I don't usually leave reviews, but this one felt necessary. My family and I ordered the combo chow mein, and the shrimp tasted like it had gone bad (100% expired). Honestly one of the worst flavors I've ever experienced. We ended up throwing the whole meal out. The fried ribs were off too, just had a weird taste. I'd be careful eating here. Street parking easy to find nearby. 10ish tables inside for dine in. Like many Chinese businesses, there is a spot where Guan Gong, the Chinese God of Wealth, I is prominently displayed. His prescence would bless them with business and fortune and protect their wealth. Ordered at counter, pd, got food within 5 minutes. Bites: Dried fried pork Ribs(11) -got a big portion. Told it was hot. Allowed it to cool before eating. Found pieces to be very salty and much bigger than the usual stringy piece of meat with intermittent button bones. lt was kinda dry. This was my second time ordering from Rose Garden via delivery service. The hot and sour soup tasted like Sriracha- I wasn't a fan The salt and pepper ribs were crispy and the oil tasted fresh. The bbq spare ribs were good The rice, the rice, the rice! Delicious. A bit oily but the veggies were fresh and still had a little crunch. This is a great little dive spot! The flavors are there! Wifey loves the chow mein. I love the beef chow fun. We all love the Mongolian beef! It's a bit onion heavy, but like I said, the flavors are all there! The lady was a sweatheart! Super nice and friendly! They make the food pretty quick! We ordered to go and all the containers were super stuffed! Wifey loves the crab rangoon, so do I! It was pouring rain when we went, and they have tile floors, so it gets a little tricky to get from the front door to the order counter. This is our go to spot for economic Chinese food! Rose Garden is located on a busy street. You have to find parking on the street, which isn't hard to find. It's a small place and they only have a few tables inside. I always call in my order so I don't have to wait. The owners are very sweet and always ask if you need additional things with your take-out order. My go-to order here is just their fried rice. The fried rice is here is above average. I typically order the house fried rice, which has chicken, beef, and shrimp. A thing to be aware of is that their fried rice is on the salty side, and they put in a lot of green onion. I always request them to put in less soy sauce and green onions. I've tried their hot and sour soup and do not recommend it. They use chicken instead of pork and the tofu pieces are huge. In hot and sour soup everything should be small bite size. The flavor is underwhelming so I had to doctor it up with more red vinegar and white pepper. read more

Love love the House Special Chow Mein! This time we tried the Cream Cheese wontons and the Sesame Chicken. While the sesame chicken hit just right, the wontons are a HUGE fail. The cream cheese was runny and crab was sparse. Instead of green onion, it had chunks of diced white onion. There was literally (no exaggerating) more onion than there was crab. The wontons were also just folded in half from corner to corner. So with the runny cream cheese and the fold... it was a non crispy, soggy mess. This was a food delivery not a dine in order. I found this place because they put a menu in our door, a proven good tactic because I was craving some Chinese food. I ordered online before I went to go pick up, which I recommend. They only have street parking but there were surprisingly a lot of spots available in front. If not, there's residential street parking, but it's only 1 way so be prepared to go around the long way if you miss out. There's only a few small tables inside but I didn't see anyone eating in, everyone came in for take out. The service was quick, I don't live too far and the big order I had was already ready for me when I got there. House special pan fried noodles: was pretty good, for some reason it was a little bit on the sweet side than I'm used to. I drenched mine in hot sauce to make up for the sweetness. Since it was take out, I would have preferred it if they separated my noodles and my meats/fillings, but I guess I could request that in the special instructions next time. By the time I got home and ate it, the noodles were already soggy and not crunchy like I would have liked. Salt and pepper cod: was about what you would expect from a to go Chinese spot. I've had better, but I've also had worse, it wasn't anything to brag about. Salt and pepper tofu: was cut into huge cubes. They were about the same size as the salt and pepper cod fish. Again, nothing to really brag about. I wish they had cut holes in the box it came in so that it wouldn't be so soggy. Honey walnut prawns was not what I expected. It was almost the same sauce as my sesame chicken, just with walnuts and a big ol half a tomato to take up space in the to go box. It was very small compare to the price but unfortunately cheaper than other places. I was just disappointed because it wasn't honey mayo based. Sesame chicken: had the same color and sauce as my prawns, except this one came in a huge portion size which I approved of. If anything, this is a basic buy at a Chinese restaurant, but worth it. The chicken was super crunchy and it had the right amount of sauce so that it wasn't drenched in sweetness, but it also wasn't dry like a salt and pepper chicken. I liked this one. Beef and broccoli: another basic option at a Chinese take out place, but the taste was pretty good. There was more broccoli than beef and the beef was a little bit on the tougher side. Unpopular opinion, their beef and broccoli was on the sweeter side, but I liked that. I usually prefer noodles or fun over rice, so having a beef and broccoli that's a tiny bit on the sweeter side complimented the saltiness and savory of the noodles or fun pretty well imo. At least I'm getting my greens in. The portion sizes are pretty good, except for the prawns. My gf and I have food for DAYS. I want to try other things but so far, everything has been pretty average. I think I would rather go to a Chinese fast food that offers an entree like rice or noodles and 2 items for $12 that feeds 2 people. This is my first time ordering from Rose Garden Cafe. This is a nice little hike in the wall which are the best places for Chinese food. I walked in it was super busy. Only one employee taking both phone and customer orders so have patience while waiting it well worth it. I order the sesame chicken combo plate, Prawn with lobster sauce and tomato beef chow mein all for $36 including tax. The portion size is huge and 2 of us were able to eat off of this for 2 days they are not stingy with the ingredients and the food is amazing. I don't think they is MSG either because I didn't have an allergic reaction to it which is a big plus. The woman who took our order was so sweet and kind making sure we weee happy with our food. Exterior: it is a run down building that has a big red sign that says "Rose Garden" that's basically all you need to know. Interior: furnitures, tables and whatever interiors they have are old. Like any other Chinese restaurants you would see. Experience: I have been to this place since I was a child. Their food is good, not the very top tier place to go eat, just a run down restaurant, down the street to grab some Chinese food. Occasionally, they would over seasoned their food, get your order wrong and they will still get away with it. 2024 experience: honestly, I have always call them by phone so many times and I always DREAD calling them. Their service is so bad, even if you speak Cantonese to them, their service is still so bad, they do not give you time to talk and they would immediately hang up on you mid sentence. They ALWAYS say they're busy but in actuality, they are NOT. Every time I come into their restaurant to get a pick up, that place is almost empty. Only 1 or 2 tables are taken and that's about it. Overall: DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND GO SOME PLACE ELSE. If you really want to make a journey to this garbage, go ahead because apparently, they will probably give you a decent service instead of using the phone. This place is too overrated for what you paid for. The lack of service and quality that everyone should need when they spend their precious money. If you're calling by phone, expect a rude and impatient lady to hang up on you while you're a regular customer, still supporting their messy business and trying to see some options to order after someone says, "we don't have that." Don't need the soy sauce! Found this place doing a Chinese food near me search and followed it up with a yelp search for the reviews. People seemed to like it and the pictures looked ok. So we decided to eat there. Service was ok - no complaints. We ordered the family meal B - sweet and sour pork, bbq pork fried rice, beef with broccoli, subbed egg rolls for $2 extra, wonton soup, and ordered house chow mein. We returned the egg rolls at no charge because they didn't taste good. The won ton soup was bland. The complimentary tea was weak and very light in even though we let it steep. The sweet and sour pork was heavily breaded and not so sweet. All of the other food didn't need a drop of soy sauce since it was a step or two above salty and the broccoli beef was salty. We did not enjoy the food. Looks are deceiving. I would not recommend this place. 2 stars for service and food came out hot. read more

This review is based on flavor alone. This place is good for a small place on E14th. I do have to say things are a bit salty but lots of flavor. For me I had to eat plain white rice with the items I got. It was too much for me to eat the fried rice with them. I purchased the salt and pepper fish (lots of crispy breading which I don't mind but some might, and I wish there were more peppers), prawns with lobster sauce (exactly what I wanted it to taste like), beef fried rice (good but you can tell there was a lot of soy sauce added), and beef and broccoli (one of the best sauce I've had for this entree).
