Manhattan's oldest chocolate house and there is a reason why they have survived since 1923. They offer wonderful chocolates of all types and terrific friendly service. I love dark chocolate and wanted a quick treat. Three dark chocolate covered pretzels and a dark chocolate lemon chiffon to have with my coffee across the street. Just perfect, delicious, and at a great price. So worth it to satisfy a sweet tooth craving! read more

If you're looking for classic, no-frills, excellent chocolate in NYC, Li-Lac Chocolates is a must-visit. Known as the city's oldest chocolatier, this Greenwich Avenue flagship (opened in 2019) feels like a modern home for a brand with deep roots. Founded in 1923 by George Demetrious--a Greek immigrant who trained in France--Li-Lac has been doing things the old-school way for over a century. For decades, everything was made by hand in their original Christopher Street shop using traditional techniques like marble-topped tables and copper kettles. That dedication to craft still shows. This is an especially important destination for those of us preparing to celebrate Easter. The selection is vast --120+ varieties ranging from classic truffles, chocolate bunnies, to exquisitely packaged gift boxes. Everything tastes fresh, rich, and nostalgic without feeling outdated. It's rare to find a place that sticks so closely to its roots and still delivers at this level. The prices are high, but Li-Lac delivers. Bonus: they've got multiple locations across NYC now--and even ship nationwide if you need a chocolate fix from afar. read more

excellent services at this location :) I always feel good about it. One thing, if you're coming during the morning, Apollo bagels customers are on line and blocking the entrance. LOL store friendly always and I highly recommend here. Across the street, there're place to eat outdoors bunch of benches esp, during spring and summer seasons. read more

Was wandering around town and spotted this chocolate shop. They seemed pretty specific to New York and wanted to give them a try. The counter staff was extremely friendly. I got a few things inside the case to try and all of the chocolates were delicious. You could also pick up things from the shop. Smelled delicious inside and definitely had the chocolate vibe. Give them a try for yourself. read more

Li-lac has many locations sprinkled around the city, but I enjoy this west village location the most. It's a really nice storefront with a great selection of chocolates and seasonal candies. Everyone who works there is so nice and they usually have samples. They're also next door to Apollo Bagels! read more

I have always been intrigued and very impressed by their very creative and architectural chocolate creations (think Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty, cars, animals, lipsticks etc all made of chocolate!) Call me prejudiced, but I have always assumed that they are more about the looks and design than the actual taste of chocolate... hence although I've been admiring their chocolaty art every single time I walk by any of their stores across the city, I haven't tried the chocolate... until now! Samples couple of their fresh made chocolate items. Overall everything was too sweet for me. Legendary fudge chocolate walnut: This is my favorite. It's very fudgy, decadent, the walnuts added interesting texture. This one surprisingly is the lesser sweet of all the items I tried. P.B. & J. Bar Dark: I just can't resist PB&J in any form! This one is good, thick PB layer (kinda fluffy) on top of a thinner layer of jelly. Love the mix of different textures from PB, J and the chocolate shell. However everything was too sweet for me. Raspberry Jelly Bar Dark: like the combo of jelly and crunchy chocolate shell texture. But the raspberry jelly is way too sweet. Mousse roll dark: enjoyed the texture of fluffy mousse inside covered in crunchy chocolate shell and adored with fun chocolate sprinkles. Unfortunately again way too sweet. Coconut cluster dark chocolate: very crunchy, but too dry for me read more

We heard about Li-Lac from a Business Insider clip. When you walk in you're still greeted with the smell of chocolate even though their products are made in Brooklyn now. Like others have mentioned it is a bit pricey so we opted to try a number of be spoke chocolates in the case. However, there are affordable items like the chocolate bunnies on a stick. Impressively their sugar free peanut butter cup did not taste overtly of chemicals which is a hard feat so a great option for diabetics. Staff was friendly and helpful. read more

Great chocolate! Also you can buy molded chocolate in many shapes and forms. Try the candy bars in the case....better than drugs!

We LOVE the Greenwich Ave. location Patricia is a neghborhood gem! She remembers customers by names (and were only in there every 2 months or so). The chocolate is always fresh and rich not over sweet like American chocolate or Jacque Torres has a tendency to be. The employees at the Chelsea market are different. Tall rude man there always on his phone. Even if we eat there, we rather walk over to Greenwich to see Patricia!! read more

Ignore everyone else's review. This place is great. Fantastic chocolate. At this point, I've tried most of their offerings. My personal favorite is the maple walnut fudge or any of their delicious truffles. Sometimes, it's worth paying a little more for quality over, say, a Whitman's Sampler. read more

Jacki was so helpful that I come and visit just to say hi to her. The chocolates are to die for ! Jacki thank you and I can't wait to come back and visit! read more

I bought candy for a V-day gift. The chocolates were OK but the price could only be called astronomical. Why does a chocolate covered caramel the size of a Werther's caramel cost $1.45 each? Actually Giradelli, Godiva and Lindt are just as good at a fraction of the cost. A small heart shaped box with dozen pieces can run around $45. C'mon, your candy is not all that. It's candy, not Beluga caviar. read more

Best chocolate in NYC. Locally owned an been around for decades. Fantastic fudge, truffles, almond bark, and covered graham crackers. Yes, its pricey but it is so worth it. read more

Excellent service at Grand Central location. Kudos to Tamara, Debbie, Nikki and James

Ordered $300 of chocolate. Arrived in a "cold" box. Basically it's a box with a single cold thing at the bottom. Which was completely melted. And which got the boxes of chocolate that I ordered as gifts soaking wet because the boxes of chocolate were on top of it. What a mess. Never again. read more

Nice fresh made smoothly chocolate Factory owned items straight to its own store I love the liquor filling chocolates! Nice location at down town read more

Best hot chocolate in the city. What differentiates it is that they take actual chocolate shavings and melt them into milk. It is not a powdered Greenie hot cocoa but a true hot chocolate. Their chocolate selection is wonderful and they have the best red licorice I have ever had in my life. This is the only location that does the hot chocolate. The one in Chelsea market does it but their machine is down at the moment. Oh, and a good deal of it is Kosher. read more

Chocolate is good with some unique items like a French mint but definitely seems overpriceed... I think a choclate orange slice is like $4.95......... maybe $3 or $3.50 at most seems reasonable. $4.95 seems absurd. read more

I heard such great things about their hot chocolate yet I was disappointed when I tried it myself. At first taste I ranked it two stars, but after several sips I gave it three, then ultimately back down to two. Hopefully that gives you sense of my experience, haha. It's mildly creamy and slightly bitter. It's personally not my taste of chocolate. read more

Amazing classic spot. My favorites are the butter crunch & pecan dark chocolate clusters.

Staff doesn't know how to take orders. Wanted to place an order over the phone to pickup. You know calling ahead of time to order. Get through the whole process to be told they don't take orders over the phone and I could pay for it and secure my order. Now with out candy on Valentine's Day. read more

BEST CHOCOLATES EVER! My personal favorites are the hazelnut squares and any of their creamy white chocolate! My in-laws LOVED the dark chocolate, and my son (4 y/o) of course went crazy for everything we got! Amazing chocolate, you can tell they put a lot of love into it! Awesome customer service too! Love supporting small businesses, it's so important! read more

Have adored the 8th and Jane location in multiple visits over the years, so am sad to see that quaint spot vacated......but the new location sells the same fine chocolates. I'd compare Li-Lac to See's in California in terms of style and quality--- I prefer it to many European brands. But Li-Lac also makes finely molded seasonal and novelty items, so the shop is especially charming at Easter, Christmas, or Halloween. Their staff today were exceptionally welcoming and knowledgeable. Hot chocolate is artisanally brewed by the cup. read more

Fantastic store and extraordinary chocolate. Love this new store!!! So excited to come back.

Customer service sucks. These ladies were rude, have poor communication, and no idea how to run a store. They can't even decide if their own drink has dairy. Waited in line for drinks, ordered, they got confused and annoyed at simple straightforward questions/order. Then when they were done made me get BACK in line to pay for them! But the chocolate is really good so decide what's important to you or just order delivery. read more

This new location is yet more enchanting than the former Li-Lac on Eighth Avenue. The brighter lighting, smart looking beverage stand that seamlessly blends with the space, and artful merchandising make for a festive browse. One of the staff named Jackie is knowledgeable, sincerely warm and generous - a joy to deal with. I always marvel how a taste of these confections is a time travel. They have their own unique, endearingly old fashioned nuances. read more
