Detailed descriptor of Maple Pear and Blue Cheese Salad

Stopped by for a quick & quiet lunch. Hubby had a request for a bowl of clam chowder. I had my usual pear & pecan salad, my absolute favorite. Alan, our server kicked us off with their hot buttered garlic focaccia bread, oh seriously! The bread speaks for itself, sooo good! Love the view and atmosphere while it was somewhat quiet, nice to enjoy the solitude.

Haven't been to Horatio's since I was a teen. It's sits off in the marina by El Torito's and Marina Inn. Nice size parking lot but not very well lit. The restaurant itself is a little on the darker side but the aesthetic gives port or ship vibes. The service was a bit slow. It took an hour to receive the incorrect order, while noticing that larger tables sat after us already had their food. We received the taster platter but the bread was burnt. 4/10 I had the grilled shrimp scampi with mashed potatoes and asparagus. Good flavor but wasn't hot. Nice size shrimp. The potatoes had seized and the asparagus- thin and overcooked!! 6/10 Lobster bisque was flavorful but came late. 8/10 The crab and shrimp pasta was well seasoned and a nice portion. Quite rich. 8/10 Perhaps just an off night. Willing to try again in the future

What a great find by the marina! This seafood spot totally nails the coastal vibe -- the interior feels like you're dining inside a ship, with tons of nautical décor that makes the whole experience feel fun and immersive. Pretty neat place overall, and the atmosphere really sets the tone for a relaxed, waterfront meal. The food was so good. The calamari was perfectly cooked -- crispy on the outside, tender on the inside AND had fried artichokes too! -- and the salmon BLTA sammie was absolutely amazing. Super fresh, flavorful, and piled high with all the good stuff. Definitely a must-order. They also have a great selection of beers on tap, which paired perfectly with everything. And shoutout to our server, David! He was so sweet and attentive, checking in just the right amount and making sure we had everything we needed. Service like that makes such a difference. Can't wait to come back and try more from this yummy menu. Highly recommend if you're craving seafood by the water!

Horatio's is a very nice spot at the San Leandro Marina, that we've had the pleasure of visiting a couple of times now. The location couldn't be better. Overlooking the water, this is a great place to have a romantic dinner or drinks while watching the sunset. The interior is very nice, with a nautical motif. The restaurant is very spacious, a good choice if you're hosting a party with a large group. Horatio's is affiliated with Skates on the Bay and Kinkaids, of the Landry's Restaurant Group, which I picked up on right away, since they have a similar menu and motif. Skates fell out of favor with us after a really bad service experience there years ago, but we won't hold that against Horatio's. So far we've only been in for drinks and appetizers, but I'm looking forward to having a full dinner here soon. Appetizer-wise, their crab and artichoke dip is a must. They also start you off with warm garlic bread, which is yum. They have a very nice menu of creative craft cocktails. Reminds me of a really swanky cocktail lounge called Petrus we went to when we were in Serbia a few years ago. Service is excellent. Staff is welcoming, attentive, and professional. We look forward to returning soon.

Visited Horatio's with my brother to make use of a gift card. Just like the old days, their happy hour remains one of the best, classic and always worth it.

I like the bread they serve in the beginning Our waiter attends school he seems like he was in space land he took forever to bring items we I think he had to make the ice for our water and took forever to bake the garlic bread we asked for the crab artichoke sampler w/ teriyaki and coconut shrimp he only brought the crab artichoke dip sooo frustrating They didn't have the first thing I ordered so I had to order what I didn't want fish and chips I had a cocktail that I've had several times before it was excellent prickly pear jalapeño margarita mmm although the bartender didn't add all the fixings it was good I complained about nothing since I've been here several times before

We were celebrating a special day and decided on Horatio's because we hadn't been in years and it once had a nice view. We were seated immediately and assigned a waiter who introduced him self and took our drink and food orders. That was literally the last time he came to our table From that point forward we never saw our waiter again. A manager came and introduced herself walking around with black gloves she had on in the kitchen I just saw her in on our way in. We had to inquire about our order to the second manager that came over. By that time we had been waiting over thirty minutes for our food. The food finally came and it was just ok. We had the fish and chips platter, pasta with shrimp and crab, hamburger and crab artichoke dip. There was no crab in the artichoke dip. They could be so much better if they hired more wait staff. Our assigned waiter was given a party of 15 people that were seated in another section across from us. Read the reviews ? I did and still made the mistake of going .

Decided to take advantage of the awesome happy hour. Sat at the bar as it was pretty busy for a beautiful warm Thursday afternoon. As soon as I sat, Shannon greeted and welcomed me. Handed the menus and gave me a moment to scan the menus. I had already made my mind and told her what I would like. Serve my drink and appetizer, she would periodically check on me and I appreciate it that. Kudos to Shannon

This was our first time eating at Horatio's and it didn't disappoint! We have always driven by this place when we go to the marina but never stop in. We went on February 12 for an early Valentines dinner and chose to get their Valentines Special dinner. The special dinner was $130 for two people and included 3 courses. Our waitress Maria was very nice! I loved the atmosphere of the restaurant, they played good music choices and very clean. First Course: The warm bread with garlic butter is delicious and is the perfect shareable size. I had the Pointe Reyes Blue Cheese Salad and the toppings and dressing was amazing! My husband got the Romaine Caesar and it was very good also, I am just a blue cheese fan! Second Course: I got the filet and shrimp, mashed potatoes, and asparagus. My steak was cooked perfectly...very juicy and tender on the inside and char on the outside. I loved that it was not over seasoned or salty... it had such a great flavor I didn't need to add anything else to it. The shrimp was seasoned nicely, the mashed potatoes tasted perfect and were very creamy, and the asparagus was very tender. My husband got the prime rib and it was delicious. I really enjoyed the creamy horseradish sauce it came with. Third Course: I got the crème brûlée and was so creamy and just delicious, loved the fruit on top! I stole a bite of my husband's chocolate dessert and it was perfect... very moist and chocolaty! Overall, I highly recommend Horatio's and give the food a 10/10! Everything was cooked and seasoned perfectly and great portion sizes. We definitely need to come to try more menu items and see the bay in the daytime!

Location- this is by the water and near another restaurant and hotel. Lots of free parking all around so there shouldn't be an issue. Food- I've been dying for this crab pasta and let me tell you.. THE FLAVOR IS FLAVORING it's got a tiny kick but the crab is fresh and cheesy! Sparkling water was the best match to it but wine is great too. The steak was cooked exactly how I like it. This place is a must because it's got it all. The server was extremely helpful and kind. Cracked a few jokes but the staff is amazing! Definitely would come back here again. They got me now

This is one of the prettiest restaurants I have been to. The view as the sun was setting was out of this world. All of the food we tried was quality including the sampler, Cesar salad, and the fettuccine. The only downside at the time was the waiting. It took our food about an hour to come out with little to no check ins and we got so hungry. Luckily the complimentary bread was able to keep us occupied for a bit but other than that it's worth a visit!

Nice Martini glasses. Lemon Drop to the left and Impresso Martini to the right. Can't tell looking at the from the side.

We have been here no a few times and I have to say it is on the list. It's closer by but out of town. Need to meander through San Leandro neighborhoods to get there. The drinks, food and service are all great. I guess it's been here for close to forever and not sure how many people know about it unless they live close by. It does seem to have alot of regulars. A great view of an empty marina due to I think a bankruptcy and legal issues but hey, still on the water. The other perk is watching the planes coming in to Oakland, low and slow. We have only sat in the bar area but they have a massive dinnig room also. Overall a very nice place to hang out with a very chill ambiance to escape the daily crap.

Such a great start. For the entrée, we had the seafood fettuccine, loaded with lobster, scallops, crab, and shrimp in a rich, creamy champagne sauce--decadent and perfectly balanced. The bread service was also a highlight: focaccia and Kalamata olive bread served with olive oil and balsamic for dipping. To finish, I had an espresso martini alongside a creamy crème brûlée topped with a buttery shortbread cookie--an ideal ending to an already incredible meal. If you go in with tempered expectations, you may have a better experience than I did going in assuming this was standard Japanese fare. We went with the black garlic ramen (spicy), the lamb, beef, and black pork skewers (three skewers each), potato skewers, green onion skewers, tuna nigiri, tamago nigiri, chicken karaage, and gyoza. The skewers all tasted the same due to the HEAVY amount of dry seasoning rubbed onto every skewer, which is the same spice rub regardless of the meat. The layer of spice is so thick that it falls off everywhere as you're eating it. They also used the same spice mix on the potatoes and in the ramen, making the entire meal incredibly one note in terms of flavor profile. The flavors also clashed with the garlic ramen. The spices tasted like what I've had before in the broth at malatang restaurants and was a poor match for Japanese food. The chicken karaage was actually super delicious, but was more like popcorn chicken than karaage. It was also served with honey mustard, which made it feel like a different dish entirely. The gyoza were fine, nothing to write home about, and the sushi was good. The tuna was fresh and the tamago had a bit of caramelization going on, which was different than other examples I've had of it and I liked it. If you ignore for a moment that you're in a Japanese restaurant and came for Japanese food, you might have a good time here. The meat skewers were cooked perfectly and delicious, the ramen was prepared very well (and pretty generous in size), and the fish was fresh. But the one-note Chinese flavors took me out of this meal entirely and it ultimately fell flat for me, though my husband really enjoyed his meal. While I'm not keen on returning, it at least made a fan out of him. Important thing to note about the menu, specifically the skewers: be careful about the pricing. The wording on the menu is, frankly, nonsensical, but what it's trying to say is that the skewers are one price if you order less than a particular number of them, and a different price if you order more than a certain number of them. We didn't figure this out until after we'd already placed our order and they'd started grilling the meat, but we ended up with a slightly bigger bill than we intended. We of course didn't argue -- as Judge Judy always says, we ate the steak -- but the vague, terrible language of that part of the menu left a bad taste in my mouth (no pun intended).

I will say the portions are shareable and extra plates can be given. if you go with one more person, I would suggest sharing. it is kind of hard to get a waiter during lunch time but they made sure we got everything we needed. I will be back to try the ovaltine French toast!

My wife found Vivid Bibim on Yelp. San Leandro often has very high quality Asian restaurants, so…read morewe don't mind the longer drive for a weekend lunch. Vivid is located in a strip mall off Washington St, and looks like a family-run operation with lots of Korean customers. IMHO, Korean cuisine is not only super tasty, but super healthy too and consistent with HHS Secretary Kennedy's diet of high protein, fresh/pickled/fermented veggies, and yes either a fried or boiled egg with hot dishes. Banchan came out first, and was fresh. We loved the bean sprouts and kimchi. Free refills - just ask! Wife got the seafood ramen - nice broth and chewy noodles, but frankly she found chicken meat and not seafood. Maybe a kitchen oversight? The two entrees we got were definitely 5-star worthy. A big, heaping sizzling platter of bulgolgi is a crowd pleaser for sure. Thinly-sliced, juicy, and sweet-savory beefy flavors. I need to eat in moderation due to propensity to develop gout, but my 5yo son loved every bite. Its a bit pricy at $42, but it can feed 2-3 people. Next time we visit, we'll probably try either the BBQ chicken or the Pork Belly. The other amazing dish is the Chicken Dolsot. A huge, sizzling stone bowl of crispy rice and tons of colorful veggies and super juicy chicken meat. A fried egg thrown in for good measure too. I do recommend adding some red Gochujang Sauce for extra flavor burst. Looking forward to coming back for more. After the initial lunch rush passed, the entire kitchen staff came out and ate a meal together which was cool.

Great meal here served by really nice people. Dropped by for lunch on a Saturday afternoon with my…read morehusband and the place only had one other party in it. The waitress was super friendly and seemed to really like us, so her welcoming demeanor set the tone for the rest of the meal. We went with the kimchi stew, spicy rice cake appetizer, and the seafood dolsot. My husband wished the seafood dolsot was crispier, but felt like it hit the sweet spot between hearty and healthy with really good flavor. We loved the kimchi stew, which was the perfect sharable amount for two people or a satisfying dish for one. It was bubbling when it arrived to the table and had a lot of tofu and kimchi. The only dish that kind of disappointed me was the rice cake appetizer. While it was certainly a generous portion for an appetizer, I felt like there could've been way more rice cakes in there, and I didn't care for what I think was some sort of fish patty that were mixed into the dish. I would've much preferred swapping those out for more rice cakes. However, the flavors were delicious and the spice level was potent without being over the top and killing all the flavor of the dish. They have a wide variety of canned Korean drinks here, so I bought a couple to go: a carbonated watermelon drink and pear juice. Both were really good, and I'd order either one with my meal the next time we drop by. Also worth noting that rice and banchan refills are free so long as everyone at the table orders a dish. The purple rice has been overcooked and/or too hard at other Korean places I've been to, but it was fluffy and tender here, which I appreciated. However, one other minor complaint: it was a bit pricey for what we got. Three dishes plus tax and tip had our total just under $100. If we'd been here with even just one other person, I'm not sure what the total would've been. For a family of four or a group? It's got to start adding up pretty quickly. But at the end of the day, the food and service were good here and we'll be back to try more of the menu in the future.

Quality/Quantity - My daughter craved Pho so we came to this place. It has been a VERY long time since we ate here. Actually, the previous time was with the previous owners/business. Today we got the following: Fish Ball Noodle Soup with Pho Noodles - Of course my daughter's choice and with NO veggies?!?! This looked so plain... I know I could have made this better at home! My wife shared some of her wontons with my daughter to add to the flavor. See pictures. I am sure this is NOT what my daughter had in mind when she craved Pho. This was much more of a "Chinese" dish rather than Vietnamese. Update - My daughter mentioned that she could not find regular thinly sliced beef pho as an option. And she thought fish balls were beef balls... Wonton Noodle Soup - Also as plain as my daughter's dish. Again, more of a Chinese dish rather than Vietnamese. #24 Fried Pork Chop, Chicken, Egg with Steamed Rice - Fried fresh and perfectly done! My pork chop and chicken were 5 stars! Everything else was just okay. Ambiance - Very small local business. Decent size parking lot, but not enough spaces for this busy mall. We got lucky and got a space fairly close to the restaurant. Not stressed as we planned to shop at Foodnet after lunch. Service - Had to ask for everything. Hard to get their attention as they just hung around the first booth talking and talking and talking. The hardest worker was the runner, probably the only employee that was not family...? Price - $66 + more generous tip than deserved or earned. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success at this location since 2024. And your previous location in Oakland, etc. The previous location was known for their chicken, chicken noodle soup, etc.
