Stopped in for a hot chocolate and boy was it thiccc. Steamed with an espresso wand, it was a while before it was cool enough to drink. There was a warning/suggestion to ask for additional milk to cool it down so maybe I'd do that to help with the heat and the consistency next time. Overall you could tell that it's a good quality chocolate by the richness and not too sweet of a milk chocolate, although there is also a dark chocolate version I'd want to try. There was a cafe at the Glide ice rink but why pay for overpriced hot chocolate made from powder when I can get Jacques Torres hot chocolate which is a five minute walk away? The hot chocolate was made to order so it was hot and super rich. I ordered the wicked hot chocolate which had a bit of a kick. I also got their chocolate chip cookie which apparently is the #1 chocolate chip cookie in NYC. I can see why since it's quite large and had a lot of chocolate chunks. There's a few tables inside. Definitely come here. The gentleman that was working was super nice and very patient. My friend and I sampled every ice cream flavor and he did not rush us at all. The hot chocolate here at Jacques Torres Chocolates (JTC) was the best I've had in my life. The drink was so chocolatey, creamy, and not too sweet (it seems like they used dark chocolate). We each ordered a small hot chocolate and that was so rich. I don't think we could've finished a large cup of hot chocolate just because of how decadent it was. They even had spiced hot chocolate or hot chocolate with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. We will definitely be back again to try those drinks out if we're visiting during the holiday season. If you're looking for hot chocolate that is decadent but not too sweet, this is the place!! I got to try their Wicked and Classic hot chocolates and loved them both! The classic one was very rich with strong cocoa flavors. Loved how it wasn't sweet like other NYC hot chocolates. The consistency was just right. Not too watery but not too thick. Yiu can opt to get free cream which was very fresh. The Wicked chocolate features ancho and chipotle chilies. As an oxacan chocolate lover, I though I'd like this more but the chilies were slightly more bitter than expected. Nevertheless they brought a nice little spice and smokey kick to the delicious hot chocolate. Also got a chocolate chip cookie dipped in chocolate to go. There was generous amount of chocolate chunks and it wasn't too sweet. The cookie itself was chewy and on the drier side. Edges were crispy and the dipped chocolate at the back was also yummy as a nice addition. Service was quick and the store itself is pretty spacious, although not that many tables were available for customers. They also have lots of other goodies and ice cream. The cookie is large and made from bread flour so it has a distinct crispy taste and isn't soft and tender. It has an appealing appearance with an even color speckled with dark chocolate and is flatter than Levains puffy cookie. It's been a while, but recently purchased a 14 oz can for $25 (!) from their Grand Central location on 12/10/2024. After getting home we excitedly mixed it as per directions with steamed whole milk, but sadly it just doesn't taste like it did before. Now it's just a very mild chocolate taste with almost no spiciness. This hot chocolate used to be something special with an intense, rich taste. From caramel corn with a true buttery taste that was rich with a hint of salt and bits of chocolate melted in just the combination. One bag was the first gone. The chocolate covered mini pretzels. A perfect combination of of pretzels and chocolate. Not too much and not too little. Dark Chocolate covered almonds were like no other I have had before.
