Best hot chocolate in town! We were waiting for the hop on- hop off bus and decided to get hot chocolate for the ride. It was like drinking liquid chocolate - absolutely delicious. The guy behind the counter insisted on giving us a sample of the Italian hot chocolate to try and it was just as good. read more

Max Brenner Times Square - smaller than the one in Union Square but has most of the same items if you are looking to shop quick and convenient especially for the tourists. Many people stop here to purchase hot chocolate and the line and wait is bit long for that. Usually come here to pick up a gift box of chocolates which they have a variety to select from for the holidays. Prices have gone up during the years.. but the selection for the most part is the same with some new varieties. You can also make your own gift boxes. read more

Small store front with no seating room. In the middle of Times Square - great location. Solid hot chocolate. I got the original and got my brother the Oreo milkshake - both were a hit. The original hot chocolate was milky and not sickly sweet. Really enjoyed it on a rainy cold New York day. The guy making it was really nice and gave extra cups to split the hot cocoa for my kids. They have great gift items too that are packaged nicely. read more

Something dark chocolate in an ice-cold shake. Smooth, well-balanced, can really taste the chocolate but not overwhelmingly sweet, though it is quite sweet because chocolate. Much better than I expected for a chain, but there's a reason they're still around after all these years. read more

This location is in the middle of Times Square. Great place to grab a hot chocolate on a cold day to walk around. The location is small. There is no seating in the location. The girl that helped me at the counter was very kind. They sell a variety of chocolates and hot chocolate. I ordered the Italian hot chocolate in a size small. Nice place to get hot cocoa. But there is no place to sit and drink, so you basically have to buy and go. But it was perfect for a cold day in NYC. Located in the Times Square area next to the M&M store. I would stop again if I needed something warm to drink around the Time Square area. The service was good too. read more

We ordered the Dubai Hot Chocolate that was advertised outside of the store. I asked the man at the counter if it will look exactly like the photo. He assured me that it would. I asked again before I paid for it and again, he told me it would look exactly like the picture. When he handed me the hot chocolate, I thought it was a joke. He actually said, "well it might not look exactly like the photo". I didn't want the ridiculous drink he made me but he refused to refund my money. See the pics below. read more

This is good hot chocolate, but very rich and thick. Almost too much so. They have an extra small and small. Only get the extra small. I didn't try adding milk or the marshmallow ($1.25 extra). The line moves quickly, they gave out free chocolate samples while in the line and the price seems fair for Times Square. read more

Max Brenner was recommended as a must visit chocolate store by a few friends on our visit to NYC but left us a bit disappointed. It was a very small menu and they were out of waffles so there wasn't much left to try. We ordered hot chocolate, which was nearly $8 for a small size. So happy we got to stop by and grab a hot chocolate for our boys to try. We used to have a Max Brenner at the Caesars Palace in LV but unfortunately they closed. Our son LOVED their hot chocolate. My husband and I ordered the Oreo shake which was extremely delicious! Still thinking about it. The service was decent and this spot was small and cozy. We stopped in the Max Brenner store in the middle of Time Square because I wanted to try their hot chocolate. It was rich and decadent...super sweet but delicious on a rainy, cold day in NY. The gentleman working there was very friendly and gave us samples to try. We did end up purchasing the chocolate covered pecans which were super good. read more

Of all of the premium hot chocolates we've tried in New York City, Max Brenner is by far the best! It has plenty of chocolate flavor without being bitter, and plenty of milky creaminess without being too dilute. It's a very nice treat to have on a cold day when walking around the city! The service was quick and easy, and there were lots of beautiful boxes and other chocolate goodies in the shop to look at while waiting for your drink. Would definitely recommend you check this out if you are going on a hot chocolate tour around New York! read more

Came here on a whim while on my way to dinner and ordered their Italian hot chocolate with marshmallow and it was pretty good. It was sweet but I truly enjoyed it. In a way, it kinda remind me of the hot chocolates at the Bryant Park holiday market. This place is small so it's more of a grab and go spot. 4.5 stars read more

First Impressions- came in the store in a whim for a cup of hot chocolate and to get a break out from the cold and crowds of Times Square... the store was pretty messy and had some trash on the floor, old receipts and napkins and leftover detritus. But there was only one girl in the whole shop, so I'll cut her some slack The Noms: I really enjoyed the hot chocolate. Not too thick, not too thin... it's the perfect consistency. I got it with whipped cream, and it was so creamy and delicious. Wish there would be something whimsical like chocolate shavings on top or some crushed peppermint... but honestly this was satisfying to get out of the cold after looking at the 5th ave light shows and seeing the Rockefeller Christmas tree. It really hit the spot. In conclusion - I would come back here for another cup of hot chocolate, it is pretty pricey at almost $7, but it was a nice treat, and I don't have it often. Was staying at the hotel above the Times Square location and decided to get a signature chocolate shake while I waited for my wife. I was the only customer in the store. The drink consisted of appx 4 oz of milk a scoop of chocolate powder and to the brim with ice. I commented "thats it for chocolate?" The blended drink was pale in color and had nothing but a hint of chocolate flavor. What a let down. $8.13 for hint of chocolate flavor. read more

Very patient gentleman at the counter. He was very busy but calm, even with a line forming outside after the Thanksgiving parade. He earns high stars. As for the store, it is small but with wall to wall chocolate merchandise. Hot chocolate was sold out so he kept telling people it's a bit of a wait for the next batch. Watched him pour a container of chocolate ganache into the milk. We didn't want to wait for it so asked for shakes instead. Generous amount of vanilla ice cream and scoops of ganache went in the blender. Granita shake was with ganache only, Oreo one was granita with cookies blended in. Looked good but we were disappointed bec didn't get the richer chocolate flavor. Their chocolate is just too sweet and reminded me of chocolate syrup. read more

Oh my gosh the hot chocolate here is absolutely incredible!! I've been hearing about Max Brenner and needed to stop in for a rich, luxurious cup of hot chocolate. I got the Mexican hot chocolate with dark chocolate and it was phenomenal. They have soo many different flavors and you can basically customize your cup. There is a choice between milk, dark, and white chocolate. They even have mochas. Their menu is vast and has a ton of breakfast food but with a sweet twist. The restaurant, take out area, and shop are all packed but it's clear that they're serving up quality on every order. Amazing hot chocolate -- my new yardstick to measure all other hot chocolate to! read more

The Italian hot chocolate is thicker than the classic, which the clerk told me about, but also much, much, much sweeter, which she did not. Add a marshmallow, and I was nearly catatonic in sugar shock. Get the small classic hot chocolate with a bit of whipped cream, and share it with a friend. It's plenty. read more

Had the worse lunch ever! I ordered eggs and I got an overcooked, fried, dry egg or two eggs, couldn't tell, that looked like a pancake with spinach & mushrooms in the middle and covered with a layer of cheddar cheese. The hash brown potatoes tasted like they were re-heated. The dish came with a very small slice of baguette. Left most of the dish. I couldn't keep eating. It was very greasy! Ordered a cup of chocolate thinking it was going to be something special for $7.50 but it was just an ordinary cup of chocolate. Very disappointed. I won't be back. read more

Overall 4/5 stars! It was quite a windy night in Times Square and Max Brenner's hot cocoa definitely kept me and my hands warm! I only had the hot chocolate, which was phenomenal, but I do have to give a fair warning that although it was very nice and rich, the pure chocolate was wonderful but a little too sweet for my taste. If I had some almond or oatmilk to be able to displace the sweetness a bit, I would say it would've been perfect for my tastebuds! If you aren't a super sweet-inclined person, I would definitely go for the smaller serving (right photo in the one with the two cups!) read more

Best hot chocolate! Rich and thick, surprisingly not sickeningly sweet like some hot chocolates or chocolate bombs can be. They use their high-quality chocolate in this. If they did frozen hot chocolates, i'd be in line for the summer. Their chocolates and other confectionery items are also really good! They gave out some samples when I went by. read more

Max Brenners was awesome. In a good part of the city where you are close to Times Square, etc, but far enough away to not be overcrowded and price gouged. The ambiance was casual but special here due to its chocolate factory and cafe feel. It was a chilly night, so our group of three got hot chocolate. It was rich but delicious. We ordered wings and burgers. Our dessert was the restaurant's specialty chocolate fondue with crepes, waffle & whip cream, along with fruit chocolate biscotti. To top everything off, the service was perfect. Our server Matt was funny, prompt, and friendly and did not rush us even though it was the end of the night. Will come again! read more

Picked up some Valentines chocolate here and have to say the first thing that stuck me was okay how lovely the employees were! Given it was valentines they were busy but made a point to greet everyone that came into the store . The store is small but filled with chocolate treasure - they have pre made boxes, truffle boxes you can customize, hot chocolate- basically everything a chocolate lover would like. Their prices are not bad at all and on par for premium chocolates! We got a box of 9 truffles for valentines- beautiful looking chocolates in a pretty presentation box. Great shop in the Times Square area. There were two employees, which is more than enough for the size of the store, about 100 square feet or something. There were an array of prepackaged chocolates in fancy boxes and a build-your-own-box option. They also serve fresh hot chocolate in little machines right at the counter. Supposedly it has its origins in the cuisine of the Italian city Naples and the Neapolitan immigrants who brought spumoni to the U.S. Spumoni is an Italian dessert that uses three different flavored (vanilla, cherry, and pistachio) layers of ice cream that resemble the Italian flag. Americans would put their own spin on it by replacing the cherry with strawberry and the pistachio with chocolate. Moving back to the NWC truffles, the outer shell is comprised of a smooth and creamy white chocolate infused with strawberry, while the equally smooth core is a melty milk chocolate and white chocolate truffle. Although Neapolitan is not a favorite ice cream of mine (fruity ice cream is not my thing), Lindt absolutely nails it with all three flavors clearly coming through. Like all the other truffles I've tried from Lindt, the texture is phenomenal. I was a bit skeptical going into this one and only picked these up out of curiosity when I spotted them on clearance. I am a devotee of dark chocolate, and have tried every dark offering it has. Each is superb, even flavor combinations I haven't historically adored (like orange and chocolate - I know it's popular, but it's just not my favorite). That said, my personal favorite is the Anastasia, a hazelnut and dark praline enrobed in dark chocolate. It is exquisite. Service is always excellent. I've ordered in person and over the phone, and have always been so pleased with the staff. The website is helpful when ordering a variety, but if you'd like an entire box of Anastasia, for example, you have to call the Rockefeller Center store and place the order by phone. They ship once a week, and I always have my box fairly quickly. Boxes make terrific gifts ... including for yourself. If you're walking in, I recommend sitting down to enjoy a few pieces of chocolate, then taking the rest in a box with you. There is a cozy but comfortable seating area in the back just for this. This area is also an ideal place to enjoy some of their drinking chocolate. Highly, highly recommend.

I was here at this location in Chelsea Market very recently for a chocolate walking tour with Shorewalkers, along with Läderach, Lint (as it was on the way,) 'Royce, and Mariebelle. The staff here were friendly, handling our large group as well as the multitude of tourists and others visiting this location. This was one of our later spots, and because of their pricing, I bought a quarter pound of their Dark Chocolate Cashew Chews. This came with a small handful of pieces and was a bit over $13, as half a pound is $25. As the name suggests, the base is dark chocolate, with the rest being chopped cashews and caramel. The chocolate was of good quality, being just bitter enough but not too much, and the texture was nice. The caramel wasn't too sweet, and the cashews added a good little crunch. It was a tasty though expensive treat. Some other spots are cheaper or similarly priced with slightly better quality, but I understand the price point is partly because they still make their treats in NYC. This is unlike some of the other spots, which have moved out to Vermont or other places like L.A. Burdick and others.
