2024/01/26 Seafood Chow Fun
Dexter D.

I finished one project, had a half-hour to kill before my next project and I was hungry. I thought a quick fix at JL Kitchen would cure my hunger pangs. There was space in the parking lot. I was the only customer inside. When I stepped in, the gentleman asked if I was Anthony. I told him no, though now I wonder what Anthony had ordered (wink, wink!). I ordered Seafood Chow Fun to go, paid and was told that it would be a five-minute wait. I sat and worked on my phone until my order came out. I drove to a nearby park to eat. My bag contained my food, two napkins, a fork, soy sauce and some chili oil. I ate 1/2 the container and found two shrimp, two pieces of fish and three pieces of calamari. I'll finish the other half tomorrow. Overall, the food was hot and reasonably flavorful. I usually request a packet of hot mustard but forgot to do so. JL is decent for a quick meal from a local neighborhood Chinese restaurant. I would come back for another meal, but I would not bring my parents here for a more formal meal.

Shrimp fried rice w added chili oil

The chef that cooks the food has some fine wok cooking skills. I just wished they used fresher rice because the fried rice I ordered today had many chunks of old stale rice. I will give em another chance since the flavors were good.

31. Kung Pao Prawn Lunch Special 8/10 would get fried rice next time instead

Kung Pao Prawn lunch special. 8/10 I would get fried rice instead of chow mein next time

The picture on the menu looks different than the actual dish you get. I ordered Mongolian beef. It was mostly onions and vegetables

I've been to other Bag O' Crab locations, and this location is by far the best one yet! A friend…read moreand I decided to meet at this location since it's halfway between u,s and I'm glad we did! As we came in, we were greeted and seated immediately. We ordered a dozen raw oysters with hot sauce. We loved every bite of it, and it's fresh! I ordered Combo #1 with 1lb of clams and 1lb of mussels, medium spice, and Atomic sauce. This bag comes with 2 corns, 2 potatoes, and 4 sausage slices. A robot will deliver the order, and the waiter will give it to you, and before that, they will shake the bag for you, which I thought was very nice! The food was delicious and full of flavor, and not watered down! I will definitely come back here!

There was about a 20-minute wait before we were seated. We ordered wings, fries, garlic noodles, and our seafood bags. Some of the food came after our seafood bags, which was frustrating. I ordered Combo 2 with snow crab and 3/4 lb of head-off shrimp, potatoes, and sausage. I specifically chose no-spicy seasoning, but my bag was still spicy. There also wasn't much sauce, and what was there was too thin. The other person who ordered a seafood bag agreed that the sauce wasn't thick enough. I was honestly very disappointed with my seafood bag. The potatoes were served whole in the bag, and I only ate maybe 2 or 3 pieces of sausage and I can tell the corn is frozen prior to cooking. It's very mushy. I spent around $65 total on the bag, fries, steamed rice, and can soda. And I honestly felt like it was a waste of money. For $65, I expected the food and overall experience to be much better. The wings, garlic noodles, and fries were good, so those were definitely the highlights. Unfortunately, the overall experience did not compare to my experience at the Berkeley location. Another downside is that the drinks are bottled or canned, so there are no refills. Service could have been better as well. And honestly, the first red flag was the bathroom. It was horrible and made a bad first impression before we were even seated. Unfortunately, I will not be returning to this location. I expected much more, especially after having such a great experience at the Berkeley location.

We ordered the brussel sprouts, Venetian aracini, summer special with swordfish, and rigatoni bolognese. The brussel sprouts were tossed and coated in parmesan cheese. The pieces were crispy without feeling heavy and paired nicely with the chili aioli. The aracinis were delectable. The filling was creamy, but the tomatoes provided freshness to the dish. The swordfish is plated on top of basil pesto risotto. Never had swordfish before, but this had my tastebuds dancing. The piece of fish was decently sized, marinated and moist, although the risotto can get a bit heavy. The pasta was cooked to al dente, and there were chunks of meat throughout the dish. Solid plate of pasta. Came out already topped with parmesan cheese. Some of their menu items are a part of a pre fixe menu for $55 thats offered in the afternoons Monday-Friday such as the salmon, short rib, and chicken piccata options. There is a bar area located deep in the restaurant. The servers were attentive and checked up on us and refilled our water several times.

Went to lunch on a Tuesday with two friends to celebrate a birthday…read more The owner was very confrontational when the birthday girl, a former restaurant owner, criticized her clam linguini as delicious but overly sandy. She just wanted him to note that the kitchen did not allow them to filter out the sand. He exploded and said all clams would be sandy and suggested she was ignorant. FYI, I have linguine and clams at many restaurants and have never had that much sand in it. He obviously does not know how to speak to customers and also has a problem with women. Criticism is met with anger and denial. Beware: if you express any dissatisfaction with your meal, you might be confronted by the owner, who will try to intimidate you, argue with you for way too long and tell you that you are wrong. Even though a manager came by to apologize with gift cards encouraging us to give them another try, we will never go back. This will be our last $300 lunch at Paradiso.
