookie and white chocolate chip cookie and really enjoyed both! Though I'm more of a thick and soft cookie lover, these are more on the thin side but still soft and chewy. There are shards of chocolate in every bite! But it still manages not to be too sweet and there is salt to balance it out. I'd love to go back one day and see what else Jacques has perfected! read more

Only had the hot chocolate here, but I think that's about all I would try after having it. It was way too thick, hard to drink, not much milk in it, and just tasted too bitter. Make sure to bring some water if you want to try this drink. read more

I really like the banana ice cream. I'm just confused why the sampling was limited to 2. What if I wanted 3 scoops, harder to decide.

I've had the classic chocolate chip cookie - which is served warm - before, but decided to go for the mudslide this time around. So decadent! The vibe of this location is sort of odd. It's weirdly spacious and the decor is kind of outdated here. Otherwise, they stock pretty much all of the essentials, so no major complaints. read more

Just had to stop by here while in the area because I love cookies and had to see how these stacked up... I also figured I would try out their famous hot chocolate too... you know... "When in Rome" :) I ordered a chocolate chip and a blackout cookie and a mocha hot chocolate. I tried to get a regular coffee too but they said they didn't have regular drip coffee so I went with a cappuccino instead. Now the hot chocolate was delicious... so thick and rich just like drinking a melted chocolate bar... definitely not your typical Swiss Miss... lol As for the cookies I tried a piece of each and they were good. I just thought they would be better after all the hype. They are probably better warm... I should have asked for them to be warmed up. They also had a dessert case as well as gelato plus a selection of chocolates to purchase. Since it's almost Easter they had plenty of chocolate rabbits to go around. It was a nice spot to visit... read more

Sadly I am not in New York to enjoy this in person, but the last time I visited, before Covid of course, I purchased some powdered Wicked hot chocolate mix. On a cold damp day in Atlanta, I am enjoying a cup made with skim milk along with a shortbread cookie, and it is perfection. This hot chocolate has very fine pieces of whole chocolate and makes a creamy cup of chocolate, spiced just enough to make it so much better than ordinary! It is not spicy. It is not hot, and it is not even wicked ha ha! The directions called to mix 4 tablespoons of powder with 1/2 cup milk, which is how they make it at the shop. I like mine a little thinner than that, so I use about 5 tablespoons to 8 ounces. If you want to treat yourself during these cold days ahead, order some of this mix! read more

The cookie that I got was REALLY good (I recommend the chocolate dipped chocolate chunk cookie). It was crunchy and delicious. The hot chocolate was wayyyy too rich, though. It was like drinking a chocolate lava cake. I honestly never thought I would say that a hot chocolate needed more milk, but this drink was much too intense. I think that I might have been a little misled by other reviews on here that said this is the best hot chocolate in Brooklyn. read more

It's super delicious. But. I do not understand how it only gets 2 $$ sign here on Yelp ??? It should be 4 $$$$ ( $$$ at least) It's super expensive here ... We got 6 small pieces of 3 different flavor chocolates, Lemon. Redwine and expresso... $$$$14.40 that's about 2.50 a piece. Thats not a 2 $$ listing. That's in my mind a 3$$$or 4$$$$ Yes. It's a cool place to buy any manner of packages of chocolate goodies for friends/family/to eat at home later yourself. What a cute chocolate shop! They serve hot chocolate THE RIGHT WAY- spiced & with a dollop of homemade cream, none of that marshmallow business. The shop is so fragrant, and because of the location, its always busy. Seating seems to usually be taken, but the homemade truffles are still worth the visit! As usual, the hazelnut praline is my favorite. read more

Went here based on a recommendation of the chocolate chip cookie since we were staying close by. It was such a good cookie! Super thin, yet chewy. It had the perfect amount of chocolate aka a lot! We ended up coming back the next day because of the really cute chocolate Santas and Snowmen. They made for a perfect little gift for Christmas. Service wasn't anything to write home about. Seemed like the staff just kind of stood around and didn't really ask if anyone needed help. I recommend if you're in the area and want a really good chocolate chip cookie! My husband's friend, Dino, introduced us to their gigantic chocolate chunk chocolate chip cookies. It was a "thanks for having me over the whole weekend" kinda of a gift. People need to come to my house with THESE kinds of gifts more often. This is a chocolate lovers wonderland, and they make the most of out their modest footprint in DUMBO. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Look at all the noms for Easter. Look at all the noms for "just because." You will leave this store with something; maybe not for you, but I did. 5 cookies, and then I get the sixth one FREE? Throw it in the bag. $17?! Throw it in the bag. Leave store in a trance. I came here on a whim after it had been on my "yelp collection" for a couple months. I literally WALKED for this lol but it's so worth it. First of all the views and stores along the way are a treat and it was a sunny day in Brooklyn so that was a special blessing. It's fairly big inside there were two areas where you could purchase desserts and a cute little sitting area if you wanted to stay. I ordered the chocolate chip cookie as it is (no vegan or gluten free today lol) and I took it to go. I hurried back to my little cubicle like the New Yorker I am ate lunch and enjoyed this magical cookie for dessert. If you are a chocolate chip cookie fan this is for you. It's moist, soft, full of flavor and chocolate with just the right amount of crunch on the edges. I really wanted to know what the cookie tasted like warm so I also microwaved it a bit and although it was good I prefer it as i purchased it. Definitely will be back whenever I'm in the area or have a craving ! read more
