Let me start this off by saying I have been a big fan of Jacques for years and have been making his chocolate chip cookie recipe few years as well. I'm not a professional baker, just someone who loves to bake. That being said I do, for the most part, know what I'm doing. I make his cookies almost monthly and actually won a contest with that recipe! The cookies served in the store are nothing like the actual homemade version. Yes I know this isn't some small family run bakery making everything from scratch and fresh everyday and that it's a mass produced product. But even knowing that, I was not at all impressed with the cookies being sold. They were dry and overly sweet. The shop was cute, albeit a little oddly laid out. If you're looking for an average, nothing special, chocolate chip cookie, then sure, get it in the shop. But if you want a truly amazing cookie, make his recipe yourself and skip this place! They are worth the 2-3 day process!
The store is very big and has some seating as well. The chocolate is definitely on the fancier expensive side but great for gifts. They had lots of pre-packaged sets but you can also create your own box. Lots of NYC themed packaging as well. We loved all the different flavors. The dark chocolate was intense and smooth without being too bitter. Hard to believe it was 80%! One note: Gift cards purchased online cannot be used in the store! We found that out the hard way.
Get there early for fresh baked goods like croissants, as they sell out. Hot chocolate is rich and flavorful. Thick and creamy. Very comforting. Not too sweet, which was a nice surprise, since it's milk chocolate. Would return for this to try with a scoop of ice cream!
One of the best cookies I've had and I stumbled on it by accident: I'm a sucker and when I saw the candy canes, I knew I had to go in and get the cookie. Crispy edges, not too sweet, still had a good chew, full of candy cane pieces that didn't make my teeth hurt and so much rich chocolate. I am 100% going back. Service was sooo friendly.
I have visited the Grand Central and other locations before as I have loved these cookies since visiting Mr. Chocolate's second NYC location on Hudson St. Dumbo was the first location he opened. This is a large and well set up store with excellent staff and so many products available. We of course took away multiple cookies and some dark chocolate. I appreciate that it is explained where the chocolate is sourced from. The cookies were amazing and are definitely a favorite of mine!
First timers and we stumbled upon it literally 5min till close. Ran in to see what was available the lady was so kind I wish I had asked her name. She took her time explaining and we ended up with macarons and chocolate bark. Very excited to try them when we get back to our hotel but let me just say the HOT CHOCOLATE alone is worth a trip here. I will be back for his famous cookies and a signed cookbook. My kids were so excited to see his store in real life since we are all big NAILED IT! fans. 10000/10 make a point to stop here when in the area
I only tried the chocolate chip cookie but didn't think it was particularly good. The texture was hard but not crisp and the flavor was pretty standard for a chocolate chip cookie. Their other items might be better but I wouldn't recommend their cookie.
such decadent hot chocolate!! rich, thick, and a great value. there is some comfortable seating inside and the service was so friendly and excellent. if you're lucky, you may also find a staff member handing out some chocolate samples outside the store :)

Food: 4/5 I've had the pleasure of trying there delicious chocolate cookies, hot chocolate and there caramel and chocolate covered popcorn. All which are Belgium dark and regular chocolate. And it's SO GOOD! My goodness. The chocolate taste so rich and fresh. Service: 5/5 Staff are friendly, attentive and greet you upon walking in which means a lot. Ambiance: 3/5 Nothing to fancy but they have a wide space for seating and to eat. There are an array of different chocolate variations to choose from. You'll have a ball. If in the area stop it and try them out.
Amazing! I love chocolate but am pretty picky... this place had incredibly good plain chocolate bars (I had the dark) and the two bon bons/ truffles I tried were delicious! I had the dark espresso and the gf dark almond crunch. Friendly staff as well. If you like chocolate I would stop here! Also it wasn't insanely priced!
I visited the grand central terminal location and had their frozen hot chocolate. It was rich and creamy, and tasted amazing. They put their handmade whipped cream which tasted just perfect (not too sweet) and I loved it. It was $6 and the amount was a lot. I definitely recommend this for chocolate lovers. I could taste the cacao and the chocolate was not too sweet which I loved.
Amazing chocolate ice cream and homemade chocolate cookies! Cute little shop in brooklyn. Definitely stop in if you're in the area. They gave us samples of different flavors of ice cream. The ladies working there were very knowledgeable about the business and extremely friendly. There's a small seating area to enjoy your ice cream or cookies and chocolates. read more

Ordered some of his cookies from my house in Arizona. I got a good deal as they were 12 for $50. They used Belgian chocolate and the cookies packed a dense punch and alot of calories too. The cookies were very good and was glad to try things that are currently trending in the internet. read more

Definitely come here. The gentleman that was working was super nice and very patient. My friend and I sampled every ice cream flavor and he did not rush us at all. The ice cream prices are also great for the area. I got the cookies and cream scoop, which is made with the actual chocolate chip cookies they make. I also got a banana scoop, which is made with real bananas, no artificial flavoring at all! They have other delicious flavors as well. The place has more than enough seatings with outlets as well. read more
The hot chocolate here at Jacques Torres Chocolates (JTC) was the best I've had in my life. The drink was so chocolatey, creamy, and not too sweet (it seems like they used dark chocolate). We each ordered a small hot chocolate and that was so rich. I don't think we could've finished a large cup of hot chocolate just because of how decadent it was. They even had spiced hot chocolate or hot chocolate with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. We will definitely be back again to try those drinks out if we're visiting during the holiday season. JTC sells chocolates and other desserts too. Yum. read more
If you're looking for hot chocolate that is decadent but not too sweet, this is the place!! I got to try their Wicked and Classic hot chocolates and loved them both! The classic one was very rich with strong cocoa flavors. Loved how it wasn't sweet like other NYC hot chocolates. The consistency was just right. Not too watery but not too thick. Yiu can opt to get free cream which was very fresh. The Wicked chocolate features ancho and chipotle chilies. As an oxacan chocolate lover, I though I'd like this more but the chilies were slightly more bitter than expected. Nevertheless they brought a nice little spice and smokey kick to the delicious hot chocolate. Also got a chocolate chip cookie dipped in chocolate to go. There was generous amount of chocolate chunks and it wasn't too sweet. The cookie itself was chewy and on the drier side. Edges were crispy and the dipped chocolate at the back was also yummy as a nice addition. Service was quick and the store itself is pretty spacious, although not that many tables were available for customers. They also have lots of other goodies and ice cream. Bathrooms only for customers. read more
The best frozen hot chocolate in the world. This is a highlight for me in Dumbo. The staff is wonderful, shop is immaculate, there is a lot of seating and e 'em places to charge up our cell phones. The chocolates, cookies, baked goods & ice cream is the best in New York City. Surprisingly prices haven't got much in the past 10 years. They have specialty gems for the holidays and ship all over the country. We have sent & received many gifts from here. read more
One time James Beard Pastry Chef of the year, now most known for his work as a chocolatier sourcing his own cocoa beans and premium use of ingredients. Jacques Torres was one of the first to elevate cookies beyond something Mom makes after school, now Levains and Jacques Torres cookies are NY destinations for fans of the sweet. The cookie is large and made from bread flour so it has a distinct crispy taste and isn't soft and tender. It has an appealing appearance with an even color speckled with dark chocolate and is flatter than Levains puffy cookie. I enjoyed the salt used in the cookie and this sounds crazy but I would have preferred it with less chocolate. It was a bit too much and felt like a chocolate bar mixed with bits of cookie instead of a cookie with chocolate chips in it. a familiar story outside this chocolate shop: "a young child crying in Dumbo. her parents push her stroller past Jacques Torres's Chocolate shop. the famous chocolatier appears at the entrance and says 'little girl, there is no reason to cry when there's so much chocolate to try' and then hands her a chocolate lollipop turning the frown and waterworks into a sugar-fueled smile." this story is true and should ring familiar to anyone who isn't perpetually hypnotized by their smartphone as this type of story happens everyday someplace in NYC. while simple grace and common kindness seems to be fading from landscape, it is great to see this small shop filled with chocolates, ice cream, and more is still thriving with the same energy and friendly vibes when it first opened years ago. stopped by recently, where fine chocolates and ice creams were enjoyed. everyone re-living a sliver of their childhoods with each bite of chocolate. while Jacques Torres wasn't there the day we visited...he was there years ago and that young girl will soon be a teen and is still a fan. if there is any lesson to be had here and in life: make memories. read more
Came by for their classic hot chocolate, wife had a craving for it. We were also celebrating our son's 20th birthday. As wife is enjoying the realist hot chocolate you can buy. The workers approach my son with free samples of hot chocolate, and a gift of chocolate cookie, and a chocolate heart!! Talk about wise workers, friendly, kind and incredibly thoughtful. I loved this chocolate shop! They have a nice selection specially now that Easter is coming. A friend recommended the hot chocolate mix, of course I bought a few other chocolates for gifts. They also have hot drinks for purchase. read more

We went initially for ice cream. However, the freezer was broken so they only had limited flavors of vanilla, chocolate or strawberry. So we opted for the cookies. You know Valentine's Day is the biggest chocolate day of the year and this year I both treated my husband to chocolates from Jacques Torres and received chocolate from Jacques Torres. I'm in heaven. For my husband I sent the Sweet Love Madame Chocolat collection. Perfect selection of a variety of our favorite non bons; From fresh strawberry fillings to the classic creamy chocolates, it did not disappoint. I also purchased the Wicked Chocolate mix to make Hot Chocolate at home. On the cold Valentine's Day it was a wonderful treat. I did learn. Hot Chocolate is NOT the same thing as hot cocoa. It is far superior. It takes patience and time to make but well worth it. Smooth creamy just sweet enough chocolate flavors floating over your tongue with a spicy kick from a slight hint of heat. Delicious!! This may not last long this winter. And then my gifts. I believe I received the Movie Date Night Bundle. From caramel corn with a true buttery taste that was rich with a hint of salt and bits of chocolate melted in just the combination. One bag was the first gone. The chocolate covered mini pretzels. A perfect combination of of pretzels and chocolate. Not too much and not too little. Dark Chocolate covered almonds were like no other I have had before. It was like a thin coat of chocolate with a dusting too. Just the right flavor combination with scrumptious chocolate and almonds. And I still have two bars of chocolates to go. If you have to get chocolates. Jacques Torres is the place to go. FYI. We ordered online and the delivery was fast and easy. read more

this place has the thickest and most chocolatey hot chocolate i've ever had - it literally tasted like melted dark chocolate. this isn't really my style, but it was still pretty good the cafe setup is interesting. all the tables are basically against a single wall (despite the cafe being pretty big), so i did feel it was a little tight read more
