But it was missing the wow factor that you get from Levain or Culture Expresso (two other solid spots for a chocolate chip cookie). We hit Jacque Torres every time we're in the city. It's worth the ride in from Manhattan. The DUMBO location is charming, and the staff is always friendly. There is a wide variety of preboxed chocolates to choose from, but individual pieces are also available in the build your own boxes. Must tries for me are the cookies (both OG and chocolate dipped) and the thick and rich hot chocolate. I savor each sip, and I'm always sad when I reach the bottom of the cup. Yeah, it's that good. We have ordered delivery through Goldbelly to our home, but it's always special to get the cookies fresh from the shop. Sadly I am not in New York to enjoy this in person, but the last time I visited, before Covid of course, I purchased some powdered Wicked hot chocolate mix. On a cold damp day in Atlanta, I am enjoying a cup made with skim milk along with a shortbread cookie, and it is perfection. This hot chocolate has very fine pieces of whole chocolate and makes a creamy cup of chocolate, spiced just enough to make it so much better than ordinary! It is not spicy. It is not hot, and it is not even wicked ha ha! The directions called to mix 4 tablespoons of powder with 1/2 cup milk, which is how they make it at the shop. I like mine a little thinner than that, so I use about 5 tablespoons to 8 ounces. If you want to treat yourself during these cold days ahead, order some of this mix! read more
