First time to have breakfast at Seafood City Grill while I'm visiting Oakland. We opened the place…read moreat 8 am. There was an array of Pinoy dishes, mainly breakfast food. They had like langgonisa, tapa, tocino, fried danggit, corned beef, fried rice and many others. The breakfast special goes on bento like lunchboxes. The great thing was...it was buy one, get one! That's pretty cheap and awesome! The Grill is set in the front if the supermarket, with tall boys for seating. The people serving were nice and amiable. Really good value for breakfast.

Many of them seem to be doing the bare minimum -- not only slow, but also lacking basic customer service skills. I came in on May 27 around 6:30 PM to have shrimp weighed, then asked for beef from the same fresh section. The older woman assisting me completely walked away instead of helping. As she was leaving, she said, "That's a different department, go ask them," even though the beef was literally in the same section as the seafood. When I told her there was no one else working in that area except her, she ignored me and kept walking away. Very rude and unhelpful behavior. Seafood City, please pay closer attention to the employees working in the fresh seafood/meat section. Customer service matters. If employees cannot keep up with the demands of a busy environment, management should address it appropriately. The woman assisting that evening was dismissive, rude, and made the experience very unpleasant.

Parking can be hard to find especially since it is located in a busy area but once you find a spot it takes less than 15mins to pick and choose your food. I came here a bit late so the many options were already sold out but was able to buy whatever that was left. Good selection from onigiri, musubi, to sashimi platters. I got a couple of rolls but the California roll is a bit pricy compared to other stores. Usually Cali rolls are about half the cost of the regular sushi rolls like cherry blossoms. Overall quality is great, price is reasonable. I loved the mango salmon. Def will be back!

There aren't many Japanese markets in the East Bay, so finding one compared to the markets in San Jose was a blessing. The workers were friendly as well. The shop was small but well maintained. The onigiri tasted even fresher than the ones I've had from Mitsuwa and Nijiya. They were generous with the fillings. The sushi and sashimi were fresh and quite affordable too. I had a nice drink to go with my snack and it was refreshing! I'm quite impressed with this grocery and will be back when I am visiting Castro Valley.

I had ordered a fish from Barons and I went to pick it up. I asked is it deboned and head off? The guy sais to me you talked to me and you didn't ask for that with an attitude. Well I had spoken to a few people and had asked. Then I noticed there were several bills in the tip jar which is not near the staff. I said you should really cover that and he said oh were fine once again with attitude. I don't appreciate being treated badly and I won't be going back.

[From the web] "A Denver steak, also known as Zabuton, is a relatively new, well-marbled, and tender cut of beef from the chuck primal section under the shoulder blade. It comes from the serratus ventralis muscle and is prized for its rich flavor and buttery texture, similar to a ribeye, despite being from a traditionally tougher area of the cow. It is best cooked using high-heat searing methods to fully develop its flavor and tenderize it. After cooking it, it wasn't as tender as we had hoped. He said you need to braise it. D'oh! We enjoy looking at the customer's dry aged beef sitting in the display case. Support your local business.

Stopped by on a Monday evening after dinner. The store wasn't too busy this day and we remembered to take our grocery bags. Upon entering, the store was clean and well stocked. The entrance takes you through the produce sections. The veggies were standard veggies like bok choy, cabbages, root veggies etc. There were some things I was looking for that didn't have labels, just "general produce." No biggie, I know how to use my phone to scan images. The produce section also has a freezer section with frozen dumplings, buns, and other stuff. The selection was amazing. The meat department had plenty of options from poultry to beef to seafood. They also had frozen meat and poultry in ice chests. I did come for loose leaf teas and found just what I needed. Everything is really great quality and they have different jujube options. I also loved their frozen ice cream and sweets. We got the viral ice creams to try and they also had tanghulu but only the hawthorn ones. We get to the register and the cashiers were really nice. Overall the experience is great!
