If I could give 10 stars I would. I called to see if they had any flounder. I was informed that it would be coming in later the next day. I was also told that I could pick it up at a local farmers market. The person that I spoke with was very patient and never seemed rushed. I told her that I could pick it up at Niles Farmers Market in Fremont because I live 5 minutes away. She took my number and the person in charge ACTUALLY TEXTED ME to confirm that I could pick it up. When I got to the market it was nicely packed and on ice. When I cooked it that night, it was delicious. I'll be contacting them this week for more flounder. read more

Solid little fish market that serves up local and sustainable seafood. Since I'm trying to lean into a more pescatarian fashion of eating, this was a nice score. They don't have a huge a selection, but in what they do have, nothing disappoints. I usually only see less than 10 offerings, but they are all super local, petrale sole, rock cod, Dungeness meat and my personal fave King Salmon. Not really cheap but not Whole Foods pricing either. So again, a nice fit for me. My finds: +No chaotic lines/queues like the big Asian grocery stores. +Never been disappointed in quality here. Been burned several times with fish from 99 Ranch that I eventually had to toss. +Get as much or as little as you want. Not like Costco where you have to get a monster pack. +Friendly staff that never sneakily upsales/oversells, like the greasy fish markets in Half Moon Bay. (*cough cough Half Moon Bay Fish Market*) +Always packs my goods with a little crushed ice for my travel. The store is a little hard to spot though. It's in an old part of San Leandro where the signs for the older buildings don't really stand out from the street. But once in I always leave with product I can trust, and I always feel better for supporting a local business. read more

I've actually never been to a fish market before. My husband found this spot and few months back and told me to come here to buy seafood. I usually just buy fish from like Costco, Asian food markets or Whole Foods which is ridiculously expensive. So I decided to finally listen to my husband lol and came here. The prices here were very reasonable, everything looked soo fresh. Surprisingly it being a fish market it did not smell fishy at all. As opposed to like the Asian food markets. I could never stand the smell. Even being a little kid and going there with my mom. The lady that helped was very nice and helpful. She was very informative. She also was telling me what kind of fishes they have for each season. So I ended up buying 2 lbs of salmon, 2 lbs of halibut, and 1 lb of rock fish. I cooked the halibut for dinner and it came out just right. It was so delicious! I have yet to try the salmon and rockfish. I would def go back. This is the place to go for responsibly caught and sustainable seafood in San Leandro. The price is right too. It's not going to cost you an arm and a leg to get local, wild caught fish, especially salmon. Sometimes I get salmon bellies, which is only $10 a pound. Where else can you buy salmon bellies in San Leandro? They also sell the collar, head and other parts of the salmon at great prices. Sometimes, I get salmon steaks which are about a half inch thick and $18.99 a pound. Perfect for a fast, weeknight dinner! I've also gotten cooked Dungeness Crab here. I like that they don't oversalt the crab when they're cooking. They also have shrimp, scallops, clams, and filets of white fish like Petrale Sole and Cod. The store's location is also convenient for me since it's a few minutes drive from Bay Fair Bart. I take Bart most days from Bay Fair, so I can easily stop by here on my home and grab my seafood. We came here today to get a crab for our traditional Christmas Eve meal. A little shop, easy to get to off 580. They had dozens of cooked crab for $7.99, salmon, cod, scallops, clams, mussels, etc. We wanted a live crab and were told they don't sell live, just cooked. However, they had just gotten a shipment of crabs in, and sold us a big one for $6.99. Great customer service, good prices and a parking lot to boot. Went to their stall at the Saratoga farmers market. I asked if they had scallops that were good for raw eating and the friendly dude said yes. $10/half lb. Seemed like a good deal at the time but when I opened it 2 minutes later to try it [couldn't wait], they were the nastiest, fishiest, blandest scallops I've ever had in my life. Sitting in a chemical pool of "water", these scallops were so nasty that any previous flavor that would have been in them, were absolutely stripped away. Fresh scallops should not smell so repulsively fishy. Chucked it immediately. What an absolute waste of $10 :( Honestly was expecting better esp since I have their main store location bookmarked and lots of people rave about how fresh they are. So glad I happened to find this place on yelp! Just moved to the area and came across this mom and pop shop. You don't see these around here that often. Fish is hella fresh. Limited selection, but that is how you know it's fresh and what is running. All female crew too-- woot! They fillet my salmon in just a few minutes, and it's clean and beautiful. I've had nothing but good experiences with the seafood I've bought from Marina Fish for more than 30 years now. Their wild king salmon tails are the best I've ever had. So tasty and easy to cook. We've also enjoyed other types of fish and sea scallops. I usually shop at the San Leandro (Bayfair) Farmers Market and I've always gotten great seafood from them. Was looking for fresh salmon, and was going to head to Whole Foods, but noticed Marina pop up on Yelp, so I headed over. The place is bare bones, cold and sterile like a fish place should be. There was a pretty good selection of healthy looking fish offerings. I went for the King Salmon fillets. I mentioned to the girl, I wanted enough for 2 people and she went in the back and pulled out an even more beautiful cut than the cuts that were on display. Props to that good customer service!! It came out to $28 and yielded 2 massive portions. Bubba and I were very happy, and it was better than any salmon I have had in a restaurant. I will now be making weekly trips for Friday Fish night. Splurged on a nice big salmon fillet here yesterday and baked for dinner. Easily the best salmon I've ever had. It was a very lean fish but still soft and juicy, and had a strong savory flavor. Big difference between this and run-of-the-mill Safeway salmon. It's fairly expensive so I won't be coming too often, but definitely worth it. read more

They have fresh fish, mostly from half-moon bay, and of course, crab & shellfish. The staff is friendly and their prices are excellent! Been coming here for fresh salmon. Met them first at the farmers' market in San Mateo. They sell shrimp, salmon, and other varieties of fish. Salmon has always been my first choice. I'd call their shop the day before for a 10 lb salmon & they'll have it ready fileted, bagged with ice & ready for pick up the next morning. What gets me is that it is so fresh that even if I keep it frozen for weeks then thawed & cooked later, the flavor is still fresh. None of that stinky fishy odor when you cook it in a pan greased with olive oil. With a bit of salt & pepper, and fresh vegetables, you've got yourself a healthy entree. You pay less if you buy a whole filet fish from the store than buy them in portions at the farmers' market. It is $11.95 lb and a whole fish may be a lot but to keep an abundance in the freezer for weeks is worth the budget. read more

Marina Fish Market used to be located closer to downtown San Leandro. I was not a regular customer so when I saw that they had closed down, I did not realize they hadn't closed but moved! Found them again (thank you YELP). Stopped by Friday and was greeted by the same friendly, helpful staff from the old location! Picked up a pound of the most delicious halibut. I used to love purchasing Salmon at the Saratoga farmer's Market. They gave great services and have fresh fish. I met an extremely rude sales person today that screamed at me for opening a bag of salmon to look at the dark marks on the fish better. She grabbed the bag abruptly away from me and threw it into a bucket and screamed at me in front of a market full of other customers. I did not know this is a violation since they sold whole fish in the open. I think she could have used a gentler way of speaking to a customer that may not know their rules. When I inquired who the owner is, the rude salesperson threw a business card at me and said "go ahead and talk to the owner, my name is Yola, and I don't care!" I wondered how could any business owner afford to hire such a rude employee like Yola! The manager politely asked to speak to me on the side and told me this is the owner's niece and that is why she could behave in such a poor manner.
